Your money won't mean anything if your not dedicated to whatever business you want to start, except you want some1 to manage it for you and which for that, there are consulting firms that can do that here.
If your looking for a high yield on R.O.I for a business, well sorry to break this to you, there are alot of businesses that will reap you high profits but only if you are that dedicated to it.
Now the question you should be asking yourself is,are you willing to start a business because of high yield returns or because your willing to make it work and make a living out of it or do you want someone to handle the stress and give you returns.
I did go with the second question as it will lead you to to answers to the first and third question.

Make and sell softwares that will be of relevance to small and medium scale offices.Do a research for this and provide what they ask for, pricing is one thing you will have to cut down on.
When you have designed something tangible, mean with some venture capital firms and see how they can help you market the product.

Did you guys forget that there are email spiders that will get any mail address on this site. Why do you think most of us space our mail and sites e.g miailki @ yahoo . Com. Well it seem's zain went one wiser on us,as they have closed most tunneling ports apart from your basic http and https ports. Oh and let me be the first to say,1 hour to go.

If you have previously used a tunneling software, that tends to happen, cos it will change your connection to a proxy, check you internet options on your internet explorer and find out if your default connection is via your phone if it is,change it,also check connection settings and select autocheck for connection settings

If its a software issue then you need to format if not you can check the next time you start your laptop press f8 to let it start on safe mood,if it starts safe mood then know you got no issues,if it does not, well let just say i hope you had backed up your system to a back up disc.again if its hp press f3 to run a system recovery.

Turn your laptop up side down you will see a key for your vista,or buy it at computer villa

Gab as long as it ain't land, cos we got a long list of real estate clients.check us out at http://vicnigeria. or mail us at vicnigeria @ gmail.com,although we are considering a marketing plan for car sales, cos its currently the only area that has not been so hit by this credit crunch, people are still buying sporty luxurious cars

Its not,but to be on the safe side, find out more about the isbn cos thats a general must, but one will be breathing fully down your neck about it.
Hope your mag is gonna be juicy, cos you will have very stiff competition here in LAGOS,
if your considering some other state other than lag,i did advise you go after a mag and an ad letter.
Ad letters are usually distributed free to people, one makes his money from the ads in the letter.one advise, pick areas you know people will like to know about.
Wit the ad letter launched, you can use it to know what people think about your product before you launch the mag,as a follow up.
You can hire marketers to handle the process of getting ads for both the ad letter and selling the mag.

I feel you my brother.
I had a friend come in from uk,two after he came back he ask me and a friend if we could show him round town, what i didn't know was that i was taking a lesson in wardriving.
He was basically looking for places with wireless access points and hotspots which he promptly cracked their W.E.P keys networks around sweet sen allen and adeola odeku on the island.
Each of the networks he cracked took him between 15 and 45mins,in one case we had to leave the laptop in the car while we ate.
I asked him if its possible to crack a W.P.A key,he said its possible only that it will take some time and possibly some take home assignments.
We finally ended the day at a cybercafe around my area,it took him only 5 mins to access admin status of the cafe, copy data of their ticket serve, and 3 other users systems and as our tin finished he logged of the admins system from the network.
I had to ask myself then,if some of us got wiser, what would happen to network safety in nigeria.Becos its seems we don't care

I got to to ask this,is everything about cisco or IT in general in this country, about exams and dumps and simulations.
Don't you guys ever go out to develop newer areas in cisco or tell the firm what their machines need to do and how you think you can make it do it,or write a new configuration code ,or try to actual check the security system of other cisco routers around the world and tell cisco how and why you could crack into them.
Or is it just our culture here to just read to write exams and wear a shiny barge that says certified. But can't do nothing to add to the system, and be remembered for it.

More funny thing about these tools, are that the creators post videos and manuals showing exactily what these tools can do.
Although some of them work on linux os eg nimblex and backtrack, meaning a need to learn unix commands are needed, but hey imagine after seeing the video's,men you would go find a unix command manual to learn some.

The funny part is that with up coming hacker and new treats to networks, you did think that most net admin's and engineers would be learning more and more ways to secure their networks.Instead they are not.

I finally come to the conclusion that most network engineers and administrators in Nigeria are pretty dumb. They go around doing and thinking theoritics rather that being more practical.
I won't say i'm a total IT person,i don't even have a certification, but most areas i know eg webdesign, graphics, networking, ccna and bits of vb. I learnt on my own due to my interest and liking of it.
Which brings me to my topic.
I had a chat with a friend who is a network engineer and certified ccna dude about the ease at which most networked equipment can be easily compromised in nigeria, and his saying its not possible than nigerian's aren't that advanced.
Which annoyed me,cos normal every day users of mtn and zain mobile internet have found ways to perform some basic url attacks.
More funny is the availability of a myriad of free network penetration tools on the net, that can be used to perform some major damage,to either a cabled or radio networks.
Tools like cain and abel, aircrack ng suite, backtrack.

All of these we accomplish by partnership,a laptop,a printer, and no start up capital.
I won't lie that it has been easy,it has been hard. But with our level of commitment, marketing and dedication we have been able to achieve much.

