Someone mentioned that I hate Fashola. Please for the record, I do not hate him. Someone else mentioned about factoring the population of Lagos in Federal revenue allocation. However, I refuse to buy that nonsense. Lagos state, apart from federal allocation, is the state with the best transform internal revenue commission that other state are taking a cue from, ask Edo state. Others confuse Eko-Atlantic to a social development by the Govt. Please it shows how we mistake other projects carried out by private individuals for state projects. Eko Atlantic is a solely owned private project by rich estate moguls and designed for the super rich. The state govt gave their blessing and are not contributing anything. We truly need to understand where and how monies are channelled towards providing infrastructure. If you say resources are scarce - yes- but what are you doing with the scarce resources at your disposal. For me I will score Fashola below par. His govt is being skewed towards secrecy and his affairs are not made open for public scrunity. That is not how to run a govt and that is not leadership. |
This investigation shows how disorganise Nigeria is and even Africa. Churches are reaping people off but when the question is raised, faithful christians will scream "don't let the wrath of God fall on you". It is amazing how a lot of people, under the pretense of God, carry out the act of deception. Everybody is shouting poverty but we have rich churches in this country. What is the role of the church to the society? |
If you include the internal roads then the situation is to bring Fashola for some trashing on his bum. Local govts are responsible for those internal roads but you know local govts are dead in this country because the state govts do not know their priorities. I have mentioned it in a previous thread, state govts have no business with roads but because we have public office holders who want to put up a show, they build a small road they rush to the press shouting dividends of democracy. |
Great. Now show us the pictures of the inner city roads. Inner cities like Ejigbo, mushin, ajangbadi, ogba, aguda-surulere, iyana ipaja, oshodi, oworonshoki, lawanson etc, roads being used by poor people day in day out.
What do you mean by poor people. Please change that word to regular people. There is no drainage in ikoyi and a suspended bridge was built (that does not even alleviate the traffic problem). The drainage in V.I is also in poor state. However, some people are here to deceive many. Do they go out at all? |
to you fashola haters, u can just belittle his achievement becos no govnor have measured up to him in terms of performance
I think there is something wrong with your remark above. For me there is nothing to hate about Fashola nor for anyone too. He is my governor and I believe I demand to know why certain things are not working. I also believe in terms of performance it is wrong to term him as the best. I have been priviledge to travel to many cities in the country. Also, you do not have a performance measurement index to use. I think Business Day is trying to do something like an award. Hopefully we will get to know. All we ask for are projects to solve the basic issues bothering we Lagos residents and not projects that add to the issues. Let's forget about Abuja, please visit Uyo to see for yourself what social infrastructure is. |
There is no road in Lagos that is devoid of pot holes. There is a pot hole somewhere to kiss your tyres. I went to Uyo I was angry I did not see pot holes. I went to Abuja the living condition there is still making me angry. Back to Lagos somebody is telling me Lagos is progressing and that the quality of life is improving with the noise pollution and wreckless driving from danfo buses. In another thread, a report showed that Fashola is overhyped and I agree. Airport road remains in a bad shape becos Fashola claims it is a federal road. But once it has been repaired, his fans will snap a picture and upload here. Where is the money going? - No water, public transportation is few, people prefer private schools and hospitals to public ones, inadequate security, dirt littering every corner, blocked drainages. Why would someone say it is an Ibo propaganda to demand for social amenities and Fashola is the best governor |
Please we must not tie ethnicity to this (The Lagos Project) becos it turns out to be the norm each case. I believe objectivity should be the case. I am interested in the Lagos project because I pay my taxes (which is even deducted from source. However some political big shots have been evading tax since inception). Fashola owes me a duty to explain what he uses my money to do (the one I cannot spend on myself). We need to begin to force these public holders to do the right thing. For Fashola fans, I am afraid that after 10 years I think Abuja might become the commercial hotspot in the country. The economic activities I saw in Abuja got me thinking. Rather than beat the drum for projects that are just on paper let's wait till they are completed then we can toast to the governor but only if there will be no additional levies attached to utilizing them. |
