Abrilla: She does all you listed but within a very short time she is tired
Am not home all day and am not sure her nanny will do all I can do for her
Next thing she is calling names of cartoons she wants to watch
Sincerely watching cartoons keeps her occupied than others
I actually thought you were at home with her that is why i listed out those things.

I always prefer outside play to cartoons cos cartoons can just dumb a baby down especially these new ones coming up.

I limit my tv watching to max 3hrs a day and i space it out for them. 1 hr in the morning, 1 hr in the afternoon and 1 hr in the evening.

In between, they play outside with balls, bikes, make believe toys.

My 2 yr old loves legos and can play with them for hours.

In as much as i want my kids to be reading calculus by Age 5, i also want them to enjoy their childhood and have fun. This is the only time they can have fun and not really have consequences. As long as they are developing okay, i haven no issues at all.

She can't read books for 24hrs, in the same vein she can't watch cartoons and ride her book for most of the day. Why not have a balanced calendar like they have in schools for kids their age. At 2yrs, they cannot be focused on something for more than an hr so you need to break it up and give her varieties.

Start with singing and playing instruments for like 20mins. Then give her a book to scribble. Give her some colouring books and pencils for another 20mins. Then read a story to her and ask her questions to ensure that she understood. Teach her phonics then help her with some arts and craft. When she is getting tired, let her sleep. Then she wakes up and rides her bike outside. Point out different things for her to learn. Like show her birds, sand, stones (make sure u stress the colours) etc. Then she can come in and watch educational cartoons for a bit before you give her legos to play with.

People don't understand that she can learn a lot thru unstructured play where her imagination runs wild and creativity is born. Reading books alone will ensure you are an employee but creative play makes you an inventor.

Nairaland General › Re: Nairalanders Help!!! How Do I Pay PHCN Online (with Token Card) by blank(f): 8:13am On Sep 14, 2014
You can go to www.ikedc.com and pay through the payment link there or go to your online banking platform and pay through NIBSS. Unfortunately, you will still have to go to the disco to load the credit on your card.

Hope that helps.
Nairaland General › Re: IKEDC Staff Now Blackmail Lagos Residents Into Donating Money For Fake Faults. by blank(f): 1:56am On Sep 14, 2014
Aksonman: Dear Nairalanders,

A cross-section of electricity consumers in Lagos under the jurisdiction of Ikeja Distribution Company (IKEDC) are currently being blackmailed and held hostage by some auxilary staff of IKEDC.
These staff consisting mainly of unskilled technicians now go about vandalizing PHCN poles and carting away major cables connecting streets. After days of darkness, they aggressively persuade resident associations of affected streets to impose a levy on every compound on that street in order to raise money to fix a ficticious major fault.

This trend is nothing new as it existed during the era of government owned NEPA and PHCN, however with the privatization of these entities, such an illegal trend must now be considered an aberration.

Areas affected by the dubious IKEDC staff include parts of Ikeja,Egbeda,Idimu and Isheri areas.

We are calling on the new owners of IKEDC to take note and act swiftly.

Boyz (and girlz) are no longer smiling.
Send your complaints to customercare@ikedc.com and it will be looked into.

Don't also forget that a lot of these estate associations are used to this as their only source of income and could make you believe that IKEDC technicians sent them while they are out to make money for themselves. Insist on not paying any money and let's see what will happen.

OwerriChairman: I just confirmed from an eye witness there. Nobody died, just casualties. And the building is even under contruction,,, Nobody died please,,, And the casualties are just the workers alone. PLS BE INFORMED !!! ..... Thanks be to God, there was no death recorded.
Casualties? There were no dead people but there were casualties? Casualties are dead people so what are you saying? That the dead workers are not worthy to be counted as dead people?

You are a big fat liar! The spokesperson has confirmed 15 dead people as at yesterday evening and many more are trapped.

I know she works in Skye bank and studied in London Business school so she must be a smart woman.

I am just wondering of what benefit her removal will do to you?

It's the usual, if a woman is making it, she must be sleeping her way to the top.

Not that i am saying she is guilty or not of embezzling funds, its the annoying part of sleeping with a board member that rankles.

He waited for her and I thought maybe he spit on her but she flung out her arms so my thought is she either tried to hit him or dodge the spit. You think like me cause I literally go step by step when I analyze things. You tend to face the facts when you do.
Police booked both of them for assault meaning, they both threw punches at each other. Whose punch was bigger or more painful is not the issue.
Nairaland General › Re: Laminating Important Documents And Certificates. by blank(f): 10:45am On Sep 12, 2014
Abeg, do not laminate again. I stopped laminating at my WAEC. I haven't laminated anything else. What does the manager want with laminated certificate? Is he hanging it in his house? He should write to the original schools and get info on whether they are real or not.

