Ever heard about Tongo Tongo ambush in October, last two years (2017) in the Niger Republic?

Well, it claimed the lives of even some American soldiers. That is to tell you that ambush is still a warfare tactic employed all over the world, and its efficiency is still significant.

So, stop being ignorant. Any troop, even American troops, can be ambushed. In 1993, they were ambushed by a ragtag army of Somali fighters, and they lost some men.

which violent? how many towns was seized by bokoharam when Buhari was elected? you're just too dumb to understand northern politics or perhaps you're northerner

nothing like Bokoharam, Bandits and Fulani herdsmen, they're all northerners political wings used for political game. these people don't care if they get themselves killed for any political game. if they can killed themselves because of religion that bring nothing to their table then how much less politics that's bringing Niger delta oil

North war are scams, I pity any southerners joining force this time
You are deluded.

So, Boko Haram is a mere Northerners' political wing that is busy destroying their own lands? One would expect that a Northern political wing would be more interested in protecting Northern interest. Please, what political games are Boko Haram playing? What points are they making by killing their own kinsmen and even targeting the palace of the Shehu of Borno?

You are the one who knows absolutely nothing about Northern politics. If you know Northern politics very well, you will know that they protect their own interests first. Do you know what led to the Riots in Kaduna and Jos in the 1950s and 1940s respectively.

Now, go back and read about the causes of Boko Haram, their affiliations with ISIS, and tell me what political games they are playing.

gidgiddy:
Cant you see how laughable what you are saying is? That Northerners had a different reason for killing Igbos in 1945, 1953 and 1966. What if Igbos had retaliated and killed Northerners in in the East in 1945 and 1953? Or you think that retaliation is only for Northerners? They have been killings Igbos for a long time, even to.this day. Even if the January 1966 coup had not happened, they would still found a reason to kill Igbos.

All these killings only hoes to show that "one Nigeria" is a sham

The cause of the civil war was Gowon. It was Gowon that signed and agreement in Aburi to preserve the 4 Regional structure of Nigeria and it was Gowon who announced decree 14 of 1967 where he abolished the 4 Regional structure and created 12 states. This was the beginning of "divide and rule" which the North still uses to dominate Nigeria. Today, the 12 states Gowon created has been further divided to 36 states.

What many people dont realise is that the Regional structure prevented the North from dominating Nigeria, that's why Gowon scrapped it. The only problem for the North was that Igbos were not about to take it lying down.

Gowon caused the war by reneging on the Aburi agreement he signed
Your perspective is what is laughable.

You don't know the difference between a genocide and a riot.

Genocides are systematic or intentional mob actions targeted at a specific ethnic or religious group. Riots are not that deeply planned.

Riot can happen quickly, but genocides take planning and even strategies.

The Kano riot, for instance, was targeted at Yorubas. The mob was chanting Yoruba as they burst into Sabon Gari, but Igbos ended up with the major casualties.

As for retaliation, how many Hausa-Fulanis were in Igboland prior to Independence, and the Civil War? Aside the nomadic Fulanis, the other major Northern extractions were not known travelers, at least not as much as the Igbos.

Moreover, Ojukwu had ambitions, and uncontrolled reprisal attacks were not one of them. His ambitions were greater than that. It all began when Gowon became his senior in the military, and his boss as well.

Remember that Gowon and Ojukwu were same rank in the military before Gowon became Head of State.

Long before Ojukwu I evaded Benin, the war had already started. The Nigerian Army were already on Ogoja and Portharcourt before then

The war started on 6th July 1967 when Nigerian troops invaded the Biafran border town of Gakem in Ogoja. Ojukwu invaded the the Midwest around September/October of that year.
The war unofficially began when Ojukwu announced a secession. So, Nigeria launched a police action to retake Biafra.

So, technically, it was Ojukwu who first declared war on Nigeria.

As I said before, they dont teach Nigerian history in Schools so that people like you can live in ignorance. So you think that the killing of Igbos was because of the Nzeogwu coup? Igbos were being killed long before that. The Jos massacre of 1945 and the Kano killings of 1953 are two examples of Northerners killing Igbos, long before there was any coup.

The simple question is, what caused the civil war? Ojukwu and Gowon had a meeting in Aburi Ghana and agreed on 12 points, some of which you mentioned above. In return for Ojukwu recognising Gowon as head of state and the Eastern Region remaining loyal to Nigeria, Gowon had to implement the 12 points agreed upon. Of the 12 points agreed, the most important was that Gowon would not change the 4 Regional structure of Nigeria unless all 4 military Governors of the time agreed with him. On the 26th of May 1967, Gowon, without consulting anybody, announced decree 14 which abolished the 4 Regional structure and replaced it with 12 states. Having broken the most important point of the Aburi agreement, representatives of the Eastern Nigeria consultative forum that represented the 20 provinces that made up the Eastern Region, met in Enugu on the 28th of May and voted for the Eastern Region to be a separate country. Ojukwu declared Biafra 2 days later and the Gowon declared war. It was after Gowon had declared war on Ojukwu that Ojukwu boasted he would win.

The important thing to note in this story is that Gowon caused the war.

It was Gowon that broke the Aburi agreement which left Ojukwu with no choice than to declare Biafra

It was also Gowon who first declared war
Igbos like playing the victim's card.