Previously I say little when Fashola fans start beating the drums when an award paper for a project has been signed (pls note work has not commenced just award paper). These political fans have done nothing but confused the general public about the realities in Lagos state. It is amazing at how much the state generates from tax and federal allocation yet little is known by the general public on how these funds are channelled towards providing social infrastructure. The Governor in his aim to address the insecurity situations in the state set up the Lagos state security trust fund and private companies donated to this project to provide weapons and vehicles for the lagos police command. I know this because I donated N10million on behalf of my organisation. Now certain projects are being carried out in conjunction with private organisations. Also, tax levies are charged on some public projects after public funds were used to fund them. The general public must note that the Lagos state govt has also claimed responsibility for some projects being implemented by the Federal Govt. Now the big question is - what is Fashola doing with the revenue being generated from this state and why is there no transparency in Lagos state govt? Why has Fashola threatened civil servants with loss of jobs if they disclose information about the running of the state? My only advice is that the general public should not be carried away by the sycophants frequenting this forum with chants for fashola but to create time to visit the state and see for themselves and make their own opinion. Please don't form your opinion based on pictures posted here. Many have claimed that Fashola is the best governor in the country. However, I feel otherwise after my visit to other cities in the country and these cities rely mainly on Federal allocations alone. |
deeptesting: I am happy someone has brought the attention of Nigerians to the deplorable state of roads in Alimosho Local Government Area..The submission of the reporter is nothing but a perfect condition of the people living in that area, the worst case scenario is your attempt to connect Cele Bus Stop from Ikotun in the morning..It is not just about the award of contracts on paper and some shallow minds will be celebrating; it is about the completion of such projects within a reasonable time to alleviate the suffering of the people..This is the same issue with the Buknor-Ijegun road been handled by HI-TECH or HI-ALOMO,which has been under construction for over 6 years without any visible progress..BRF should come to the aid of these communities and award contracts to competent contractors and not charlatans.God bless you and your generations |
If I am the president I will have a secret meeting with the V.Cs of all public universities and find way to scrap ASUU. I will also do so for Labour. Their strike actions yield no results. If Nigerian students don't know please let them know - there is a huge preference for private university students than public universities by employers. If Nigerian students are supporting these selfish lecturers it is at their own deteriment. |
Fantastic report. I have said this previously. Fashola is overhyped. No be the same Lagos we dey so? Or am I in a different state? There are so many silent achievers whome people do not sing and dance so much for. But to note, Fashola is working (with a slow pace). The money Lagos generates does not match the present infrastructure in the state. |
naptu2: Roads, healthcare, transport, job creation, security, tourism, agriculture, housing, urban development, etc. I'll be back in the evening with evidence (including pictures) of "nothing" (I'm going to spend my weekend on this thread).Chief let the visitors come to Lagos and make their own opinions known. Before you flood this thread with intended projects and make people's opinion to change. |
Many of us are sycophanting for Fashola now and probably the next governor. However, I am astonished at how economic power is shifting to Abuja. The moment Financial Institution cite the head offices in Abuja, Lagos will cease being the economic power house of Nigeria. |
naptu2: www.mydailynewswatchng.com/2013/05/25/fashola-sanders-inspect-igborosun-farm/Are we now celebrating intended projects or completed projects. Please I refuse to be part of those people who will celebrate intended projects or uncompleted projects. I will only commend the governor when the project is completed and the economy is benefiting from it or there is improvement in the quality of life. E.g. Lets take the Lekki-Ikoyi road for illustration. I remember vividly the governor saying that the road will alleviate traffic congestion. However, that is not the case. There is still traffic and even more traffic congestion and to make matter worse, we pay money to access the road and still be in traffic. Then I ask myself, why is the governor embarking on a project that will not solve a problem and why are people singing, clapping and dancing to a project that is not solving any problem. It doesnt make any sense to me. The lekki-ikoyi bridge is a wasted project, a waste of tax payers money. We know how our leaders are with resource management. They are very wasteful and clueless. They cannot distinguish between Value Added projects and non value added projects. All to them is project - "My people want me to work". |
toni68: We caAnt find any project in ejgbo on that list!Ejigbo is a forgotten place. I dread going to that area. There are so many forgotten areas in Lagos. So we need to be objective when we applaud the governor. That is all I just want to say. I must commend Fashola's humility and his ability to want to work. I must also commend his ability to fix the Lagos State Internal Revenue though I hear it is been runned by a private company that gets a commission. We all need an all inclusive government. Local Govt should be empowered. Road construction should be Local Govt priority. That is why I get angry when people begin to sing and dance when I see another road construction award letter. |