When you get married at the registry, they will tell u not to laminate your wedding certificate cos embassies will not accept it. Also, when you register a baby's birth with NPC (located in local govts) they will tell u not to laminate.

BluIvy: This is crazy! Are people watching the same video here? Do people think the club and its lawyers are that stupid to just revoke the guys contract without trying to understand exactly what went down there?

the video clearly shows that the guys was the aggressor and the attack was pre-meditated which makes the case very serious but might have mis-calculated or forgotten that there are also cameras in the lift. If one watches the video carefully you will see the following:

1. The guy pacing obviously pisssed-off waiting for the female to arrive
2. He intentionally chose to hide from the foyer camera by standing next to the pillar
3. When the lady arrived, he got into her face in threatening manner and could be seen saying something (might be insulting her or provoking her from her response with her hand, but barely touches him). He might even had touched her because we cannot see his two hands when he was shoving his face on the woman.
3. When coming out of hiding in the view of the camera he acts normal and gets into the lift.
4. He is obviously still pisssed they exchange words and the lady responds by reopening the lift door so he could get off but he attacks her
5. The lady tries to retaliate but he knocks her out.
6. He tried hiding his actsoon as he realised people are going to come in.Well, how he dragged the lady still showed he was still angry than sorry.

Now, where the he'll are some people seeing a vicious attack from the lady? She barely touched him outside and that was response to his threatening in your face verbal assault.

I think people see the guys brown part of the cap and mistake it to be the girl attacking the guy first in the lift and that is not so.

This fvcken guy deserved the punishment because he tried to play the system and was caught.
Okay. Although i agree that he wasn't remorseful at all, i don't think he was the aggressor. Watching the video again showed that his response was disproportionate to her hers but still, she made initial contact.
Car Talk › Re: My Experience Along Benin- Ore Road by blank(f): 11:30am On Sep 11, 2014
My dad used to suffer from their hands. I used to think his benz was cursed. Once we get to Ore, wahala must dey no matter what side of the road we were on. There was even a day we spent a night in Ore. A terrible experience i tell you. It was in those days of no ATM so we had to carry one of those smelly guys back to Lagos to give him money. The day my dad wised up, he felt like pouring brimstone on them.

This trick is as old as the express itself. There was a time, they would throw rocks at your car just so that your windscreen will break and you will fall into their trap. Sometimes they pour nails on the road so that you will have a flat tire. They even dig up the road so that there will always be potholes.

Agriculture › Re: FG Set To Ban Hides And Skin “ponmon” by blank(f):
Silly reasoning.

If the livestock farmer sees greater gain in selling to tanneries, you think he won't do it? Assuming he is a rational consumer.

It's because the market is not there that is why they prefer the relatively lower yield than to wait for Godot.

Banning eating of ponmo will not increase the market for hides. Instead, it will lead to a glut, supply being higher than demand and will thus crash the price of leather. Except, he is referring to the export of such. That is another discussion altogether.

Not true. After death, the skin recedes and this gives the impression that nails and hair are growing.

Please, for mum's that are using silverbird, read the instructions on the packet. You will see that silverbird is not meant to come in contact with the skin at all. It is meant to be smelt by baby near him like on a ball of cotton wool or in a bowl of water if the baby is old enough. Do not drop anything on the soft part of baby's head, it leads to complications later in life.

Beautiful mums, let us be careful of a lot of practices that have been handed down. Before you do or use anything, read up about the good and the bad so you can make informed decisions.

orpeyearme: Please mothers, can I give my 6months old baby peak 123 to mix with her pap, n what other food can I give her. Thanks
Please DO NOT give your baby Peak 123. She is not old enough for that. Instead, mix formula for her with her pap or to drink. Give her adult food in bits so she can start appreciating it. Stuff like soup, very soft boiled rice, soft plantain, banana, etc. Just anything but still give her regular formula until she is about 1yr or 18 months. That will be her main nutrition while the other foods are just for her to start appreciating adult food.

nnekaogo: Please, what is mackintosh?
Its like the material that raincoats are made from. They sell it in the market depending on the size of material you require. You put it as a barrier before you put your bedsheet so liquids dont soil your bed.

There are several medical conditions that can cause it. @OP, is your husband on the fat side?
