You are right. Parts of Lagos and Aba are super-filthy (i've lived in both places) but the at least 18 other Nigerian cities i've visited or lived in have areas that are as dirty as the poster describes. People just don't care about proper sanitation. indiscriminate noseblowing, spitting, littering, etc. My greatest fear during the SARS epidemic in China was that it should not spread to naija because we'll all be wiped out in a week max.

huh?

Even where waste bins are provided, many people ignore them. ATM machine sites are a case in point. Eateries are another.

we go die if we build our own toilets? Government this, government that.  Ariaria market, Aba, as big as it is, suffers terrible flooding whenever it rains and all those millionaire traders literally sit on stools in the flood waters rather than rally together to solve their problems.

are all these Nigerians peeing and shitting in the streets camping? I saw a fully grown man shyting at the gate of UCH, Ibadan. He looked sane enough, dressed for work. I saw fully grown men performing the same exercise at the bus stop in Idumota. could hardly believe my eyes. Seun, were they camping?

post that as a new topic and you'll get my two cents then grin

Nairaland should be a medium for sharing views and fostering unity among people, I can't understand why Seun always features threads offensive to the North on the home page angry. Imagine if all the rotten news that comes from the s, Let me save that for another.

I think this is an important part of the article. wink wink wink
Ditto, trust some people to weed out the benefits and dwell on the "low points". Mostly, its because they don't know JACK about the issue, so they attack evthing else. How convenient.

Reese1:
Whoa, Why Iran though?!?! Let's just assume there's great, honorable intentions all around, but WHY FREAKING IRAN?! Gosh, Nigerian leaders and their judgment, or lack of  huh
Trust me, very few countries will want to share their nuclear secrets/knowledge with another country, especially Nigeria. (Russia has interest in Irans resources, thats why they are offering assistance, somthin like Shell & Niger delta)

iceland:
Well,I don't trust those arabians popularly known as white hausa. They are not trustworthy. They could be looking for a way to conceal their nuclear weapons in Nigeria.Well it takes a black hausa to sign a deal with a white hausa.they are "MOLAS" in general.

The guy dey preach to the babe, hes actually quite knowledgeable on the bible; she seems like an atheist; "the bible is the words of men", "I have another name for God"(Oprahs religion) etc etc

Seems like Nigerians have a peculiar way of shoving things down peoples' throats. . . undecided

Witchcraft is REAL, Voodoo is REAL

I am not saying the claims of the accusers are true, it's typical of a nigerian in trouble to try to evade responsibility.

What i am saying is that the line between the supernatural and natural should not be blurred. That is, the claim of the

okada man of shape shifting should not be a basis of denying the existence of the supernatural. Shikena!

All talk, no action. Typical.

@ Ibime

The yorubas say "what an elder sees sitting down, a child on a tree will not see". You think because you have hit

intellectual maturity, you are the only one that has thought of seccesion? You and everyone on this thread knows we

are merely airing our opinions, until you get to the top, your opinion really doesn't matter.

Imagine the mess, unbridled show of shame that is the Truth & Reconciliation Commission holding in Rivers State &

beamed on national T.V. Commisioner and students playing "wayo" on each other over common scholarship - to

Malaysia of all places. You will sooner kill yourselves than form an independent state. Who is going to inhabit the yoruba

state when 40% of you are scattered around the world?

TV/MoviesRe: Banned By House Of Reps: Big Brother Africa In Dilemma by BluMalam(op): 12:13pm On Jul 19, 2008
Their argument, as far as i'm concerned, holds NO water.

Nobody is being forced to watch the show, it has a dedicated channel and has an age restriction. DStv decoders have a PG feature which can be enabled at will. The broadcast of the "daily show" by Local TV stations can be banned, but leave me and my decoder!

It is most annoying when the truth is these Reps have SKY and other satellite platforms where they can watch International Big Brother's. Besides, we see worse in weekend tabloids.

