Is Fashola representing Lagos?


MURTALA Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, is Nigeria’s number one gateway. Abuja may be the political capital of Nigeria, but Lagos remains the nation’s alpha city; its economic melting pot, cultural epicentre and “Big Apple” (Governor Akinwunmi Ambode says 86 people enter Lagos every hour without intention to go back to where they came from). Fashola If you want to get the first impressions of a country you are visiting, the place to start is the international airport. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, NAIAA, as small as it is, is a pride to the nation as you drive into the federal capital city. But MMIA Lagos is a shame of Nigeria. Woe betide you if you are coming to Nigeria for the first time and you land in MMIA at night. Apart from the poor air-conditioning, smelly toilets and scrappy furnishing, you get the shock of your life when you are driven out of the airport towards the town.

Once you are out of the immediate vicinity of the airport, you will zoom into a dark, narrow driveway just five hundred metres down the road. Fear will grip you as you remember stories of armed robberies, kidnapping (especially of expatriates) and 419 crimes that Nigeria is often infamous for around the world.This is unlike Abuja, whose wide boulevards of well-lit road networks prepare your mind for a city which is like others in the developed world. For decades, the road from Oshodi to MMIA has remained neglected by the Federal Government which has the statutory franchise to construct and maintain it. The Federal Government has a very poor track record of maintaining its vast infrastructural possessions nationwide. Lagos, being the former political capital, obviously has the largest trove of Federal property compared to any other state. Therefore, Lagos suffers more than any other state in Federal neglect of its roads, ports, railways, military and police/security facilities, the Federal Secretariat, coastlines, waterways and what have you.

The MMIA access road stands out as a reference point of national disgrace because this is where visitors to Nigeria get their first impression of the country. In the past, the Lagos State Government, LASG, has always taken great comfort in heaping the blame for the neglect of this corridor on the doorsteps of the Federal Government because the state had always been ruled by political parties that were in opposition to the parties in power at the centre. Former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, took great pleasure in castigating the Goodluck Jonathan regime for federal neglect, even though that regime made more effort than any other government past and present (since the seat of government moved to Abuja) to reconstruct expired Federal roads in and around the metropolis (especially the Apapa – Oshodi Express).

From May 29th 2015, the story changed. The All Progressives Congress , APC, took over power in Abuja. For the first time in history, Abuja and Lagos came under the same political party control. It was not a coincidence at all. The APC was a political party successfully forged with the active effort of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the father of contemporary Lagos politics.

Tinubu also played decisive roles in giving the presidential ticket of the APC to Muhammadu Buhari whom he later co-sponsored to emerge as the elected President of Nigeria. In recognition of this contribution, Buhari conceded the Vice Presidency to Tinubu and picked Tinubu’s godson-turned-rebel, Fashola (a Lagos indigene and its two-term Governor) to man the most strategic infrastructure-related portfolio: Ministry of Power, Works and Housing (PWH). The perfect stage was set for Lagos to receive a major lifeline in infrastructural revival from Abuja, or so it seemed.
However, that has not happened. Fashola appears to be keeping his native Lagos State at arm’s length. Fashola has been in office as the PWH Minister for sixteen months, and not a single bulldozer belonging to the Federal Government has set wheel on any patch of Lagos. Instead, we see his ministry very active on the Lagos – Ibadan Express to complete the reconstruction which was started by the immediate past regime.

One would have thought that by now, work would have resumed in the reconstruction of the Lagos – Oshodi – Oworonshoki Express which Jonathan took from Tin Can Island to Cele Bus Stop before he was voted out. It took the noble response of Governor Ambode for the collapsed section of the road at the Berlet/Ilasa stretch to be restored for easy motoring.

The Apapa – Oshodi Express is not just another road. It is the nation’s most important economic highway because this road leads to Nigeria’s two major seaports at Apapa and Tin Can, from where we derive our largest non-oil revenues. This is the nation’s main import-export corridor, where trailers, oil tankers and trucks from all over Nigeria come to cart away cargoes to the hinterland. It houses at least, five industrial estates, numerous tank farms and media houses.

