JMAN05: I ve heard that position before. however, I think that is not consistent with the rest of the scriptures. For example, talking about the law being done away with, see what Roms 7:6,7 says
"But now we have been released from the Law, because we have died to that which restrained us, in order that we might be slaves in a new sense by the spirit and not in the old sense by the written code. 7 What, then, are we to say? Is the Law sin? Certainly not! Really, I would not have come to know sin had it not been for the Law. For example, I would not have known covetousness if the Law had not said: “You must not covet."
Paul gave the example of the law we were released from. it includes the ten commandment.
All the commandments in the law are still part of the law that if you fail one, you fail all. Jesus did mention that the second greatest commandment is love for neighbor (matt 22:39). Is that command part of the 10 commandments? So, you are implying that in the future, love for neighbor, the second greatest, will be done away with? That is just one, their many beautiful commandments in the law that are not of the 10.
All these are part of the commands done away with. like, i said before, it does not mean that its principles are not relevant today. it is.
matt 22:39 You make me laugh. all you do is cut and join Bible verses without making consistent points. Please define Sin? |

JMAN05: verse 27 answers, "Law of faith". Christians are declared righteous by this law of faith, which is also the law of Christ. verse 28 explands by stating that it is not by works, ie, works of the mosaic law, but by faith. verses 29, and 30 shows that it is by this law of faith that someone uncircumcised is declared righteous. That would be against the law had the law been in force.
I know, and part of James point is that they were not obeying the love of neighbor law. (see verse but that law is not part of the ten. It is even more important than the others mentioned there. Yet, you cant observe neighborly love in isolation of the other laws mentioned there. Which one is neighborly love? So you do not know that the two new commandments Jesus gave to love God and ones Neighbor are tied to the 10commandments and they are eternal? Matthew 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. How can you obey God and love your neighbor without obeying the 10commandments? The only evidence of you loving God is by you know using his name in vain, bowing to other gods, keeping the sabbath. Also the only evidence that you love your neighbor is that you so not lie against your neighbor, steal, kill, covert your neighbors wife .e.t.c As you can see the love commandments has the 10commandments as its foundation and God is love hence it can never be done away with. |

Maximus69: Have you ever been specific for once?
Since your Church has adopted the TRINITY, you've become a fugitive with no specific FAITH!
So can you give a better explanation about the destination of the righteous?
Because God created humans and said earth is their home {Psalms 115:16} and Jesus promised to take his friends to heaven {John 14:1-4} So Mr fugitive, present a better correlation between the two ideas if you're saying Jehovah's Witnesses aren't 100% correct. You are confused. Check my blog for articles on trinity. Earth is the home of the righteous but God promised that he would recreate the Heavens and the Earth. The righteous would have access to both Earth and Heaven just like Adam and Eve had before the sinned. It was sin that separated Heaven from Earth. Jesus is right to promise his followers Heaven as well as Earth because the righteous would have free access to both. |

Peacefullove: Psalm 104:29 is still there for you. Infact Ecc 3:19 says man and animals have the same spirit.
To burst your lies , Some translation uses breath but went ahead to indicate in their footnotes that it means *Spirit
God himself have soul
Isaiah 42:1 Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;
I guess another entity lives inside God ? The word Soul there means mind, thoughts, The word soul in the bible can mean 3different things. 1.A living being 2.The mind, thinking, ones physce 3.. it can also mean life or breathe. |

Peacefullove: Man has a physical being is a Flesh and Blood creature. In a statement of Yeshua he said To Peter Flesh and Blood did not reveal it to you which means no human reveal it to you .
So the same Bible says Flesh and Blood cannot inherit Kingdom of God, is the new heaven a Kingdom of God or not ? How will ressurection now mean giving dead people fresh body of flesh and blood to live in heaven ? The just will be transformed during the resurrection, there human mortal bodies will be changed to immortal bodies and then they will be take to Heaven. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 New International Version (NIV) For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. |

shadeyinka: Interestingly, both the good and the evil, the righteous and the unrighteous will be ressurected.
The reason is because God had designed man to be a trinity of Body, Soul and Spirit and live as one eternally. Otherwise, if consciousness exists after death, there wouldn't be a need for another resurrection. True |