One of the causes of the Civil War is the January 1966 coup adjudged an Igbo coup, and with good reasons too. Many Northern soldiers were killed as if it had been planned, and not one single Igbo official or military personnel lost their lives.

The riots of Kano and Jos have absolutely no bearing on the Civil War. Even the riot of Kano was targeted at Yorubas, but Igbos suffered the brunt.

If you check history, you will see that the Northerners had problems at different times with Southerners and not necessarily with Igbos as a tribe.

In 1945, in Jos, they had problems with self-rule promoted by Igbo leaders. In 1953, in Kano, they had problems with Yoruba leaders. Igbos were merely unfortunate casualties.

But the massacre of 1966 was due to the January 1966 coup. And it was further worsened when Igbos in Kano went about provoking the natives of the land by mocking the death of Ahmadu Bello.

There is nothing to understand better in the nonsense that FFK spewed.

Ojukwu should take all the blames for whatever happened to those children and women that starved to death.

First, he went into a war he was totally unprepared for. Do you know that as at the time Ojukwu called for secession and dared a police action, he didn't have one single gun to give to his men?

Do you also know that Ojukwu was the one who allowed Biafrans to starve to death?

This was what Robert Goldstein said while resigning from the job that Ojukwu gave him during the war:

"I cannot in all conscience serve you any longer. Nor can I be a party to suppressing the fact that your starving thousands have the food, medicine and milk available to them…..it can and is ready to be delivered through international organizations to you. Only your constant refusal has stopped its delivery.”

Going by your logic Crime against humanity should be expunged from the dictionary after all, it's all about war.
Many lies were told about that war.

If at all, Ojukwu was more guilty of crime against humanity, worst still against his own people just so everyone could blame Britain and Nigeria.

According to Robert Goldstein, the foreign public relations expert Ojukwu contracted to launder Biafra’s image to the outside world, by refusing to allow food aid through the land borders, the Biafran war chief contributed to the death of thousands of starving Biafran children during the three-year Nigerian civil war.

Gowon started the war. It was Gowons refusal to implement the Aburi agreement he signed with Ojukwu in Ghana that started the war.

What Gowon fought for was not to keep Nigeria one, he fought for his fellow Northerners to dominate Nigeria, politically and economically.

Had Gowon had the unity of Nigeria at heart, he would have implemented the Aburi agreement. He could not implement the Aburi agreement because that agreement prevented the Northerners from dominating Nigeria

That's why the history of Nigeria is not taught in schools, to prevent people like you from knowing the truth
Please, get your facts right.

The Aburi Accord was ambiguous and both Gowon and Ojukwu interpreted it personally thereby causing a misunderstanding that triggered the war.

Just so you know, immediately Gowon and Ojukwu returned to Nigeria, it was Ojukwu who first began to spread what he perceived to be the recommendation of the Accord.

Someone is asking for job prospects for someone studying sociology, and they are all here mentioning president and other elective offices. Are elective positions job prospects for any course of study?

A high number of Nigerians are intellectually deficient and yet they have the mind to call Buhari a dullarrd.

Tufiakwa!!!

@lajid, many sociology jobs demand master's degrees. But it doesn't mean that there are no job prospects for sociology graduates with only a Bsc. If she remains in Nigeria, well, you know she would be able to work in many sectors because sociology encompasses a lot of disciplines that study society.

So, she can work as a public relations specialist; she can work in law enforcement and regulatory agencies like the police, EFCC, ICPC, NAFDAC, and so on. She can also teach.

In short, a sociology degree can prepare you for roles where you deal with humans, roles such as market research analysis, policy analysis, social works, media planning, and so on.

As per the Nigerian situation, you will however have to factor in the connection factor. Long gone are the days of meritocracy. Now, it is the period of man know man

Kapeter:
Opposition is not madness the say buh FFk has taken it far even at the detriment of his own political career.

Now addressing his lies and foolishness.

he peddled some falsehood recently about how the great yoruba came about our collective name.

First: FFK said Yoruba came about from an insulting/derogatory name the Fulanis call us as a people. Totally false.

I challenge FFk himself and all his believers to find a fulani man and ask him if there is any word like Ya.ri.ba in their language. You will be surprised there is nothing like such in fulfude and not even in hausa language, it is just a corrupted way of pronouncing Yoruba just like the whites corrupted Igbos to Ib.os and Ubinu to bennin and same way the hausa soldiers corrupted yen mmiri to 'yan,m.uri' and many more. Our tongues are different, we all can't pronounce other peoples tongue perfectly,

it's something totally impossible.

secondly, i see ffk regarding himself as 'omo karo o jire', this is funny, that isn't meant to be a name of people collectively, that's just a description. It's more like the way some of us call the ibos 'omo n.na', why? Because they call themselves nna and nne, we use that to address them as a people buh that's not their name collctively and also same way we call every northerners 'ab.oki' it's because they refer to themselves as aboki which means friend, we this pick the word to describe them but that doeasn't change the fact they are hausas, nupes, fulanis and all..

He also said he's omoluabi, that is also an appraisal of us. It's a way we praise ourselves as a people and never our collective name....
God bless you. FFK is very ignorant.