With Abuja and Lagos now under one political “umbrella”, you would expect that the old demons that made it impossible for this road to be unblocked for easy economic activities would be laid to rest, more so as a son of Lagos is in charge of road infrastructure. But that has not happened. Instead, Fashola, the Minister representing Lagos in Buhari’s cabinet, is alleged to have become a stumbling block even in the voluntary efforts by Governor Ambode to shoulder some of the Federal Government’s financial burdens.

Ambode last week told newsmen that Fashola’s Ministry of Power, Works and Housing was “frustrating” his efforts to reconstruct the Oshodi – MMIA road into a 10-lane marvel, which the Lagos State House of Assembly has already approved and appropriated financing for. Even the Presidential Lodge in the Lagos Marina, which President Buhari promised to hand over to Lagos six months ago, has not been accessed because of difficulties the Governor laid at the doorsteps of Fashola’s Ministry.

Fashola, however, has denied being a stumbling block as charged. In a sharp repartee after Ambode’s media allegations, he said the Lagos State Government’s requests were still undergoing due processes. Could it be that this “process” is so slow because of problems back home between Fashola and his estranged political parents? Supposed President Buhari wakes up tomorrow to reshuffle his cabinet and Fashola finds himself reposted to where he can no longer be directly useful to Lagos or even sacked, what will he tell his people that he did during the time he occupied the juiciest ministerial position in Abuja?

Fashola’s explanation is not enough. He is sitting in his exalted office in the name of Lagos State. He is expected to push for Lagos to have its share of the nation’s commonwealth, more so, as the state is the non-oil revenue powerhouse of the economy and the nation’s Big Apple. Lagos is not reaping the benefits of the alliance that produced the Buhari regime, and the fault may not be that of a President Buhari who is willing to cede the Presidential Lodge and the National Stadium (among others) to the Lagos State Government.

We know there is a huge rift between Fashola and the political stable that produced him and made him governor for eight years in Lagos. This much was evident in the fact that Governor Ambode, early in the day, allowed information about alleged corrupt deals under Fashola’s watch to be leaked, thus nearly truncating the latter’s screening as a ministerial nominee at the Senate.

Fashola should use his privileged position to benefit his people rather than offer mere excuses. He should fight for Lagos. A fight for Lagos is a national fight because virtually every Nigerian is a Lagos stakeholder. Power is transient; it can come to an end suddenly. All eyes are on him. When it comes to issues that will benefit the generality of the people, politicians should learn to bury their petty differences and work together. They can always go back to their quarrelling after.

Rubbish. Generated highest revenue by breaking into people's warehouses in Ota by 2am and carting away lorries of rice. Not to talk of illegal and clandestine high way operations against travellers going to the east and south south. He acts as if he is above the law so he should face the consequences in his uniform

Abuja should be worse than Abeokuta. A town where u have to be a Politician or looter to enjoy cannot go high on the rankings and cannot even be considered a City.

No wonder Buhari can't work with Tinubu. While progressives like Tinubu and Ambode excel in their domain, Buhari who is a conservative with lack of basic ideas keep pulling Nigeria backwards. How can the same party thats transforming Lagos (and multiplying its economy even in this time of recession) be the same party thats now a collosal failure in handling Nigerian economy.
It simply means there are two APC's and they dont work together or exchange ideas.

This can only be possible if sell outs like Fayemi and super Minister Fashola continue to back Buhari against the person that brought them to lime light. Many people have betrayed Tinubu and personal i feel his problem is that he trusts people so much that is willing to invest in them without a properly agreed or documented term and conditions.
Its shameful that a man who sponsored Buhari to win the primaries and sponsored nearly half of APC expenses in the election wasnt given one minesterial slot personally. Its an abomination. But as said, Buhari can only succeed if traitors he made minister continue unchecked. The generality of the Yoruba populace has to rise up.
Buhari cannot dictate what happens in the SW or SE. How come its the SW thats the most politally vibrant and learned of all that will be subdued.

WHY TINUBU MUST BE RESCUED


IT is obvious now that, for the first time in his illustrious political career, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the much touted National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has fallen into a political ditch. He needs a helping hand to get out fast.

