Senator sanni has been the only northern hausa/fulani politician that has tried to be a detribalised politician/activist always speaking his mind and version of the truth irrespective of whose ox is gored! he has earned my respect and support for any higher national service because frankly speaking, based on history and antecedents, there's no other northern politician right now i can trust with my country's future.

sorry, you are the one in denial here.

this is probably the end of my involvement in this intellectual masturbation.

you claim ur initial point was that schools in Nigeria were generally tribalistic. that's a lie from the pit of hades! You actually said south western schools are monoethnic.

you saw a post about a lady with good scores who wasn't admitted into OAU. instead of 'thinking' about what the possible causes could be. and ways to help out....

you went for tribalism...with virtually no proof. unfortunately, you scored an own goal. ur mouth has been left bloodied. dazed and faced with the fact that the lady is already a student and there may be a mixup somewhere, you stagger around and stumble on some 'concepts'...

Oh! My goodness! cheesy now i see the source of your annoyance Phi001 and baum1 help me out here please, i was concurrently interacting on two different threads without keeping track, this one and its precursor, in the precursor i actually said all Nigerian schools were tribalistic and i singled out Uniben and Unilag for highest praise and Unillorin for highest condemnation, i actually even said southeastern and northern schools were probably more tribalistic than southwestern schools so chill brother what i meant and what you understood are on parallel lanes, nobody's fault probably

now you have shifted the goal posts. I will no longer engage you in this dance of folly.

to set the record straight. you suggested that this particular girl did not gain admossion into OAU because she was from delta state and not from the south west.

now that its apparent that she is already a student of the school, you have 'changed mouth' and danced away from the crux of our argument.

the fact is you made a baseless, ill informed , biased and hopelessly unfounded statement. and it came back to bite you...

the lady is a student of OAU. and she is not Yoruba. deal with that....then we can talk about nepotism
My initial point if you read it through thoroughly was that Nigerian schools in general were tribalistic, some more so than others. That you argue with sentiment and self righteous conviction does not make you right, my goal post never shifted, i only gave you leeway to validate my point to the limit of your understanding vis-a-vis nepotism not being tribalism and i suffered your lack of conceptualisation of my points making me patiently explain to you with hypothetical scenarios! That you still don't get it is no fault of mine! I am only responsible for what i say and imply, you on the other hand are responsible for how you interpret it

but definitely not tribalism. u were bang out of order there.
No i wasn't, at what point does tribalism become nepotism and vice-versa?
The distinction between the two is very blurry and gray if there's any distinction whatsoever!
For example, you're in charge of admissions and you're from lagos, two students, one from cross rivers and one from a place near your ancestral home in lag who happens to be your second cousin fall on the lower spectrum of the confidence interval for a given course and you have to pick one of them to complete your list, the cross rivers applicant edges the lagos applicant by 0.005% points which is statistically insignificant but that difference exists, you pick the lagos student knowing he's a vague relation of yours but rationalise it as it being his luck, afterall, 0.005% is insignificant forgetting that the other student and people from his area won't see it as such and they allege favouritism which let's be honest it is, so on your scale of morality, nepotism is less worse than tribalism but how are you going to reconcile it to your conscience? That it is not tribalism? Good luck convincing yourself

she actually submitted seven courses
here's the prove
And this proof says it is the fault of the schools e-portal admin/designers who made one of her subjects unavailable on the day she filled and submitted her form as is corroborated by the other twitter user with whom she's having the conversation so still the schools fault!

But then again the school knows that and they also demanded for scanned copies of results for verification purposes and the computer science she was unable to compile into the form she filled online was very ambiguous in it so if they must calculate her o'levels over 8 subjects, what is their excuse this time? undecided except to give excuses and apportion blame to the student which will fly on superficial examinations but fail when critically assessed

Candidates are required to
1. Update jamb data
2. Upload results
3. Upload scanned copies of credentials
I would say it goes further to buttress my point as to avoid any semantic disambiguity i wouldn't claim to know what upload results (No. 2) means in this case whether filling an e-form or uploading a scanned copy
Also No 3. Which is what will be used to validate No. 2 if it is filling of forms would also place the omission at the schools doorstep for that is the actual valid legal tender