Check us out a http://vicnigeria.

Using our different experience, marketing,IT,consulting. The three of us came up with varying products which we developed by creating a partnership with other firms to market their products and services.
We developed a laptop sale product that affords our client the opportunity to pick a laptop and pay on delivery,or via installments.(the laptops don't belong to us nor did we purchase or expend any funds on them).
We also developed a marketing firm for small businesses, this aids these businesses sell their products and services.
A consulting service to locate newbies and small businesses and aid them in starting a new business or expanding and improving existing ones.
Also a service for funding business ideas and small businesses(totally handled by our partners,we just locate clients for them).
And finally,a product designed to provide small businesses with a web presence and a massive email marketing campaign for their product and services at a very cheap rate.

Mike its brian,i just sent you some more ideas you can look into, but left to me,the post that guy gave you for investing the money in a bank and going off to do your youth service and law school, seem's like a viable one.
Not only will you be doing something but it will give you time to research the business terrain in nigeria and make up you mind which area to dabble into.

Lets look at prospecting for clients.

When given a product or service to market, what comes to mind after the long trainings and talks.
Most would get to it by going out and pouring the styles given to them by their trainners on their prospective clients.
Some will search the streets, offices and shops for would be clients.
While a fraction will take out time to sit down and build a list of possible clients, with varying approach styles to getting at these clients.
Out of the three options, option three is the most important, one needs a list and processes of approach for dealing with varying individuals out there.Building a list keeps things organised and also organises your time and means of getting at clients.

its said that we are involved in one form of marketing in almost every thing that we do.
Our life is a constant negotiation for something.
A baby is said to be constantly trying to market their needs and wants to their parents and others around them, who can here their voice when the cry out loud.
We market ourselves constantly in purse of those we feel affection for, trying to get their attention and their notice.
The situations varys accordly to different areas of our daily lives. In each case we are trying to convince someone to commit to us.

In this thread we will be covering the areas of marketing.
From being a beginner in the process, what happens when one meets a client, how to put forward the proposal, what to signs to look out for when speaking to a client, the direct approach to prospecting, how to build up a network, client listing and many more areas and solutions for those of you out there,in different areas of marketing,be it products or services.

Also please feel free to drop your opinions.

The best way to motive employees if by making them feel like they are part of a whole, not just employing them to handle a task but enquiring from them what they think of the task or asking them to proffer solutions to problems in other areas other than their own job area.
Imagine a situation where an employee in the administrative area of a firm is asks what he thinks about the problem in logistics area of the firm.
Or when employees are asked to organise a brainstorming session to look critically at the problems they face in the area of employment and think out subtle or realitic solutions to them.

Its known that most people see problems only, but when all their problems are gathered and they are asked to look at possible solutions, you did be surprised at what types the will recommend.
That process has been tested an tried in other countries and it has been shown to bring employers and employees closer.
It prime's to the extent that an employee see's himself as part of a whole,a whole he willwant tosuccessed

I just like to enquire if there are consulting firms in search of individuals that can strategize to solve problems in the nigerian employment sector.
Jobs that require high level brainstorming, research and development, business and strategic planning.Jobs that make an individual think, not just the monotonous going to work to receive a pay cheque at the end of the month.
I need a job that involves solving problems for the firm, developing new areas of business, researching and developing new products that are worthy for the Nigeria.
In essence i need a job that i can put my all in to help the company achieve its maximum success.
Is there such a job,is there such a firm.
If there is,then feel free to contact me,tell me what you have and lets see what my experienced mind can come up to.
Because for me its not just about getting a job but getting one that will be really involving, requires multitasking situation and allows employees the ability to come together and think for the growth of the firm.

My question is what type of security business.
Deployment of guards or setup and sale of security gadgets.
If guards then your budget is small for even one location, because you will have to employ train, find locations and deploy.
With so many major security firms in nigeria eg halogen securities, price guards, pentagon securities. You will be up against some serious competition.
Security gadgets on the other hand,is an open market of which there are many options of products and producers to pick from.
But first research you the area first before you rush into it,

Its not been an easy task but our effort and our ability to think up new arms and business areas that are within our experience scope has given us the clients,we need to establish a base with.
I have found out that when you want to start a business, don't just look at cash and a need for a office, just look at making it look professional first then start.

For one who has worked in 2 different states and in 4 different sectors,it was easy for me to step out on my own.
I work in the oil and gas sector when i finished my service in 2006,went into the security sector 3 months later, dabbled into insurance marketing in sept 2007,then to mobile softwares in jan 2008,to palm kernel supply by feb 2008,to working for a consulting firm by june 2008,to finally running my own business in feb 2009.
In each case i saw what i was doing as gathering experience for later.
I never knew that experience would come to bear now.Cos it ain't been easy for me and my partner.
Imagine working out of each others home with no office or initial capital but using our gathered experience to start a marketing firm that employs marketers for small businesses.A laptop sales arm helped by a large pull of partner firms in computer village thats sells laptops and get paid only delivery any where in LAGOS and A webdesign arm that designs mini sites for small businesses.