If the APC manipulates itself to victory in Ondo State (by using the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Judiciary to ensure that a fake candidate, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, stands for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, it might signal the end of the Tinubu political saga in the South West. Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change,CPC, masquerading as the APC that won the general elections last year will have two states in the zone (Ondo and Ogun) in its kitty. Being the party in power, and with the Tinubu loyalist governors in Oyo and Osun not eligible to run again, Buhari can use the same INEC, Judiciary, Directorate of State Services, DSS, and the “may-my-loyalty-never-be-tested” former Tinubu boys like Babatunde Fashola to make a grab for the rest of the South West come 2019. APC leader, Bola Tinubu APC leader, Bola Tinubu If that happens, the pro-Caliphate, Kaduna Mafia Arewa North led by Buhari would start calling the shots in the politics of the South West on their terms, and no longer in alliance with a “homegrown” political leader of the zone. That will bode very ill, not only for our democracy that thrives better on inter-regional alliances (which was what brought Buhari into power) but will entrench Buharist Northern domination; a recipe for national instability and eventual disintegration.

Buharist Arewaism (coded into his 97%/%% parasitic formula for the distribution of the Nigerian commonwealth) has been on open display since he assumed power on May 29th 2015. It has shown itself in the manner in which the Federal Government was formed, the deployment of the security agencies, the repositioning of the top echelon of the Federal Bureaucracy, the denial of the South the right to produce the substantive Head of the Federal Judiciary (the Chief Justice of Nigeria) and in the way the INEC has been robbed of its Jonathan-era independence.

It is also manifesting in the Islamisation of Non-Muslim communities in the Middle Belt and South by armed Muslim militias masquerading as herdsmen, the frequent abductions of under-aged Christian girls by emirs and Islamic clerics who promptly marry them off to themselves or other Muslims without the consent of their parents, the manner in which “blasphemy” murder suspects are being set free when the law enforcement agencies bother to get them arrested and tried; and the way the Federal Character principle in the constitution is contemptuously ignored while a brash reign of nepotism is plunked down the throats of Nigerians. Who knows in what other forms we will be seeing it in the years to come?

How do you describe the possible outcome of these burgeoning anomalies that have reared their ugly heads in just 18 months? Is it normal for human beings subjected to these arrogant violations not to do something about it (eventually)?

I am not sure this is the type of APC Federal Government that Tinubu and his kinsmen from the South West who put Buhari in the Presidency had envisioned. I saw it coming, and I warned and warned. But I was called dirty names here on this forum by the horde of hired e-rats whose ranks have rapidly shrunk of late like our famished economy. Tinubu had dreamed of an APC Federal Government in which the North and the West would partner in calling the shots for the rest of the country, with his Lagos whiz-kids showing Nigeria how they did it in Lagos.

I warned here that Buhari, from his track records as a former military ruler, Executive Chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, and his utterances as a politician (“I will always propagate Sharia to all parts of Nigeria”; “the dogs and baboons will be covered in blood”, and so on) was not the kind of person who would share power with a Westerner, Easterner or Minorities of the North or South.

Tinubu had a golden opportunity to put his support in favour of Atiku Abubakar. He and Atiku had met and shared power in the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP. Atiku has many faults, but he is much more cosmopolitan, has friends all over the country and is reputed for his sound sense of organised procedure. These are totally absent in this chaotic Buhari’s government.

Tinubu chose Buhari because the masses of the Muslim North were fanatically behind him. They saw him as their messiah with a magic wand to drag them out of Boko Haram insurgency and extreme poverty. I hope he has met their aspirations. He obviously hasn’t met Tinubu’s. So, if Buhari’s APC wins the Ondo governorship without Tinubu, the Party will begin to feel they can do without him. The pronouncements of Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau that Tinubu’s absence in the electioneering process would not affect the party is instructive. When Tinubu was deeply involved in the Ondo elections in 2012, his party still lost. So, if APC wins now that he has withdrawn his support, his days as a factor in the party are gone. It won’t matter that the PDP candidate, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede, was shackled to give APC’s Rotimi Akeredolu a free ride.

The South West must not allow its political fortunes to be dictated by Northerners. This region has, historically, fought to maintain its independence and core agenda in Nigerian politics.

Tinubu’s misadventure in handing the zone over to Buhari is threatening to take away the region’s power to decide its own future. It will not be in the interest of the nation for this to happen. Not at this juncture, when the South East and the South-South zones have found their own independent footings and are able to determine their respective political directions. The West must not fall.