For me the question I will ask the next governor are What are you going to do about the traffic situation in Lagos and how soon will you resolve it? What are you doing to do with the danfo buses and drivers creating a menace in Lagos? What are you going to do with Social miscreants, hawkers and beggers littering the streets of Lagos What are you going to do with housing; like the Jakande era? What are you going to do on road repairs and how soon will repairs be carried out on the roads? What are you going to do with providing quality and affordable education? What are you going to do with the huge tax revenue collected on an annual basis? What will you do on transparency and accountability? |
Peeps go to Uyo. You would hardly see pot holes. I am currently in Abuja, apart from the satellite towns which I understand the Govt is addressing in phases, you will hardly see pot holes. Go to Calabar the same. But these people are not singing the way we Lagos residents are singing. The air I am breathing in Abuja currently is different from the Lagos air I breathe and I am not joking. Naptu is still showing me roads, the same roads I am tired of seeing. The same roads that make me change my shock absorber and tyres. I do not hate Fashola. I admire the guy. But can we be realistic for once and stop painting the wrong impression to the general public. Lets allow visitors make the comments themselves. |
naptu2: I've got so much to post and so little time in which to post it. I'll probably spend the weekend here.Like I wrote previously, it would be wrong of me to say that Fashola is not doing anything. I am only unhappy with the fact that the praise worshipers sings to both complete and uncomplete projects and even projects carried out by Private companies. |
ba7man: @Boss13. Imagine if Lagos gets 2 more sucessive Governors like Fashola and they all complete 2 terms each. Lagos would be World-class by the time they're through. Now you are talking. Lagos is not there yet. A lot needs to be done. So if I am Fashola I will tell my singers to stop singing because we are not 10% at the finished line. I will be wrong to say that the Governor is not working at all but with the praises I get to hear and read, one who does not live in Lagos will feel Lagos is now a transform haven. Please we should say it as it is and that is me. Rather than paint a wrong impression which may deceive others. Lagos is changing but at a slow pace but it is changing. More work need to be done on transportation and regulating the madness of danfo buses and drivers. They are responsible for 70% of the traffic in Lagos. A lot of work is required to done to social miscreants, areas boys who stand on the road and disturb the peace. They are a security threat to Lagos residents. In agriculture, I don't think the govt can do much, because Lagos is a city and most of its land are already occupied. However, the government should implement the water programme. Many locations in lagos are without water. In education, the govt must understand its priority here and compete strongly with private schools in this sectors. I believe buildings are not only required here. The quality of teachers and the syllabus should be looked into. Roads - The only place the govt is working. More can still be done. The govt should stop centralizing on highbrows areas like Ikoyi, Lekki, VI and Ikeja and go to Alimosho LGA. Housing - The govt is not doing anything here. Affordable homes should be constructed. So that Landlords will not kill their tenants with high rents. The new tenancy bill was hurriedly passed and should have addressed rents properly. |
ba7man: So you don't regard.... |
naptu2: Wow! So you mean you can't see what's happening in agriculture, job creation, transportation, housing, road and bridge construction, etc? Wonderful! Please be specific. Agriculture - Please note that Lagos is not an agricultural state. Our non-oil contribution to the GDP just grew to 7.1% and Agriculture is still 3%. Lagos is not contributing. Job Creation - This is induced by private companies. What is the LASG doing itself to induce economic development and job creation. Transportation - BRT buses are a shame. I have never riden it and I will never. I was thinking about it in the past because I want to see the buses. They are now glorified molue buses (poor maintenance). Private buses a.k.a danfo buses still rule the lagos roads. They are responsible for commuting about 80% of Lagos residents. So the governnent is not doing anything here. Housing - We got news that LASG intends to building some houses. This has not been transparent enough. I have gone to their websites and even when the houses are completed, an average lagosian cannot afford it. But for now housing is still a pipeline dream. Roads and Bridges - I have talked enough on this. He constructed the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge with tax payers money and toll it. it is a beautiful bridge but I do not understand the economic sense. It was meant to alleviate the traffic situation going and leaving Ikoyi but it is not working rather it is a money making venture for the government. The govt has also abandoned other areas that truly require road construction. Please prove me wrong and don't be generic. State your point. |
Mr McJay: Why don't you spend a weekend in Ikoyi and see another side of Lagos? I'm sure you'll apologise and edit your post.Laughs. Honestly I do not reside in Ikoyi but I know the place better than you (I am not bragging nor do I intend to insult you). I go to Ikoyi almost every day. So to reply you, you should visit Abuja and you will not be able to compare Ikoyi, a place without drainage, to some locations in Abuja. |
