Abeg i get small question o.....what is meant by bad blood in pregnancy? It happened to one woman i know, she's had two babies- both dead . After birth, the baby will stay for some days and then just die like that. Pele then said that the woman has bad blood and that she ought to take certain injections after birth . So what is bad blood?

It's the woman's rhesus factor they mean. If the woman's rhesus factor is negative and her baby's own is positive, it can lead to the babies death.This is because her body sees her baby's blood as foreign (harmful)substance and will produce antibodies to fight it. During delivery, these antibodies are passed to her baby which will later destroy her baby's red blood cells very fast. Red blood cells carry oxygen and without enough of it, babies die. An injection is usually given to such women to stop them from producing antibodies.

Reason is because down here d injection causes dem 2 slip n b unconscious 4 a whole day or 2 n I dnt lyk 2 see dem lukin dat helpless n nt being able 2 meet deir babies immediately. It depends on the type of anaesthesia that was used for the woman. This spinal anaesthesia administered these days allows the woman to be conscious but it will only numb a part of her body so she doesn't feel any pain during the CS. It effects wanes very soon. If it's the other general anaesthesia that sends the woman to complete sleep, it takes longer hours for the effects to wane.

Yours is a very different case. You are battling high bp. So yours is very understandable and it is commonly the practice. In your type of case, Doctors try to see if they can manage the woman at least to a stage where the baby when taken out can survive withOut necessarily needing an incubator.

Please, anyone who can, should remember me in their prayers. Was asked to go for another scan, which I did, and d doc says my placenta is still low lying ( I'm almost 33weeks), and that if it doesn't move by 36 weeks, he's scheduling a cesarean for me. He's placed me on small bed rest. No lifting, no exercise, no kpekusing, nothing... To prevent bleeding, which he says could be fatal...
You guys should just pray for God to have His way and keep my baby and I safe. If I say I'm not worried, I'm telling a big lie...

Our jolly mama, please don't work yourself up. You still have 3-4weeks for placenta to move up!!! Meanwhile, as much as you would want a VD ,be open minded about a Ceaserean section please. A CS doesn't mean a death sentence neither does it disqualify you as a good mother!
That being said, why would your Doctor book you for CS in your 36th week? Are you having protein in your blood? Are you having high blood pressure? Why would he not allow you clock 38 weeks at least? Please ask him these questions. ....You need to know why...

@kaffy4bill , nurses & docs, please when is the light bleeding likely to stop & also still have mild cramps that is off & on.

Sorry for your loss. With time the bleeding will stop completely as long as it was properly done. It depends on your body. Not to worry. Hope you were given antibiotics too. Just keep taking your drugs. You will be fine.

Our prayers continue for our May mama's to have their babies safely.
Read last night about Zobo drink here and some one recommending it. Was too sleepy to type anything.
Word of caution: Please ooo....PLEASE, for mamas in their first trimester or mama's with ANY History of miscarriage, AVOID Zobo drink. It induces menstruation and could cause miscarriage in the process. Studies even suggests that breast feeding mother's too should avoid it!!!
If in doubt, you can Google this . Just type side effects of Zobo drink or hibiscus flower tea(that is the English name for zobo) .
One may know some one who took it in first trimester and had no issues. That doesn t necessarily mean it's safe for you. Just like this unripe pineapples and paw paw issue. There are those who took it in first trimester and had no problems. But that doesn't change the fact that these fruits contain substances capable of causing contractions. Playing safe and staying on the side of caution always Mamas. #my2cents though!

So for the story to make sense I need to start from d beginning. Hope it won't be too long though. So my first baby came at 41wks 5days so I don make up my mind say na induction once I reach 39wks as I no fit wait for 41wks. So scan showed I'm expecting a girl so I was happy Dem put the thing break my water and by 7:40 my baby boy appeared weghing 3.7kg looking cute and no tear. 2am Nigerian time for 4th.

Congratulations once again!! High five to your cutie. But this scan thing erh ...so even for Oyibo land and all their expertise, dem still the make mistake too. Issokay. Raising people's hope anyhow .
Your Doctor did well for insisting on a later date for induction sort of. Quick recovery and enjoy your princes

Hello mums in the house am new here, though av been following of recent so at least i knw mum zaynie the tax collector. Had a miscarriage last year at 18"weeks,took in two months after, then wen i was 15"weeks in this pregnancy had incompetence cervix nd a threatening miscarriage, had a cerclage done. Had a scan done after that nd they said there was funnelling, was ask to be on bedrest. To cute the long story short after 2 weeks went to see the doctors nd he checked me did another scan nd said that the first cerclage wasnt done well dat i should come nd do another cerclage was confused, but i declined cause the money was much. So now its just me nd God. Am just,, 20 weeks gone.

First of all, welcome and make yourself comfortable. Sorry for your initial loss. We don't pray for a repeat. You will carry your baby to term. From what you have said, I guess you are using a private hospital ? The cost of cerlage in private hospitals are usually very high. Please I would suggest you register in a government hospital also if you have not done so. Cost of things are usually cheaper there at least. Also you get to receive or get sound recommendations from experienced gynaecologists.
Some mamas even attend antenatals in 2places (govt and private hospitals) just to be doubly sure.

. But I'm confused.. As usual with my previous pregnancies, no vomit, no spitting, no loss of appetite... I eat like a glutton sef. But my temperature is never low.. Hot all through nii and between 10am and 12:30 noon I'll be so light as if I'll faint. Na only my own different?

High temperature at night especially as long as you have tested negative to Malaria in first trimester is normal. I had it too. My temperature was always high at night. You can take a malaria test to rule out malaria.
For the light feelings during the time frame you mentioned ,Hope you are not always hungry by then ooo . Eat and have your stomach filled during that time and see if you will feel same too.
No more losses for you please!!! Hitch freee 9months are my desires for you.

My long bump at 39 weeks. Currently in the hospital early stages of Labour. 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. Bs will soon be rolling out by God's grace. I promised to take front bench this may and My God no fail me....

Pele dear. I also purged for more than a week o! Funny thing is flagyl and amoxil dey gave me could not go down. I threw up afta takin it that I had to leave d office b4 close of work ytaday. Didn't take anytin and it has subsided.

God did a miracle for you by making you vomit that flagyl . I don't know who made such a mistake of prescribing flagyl for a pregnant woman even if she is purging. Please any time you purge and you are not sure of what to take, just buy ORS (oral rehydration therapy ) and take . It's 50 naira a satchet or so. Buy from a pharmacy.

Teamie , not too good but then needless worrying as something can be done. You will need to double if possible triple your water intake to help your kidneys work better. Eat lots of fruits especially those with anti oxidants power such as water melon and cucumbers. Cabbage too is very good.

The last thing you need now is that anxiety please so that b.p doesn't go up. Dont be tired please. You had been given an early indication that you may likely be having a C.S. This may only go to confirm that. All you really need now is A COMPETENT MEDICAL TEAM (gynaecologist and nurses) that will handle your case properly so that be it a C.S or not, you and your baby will be fine!!! God be with you! Keep us posted.
