Experienced mums please help o ooo.....am home alone with a sick nursing friend of mine whose 6months old baby is having serious catarrh and breathing with extreme difficulty. ....he is SO restless. ..We have given him Vit C since yersterday. What other home remedies can I do for the boy to open his nostrils fast The mother is so sick and can't do much for him.
Please you people should help me ooo

Went to the market yersterday and Oh Lord Jesus, my mind wan cut small ooo as this project go gulp 100k plus if care is not taken ooo even with the buying essentials first and other things later ooo..
Anyways for FTMs that were looking for price ranges ,here is what I saw ooo...

1.Body suits - (George which is a set of 3 was 3500naira , Carter which is 5 in 1 also 3500naira. .

2. Sleep suits- (A set of 3 in 1 too was 3500naira -4000naira

3. Bath- foreign bath (10k-15k depending on the type you want; Nigerian made - smallest grade 2500naira, higher grade- 5500naira

4. Baby net and foam- smaller grade 4k, foreign 6K

5.flannel - a set is 2500naira

6. Receiving blanket - different grades ranging 4k- 6K

7. Shawl- different grades too, 2k, 3k, 4k and even 5k. The better the feel, the higher the amt

8. Drier ( hanger)- Nigerian made metal ranges 4-6k , plastic 6k -8k, ;foreign 10k- 20k.

9. Cupboard - Nigerian made (black horse)5steps is 8500naira, 4steps is 7000naira . Foreign is 30k and above

10. Towel - 3 in 1 ranges btw 2500naira to 4k depending on quality

11. Face towels - ranges from 500naira to 1500

12. Water flask - Vigorous Gint( breakable) that mama's here recommended is 5,500naira for 4liters

13. Clothes clip -ranges from 300 naira and above

14. Mittens- 500naira and above depending on grade

15. Diapers minisize - huggies USA 6k, other good brands too 3500 and above. ..

16. Feeders - Nigerian made 500naira each, foreign feeders (nuby 4k for a set of 2, Chicco 2500naira etc

17. Baby's cream, oil and lotion - a set of sebamed 7k, soap 1500, chicco 6k ,soap 900 ....there is boots, Johnson USA , cussons etc, which ever your money can buy

18. Comfit sanitry pad -250 each

Other items that you can always buy later (mamas on limited funds)
Carrier - 4500naira - 7k depends on product.
Walker - 8k and above depending on product
sterilizing unit - boots 8k, Chicco 13k
Breast pump - manual Tommy tippee 7k, electric 21k

Mamas on restricted budget like me, find the nearest OK markets and pick some of your babies wears like cover all's, socks, caps etc. Wash, put in dettol, iron and pack. You are good to go....

Other mama's that have shopped , or window shopped, share your prices...

You can go for another scan some where else....when asked date of LMP, tell them you can't remember. ...let's see what date it will give. Look for where you can get a VERY sound sonographer and you can do 4D scan. Please don't delay.. because if you are actually that 41weeks the other Doctors told you....you have abt 5days to get baby out.. before placenta starts degeneration. ...

Scan now for EDD may not be that accurate cos its the size of your baby that will be used to calculate it and if your baby is big, it will likely give you an earlier EDD than if the baby is not big. Your amioniitic fluid level is a likely indicator to whether the baby can afford to stay longer or not...

She's scared... Is the coartem safe for her? Will coartem plus augmentin not be too strong for her? I.

Does the Doctor she is pregnant and in first trimester? ?? Coartem is not usually administered in first trimester o ooo
Again, her husband needs to be tested and checked for the UTI too and treated to avoid reinfecting her after treatment. ...

i just drank a big cup of zobo boiled with ginger, zobo spice(I no no d name), garlic, unripe pineapple including d peel, & seasoned with sugar & blended unripe pineapple juice... omo, I tot there was no mor space in my tummy ooo but d way my LO dey active ehnnn, hope am safe My whole stomach is just vibrating!

You should be an August Mum . Please on your next ANC visit, ask for hospital list. It could have been an oversight. Please go and pay that 30k into the bank so you dont misuse it. You need all the money you can raise now for your baby...

How many weeks were you when you had your first scan? Where you between 11weeks -13weeks? ?? Dating scan done during that period usually gives a more accurate EDD than those done later....

25th- 30th that you have fall in the same range. This other Doctors that told you baby is overdue, how many weeks did they say you are?

