So, here's something funny. All the while I thought Lagos was processing my visa as all correspondence to London was always redirected to Lagos. On getting the visa, it turns out it was issued by London. I have these: lagosimmigration-at-international-dot-gc-dot-ca and Ldnimmigration-at-international-dot-gc-dot-ca michelle5567: Thank you. I will try this. But from the correspondence letter it is Nairobi that was processing the visa. Should I email Nairobi instead?
I only have this email address Lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca
Please does anyone have any other email address? |

Sincerely, I have no idea what it's about. But i'm leaning with the name; and assuming it's to ascertain the authenticity of the claims on your application. johnsonsegxy: What is this background check like?
Is it to verify every document you sent? |

Hi, I don't know how you can go about this, but I have a suggestion that might work... this is a very big MIGHT. So, you could get your passport renewed - this can be done in one day, if you go with up to 30k, I think (not so sure about the amount) - then send a CSE/update stating that you want to update the passport number because your passport is about to expire. OR You could just submit the passport you have, when it expires while in Canada, you go to the embassy at Ottawa to renew it. kerry101: Hello House,
Thank you for all the useful tips and comments on this thread. I will like to know how I can go about this. I am one of those silent June applicants and deferred my admission to September this year. Thank God, I was given a passport request but the problem is my passport is expiring Nov 2019 that is one month after stepping into Canada and one of the passport requirements is that they do not issue a visa beyond the expiry date of the passport. What do I do? Thanks. |

You can still make it. 5 working days after submission of passport, send London an email telling them your school has resumed and you need to go asap. I hope this helps. michelle5567: Hey guys,
I have been a silent follower on this page. I did an online application. My first application. This is my timeline.

After this I didn't hear anything from them. Sent them an email and also laid a complained via webform.
Approval came 10th Jan. I will submit my passport tomorrow. I want to know from people that have gotten theirs how long it will take for my passport to return. Also explained I had travelled to UAE twice for work training and also to Ghana, Cameroon and Chad. And I also was returned back to Nigeria.
-at the end, I did a summary of my expecting expense for 1year including return ticket to Nigeria. Then I did a summary of how much I had in my account to show that I have enough money.
I attached to my SOP , my CV, bachelor degree certificate and, IELTS result, birth cert, old passport showing visa stamps to those countries I mentioned, UAE visas I got both times I travelled, training certificates I got from the training in UAE.

Mrmoshood: Hello Nairalanders,
Please I need you to shed light on this.. I've seen my counterfoil online buh I have not gotten letter of introduction, I don't know if am going to get it along with my passport or online. I don't know if it's needed. Thanks for your anticipated response It should most likely come with the passport. I did get mine online. If you're still uncertain, email Lagos immigration office about it. But i'd advice you get the passport first, open it at vfsglobal and check before leaving there. The letter of introduction is VERY important, without it you'd be sent back to Nigeria. Print it before travelling, have a copy of it on your person. |

Determinedsoul: Plz help me with this. It is needed urgently. I have filled and printed extra page 3 of stdy permit asking of working expetience but I couldn't validate it. Because if I want to validate it I have to fill the whole form again. So should I just print out the page like that without validating it? And should I attach it immediately after d page 3 that is validated or after the last page?
PLZ tnx for your urgent reply. I just don't want to mess up when I get there. Tnx Yes, print without validating. Attach the other employment histories after the first validated one. When I applied in '17, the staff collecting the application helped me arrange my documents... I don't know if they still do this tho'. Also, go with extra money, so that in the case of any mistake you won't be stranded. IF there's any mistake, don't print with those people outside Manor Hall, there are other places, speak to Keke drivers and the ones who know can direct you there. |

Please don't get me wrong, i'm not asking people not to help, i'm only saying 'don't ask like you're entitled to his profile.' Yes, you include 'please' in your requests but word the request like it's a request - that's my point. And if you think i'm wrong, no problem, we're all entitled to our individual opinions. Also, I'm sure there are people who have received one or two valuable advice(s) from here who still never even joined and didn't deem it fit to post their profile after approval/rejection or any other thing here. Also @makano, I didn't join in the 15th week of my submission, I joined after my application had been approved. @dubaiboy1, no hard feelings felt bro. @042viber12 no, God didn't come down from heaven, He didn't have to I had His word to do that for me. Please properly understand wordings before being all hot and bothered about them. Peace to you all |

On this, it isn't mandatory for him/her to write his/her full profile. I wrote mine because I wanted to. I was way in my 15th week of application submission before I was told this topic/thread exists. Nairaland didn't help me with anything, God did. So saying someone should "drop your full profile" like it's compulsory is wrong. IMO. makano: Please do the needful by sharing ur profile to the house(If you have not done so). You have learnt from this house, so it will be at least kind of you to drop ur full profile of ur application. Peace |