Imagine, whats BBA without shower Hour!? grin
TV/MoviesBanned By House Of Reps: Big Brother Africa In Dilemma by BluMalam(op): 11:57am On Jul 19, 2008
NIGERIA may have put this year’s episode of the Television Reality Show, Big Brother Africa, in jeopardy following its insistence on rejecting the broadcast of the three months programme in any part of the country.

The House of Representatives had in 2007 placed a ban on the TV Reality Show beamed across the world from South Africa and sponsored by Muti-Choice Communications in protest against the heavily salacious images known with Big Brother Africa.

The ban came about following a motion sponsored by the House of Representatives Committee on Communications headed by Honourable Dino Melaye seeking to block the broadcast of the programme from the Nigerian air space.

The motion had complained against the permission of nudity of among House mates in Big Brother, even as the inmates had the free will to engage in sexual acts, a practice considered by the lawmakers as “barbaric, obscene, unethical and un-African.

The outrage expressed by members of the House against Big Brother Africa emanated from the manner by which a Nigerian girl; Ofuneka, was defiled after being lured into a lurid sexual with the influence of alcohol by a fellow House mate, even as the images of the sexual act were broadcast live and watched in many Nigerian homes.

Ofuneka, considered as having the brightest chances of winning the prize in Big Brother scad came second at the end of the TV reality show, prompting Nigerians who were familiar with the trend of award tricks by Big Brother to accuse the organizers as utterly biased.

Some Nigerians believed that the orgy of sexual act thrown in the way of Ofuneka was the reason she could not win the $100,000 prize offered by the sponsors, as the man who lured her into committing the open sin eventually carted home the entire amount.

A Nigerian who participated in an earlier version of Big Brother before Ofuneka also fell short of winning the $100,000 cash prize having came closer to doing so. That had prompted the audience in Nigeria to believe that the Big Brother is all about regional politics.

Not happy with its inability to air the next episode of Big Brother in Nigeria, Multi-Choice Communications had however, begun intense lobbying around the corridors of power with intent to committing the authorities into accepting to lift the ban on the broadcast.

The House of Representatives had however, agreed to lift the ban on the airing of Big Brother, but with a clause that it should not allow any salacious or sexual scene among the House mates, a condition which Multi-Choice appeared not keen about accepting.

The communication company had from the start of this week, intensified lobby in convincing the House of Representatives members from releasing the Nigerian air space for the broadcast of the TV reality show.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune, the House Committee Chairman on Communication, Honourable Dino Melaye, said Nigeria would not change its mind on the ban.

He reiterated that the programme could only be aired in the country provided Multi- Choice would leave out unethical scenes including open cuddling, nuzzling, smoking and sexual acts by House mates.

The argument by the sponsors of Big Brother Africa for not accepting that condition, Saturday Tribune learnt was that the essence of the reality show would have been defeated if such licentious scenes were left out.

The reality show was initially scheduled to begin last month as advertised, whereas the delay in the broadcast has been the making of the mindset of the government of Nigeria on the broadcast. Nigeria is considered the biggest catchment for the television programme by Multi-Choice.

Why not try to be positive in thought, this Senator, so far, is the only person that has proposed a plan of action 4 d proposed "state of emergency" in the power sector. He could as well be indifferent and enjoy his heavy duty generator with diesel paid by d government, or hop on the next flight to his Chateau in France.
PoliticsRe: President Yar'adua Should Resign! by BluMalam(m): 4:45pm On Jul 11, 2008
I can swear all the people that say Yar'adua did not perform as governor have not been to kaduna, not to talk of katsina state. Look, if Yar'adua serves for EIGHTY years, he cannot do as much damage that obasanjo did.

Do you know that Yar'adua is the FIRST President in history to publicly declare his assets on assumption of office? One and a half years in office and you expect Nigeria to turn to a shangri-la. If you have noticed, a better part of the 1 and half years was spent in reversal of Obj's injurious policies, and booting out his foot soldiers (e.g Ribadu).

This man is so internationally respected (check out the recent G8 summit) and tell me, which past president has ever attempted an electoral reform of an entity that produced him (INEC). C'mon guyz, cut Musa some slack.