Good morning mamas,dis is my first time on this thread,came in frm ttc thread.i am 10wik 5days.last scan was very okay.stopped taking my prenatal vitamins in 7th week due to the nauseaus feelings i get after takin dem,doctor sed i cn stop them buh i shd take more fruits and vegetables.the problem now is,doctor is not in support of pregnacare,but i rily think i shd start taking it becos i av not heard any negative thing abt it,infact,i took d conception and got preggy that same month,pls i need your advice

Congratulations on your BFP. We are happy for you!
Am sure Doctor prescribed some routine drugs for you to take. You can take those ones too....they do what pregnacare would have done and much more sef. Preferably take them at just after dinner to prevent the nausea...Don't stop taking your drugs please, fruits may not give you all you need.
Some mothers take pregnacare because it kinds of combines all those vitamins into just 1 or 2tablets instead of taking 4-5different tablets at once....

Pregnacare's iron content is a bit low so if Doc notices that your blood count is not that ok, would prefer you take these other tabs as their iron content is higher.

Are you a FTM? Start with buying all the things in your hospital list first....Then you buy baby bath, drier (hanger) , baby soap, oil, cream, sponge (if it is not already in the hospital list ), pampers and wipes that will take you for at least one month (hoping that you will get some as gift after delivery ), baby bank . That's the few that came to mind now....Other experienced mum's will contribute

Haven't bought anything myself yet cos of this same money issue but am going to the market today all things being equal....Will share prices of some items I saw when am back...
God will provide all we need to take care of this blessings he has given to us.

My 2cents advice is, please go and relax yourself. ..babies add weight rapidly in the last few weeks before birth...so it's possible for your baby to an additional 1.5kg btw now and delivery date if you are not careful. .

Calmmmm down na . By unripe I mean the one that is partially ripe, some part ripe and some unripe. ...That unripe one with Zobo is very fine combination. ...Give it a try...But keep an open mind ooo cos there's is a possibility too that it may not induce for you if baby is not ready. ..

Brace up mama. ....NOT every first time Mum has a tear during Labour. You may not have. Don't worry yourself about it...Follow your midwife or Doctor's instructions in labour ward. Read on exercises that you can do to prepare for labour. Remove the anxiety. ...you don't need it now. Like I tell myself, if 16, 17yearolds can do it, then I CAN DO IT!

The enzymes that help induce contractions is more in unripe pineapples and unripe paw paw more than in the ripe ones.. so switch to the unripe ones please. What was your baby's position in your last scan? Have you done another scan since you clocked 38weeks? Was the baby breech ?
Stop being anxious. You don't need that anxiety so you dont raise your b.p please. ..

Though i did not stop eating frm d first day of preggo till d last, i even woke up at midnight to eat o cos of serious hunger! Tea plus frisomum plus anything goes. DD came out @39.1wks weighing 2.7 yet i had tears. I was like y? D doctor said i shd ask my mum n mil wat dh n i weighed at birth. We did and got to knw both of us didnt come out big at birth. Dr said so nature took place. I am 30 wks now n scan shows d baby is small too plus i take tea.. My advise is just eat what's healthy 4 u n lo. It is well.

Please, it's not true that whatever you eat WILL Not affect baby's size ooo. Let's not mislead other mama's who may not have any idea on this. IT IS A WELL ESTABLISHED FACT THAT genetic factor(hereditary ) and eating pattern are factors that determine birth weight please!!
Your case what played out well was genetic factor...
So it's not wrong to advice a pregnant mother especially from 30 weeks( this is when babies start putting on lots of weight) to cut down on a certain class of food to avoid too big babies...

Again too, baby's weight is not the only thing that causes tears ooo. But it's is also an established fact that as a First time mother who already is more prone to tears than a second time or third time mother, a big baby puts you at a higher risk of tears too!
In your case, your perineal skin (skin btw your VJay and anus) most likely not stretch out well before you pushed resulting in the tears..or your baby had a broad shoulder. ...These are other things that causes tears too.

hahahahaha. is nature. i had small bump with my first pregnancy, no one knew i was close to delivery but my girl weighed 3.7kg and everyone was amazed. this mighg weigh 4kg plus, i wonder where the baby is hiding., maybe at the back

Nne , don't worry your own better. . Make the baby hide where ever e wan hide . As long as when it's time, he or she comes out sound.

N.a. to buy baby net o ooo . I can't afford not to buy one for baby ooo. There is one I saw that doesn't come with bed, looks like an umbrella kind of. Was told 4500naira. .. Will need to get something like that. .

Sorry about the swollen feet. What's your b.p like? Can you trek for at least an hour every evening ? ?? Can you kpekpus with hubby everyday if possible ? Have you tried eating unripe pineapples and paw paw? ?
