Neyoor: President Muhammadu Buhari says the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government has been salvaging Nigeria from her challenges since he assumed office.
The President said this on Tuesday while addressing a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
He urged leaders and members of the APC at the meeting, as well as Nigerians, to support the security agencies in tackling insecurity in the country.
Ahead of the forthcoming elections, President Buhari declared the APC as the party of the Nigerian people and asked its leaders and members to join forces towards achieving victory in the 2019 polls.
He further asked them to remind Nigerians of the past and thank them for supporting the APC in spite of the recent challenges in the country.
The President also appealed to the party faithful not to relax and support the presidential committee led by former governor Bola Tinubu, to reconcile all aggrieved members of the APC.
Read the President’s full remarks below:
I welcome all of you dear party members to this year’s NEC meeting.
Let me first record my appreciation to the party leadership in Abuja and the states for their stewardship of the party affairs. In particular, may I commend our Chairman, His Excellency Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for steering the party from success to success.
From our resounding victory in 2015, to gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Edo and Ondo as well as much improved showing in Anambra Elections. APC is the party of government and now the party of the Nigerian people.
Mr Chairman, Members of NEC, great credit is due to our APC State Governors for stabilizing the country and to our Armed Forces, Police and other Security Agencies for stopping Boko Haram in its tracks and driving them from their bases. No country, however well secured, can prevent isolated acts of terror as we have seen in America, Europe, Asia and here in Africa.
We must support our Security Agencies to safeguard our country so that the job of development as outlined in our Manifesto can proceed without too much interruption.
Mr Chairman, Members of the National Executive Committee, we cannot afford to fail to remind Nigerians where we came from in 2015. I am happy to report that slowly and steadily we have managed to stabilise the country and re-direct the ship of the State.
We have restored prudence to the management of public finances. Confidence in Nigeria has been restored. On February 23rd, Nigeria issued 12-year and 20-year Eurobond on the international market, which were both oversubscribed. The 12-year bond was within days subscribed by 332%. The 20-year bond was subscribed by 372%.
We have stabilised the Naira, increased our foreign reserves from US$20 billion to US$40 billion. Inflation rate is down. With considerably less resources available to the country, we have improved all indices towards a stronger economy.
Above all, we must pay tribute to the Nigerian people. They still massively support the government in spite of distractions from exponents of “business-as-usual”.
Nevertheless, I am not asking us to relax and take things easy. As we all know, elections are looming on the horizon, we must, therefore, get our act together. Accordingly, I implore all members of the Party to give the Asiwaju Committee full cooperation to resolve differences existing amongst our members in the States affected. It is perhaps inevitable that there would be differences of opinion within the Party. If we didn’t have differences we wouldn’t be a genuinely democratic Party.
But we must not lose sight of our common purpose as a new Party to break the mould of Nigerian politics and take the country to new heights. Therefore, we have asked our respected Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead this process of restoring order to the ranks, manage differences and strengthen the Party.
Mr Chairman, members of the National Executive Committee, I must acknowledge that the pace of government has not met the expectations of many within our Party. But few of us knew or appreciated the depth of the hole when we took office. Thus we spent the last two years digging the country out of the mess we met.
Furthermore, the stand-off between the Executive and the National Assembly slowed the process of government. We are working hard to resolve the differences so that the country can move forward.
Soon, primaries for; wards, local governments, state and centre will be due.
I urge all members to take account of the fact that APC has a history of conducting free and fair primaries whenever consensus about any position is not reached. Regardless of thcomes of the primary processes, it is imperative that we all work together to ensure victory for our party.
Thank you

joudini: The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that the south-west has the second highest number of stunted children in Nigeria. UNICEF Communication Officer, Blessing Ejiofor, speaking at a meeting on child nutrition in Ogun state attributed the high number of stunted children in the region to acute malnutrition.
She revealed that 19.4% of children in South West are stunted, which is only second to what is obtained in the North. She said; “However, 19.4 per cent of children in South-West Nigeria are stunted. This figure is worse than the figure for the South-East and the south-south but better than the North as we would see during the presentations. This calls for more work by everyone –government and all of us.
“As agenda setters, we must do more to keep child nutrition conversations on the priority list of those that can act to reverse this ugly trend. “UNICEF believes that journalists can help set the agenda for action against all forms of child malnutrition, be it severe acute malnutrition or stunting. This, the media can do by creating heightened awareness among leaders and citizens.
The media remains UNICEF’s major ally as we work for every child, everywhere, to build a better world for everyone.

Motivated by the pleasure she found in entrepreneurship Prosper engaged in her craft even while participating in school unionism.
Before her tertiary education, she began with Ankara bags and shoes (male and female) and proceeded to apprenticeship on shoe making.
Later on, in addition to undergoing a mentor-ship in shoe making, the enthusiastic shoe maker said she was "outsourced by the Governor of her state due to her optimism and doggedness in her trade" to be among those that made the trip to China for the acquisition of the necessary know-how needed to advance in automated shoe making.
Exposed to large quantity shoe-making machines, Prosper said she took "the ritual a step further by learning how to operate virtually all the shoe making machines and the Chinese people were very friendly."
Today, while also encouraging other females to dare to be innovative, The UniProt student said she has "found something that makes me happy and fulfilled." Blessed hands |

Naaseer01: lies lies lies
Dan fodio fought Hausa rulers only when they attack him first (for self defence)in order to stop him from preaching the true teaching of Islam which was diluted at that time by the Hausa King with Idol worshiping like tsumburbura and barbushe idols in kano. and that's is what Dan fodio fought against. he was attacked, his students killed, their wealth burnt down by those rulers just because he preachea against mixing Islam with idol worshiping. and that is when he took the action of self defence.
he did not fight to rule totally but to ensure true teaching of Islam and fought against those tyrant rulers of that time who are dictators and oppressors of their subject. that is even why he get support of local Hausa people there.
Note : any other reason you would get is fabricated by the enemies of Islam. if you want to know shehu Dan fodio , go and read his book and what he teach. and you will know the true reason why he fought those rulers. and yes the entire nigerian Muslims are happy he did because if not we would not find a true Islam as we did today Islam and idol worshiping in Nigeria are like 5 and 6. All the Islamic marabout's uses Qur'an and Hadith's to perform ritual's. Usman Dan'Fadio was able to conquer the Hausa's because they have the blood of followers/slaves and not leaders in them. The Kanuris,Tiv and co., the whole southern Nigeria resisted them and send them back to Ilorin. The Benin Empire stopped them at Auchi and warned them to turn back with their religion anywhere they see the red sand. |

Ishilove: People say Edo girls fly at day time but just ignore them.
Edo people are generally easygoing people. They don't make trouble, don't find trouble, don't give trouble, unambitious and have not contributed anything meaningful to the growth and development of the country
People also claim the headquarters of witchcraft is in Edoland (first class azeh ) and their women often knock off their wealthy husbands in order to inherit his riches. Whether this is true or not, I am in no position to confirm or refute. Once again, IGNORE THEM.
They do not demand for an arm and leg during the marriage processes, and unlike certain parts of Nigeria, you will not need to break your bank to marry one of theirs. You will find that they will make most agreeable in-laws.
However, If you are a religious person, pray to God for guidance before settling down with your partner because love, good and evil does not know race, ethnicity or gender. With God, you can never go wrong Miserable ignoramus! Assertion based on improper enlightenment. You know nothing about the Edos. |