"25Jesus said unto her, I AM The Resurrection and The Life (i.e. I AM the one who brings people back to life, and I AM life itself) he that believes in Me, though he is dead, yet shall he live; 26Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die--ever. Do you believe this?" (i.e. And everyone who lives because of faith in Me will never really die. Do you believe this?)" - John 11:25-26
"12If we have told you that Christ has been brought back to life, how can some of you say that coming back from the dead is impossible? 13If the dead can't be brought back to life, then Christ hasn't come back to life. 14If Christ hasn't come back to life, our message has no meaning and your faith also has no meaning. 15In addition, we are obviously witnesses who lied about God because we testified that he brought Christ back to life. But if it's true that the dead don't come back to life, then God didn't bring Christ back to life. 16Certainly, if the dead don't come back to life, then Christ hasn't come back to life either. 17If Christ hasn't come back to life, your faith is worthless and sin still has you in its power. 18Then those who have died as believers in Christ no longer exist. 19If Christ is our hope in this life only, we deserve more pity than any other people. 20But now Christ has come back from the dead. He is the very first person of those who have died to come back to life. 21Since a man brought death, a man also brought life back from death. 22As everyone dies because of Adam, so also everyone will be made alive because of Christ. 23This will happen to each person in his own turn. Christ is the first, then at His coming, those who belong to him [will be made alive]. 24Then the end will come. Christ will hand over the kingdom to God the Father as he destroys every ruler, authority, and power. " - 1 Corinthians 15:12-24
First and foremost, for the above comment somebody give blueAgent a chilled bottle of orijin plus a truckload of kolanuts and make blueAgent governor of his/her state of origin
Now about the thread's heading and question. Why there is a resurrection, in simple terms, is because the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour of the world Jesus Christ plays a pivotal role in propping up our faith in and/or assurance of victory over death. The resurrection bears testament to John 10:17-18 seen above. It proves that the whole essence of Jesus Christ, is not some empty talk, and that the resurrection serves, as a typical example of walk-the-talk.
"1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them" - Revelation 21:1-3
In light of Revelation 21:1-3 above, you still have the guts, to be proof-texting again, with you comparing Ecclesiastes 3:11 and Psalms 115:16 to make a quasi point with, hmm Maximus69 Sorry to say it, but this is the first time you are ever making sense. |

Maximus69: The resurrection is God's plan to reward the loyal ones (righteous) and those who only lived by conscience without formal knowledge of the true God, these ones God referred to as unrighteous!
Both will be resurrected back to life on planet earth NOT heaven! Act 24:15
God's original purpose for mankind is to live FOREVER on this planet, that's why all those faithful servants of God always talked about their hope of living again ON EARTH! Psalms 37:9-11, 29, Proverbs 2:20-21, Isaiah 65:21-25
But why did the story changed after the coming of Jesus the one called (Messiah)?
God's plan is for a government to be led by a PERFECT incorruptible human who will lead all obedient humans back to God {Isaiah 9:6-7} there is none of Adam's descendants who qualifies for this {Psalms 49:7-9} so God has to transform one of his angelic sons into an embryo and put him in the womb of a Jewish virgin.
This perfect man will ©Teach humans what God had in mind for creating them. ©Assemble a governing body in Jerusalem (the city where God chose for the sit of his government) ©Lay down his perfect human life as a ransom sacrifice for the sin brought upon humans by Adam. ©Resurrected and go back to his own home in heaven where he came from. ©His government will see to it that the earth is filled with the accurate knowledge of God. ©Disobedient ones will be exterminated by the resurrected Christ who will lead the angels in heaven to come and destroy all the enemies of God.
But Jerusalem has been profaned with the blood of so many faithful servants of God, the Jews kept killing all those sent to help them return to God's favour of having this government on their soil. Matthew 23:37-38
So Jesus begged his father for him to secure a place in heaven for this governing body who will be selected amongst his loyalists. John 17:1-26
Even Jesus' followers were devastated when he pronounced woe on Jerusalem (the place where they expected to stay and rule with him) that's why he revealed them the new plan! John 14:1-4, 15:15
That's how the idea of going to heaven became part of the plan, God will select only amongst the Christians who have been taught by his only begotten son to rule in heaven with the Christ.
Jesus said "of all those born by women there has never risen a man greater than John the baptist but the least in the kingdom is greater than John" Matthew 11:11
This is so because John the baptist was the last prophet who saw and baptized the promised Messiah, but since he was not oppotuned to live as one of his students he can't be part of those going to heaven, his reward will be that of all other faithful servants of God before him which is a resurrection on planet earth.
John will be the greatest for two main reason!
First he is the one and only prophet who saw God's anointed one (Messiah) face to face, secondly John will be the only person who will tell us how Jesus really look like, his behaviour, his mother, brothers and sisters and so many other things we might wish to know about the man Jesus, because all the first century Christians who walked with Jesus were BORN AGAIN, meaning they're all going to heaven.
And none of those who live with him yet failed to believe in him will be resurrected back to life, they have been judged already {John 3:18} except the THIEF with whom Jesus personally made a promised of living in Paradise!
Thanks! There is no proof in the Bible for all this theory and guess work you wrote here. |

