Family › Re: As A Husband, "Before You Ask Your Wife What Are You Bringing To The Table". by bomsilaga(m): 1:02am On Nov 28, 2023 |
Rich4god: Am lending my voice to this thread https://www.nairaland.com/7922406/wife-why-life-women-complicated#127165126
A couple of days back, my wife put to bed using CS. Initially we had a baby before, I a know how complicated and painful the pregnancy and childbirth was.
Now I was in the theatre during the CS and I saw first hand how someone's abdomen was sliced open and the baby pulled out. I also saw how doctors were putting their hands into someone's abdomen and how they finally stitched her up. It wasn't an easy sight to behold. Right now, she's recovering, but the pain she's passing through is much.
To me, this is the highest form of sacrifice that someone can give for the family.
So to the men and husband out there..... before you ask your wife to be "what she is bringing to table", kindly think about the sacrifice they make in bringing your children to the world. I can relate. Since I entered theatre, my respect for women increased. That's some scary shit going on and men will even demand a particular gender from them |

Romance › Re: I Look So Older Than My Age! Will I Ever Get A Man To Marry Me? by bomsilaga(m): 2:21am On Sep 28, 2023 |
HanisahZuwy: I don't know if I'll ever get a man to marry me. I look so older than my age. I'm in my twenties, but I look like a 53 years old woman. Even men and women old enough to be my father and mother will be referring to me as ma. Some of them are even people who are older than me with 30-35 years. Most people doubt me when they ask for my age and I tell them. They feel I'm lying about my age. I feel I'm more than the age I tell them. I know some people look older than their age, but I don't think any could be worse than mine. Mine is that bad!
I don't know why this is so. I don't know why I look so older than my age.Why is it like that? Is there any one here in this kind of situation? How does that make you feel? Please, what can I do to remedy this? Is there anyone here like that? Or am I alone? What do you normally do to help yourself in this situation? I would like to hear from you if you're in this. I am in the same boat and at first, in my late twenties I felt bad about it but as time went by, I realised I could seal certain deals that a younger looking person wouldn't be able to. They always brush off my age as 'football age' so I always sit at table of no mean men. I know the situation is different for a woman but just as someone advised above, do not act like the age range they have put you in and try to present the actual age within you, though not forcefully. However, know that marriage is not the ultimate and try look for a hobby or a passion to distract yourself. Thanks |

Zxcvbnmghtr: So you believe these girls with their full breast and very curvy hips are virgins?
Perhaps so, if and only if they have not come across the red Pillers.
The truth is, this is only an effort to preserve and project a dying tradition. Obviously these are not virgins. I'm a woman and I can tell first hand. They have people that check them. The picture where they saw in a row is the checking ceremony. Used to ne pure but now some families pay to avert shame. |

I have been going through the whole madness of the story of Mohbad and how he was hurriedly buried and all that, and I must say it's been very disturbing. I have been accused of so many things I didn't do in my life and very careful to accuse someone without an evidence. Am I missing something about the death of Mohbad and the direct accusation against naira Marley? Don't get me wrong, I dislike his style and lyrics.
Please educate me if there's something concrete linking him. Thanks |

Acidosis: Are you saying that parents in Western countries are able to afford these things? Why do students abroad owe school fees? Are you also aware that, while the UK was increasing fees for international students, UK/EU students had their fees reduced? Every Nigerian student you see in the UK pay more than the average UK citizen. Yet these people still find themselves in debt.
Nothing is easy anywhere. I agree that the world has become a global environment but that's actually an advantage to people who want to stay back. I'm sure you're aware that some Nigerians now earn $$$ from Gbagada and Mowe. More so, the idea of education is fast changing.
We are in an era where Elon Musk will pay you $8000 for creating a s**upid content on Twitter.
Some children will grow up wondering why we box them into the 6-3-3-4 thing. As much as we desire the best for them and want to use them to achieve the dreams we couldn't achieve, we should be mindful, so we don't make the same mistakes our fathers made. Well spoken and I want to add that it really doesn't make common sense that everyone must travel abroad. Persons that have discovered a niche in Nigeria either legally or legally should just stay back and hold fort. Certain professions cannot feed let alone allow investment for the professional. And just so you know, if you are a lizard in Nigeria, abroad cannot automatically make you a crocodile. That said, I also like to present migration as an investment in itself with dividends not necessarily in physical cash. |

An Accountant at 48 should go and learn forklifting or settle for care jobs. The absolute state of these comments. Do they really think life anywhere is really that easy? We are too gullible in this country. The man will regret making such move for the rest of his life. I doubt if anyone here said life is easy elsewhere, we are only here because someone asked and comments here affirming the move are obviously coming from the situation of our country. Doing these jobs don't mean you are doing them forever and depending on your occupation, you might just get into your professional job within days or even sponsored. |

rotadeco27: Oga hear me very well, Iam a doctor and willing to do that. Just go and do not have any hesitation. Once u can drive well , go learn how to drive trucks , believe you me, you will make more money than your wife. Australia is a low taxed county, and people that do such aforementioned works make good cash. I have many friends over there encouraging me to come around, I was asked to do same so I can be working while preparing for AMC, then go back into the health sector. For the sake of your children and your sanity go make money and return to invest. Your children will have topnotch education and exposure, it will be easier to migrate to other climes of your choice and usually withing 4 yrs or so you people will be citizen. Now that our currency is messed up, working abroad and investing back home is the best company any one can establish, just have a trust worth person back home. Great advice but Australia is not a low taxed country. The exposure will look like a negative one once the kids reach Australia. |

Usefulsense: This is my story. Please advice.
I sent my wife to Australia in 2021 on student visa.
She has invited us, myself and our children aged 12 and 9 and our visa is out. I have also paid like 6 months fees for my children school which was a requirement for the visa.
Owing to her performance at her work place, the company she works for has promised to sponsor for PR. Infact, the process just began and we are sure of having the PR.
I am currently 48 and won't be able to support my family working in Nigeria. Wify has encouraged me that we will be fine that abroad is meant for 2 people.
My only constraint is my age, hence my question. If you are in my shoe, will you travel?
By the way, I work for a private firm here in Nigeria and you know what it is working for a family company. Please make the travel. There's job security here and as a PR, you will qualify for free TAFE, look for a course that is not physically demanding and that would no be too much strain as you get older. Mind you, life expectancy here is above 80, so you are just a little above half your life. If she's paid well, you can survive on a single income. |

You just have to learn and learn. Bridge construction involves a lot of tiny bits and pieces.
Assuming a Concrete Bridge
You need knowledge in the following whether you are the main engineer or in training: Calibrate piles for driving Reinforcement details interpretation and fabrication - bridge reinforcement can be tricky. Pay attention to burst bars and pile/pile cap connections. Also read up making helical stirrups Joints and Compaction within abutments Expansion and isolation joints best practice You need retaining wall knowledge for the abutment walls If very swampy consider a geotextile material.
Try not to cut corners and be on site alway and ensure you see what's done yourself.
I am available for support. Cheers |