Emirates, Kenya Airways suspend flights to Abuja


Emirates, one of the biggest foreign airlines operating in Nigeria, has said it is stopping flight operations to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with effect from October 22, 2016.

In another development, East African carrier Kenya Airways, has also announced that it will suspend flights to Abuja with effect from November 15, 2016 as part of its restructuring and loss saving efforts.

Daily Trust quoted sources as saying that Emirates had since formally written the Minister of State, Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika over its intention to stop flight operations into Abuja following the airline’s inability to buy forex and remit its sales.

The letter was received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation on behalf of the Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.

According to the source, the said letter indicated 22nd October 2016 as the date Emirates would suspend the Abuja flight operations if respite did not come their way.

The source said if after weeks of the Abuja suspension, no drastic change happened, Emirates would also suspend Lagos operations indefinitely. When that occurs, Emirates would have exited the Nigerian market.

“Emirates has huge money in naira at the banks. It cannot repatriate its sales because it cannot buy dollars. This is having negative effect on their operations,” the source said.

On its part, the Kenya Airline indicated that the suspension of its Abuja flights was triggered by the dwindling traffic from Abuja to Nairobi, the airline’s operational hub.

Kenya Airways CEO Mbuvi Ngunze in a statement said the airline would, however, continue to operate its daily flight from Lagos to Nairobi.

APC Crisis Thickens as Aisha Buhari Talks Tough on Tinubu, Oyegun face-off

Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu has reacted to the ongoing crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, saying the row has become a serious worry for the administration.

“Many people have started dividing the leadership of the APC and that is really making us feel not too good,” Mrs. Buhari said in an interview with BBC Hausa.

A part of the interview was aired Tuesday. The full interview will be aired on Friday.

The first lady said those behind the crisis felt aggrieved that they laboured for, and helped the APC to power in 2015, but received no compensation.

“They are doing that because they felt have laboured for the party and deserved to be compensated,” Mrs. Buhari said. “People who do not have voters card are those who are given appointments and enjoying the government.”

Her unusually public remarks about politics came amid an unfolding clash between a former governor Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, and the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun.

The latest infighting stemmed from a disagreement over how the party’s candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State emerged.

Mr. Tinubu, in a scathing statement, accused Mr. Odigie-Oyegun of engaging in fraudulent manipulation of the primaries.

Mr. Oyegun denied the allegations, and accused Mr. Tinubu of falsehood, and of waging a media war against him.

The APC, a coalition of four former political parties, came into existence in 2013. The alliance was aimed at challenging the then Peoples Democratic Party, and possibly wrestling power from it.

Mr. Tinubu, who led one of the former parties, Action Congress of Nigeria, was widely credited as the architect of the APC victory in the 2015 elections – the first opposition win at the federal level.

The party began to face internal crisis early after the polls, as different leadership factions struggled for available positions in the cabinet and National Assembly.

Mr. Tinubu’s candidates for the positions of Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker, lost out.

The Ondo election crisis is the latest manifestation of the lingering feud.

Mrs. Buhari said the power tussle resonated in varied ways that majority of her husband’s cabinet members were not known to him – meaning they were foisted as part of the power grab.

She added: “Among all the people he selected, if he is asked among 50 people, he does not know 45. I don’t know them despite staying with him for 27 years”.

For those behind the crisis, which was affecting the administration, she said “What I am afraid for them is the rebellion of 15 million people”, ostensibly in reference to the number of the people who voted for the president.

Asked whether her husband knew those creating problems for his administration, Mr. Buhari said, “Whether he knows them or not, those who voted for him know. There is nothing I will tell him. He can see”.

When asked whether her husband planned to run for a second term in 2019, Mrs. Buhari said she did not know. But said for her personally, “I have made up my mind about that”.

Calabar and Lokoja were never capitals of a United Nigeria. Calabar was capital of the southern protectorate while Lokoja was capital of the northern protectorate. Then the name used was Royal Niger Company. From 1914 amalgamation till 1992 Lagos was the capital of Nigeria.
Besides, the argument for lagos is not just that of being a former capital, a city with 60% of our industries, 90% of our financial institutions, our biggest airport, Seaport, commercial nerve center etc ought to have a special grant. Its an open knowledge that 70% of Firs taxes are collected from Lagos alone.
The west really have to sit down and think if this APC venture is profiting them or profiting Buhari alone who has gone the extra mile in creating North East Development Agency. A region that contributes nothing to our economic and financial life.