Such principles are still valid. But after Christ's death, the law ended. Col 2:14 helps us see this, 'Christ nailed it through his death'. verses 16 to 17 stated that none should be judged on the requirements of the law again. It is just a shadow. Christ is the realty. It was after his death all these happened.
When someone has fulfilled the law, what need is there for the law? Will christ come back to refulfill it? Jesus didnt come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. Yes, while Jesus was alive, he didnt disobey the law. He lived by it, that was the was to fulfill it. The principles found in the law is still good for us all. However, it has lost its authority as a means to weigh righteousness. But we can learn something from it even today.
There are principles in the law that is of interest to us all. However, had that man continually followed Jesus, he would come to know when the law finally ended. Jesus could even at that time state that any who follow him be circumcised. But later, that was no longer required. why? because Jesus death ended the law. Remember if you adhere to the law as a means for justification, you are obligated to keep every single pin of that law. Not just the weekly sabbath, but even other more that 7 sabbatical system. Do you keep all those? Stop confusing yourself the 7sabbatical Sabbaths were not part of the 10commandments hence they were done away with the death of Jesus. but the 10commandments were written by the finger of God and are eternal. Is there anytime in this life or another that bowing to idols and other gods or using the name of God in vain would stop been sin? If the answer is no than why is the sabbath commandment different? Does man have the power to change God's law or pick the one he wishes to obey or not? |

Paul stated that Christ is the end of the law, he continued by saying that anyone exercising faith may have righteousness. If you check verse 5, you ll notice that Paul quoted the law. That portion quoted conveys the sense that you can be righteous if you observe ALL the laws. However, the law of faith has a different slogan. That by such confession of faith in Christ, one can be saved. Now, not saved by obeying the Law, but saved by the law of faith. Paul drew a contrast from the law and faith. He was not linking the two. This agrees with the conclusion that telos there should be translated "end". This explanation is wrong and totally contradictory. |

Christianity Etc › Why Is There A Resurrection? by blueAgent(op): 3:52pm On Feb 03, 2020 |
Resurrection is defined as the raising of dead back to life . The resurrection of the dead is paramount and central to Christ teachings and God's plan for Man's salvation. When Adam and Eve sinned against God, they brought death upon humanity( for the wages of sin is death) Christ by his death has earned us eternal life which necessicitate or require the resurrection. IMPORTANTANCE OF THE RESSURECTION. 1. It is the hope of the saints and believers. Paul taught the early christains that our faith and believe in Christ would be in vain if there was no hope of resurrection. This raises a valid question if the saints are in Heaven as soon as they die why do we then hope for the resurrection. The truth is that there is no reward in death, the dead in Christ are asleep they are not in Heaven or conscious or alive in any way but are totally asleep just as the Bible says. Psalm104:29,psalm146:4,Eccl9:5-6,Job14:12.
In Paul's words if our hope in this life is only in Christ without the hope of resurrection which only Christ can give then we are of all men most miserable 1cor15:29-end,Acts 2:26.
2.The reward for believers: Christ promised to raise those who believe in him on the last day, so resurrection is the reward of the believers john6:40.
3.A point of physical transformation:God would not permit us to enter Heaven with our tinted and weak bodies (human nature). God has promised the saints that they will receive incorruptible body and nature at the resurrection.the resurrected saints will be like Christ. David look forth to this day as he wrote in Psalms 17:15,1cor 15:1-end.
4. A point of punishment for the unbeliever's: People have been erroneously taught that the soul and spirits of the unjust is cast into Hell, this is unbibilcal. If the soul or spirit of the dead is what is punished in Hell then there would have not be need for the resurrection of the unjust, the Bible is clear on this subject, the just and unjust will be resurrected judged and rewarded according to their works. The unjust body will be cast into the lake of fire the whole body will be destroyed or killed the 2nd time the Bible calls this the second death.Jesus taught his disciples on this.Rev20:12,john5:28, Dan 12:2,Nahum 1:9-10.
5.Resurrection is a sign of Christ victory over sin and death.
6.Resurrection is part of God's plan for salvation of man this was made manifest through Christ's death and resurrection,1Corinthians15:23-26,Luke20:35-38,John6:54.
7.Resurrection is a consequences of Man's fall that brought death and Christ sacrifice that brought eternal life, hence the resurrection 1cor25:22, 2cor15:42.
8.Resurrection is a mark or seal to distinguish the just and the unjust, The Bible states that their will be two resurrection. The first resurrection which is the resurrection of the just and the second which occurs 1000yrs after the first and is called the resurrection of the unjust. Rev20:4-7,Rev20:12-15, john5:28-29.
In Conclusion. As we have seen and learnt the resurrection is central to God's plan for man's redemption, without the resurrection our faith is in vain and as Apostle Paul puts it we are of all men most miserable. Thank God for his wonderful plan and Jesus who made it possible through his death and victory. To God be all glory and honour.
Thank you for reading. |