just because there is a difference in their abilities doesn't make it any less of a rip off, just like some Android phones copying the look of iPhone isn't less of a ripoff because of their OS and functionality.
look, appearance also counts for rip off and ofcos u don't expect Thanos to look identical to darkseid. like I said it's a well known fact in the comic world, except you are trolling I dnt see the need for you to convince yourself it isn't.
if you ll based ur argument abilities, that means Namor isn't Aquaman ripoff? or Quicksilver isn't of flash or Deadpool isn't of Deathstroke or Ant-Man of atom?
the list is endless
difference in ability isn't enough reason, no company wants to b sued hence the modifications in appearance and ability.
and it's funny how darkseid is Justice league villian likewise thanos is Avengers' right even for the upcoming movie adaptations.
1. I'm not a troll
2. I argue based on the characters i'm familiar with as i can't and won't claim to know them all
3. Given what i mentioned as my second point, i am familiar with grundy and hulk, darkseid and thanos
4. From point no three, the little i know makes me disagree about hulk being a ripoff of grundy in any fashion be it origins, character, powers, weakness e.t.c and you haven't contradicted that assertion. Also, apart from the purpose they serve as the ultimate villain, there's nothing similar about thanos and darkseid, not even their motivations so saying everybody knows or everybody says doesn't hold much water with me.
5. You can accuse me of being in denial if you see me write that aquaman isn't a namor ripoff, or antman of atom, or quicksilver of flash or deadpool of deathstroke! Those i didn't contest, neither did i contest characters i'm not too familiar with.
6. I only contested what i know and can defend, there have been ripoffs both ways but only add real ripoffs not blatant lies in a bid to make a sides list long and stoke further argument.

That is my exception

Or that the additional course was registered but not written.

Besides, she wrote 9 subjects. Why she submitted 7 is beyond me...and I'm sure she submitted 7 because if she submitted all 9 and only 7 were included in her transcript, she would've complained.

It's not a calculation of what she made in her waec but what she submitted.

Perhaps, you've not seen her transcript. What you submit is what is calculated for you.

The fact that she's not new yo the system doesn't mean she couldn't have made a mistake. You're firmly certain that the provost/OAU is to blame...but analyse again.

Admission process is now different.

If she submitted more than seven but only seven were accredited to her, she would've have complained.

Her transcipt's?

I think universities now have more authority to exercise in admission process. All thanks to this ranking of a thing.
So if 8 subjects are required and only 7 are submitted, she has herself to blame.

There was this one time when I was in SSS2, Chemistory exam I think.
4 theory questions, 25 marks each, 40 objective questions. I forgot to answer one theory question and I lost 12.5% for that singular mistake. In fact, I argued with my teacher until he showed me my mistake.
While filling a jamb form you fill in all your passed courses including the ones relevant to your course of study (check and confirm it) and the subjects the school chooses to use in its compilations in addition to the compulsory five are at the schools discretion, what this means is that in absence of a post UTME form filled with deficit of one subject by the student seeing as there is no longer a post UTME, the school uses what the student filled in their jamb forms and as such the error of omission can not be from the student.
What we're discussing is a probability theory, and this theory in the absence of proof to back either our suspicions skews higher to the omission coming from the school.

Even if she submitted only 7 subjects but submitted more than the required 5 o'level subjects as required by JAMB, she would have to make an F in the 8th subject for it to be used to compute her overall O'level GPA. I have told that to OGA pHi001 and even used example of real university courses.
Exactly!
In the absence of an F to account for a missing result and given the fact that she's already a student there and as such not new to the system, that leaves the most likely source of the omission to be computing error on the part of the school admissions board, I would love to be proven wrong though

if you're going to accuse an institution of tribalism....it shouldn't be ife. or any school in the south west for that matter. I met lots of Igbos and hausas and even a few ghanians in ife as recently as 2013. and they still remain my friends till today.
I have been around my friend though i don't expect you to take my word for this, the examples you gave do not invalidate my statistics. Yes i said ife was an institution affected by tribalism but i also said it was less so compared to majority of the schools around Nigeria and i used uniben as a gold standard of some sort not because it is totally detribalised or because i studied there but because in comparism to other schools i've been to, uniben and unilag are the most diverse ethnically, unilag for obvious reasons, uniben for the fact that their merit list remains untainted by any other consideration to the best of my knowledge (I can still be proven wrong of course). In my time i applied to ife and uniben in different years and gained admission into different courses in both, i turned down a couple of admissions in my time because maybe i was a bit conceited and arrogant believing i was very brilliant and admissions came to me easier than other people or because i was kind of pampered and sheltered with my parents more invested in me going to school than i was but point is, during the admissions search i got around and though uniben was never my choice, i was basically bribed/coerced to take up that admission and i look back at my wasted years with regrets i also got to learn about many back doors to gaining admission into Nigerian universities and i'm saying point blank that there's tribalism in ife's admission, at least there was back then
