To start with I will advise that people's thread should not be deleted if they didnt violate any stated rule without informing the poster through PM (probably) the reason for deleting the thread. People complain about this alot. Though I have never been a victim. |
Hello Nairalanders, I have seen many posts on Nairaland which are mainly to complain about an 'anomaly'. I have also read many posts in which people complained about one thing or the other RANDOMLY. I thought there should be a better way to do this and multiple posts and complains are sometimes unnecessary. Also, there are many things that Mr Oluwaseun Osewa and the moderators may not see or notice that many Nairalanders would love to be changed or considered. Because of the above reasons and many others I open this thread for US to put down our advices for consideration. I hereby appeal to Mr. Oluwaseun Osewa and all moderators to always peruse this thread and try to listen and act on people's suggestions and advices. Please eschew abusing, just advices. Thanks |
odizeey: yesIf those textbooks are written by the lecturers and they are compulsory then it is also like hand-outs. Because the purpose is to make money. Thanks for your contribution |
ikenna58: Good job salvy! Only a monopoly player could have come close to the answer. Well donePlease can you explain what you mean by 'monopoly'? |
ikenna58: Bravo... Now it gets tougher! He violated a regulation |

odizeey: We all knw its nt lawfulRecommended textbooks? Are the textbooks written by the lecturers? Is it compulsory? |
Please consider this https://www.nairaland.com/1513084/nigerian-tertiary-institutions-hand-outs |
Hello Nairalanders It is not a subject of debate whether hand outs are being sold to students in some tertiary institutions in Nigeria. In my school(OAU), lectures dont sell hand out to students but they sometimes release material for the class representative to make photocopy so that other students can also do the same. NO COMPULSION I was very surprised when I listen to my friend from a polytechnic(FEDPOFFA) who narrated her ordeal about buying hand outs. According to her hand outs are means of passing exams automatically, atleast the lecturer will give you a pass mark if your name is among those who bought his/her hand outs. Here are my questions: 1. Is it lawful for lecturers to sell hand outs? If NO 2. What is NANS doing about it? 3. How can we fight against this? 4. What is the situation in your school. Kindly include the name. Thanks |

Tgirl4real Thanks Madam But having 24hours to read ALL debaters arguments is not enough remember we are audience not participants. Also when we have them released not at once it wont bore us and it will be more appealing to read and learn from. To back up my suggestion please check this out https://www.nairaland.com/1480322/educational-debate-phase-one-essay The link is for the phase one of Nairaland Education Debate completed just of recent. You were one of the judges and if you peruse the thread carefully many AUDIENCE said it was too long and that they read only the first 2 or 3 arguments out of about 10 atleast (if not more than). You may confirm this from the link above I believe you wont want this to happen again. Anyway, it is my opinion and I believe many audience support this. Thanks ma'am. |

More nominees for judges are welcome Also, still waiting for people to join Nairaland Unversity Thanks |
We discovered that many still failed to understand the instructions. Many of the questions above have been answered, but it seems people didnt peruse all posts. It was also noticed that people are taking the debate as a do or die affair. YOU ARE NOT REPRESENTING YOURSELF, YOU ARE REPRESENTING YOUR SCHOOL. YOU CANT EMERGE AS A WINNER ONLY YOUR SCHOOL CAN EMERGE AS A WINNER. No matter the representative of the school the GLORY WILL GO TO THE SCHOOL. Or are you participating to show off? Also, please calm down. This is not the first debate on Nairaland, many participants will just 'disappear' before the debate due to one reason or the other. NB: No matter who delivers his/her school's argument. The contributors (other co-debaters) from the school WILL BE 'RECOGNISED' This is the meaning of cooperation. If there is still any question unanswered, please do well to ask COORDINATORS |
cowleg: TEAM IMSU UPDATES: I did a background check and found out my co-debater reppin IMSU is a nairaland newbie with just 2 post to his credit, all efforts to reach him 'clinton' is inconclusive, please if he is viewing this, he should try and contact me. ThanksThis was one of the reasons why we allowed many representatives. |
@ VICTOFX The coordinators have done the grouping and topics have been selected. But if need be it may be considered. Though dont be surprise if it is not among the debate topics. |
Hello everyone Please avoid quoting long posts and make your questions as precis as possible. Thanks |
@ damoskiy The prize will not be unveil now. This is to fulfil the purpose of the debate(on page 1). Your suggestion is nice and the coordinators will consider it, but what happened on page 14 shows that we can go for what you proposed. Kindly go through page 14 again carefully PLEASE NOTE: We discovered that almost everybody wants to represent his or her school. Majority wont allow others to take their place in presenting the argument of their school on behalf of all of them. Also, discussing to garner points and ideas may not be feasible for all school. That is why atleast 2 representative is needed In addition, please note that not all participants will be available when the time for the debate comes Thanks |
Be sure that all judges will be people that are up to the task. We understand all the points raised. They will be considered. Also note that not all nominees will be among the judges. Thanks |