JMAN05: Are you saying that in heaven, there will be Saturday in God's heavenly calendar? And that the calendar will cater for about 11 sabbatical systems? I don't think so. The statement is figurative of constant worship of God even in His new system of things.
Of course, Jesus course on Earth was to fulfill the law. After his death the law had been fulfilled. If the law is not out of the way now, we would wonder if Jesus would be coming to fulfill it a second time.
Romans 10:4 says that Christ is the end of the law. What do you understand by that? Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. We are commanded to teach and obey the law this proves that Jesus did not fulfill the law to abolish it. Same Jesus told a man to go and keep the law in order to inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? |

Of course, Jesus course on Earth was to fulfill the law. After his death the law had been fulfilled. If the law is not out of the way now, we would wonder if Jesus would be coming to fulfill it a second time.
Romans 10:4 says that Christ is the end of the law. What do you understand by that? https://lifehopeandtruth.com/bible/law-and-grace/christ-is-the-end-of-the-law/ |

Romans 10:4 says that Christ is the end of the law. What do you understand by that? I UCG.org / Bible Study Tools / Booklets / The New Covenant: Does It Abolish God's Law? / What Did Paul Mean by 'Christ Is the End of the Law'? What Did Paul Mean by 'Christ Is the End of the Law'? Add to my study list Paul uses telos in Romans 10:4 to convey that the objective or goal of the law—the "aim or purpose" of it—is to point us to the mind and character of Jesus Christ. n Romans 10:4 , Paul’s words are translated: “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” Regrettably, most translators render the Greek word telos simply as “end” instead of giving Paul’s intended meaning of that word in this context. Reasoning incorrectly that faith makes the law void, they have adopted an illogical assumption that Paul plainly rejected in Romans 3:31 . This passage reads: “Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” To discover the proper translation of a word that can be used in more than one way, its context has to be understood correctly before any effort is made to determine the right nuance of meaning that the author intended. Here is a simple example. One might ask a college student, “To what end are you attending college?” The word “end” in that context would refer to the “objective” or “goal” the student has in mind. Receiving a degree would be only the “end result” of his college years of learning, not the end to his ability or desire to learn. The Greek word telos, translated “end” in Romans 10:4 , can convey variations in meaning, including “ ‘the aim or purpose’ of a thing” ( Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, 1985, “End, Ending”). This is very clear in the New King James Version’s rendering of 1 Timothy 1:5 , where telos is properly translated as purpose in the clause “the purpose of the commandment is love.” In this same verse the NRSV translates telos as “aim” and the NIV renders it as “goal.” Paul uses telos in Romans 10:4 to convey that the objective or goal of the law—the “aim or purpose” of it—is to point us to the mind and character of Jesus Christ ( Galatians 4:19 ; Philippians 2:5 ). Jesus Christ, the living Word of God, is a perfect replica of what God’s law teaches. Pointing us to His character and work is the “aim” of the law. Rendering of telos as “end” in Romans 10:4 distorts Paul’s intended meaning—something Peter forcefully warns us not to do ( 2 Peter 3:15-16 ). |