Tinubu single-handedly chose Osinbajo for Buhari, was not interested in VP – General Ibrahim replies Prof. Paden

A retired general, Iliyasu Ibrahim, has discredited claims that a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu was against the emergence of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo as running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.

Ibrahim spoke on Tuesday in reaction to a portion of the recently-launched book by Professor John Paden on Buhari, titled: “Muhammadu Buhari: Challenges of Leadership,” which claimed that Osinbajo emerged as Vice President despite pressure against it by Tinubu.

Paden, in the book had stated that the former Lagos State governor had wanted the Vice President’s role for himself and not Osinbajo.

The Professor had noted that, “With Buhari coming from the North-West geopolitical zone, the Vice-Presidency had been ceded to the South-West geopolitical zone.

“Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and political ‘godfather’ of the South-West geopolitical zone, felt he should be the vice-presidential candidate.

“His protégée and the then popular Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, was also a possible candidate.

“Both Tinubu and Fashola were Muslims, which complicated the national balance.

“A third candidate, Yemi Osinbajo, had been Attorney General of Lagos State and a senior law professor and a pastor.

“When the three names were forwarded to Buhari, he chose Osinbajo despite enormous pressure from Tinubu.”

However, Ibrahim, in a statement issued yesterday, said, “I became disturbed about this falsification of recent history. Why would the author say this and have it published when many of us know the truth? The truth is that Tinubu singlehandedly chose Yemi Osinbajo and sent the name to President Buhari. There was no pressure. Tinubu is Osinbajo’s political mentor. The latter was his attorney-general and commissioner for Justice in Lagos and both have a close relationship.

“My worry stretched further when I recall the recent piece by Femi Fani Kayode on Tinubu and his huge contributions to the APC and how he is now being short-changed. Though I do not agree with all the claims made by Femi Fani-Kayode, I am convinced he made some reasonable arguments and his summation about Tinubu’s role in the current political dispensation can hardly be faulted. In some areas, he went overboard and you could see him gloating, the PDP apologist that he is. Also, the mention of Governor Ajimobi as one of the governors working against Tinubu is a fallacy and here he got his facts wrong. Ajimobi has remained consistently behind Tinubu and that is easily verifiable.

“But back to the emergence of Osinbajo as Vice Presidential candidate. I was there the night before the final decision and subsequent announcement. I was there at the Lagos Lodge Annex in Asokoro, Abuja at Tinubu’s place. On the night in reference, Asiwaju insisted that three names would not be sent for the VP slot. He maintained that only one name would be sent. Eventually, the name of Osinbajo was sent to President Buhari. There was no issue of pressure.

“Osinbajo was Tinubu’s man and that was the only person Tinubu was willing to accept to cede the VP slot. Shortly after Governor Amosun came around to the Lagos lodge. He came in and we greeted. Now, it seems clear that some fifth columnists are trying to distort recent history and we should not let them. This history is too recent to be mutilated.”

Tinubu has been relegated to the sidelines in APC and forced to live in the confines of Burdillon like a mad man living in an asylum. Serves him right, he sold the south (the foolish ones not me) to the north. Now he is getting to shove the bitter pill of being used and dumped down his throat.

I knew his career in APC was near end, when Dino threatened to impregnate his wife and even walked the streets of Burdillon. Goes to show that Saraki sef his hunting the downfall of Tinubu so that he can also get control of the west. I am so happy APC, Buhari and Oyegun are curtailing his Godfatherism. We need no political warlords, we say no to imposition of candidates. Let the best man win freely and fairly

Tinubu's political career has come to a sudden end. What goes up must surely come down

Tinubus political career can never come to an end because unlike others he is not contesting any position. He is only fighting on behalf of his boys and not directly contesting. And for your info, its Buhari that is now making Tinubu very relevant now by not ruling well. If Buhari was doing well and the change he promised is being seen by Nigerians then evevryone would have told Tinubu to shut up.
But because people are suffering due to the failure of Buhari to tackle the economy 80% of Nigerians are now looking for another saviour outside Buhari which is sad.
Take it from me, APC will break up end of next year just before campaigns for primaries will start. Tinubu, Saraki and Atiku, kwakwanso will join forces with PDP to form a new party and so long as the suffering we are witnessing now continues they will dust Buhari out of Aso rock if he dares to contest. Who knows, maybe by then one dollar will equal 1500 naira.

