kokoA:100 naira bread no dey Abuja again o ! |
fxexperts:This one is mad but he has no one to tell him! |
I detest the Nigerian Police Force and their lack of professional discipline. But while we're all coming down heavy on their personnel, it is instructive for us all to admit that the Police is understaffed and grossly underpaid. The welfare of an average Nigerian policeman in an entire month is shamefully less than what a street hawker selling soft drinks in Abuja traffic congestion makes as profits within the same timeframe. You cannot take a man with a wife and three kids, hang a heavy AK47 on his shoulder and put him in the sun for approximately 25 days of the month, only to send him home with a miserable 60 thousand naira (approximately 70 dollars) at the end of the month and not expect him to contemplate dubious practices the next day. The Federal Government has to do better with the welfare of Policemen. These people expose their lives to untold societal dangers just so we all can sleep at nights. The least the Government can do is pay them adequately and treat them better. Sadly, in our country, leaders administer panadol for headache instead of providing antibiotics to treat the malaria causing the aches.. ![]() |
Typing:He's not lying. |
OP, Like someone said in one of the comments, the differences in price has more to do with the daily economics of running small scale business, than it has to do with greed. Sachet water price in Sabo is not the same with sachet sachet water price in Barnawa, both in Kaduna. And even you know this. A bottle of Hero beer is still sold between 350 and 400 naira around Sabo. It's not less than 500 naira in Barnawa, Kawo, Mando, etc. There'll always be the price variance, due to a number of factors which I'm currently too tired to mention. |
Kukutente23:LMAO! And you somehow don't realise that what you just described here is exactly what is happening right now? |
AlexReports, please rest and allow nairaland breathe, in Jesus name! |
Okay. So why is this news ?Nigerians get sick everyday and no politician out there literally gives a hoot bout any of it. |
Fugazy2023:Smh. Quite sad! |
Kukutente23:I am very conversant with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency, which happens to be the parent body of PPPRA, DPR and PEFMB. However, the regulatory role of the NNPCL as I earlier implied, isn't within the prism with which you've understood it. Maybe my choice of words was the problem. In the eyes of the government and International communities, the NNPCL is the "measurement scale" used to calibrate pricing modules from the upstream all the way to the downstream. Despite the monumental fraud that dogs the the body, the outcome of the business done by NNPCL informs the schematic with which independent marketers are expected to work with, even in an entirely deregulated oil industry. So, if NNPCL goes out there and buys refined petrol from Venezuela (for instance), whatever pump price they put up after all considerations, is expectedly the benchmark for others to decide their own prices. Of course, being independent marketers, they don't easily access forex like NNPCL does, so their prices will be slightly higher. But where the NMDPRA comes in, is if A. A. Rano decides to set his pump price at 750 naira while NNPCL is selling at 617, within the same state or region. With a price difference of over 130 naira, someone is definitely going to have some explaining to do. |
Fugazy2023:The Igbos are not my people. I'm just concerned that you totally deviated from the subject of the thread and chose to glorify tribalism. |
kabillionaire:He's not a pessimist. He's simply giving bare-faced deductions based on his understanding of the realities on ground. |
Fugazy2023:Seriously? This is all you could process in your head after watching the video and reading through the written content? |
IconicR:You can as well say she was muzzled out by Tinubu's strong men, who are already forming a cabal around him. |
Kukutente23:NNPC is fixing price for "its" own imported products, not for the general market. But as the official government regulator, whatever price it fixes is considered as the benchmark for other importers/marketers to decide their own pricing templates. |
nedekid:What excuses bro? |
IconicR:LMAO.. !This is unarguably the most ridiculous content I have read since I woke around 3am today. Did you just claim "Asiwaju don't like wasting money"? Rose, your politically accumulated knowledge is amusing, to say the least. Alhaja Najatu's exit from Tinubu's campaign team wasn't necessitated by money please. Well, not exactly the way you put it. She realised her interests won't be best served in Tinubu's camp, especially with the daunting presence of strong hands like Femi Gbajabiamila, D. Alake, N. Ribadu, etc. She was literally even almost reduced to begging to be recognised for any significant role during the early days of the campaigns. I remember reading an exposé somewhere that even detailed a fracas she had with Alake in their Abuja campaign office. She left because the wolves around Tinubu were ferocious and baying for blood. And being a woman who isn't even blessed with the kind of political audacity that Binani of Adamawa has, she took the easy way out. |
CodeTemplar:Whose problem is it, please? |
The "Occupy Nigeria" protest was actually done in 2012. |
Jostoman:Lol. This is more of your optimism speaking, than an actual deduction from the reality in Kogi state. |
IconicR:And have you ever bothered to reason why she left Asiwaju to pitch her camp with Atiku? |
IconicR:That's quite sad. Not the claim you're making about her, no. Just the fact you have such an impression of her. Simply because she doesn't kow-tow to the demands of your political god. Rose!!! |
With the vicious Yahaya Bello still a sitting governor under the APC, I strongly beg to diagree. |
Realistically, no serious government is supposed to allow individuals to own fuel stations within 10 to 15km on border roads connecting to other countries. That singular oversight alone, is enough to breed intense smuggling activities. To the best of my recollection, owing to the tripartite agreement between the Nigerian FG, the Cameroonian FG and the African Development Bank, all the fuel stations that are within 15Km on the border road connecting Ikom in Cross River State to Ekok/Mfum in Cameroon, have been bought from their initial owners, largely dismantled and the few still standing, have been rendered inoperative. So why has the government failed to replicate the same measure along other State boundaries linking Nigeria to neighbouring countries? |
whippersnapper:El-rufai cannot be considered for an appointment by the United Nations. His records of human rights abuse are too sensitive, weighty and extreme to be simply glossed over. |
helinues:As compensation for his support to Bola Tinubu through the last Presidential election circle. |
adebayo987:Which shouldn't even be our problem, if you stop to think about it. This issue of petrol price increase is being addressed here as a matter of presumption. It is not. The price of petrol is certainly going to be raised within the next two weeks, depending on when the next shipments of products arrive the sea ports. And there's literally nothing even Tinubu can do about it, as long as the naira keeps collapsing against the dollar. |
IconicR:Ba magana, toh! |