Romans 10:4 says that Christ is the end of the law. What do you understand by that? Yes The sabbath was instituted by God before the fall of Man. it Was God who gave us our 7days a week calendar so Saturday will exist. Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. You will agree that the 7thday in this verse is not figurative. How can fulfill mean to abolish? Will that not make Jesus a liar. because that same Jesus said he has not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. What is the sense in saying I have not come to abolish the law but to abolish it. It means that Christ |

JMAN05: Now that will take us to whether Christians should observe the mosaic law. I believe the law is out of the way.
For now, the Bible didn't stipulate any rest day for Christians, nor a special worship day as we can see in Judaism. We worship our God any day depending on the land you find us. Some do there's on Saturday and on Thursdays per week others Sunday and any other day.
We don't view our worship on weekends as more important than the one on week days. They are all worship.
Remember my point: I don't think we should join in any festival that has pagan origin and still maintains that significance till date. First you need to ask yourself why Jesus had to die. Why was it impossible for man to be saved without Christ dieing ? https://www.nairaland.com/5624496/law-god-law-medes-persiansIf the sabbath day does not matter how come we will still observe it in Heaven? Isaiah 66:23. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. |

Maximus69: That's exactly what i've been telling you since!
Jesus is the new law that all earthly servants of God must keep in their hearts! Romans 10:4
If you can't find LOVE actively working in your midst, it simply means your religious group have failed woefully in keeping God's commandments that's in Christ Jesus our Lord! Romans 8:38-39
So stop and have a rethink because Satan has BLINDED billions making them think they're keeping God's LAW, yet that sign "LOVE" which is the proof of what they claim is missing in their midst! 2Corinthians 4:4 You are just hidding the truth with stories and misconception of what God wants from us. Matthew 5:19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The law is still valid and we are told to teach people about it. These are Jesus own words. Love does not define or proceed God's law rather it is God's law that help us prove our love for God or our fellow man. |

JMAN05: Pls check that link I gave above. I have edited it. I have not seen your prove of pagan origin of Sunday worship.

Maximus69: You claim to be a Christian, so apply the logic to the church you attend FIRST. If your Church isn't in harmony with that then know that you're NOT worshiping in the midst of TRUE Christians!
LOVE is the predominant attribute of the Almighty God! 1John 4:8 There are other attributes like POWER, JUSTICE, WISDOM.
So you may found religious groups practicing the HYPOCRITICAL LOVE, but it can never be as sound and widely notable like those practicing the LOVE taught by Christ!
People may have reasons for avoiding wars, but it can never be widely notable like that of Christ's followers!
POWER is the ability to do WORK. So God's people will be noticed by their activeness and efficiency in God's work!
JUSTICE is doing things orderly without nepotism. God's people will treat all adherents equally no matter their financial status, physical capability or race.
WISDOM means the ability to convince other right thinking persons to willingly join you in doing what is beneficial for all. So God's people will attract faithful people to join them in doing God's work! Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. The reason you are on Earth is to keep the commandments of God not showing love. Love is the product of keeping God's commandments. when you keep God's commandments love fellows immediately. |

JMAN05: I don't think so. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Sunday-day-of-week.
However, we do worship God irrespective of the day. Than you are observing pagan day and tradition. God gave you a special day written with his finger and you feel you can change it. Google on the truth about the origin of Sunday worship. |

Amujale: Much of the material currently available have been salvaged by African historians working round the clock in order to ascertain the accuracy of their findings.
Furthermore, one has to understand that the reason behind the situation of the lack of tons and tons of books written by ancient African historians is due to the draconian policy of burning of books and literature sometimes the destruction of libraries on the continent adopted by both Christianity and Islam.
Nevertheless, modern day African historians arent phased as they have been able to methodically, analytically as well as making use of scientific techniques, reconstruct out of the available secular history all that was thought to have been destroyed by the liars and the fakers.
And now, African history is rightfully restored to its towering glory by the modern day pro-African academics, scholars and historians.
Our job is to mine these findings and make great use of them in order to make the world a better place for us and the coming generations. Keep dreaming. |