My application has been approved. Here's my timeline, and a summary of the documents I submitted.
Online application Application: 24th of July Biometric: 25th July Biometric receipt confirmation: 27th July. I sent several messages to London, but kept getting 'your application is actively being reviewed' Sent London immigration the 4th message on 15th December, exactly 20 weeks, 1 day after submission. Lagos responded on the 17th saying 'my application is being reviewed' 13 minutes after my application was updated to 'medical requested' Medicals: 21st December Passport Request/Medical passed: 28th December - 1 week after medical was done. Passport submission: 28th December I kept seeing 'no record found' when trying to track my Passport on vfsglobal's website. Sent Lagos immigration an email on 3rd of January telling them my school resumed on that day. Correspondence Letter/Application status updated to 'approved': 5th January. I'll be going to get my passport soon.
Documents submitted: SOP, BSc. transcript, school fees tuition receipt, sponsor's account statement for 6 months (can't remember how much he had, and he lives in Canada), my bank statement for 1 month, financial support letter from my supervisor, my mum's land deed, acceptance letter. PS: if there are other documents, I can't remember them now.
Note: I applied twice in 2017 and was denied. In this application, I prayed, fasted and had an unwavering faith in God all through it all. I can't give anyone my SOP because I don't know where these documents are right now.
School: Brandon University Course: MELS - Masters in Environmental and Life Science. |

You could do it the same way. |

You need to get admission letter from a Canadian school first for a minor before you apply for a study visa for the minor. Which answers your first question; Yes, a minor needs a separate application for a study visa. OOAAD: Hello house,
Do minors require to fill a separate study permit form and questionnaire along with the primary applicant?
if yes, please what information should the provided on the educational section when there is no school admission document for the minor?
Thank you all for a prompt and positive feedback. |

Hi, I just submitted my mum's land deed along with my sponsor's statement of account. Pimi: Hello house, please has anyone gone through the process of getting evidence of landed documents during the course of the Visa application? I'm trying to get mine I don't know if a land evaluation from a real estate agent would be enough. Do I have to get any form of seal from a surveyor general or something like that?
Please I need answers from people that presented any form of landed documents. Thank you |

Naijaforeigner: Let Me use this opportunity to challenge every nairalander most especially those ones already in Canada studying to please try and help people coming to their provinces or cities. Please come in here and see if there is anyone who just got visa and is coming to your city or school. Please let’s help each other, it is not easy for people just arriving. They will save so much money if we point them in the right direction.
Dont just get visa, arrive Canada and go off from this thread. Some of the mistakes we made when we first arrived as students, we can help others coming to Canada avoid it. It will save them lot of cash.
For example, lonelydude planned to stay in hotel for 3 days for about 250 dollars inorder to help him get accommodation. I contacted him and suggested he looks up accomdation on Kijiji and off campus accomdation of his school while in Nigeria, look out for apartments that were within his budget, get the phone numbers of the landlord/agent and forward them to me. I will call the landlords and help him fix viewing of those apartments for the day he would be arriving (01/01/19) in london so he can view all the rooms the same day he would arrive and then make a choice. That way, he will end up staying in hotel for just 1 night and move straight the next day to his new apartment. To the glory of God he got his apartment same day he arrived London, ON. He viewed I think 4 apartments and made his choice.
I got to know lonelydude on this same Nairaland Just some days ago. We are students and we should help each other in any way to save cost and help each other adapt easily.
Today 02/01/19, we will go and open a bank account, get a SIM, show him shops he can get stuff and thereafter, he will be on his own With a sim, data and bank card, he will be able to navigate around town easily. This makes life easy and saves lot of cash.
There are some things I have got to realize on getting here but when I have made my full research (confirmed and reconfirmed), I will come and share them here openly. God bless Nairalanders.
Apologies to anyone who sent me SOP and I could not help out, I have been extremely busy.
Special shout out to Thecongo2 once again for leaving his family on new years day and spending almost 4 hours of his time driving us around London. There is no way your children will not find Favour anywhere they go in Jesus name (amen). Hi, please do you or Thecongo2 know anyone in Brandon, Manitoba? I'll be coming over in a few days and want to get accommodation sorted out beforehand. Thank you. |

Christycode: I've been following this thread for two years, though I've been a ghost member. I applied for admission at Keyano College, undergrad studies, nursing to be precise, around Feb 2018,but due to d number of people seeking admission nd the fact that I met d requirements, my name was wait listed nd I was given admission to study prenursing while waiting for d main admission, the school told me to use that for my visa application. I applied around May 2018 for d study permit processing, using d same admission letter nd was refused around July Reason: Insufficient funds and purpose of travel. That same July I got my main admission letter (Nursing) but it was too late cos d program was to start Sept 2018.I was sponsored by an organization nd they had N6M in their account nd dat was all I provided as proof of funds, the school doesn't accept fees from outside Canada so I couldn't deposit or pay full tuition nd the school doesn't defer nursing because it's very competitive so I had to apply again around October, I applied on time this time and was given the admission (Nursing) immediately. Now I'm planning to apply for my visa January or February. I really wish someone will put me through the process so that I won't make the same mistake. Also,my dad is late nd my mum has three houses, can property be of help? Hi, I don't know what you mean by 'putting you through', so I can't really help with that as i'm relatively new to the application process myself but I can help with the ones I know. About your mum's properties, if it's possible for them to be valued, get their official monetary values. Also get documents for the properties, ones that show them in your mother's name. Scan them and use for the application. Use them under financial support documents. |
