RomanceRe: Do You Believe In A Lifelong Happy Marriage Between A Nigerian And An American? by Blatant: 4:32pm On Jan 31, 2008
RichyBlacK:
It's possible but difficult.

Today, the psyche of the typical American woman is not compatible with the traditional "till death do us part" kind of marriage.

Nigerian men are hard wired with the notion of roles in a marriage - the roles of the wife and the roles of the husband. The typical American woman is either unfamiliar with such roles or is familiar with and opposed to the entire notion of roles.

Many American women grew up in broken homes in which the idea "a lifelong happy marriage" has not been nurtured.

Most Nigerian men prefer to marry women in their twenties or early thirties, however, American women in their twenties are too immature for marriage, and so they're ready for marriage in their thirties and early forties. This age-maturity mismatch can be confusing for the typical Nigerian man.

Compared to Nigerian (or African/Caribbean) women, they do not mange stress very well.

Cases of anxiety, personality disorder, mental illness, etc. are more common among American women. This may be as a result of better health services that do a good job in managing these problems, with the unintended consequence of blurring the line between what we consider normal behavior and attitudes that are as a result of some form of mental illness. This ties into the higher propensity to use drugs (methamphetamine, heroine, ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine, etc.), probably as a means of coping with deep personality disorders, or as a path to some form of psychosis.
Good analysis.

abeg the thing no dey work. One girl say she sabi one couple. Only one couple out of the several thousandshuh what a statistic!
PoliticsRe: 419 And Nigerian Ethnicities by Blatant: 4:29pm On Jan 31, 2008
People go into 419 because they were not decently bred. They want to get rich quick!

OpeLovely:
I agree totally!!!!!! Charity begins at home. Its easy to sit back and criticise without looking at ourselves inwardly. When we throw pure water nylon of dirt outside, is it the govt that threw it therehuh And yet you expect the govt to clear it for you. We say our leaders steal, yet we visit them and ask for material demands that would make them steal. We say we need a honest leader, yet when a govt makes tough laws like using helmet for okada, fire extinguisher and Mot Test for cars, we complain. Even using seat belt is a burden to us. Getting into school, we bribe and sleep with authorities, we cheat during exams, we lie so much and even pretend to be like Americans!!

We should stop being hypocrites and do the right thing. Its only us that can move this country forward, no one else.
God bless you

I think OBAMA has shown that he does not want to play the race card.

he is a black man who happens to be running for the presidency.

1. He is Bi racial unlike any of his predecessor. his mother is white from rural kansas.

2. his father is from Africa
He is NOT a black man. He is bi-racial
SportsRe: Super Fowls Of Nigeria by Blatant: 5:00pm On Jan 28, 2008
Those fowls lack the passion and commitment it takes to represent one's country.
They are like most of us. We also do things for Nigeria (if we ever do) without passion and desire.

Our footballers are just like us in our daily lives.
Foreign AffairsRe: Was Nelson Mandela A Terrorist? by Blatant: 4:57pm On Jan 24, 2008
Aleksys:
Branding someone a terrorist depends on what side of the political aisle you are. Terrorism is everywhere today. It is not only when you fly a plane into some high rise buildings or when you detonate a bomb in the market place that you are classified as terrorist. We have economic terrorist, sex terrorist, moral terrorist, pyscological terrorist et al. There is terrorism going on in all spheres of our lives but because it is not violent does not mean they are not terrorism. History will classify our actions and inactions (passive terrorism) for what they are. Life is precious and should not be taken under any guise. Iraq war, Afghanistan, Sudan/Darfur, neo colonialism, foreign debts foisted on poor nations by rich nations, elected government of a nation that turn against the wish and the aspiration of its people, all these are terrorism unclassified. I think right now we need some divine intervention in this world to bring people back on the track of sanity. So help us God.
Yes. That is why George Bush is the number 1 terrorist alive today
SportsRe: Ghana 2008 Match: Nigeria Vs Mali by Blatant: 4:54pm On Jan 24, 2008
Those boys are typical 9ja boys. Dem believe say dem don arrive come dey do 'big man' style for field.  Other teams have players with a passion for their nation. They are used to acting big whenever they are in Africa and it follows them to the pitch when they play for their nation.

Our boys showed no such passion, it's so apparent in their lack lustre attitude to the game. They are no different from the average Nigerian person who has no passion for the nation. Those boys are just like most other Nigerians with no real desire or commitment to the Nigerian entity.

If I am president of Nigeria, I will incapacitate every adult Nigerian because they are ALL thieves. Then we will start a proper re-orientation of the young ones

Somebody said that Nigerians are mostly thieves-in-waiting and I agree with him/her.

RomanceRe: Advantages Of Polygamy? by Blatant: 4:46pm On Jan 23, 2008
oyb:
in the west, when a so inclined man makes it, he dumps his wife and marries a trophy wife (sort of like trading in your 2001 benz for a 2007 benz). in nigeria, he marries a second wife and the first wife fades into the background. there's your advantage. at least in africa, where ploygamy is not a crime, the woman's welfare is in less jeopardy since she is still married to the man.
True.

In the west, the women will divorce when they want to have other men and there are always excuses for such actions.

OK. maybe we should tell men to divorce before marrying any other woman. Then we will have more rejected women for playing men to play around with grin
RomanceRe: Advantages Of Polygamy? by Blatant: 3:29pm On Jan 23, 2008
YES. we should ban polygamy but allow men and women to fuk anyone they like just like they do abroad and if they get caught, the women can just say their men dont give them enough attention or that they have fallen 'in love' with someone else.

What's the difference between polygamists and those who fuk around abroad?

make I hear word jare
PoliticsRe: Where Is The Justice? by Blatant: 1:11pm On Jan 23, 2008

PoliticsRe: Why Nigeria Will Never Progress by Blatant: 3:21pm On Jan 04, 2008
@ Poster

Nigeria cant progress because Nigerians are all seeking any means to gain material wealth even if involves destroying the fabric of the nation. We are so eager to make immediate wealth that we do not think about the future. In our 'smartness', we have become stupid.

When we all decide to shun illegalities and only celebrate real achievements (not necessarily financial), we will probably be able to say we have taken a first step in the right direction.

My dear Nigerians, the more i read about Naija, the more i understnd the mentality of a typical Nigerian.
The spokesman to the president is a typical Nigerian, there is no excuse over the presidency action on this Ribadu issue. If the president is actually a graduate, what stops him from read through the relevant Acts/Statues before approving and signing a bloody memo from the IGP.
My submission is,Mr president is not in tune with modern day Nigeria.OBJ is still better in terms of selecting good hand into his administration.
The first bad egg in this administration is Kingibe, then AGF(the degrace to the legal profession).
Please tell me Baba Gana Kingibe is not in Government. Hopefully, it's another Kingibe you're talking about. Baba Gana kingibe helped in no small measure in the destruction of the Nigerian economy several years ago

PoliticsRe: How Nigerians Are Abused In China. by Blatant: 2:58pm On Jan 04, 2008
Perhaps we should all start rebuking those we know who contribute to the damage that the country recieves all around the world. Even as a Nigerian, I am very defensive whenever I come across other Nigerians here. We are very notorious for all the wrong reasons.

Everyone should try and ensure no one they know is involved in illegalities. it will surely be a good start. Many of us are always too willing to celebrate anything, no matter how illegal it may be.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu Blackmails The FGN by Blatant: 2:53pm On Jan 04, 2008
I am not well informed about goings on there but did Ribadu discharge his duties without fear or favour? If he did it wothout favouring anyone or group, then Nigerians should rise up in his defence