Certain things can only happen in Lagos, never in Abuja.

I think Abuja got class.

What class does Abuja have young man. A town with no single viable industry that only feeds on looted funds of politicians cannot be classy. Put it this way, Lagos can survive very well on its own even as a separate country but Abuja will break down in two months without Niger Delta Oil. What a plastic town.

Tinubu congratulates APC’s Obaseki

A former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, has congratulated the party’s candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Godwin Obaseki, for his victory, saying Edo people have made the choice.

He said Mr. Obaseki was a tested technocrat who was competent and experienced to take over and continue the “good work” done by the outgoing Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.

The APC leader also congratulated Mr. Oshiomhole for his achievements in Edo, which helped in retaining Edo for APC.

With the election of Obaseki, Mr. Tinubu said Edo had taken after Lagos in the continuity model, which he said has worked well for the people of Lagos State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday declared Mr. Obaseki the governor-elect.

Mr. Obaseki scored 319,483 votes to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 253,173 votes.

Mr. Obaseki equally won in 13 out of the 18 local government area of the State.

APC Crisis: Atiku backs Tinubu

A former Vice President and chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has charged the party to promote the rule of law and due process in the conduct of its affairs, noting that they were germane to its unity and stability.

He gave the charge in a statement on Wednesday against the background of the festering crisis trailing the conduct of the APC gubernatorial primary in Ondo State.

A former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, had on Sunday demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, accusing him of favouring an aspirant in the gubernatorial primaries in Ondo State and forcing his choice through using a sleight of hand.

Mr. Tinubu, who alleged that the national chairman was perpetrating injustice, said the development showed that there was an evil and regressive force within the APC using Mr. Oyegun to derail the party’s democratic and progressive tenets.

The name of a former National President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu, was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the APC candidate in the November election, despite protest by other aspirants and some members of the party’s national working committee.

Mr. Abubakar said it was imperative for the national leadership of the party to live by the rules of internal democracy and respect for democratic consensus, warning that “you cannot break your own rules without creating problems.”
He argued that the party was supposed to be an impartial entity in the arbitration of crisis amongst its members in any given election.

He further contended that since the APC found veritable reasons to review the outcome of the gubernatorial primary election it conducted in Ondo State, and was able to establish valid grounds to cancel that election and call for a fresh one, the decision to deviate from its own resolution is a negation of due process and an unfashionable hollow in democratic best practices.

“It was wrong for the APC to have set aside a resolution it had reached aimed at resolving the crisis in our party in Ondo State. It is a recipe for acrimony and division,” he said.

The former vice president also noted that pretending a problem doesn’t exist won’t make that problem go away, and therefore, advised the leadership of the party to do a soul searching and address why this problem arose and escalated.

According to Mr. Atiku, the party leadership should always be guided by respect for the rules, fairness, equity, neutrality and respect for democratic consensus.

He, however, urged aggrieved members of the APC in the Ondo election to exercise restraint in seeking redress to the crisis.

He also urged the leadership of the party to retrace its steps and do the needful to restore confidence among the conflicting parties in the state for the overall benefit of the ruling party.

These guys are funny. Are they afraisd of going to the primaries or afraid of losing. Primaries havent even been done and they are talking of the imposition. I think its guys who are scared of losing the primaries that doing this. I wont be suprised if they are been funded by external factors like PDP.

What he should do now is to secretly beg Buhari to do a minor cabinet reshuffle and appoint a professional as a new minister for Power so that he Fashola can concentrate on roads and housing and we can then remove the tag 'Minister of Darkness' from his titles. I have seen this guy go on physical inspection of so many construction sites both before, during and after construction. Thats the big difference between him and Fashola. All Fashola was doing was paper work in the office. Sometimes one needs to physically inspect the jobs and identify the areas that needs attention.