naptu2: Do you know what will happen if Fashola decides to remove those beggars from the roads? Do you know what will happen if he decides to sanction the bus drivers and others who cause the traffic jams?Fashola deported some destitude from the street. I was not opposed to that. I supported it because they are a security risk to us. But to address your question, these are visible problems and it affects every Lagos residents. Why pretend things are okay when they are not actually. If these things have not been sorted out why take up drums and start to sing and chant Fashola is working. The quality of life in Lagos is generally poor even with your money. The environment is still very dirty. We have mad or semi-mad people running around Lagos. We got wind of news on the Lagos residency permit that should have kicked off since June, it was even advertised (I saw the bill board on Ahmadu Bello way VI). However, we are not hearing anything anymore. Now lets talk about roads - Go to Alimosho LGA my brother, if your car comes back the same come and collect money from me. It is taking CCECC almost 2 years to finish Ago Palace road and also only 1 section of the road was awarded. Almost of the roads in Lagos have been constructed. They went bad because of neglect. So Fashola is only repairing roads. If he was constructing be ready to pay toll gates (I do not support that). Fashola has done nothing in providing water. I dug bore hole myself. He is yet to improve the security situation in Lagos (Though I understand he is limited here due to centralized policing). He has done little in providing jobs and yet we want to make Lagos a world class city. |
ba7man: Its the people that thrive in the "Madness" of Lagos that are against Fashola.I am not seeing the change, I am not feeling the change but people are singing change. Then I look around and ask myself why the hell are they singing change. The man has used 6.6years in office and lets get serious here what physical changes have we seen? I can count them. Then why are people really making other Nigerians feel like Lagos is truly progressing? If it is tax revenue collection, I can say yes but infrastructurally hell NO. I want people to prove me wrong and lets start counting the infrastructural development in Lagos. |
Sundahjoe: On a normal ground, we are nt suppose to praise the LASG or FASHOLA for the developments of the state because its their priorities, its their duty to provide us amenities because we pay taxes. Bt what if they fail to as it akin to other failed goverments, dat is why we praise them so that others will wake up to their duties. I think LASG should focus more on rural areas than the metropolis or urban places to balance it in terms of achieving a mega city status. Regions like Agege, Ajegunle, Alimosho, Ayobo-ipaja, mushin, etc needs more developmental projects (roads, housing, bridges, transport, water supply). In terms of votes, Alimosho gives ACN most % in the governorship elections, but wen it comes to spreading projects, they are the least. Just look at ipaja-ayobo road under construction about 2years nw, a project that should lasts for 16months. Abeg tell LASG to look into this. EKo is my home, Ko ni baje o!Let me be blunt. What development are you talking about? Are you talking about road? Are all the roads in Lagos motorable even in Ikoyi, VI and Lekki. Is LASG providing your with water in your house? How about housing? What about education (I dont know mean repainting the schools. I mean the standard of education. Can it be compared with other schools country and world-wide?) What about Agriculture? Is Lagos really producing any food? What about Security? Do you really feel safe living in Lagos? Honestly, the only work I see it planting of flowers are repairing already constructed roads (especially in VI and Ikoyi) and why will some people start chanting that Fashola is working and Fashola himself is admitting that he is working. Gawd!!!! |
Fashola is truly working. Working on roads or rather repairing roads. There are so many abnormalities that needs to be corrected in Lagos and they are not receiving the desired attention. I am currently in Abuja and I have been here for a week. The sanity in this place just want me to break down in tears when I compare it to the madness in Lagos. I can truly estimate the number of minutes it would take me to get to my desired location. You can hardly see hawkers knocking on your car window pressurizing you to buy their wares. You can hardly see social miscreants loitering around the meteropolis. Everybody in Abuja seem to be doing something (my own opinion). Nobody is disturbing the peace. Taxi fares are incredibly cheap. People are not running around and dancing on highways. The air is fresh. The roads are surprisingly good without potholes smiling to finish your shock absorber or puncture your tyres. I dont have to worry about mad and drug induced danfo drivers driving and screaming at the same time. Shockingly, the power situation is too good to be true (22hrs constant power supply in this same Nigeria). Now I understand why people in Abuja do not want to stay in Lagos. Also, I truly do not understand why sycophants continue to beat the drums for Fashola (even when he is doing his job). Please these people should take out time to travel to other cities in this country (lets forget about out the country). I have spent my entire life in Lagos but I have never, in this country, felt so relaxed breathing fresh and unpolluted air. |
kennygee: If the man can take care of her, it's not anyone's business if he's ugly.Seeing the stomach alone. You know he can take care of her. That stomach is oil well |
obowunmi: This man is lucky that he's rich. He's so UGLY.He is not ugly. he is just old. money is sweet |
How did you discover this? |
lawizle: D only thing dat sweeps a woman off her feet is a man with a good sense of humor...ds kinda men always get se.x for free and some women might be generous enough to sponsor dem..Chief you are over-exaggerating please. |
Man up and confront her. You will be relieved you did. Its very easy. Please just bang, no commitment. |

The Mushin-Isolo link bridge. This is Surulere-Isolo link bridge. Commendable
