Am reporting live from Grandma's place

The Nurse on duty wrote down the time I gave my first scream. The contractions had started. True to what the Nurses said, even though the timings of the contractions were not too close, I lost interest in the food. I closed it. I did the deep breathing and exhaling thing when the contractions came. I couldn't even tell if it helped with the pains or not but I just kept doing it. Hubby said I should walk around, I shouted at him to go. That what does he know, where does he want me to get strength from and walk around. I told him I want to go and sleep and he left. I climbed my bed and closed eyes to sleep. For where! Who could sleep with such pains....when the pains came I would hold the bed so strong I could break it with my bare hands . I was in pains. I was soaked in sweat. I begged the Nurses to fan me . She obliged and sat by my bed side to do the little she could. I was literally breathing with my mouth sef. The Jaws in my mouth started hurting. Looks like I opened the mouth too wide to breath. I really tried not to scream ...then came a dustraction from my pains! There was another lady in Labour too so the Nurses on night duty were also attending to her. She kinda looked like she wasnt in much pain ooo but I didn't even know she was getting weak. She was taken to the delivery bed to push but she couldn't. ....Looks like forceps were used to deliver the baby . But he came out almost blue and not crying. ..

Omg come and see beating that was given to the poor boy. Head turned down, he was pinched repeatedly, no where! Eveen an adult that is given such beatings will scream in annoyance...The mother started crying....see Nurses running helter skelter! The brought Oxygen and stuffed his nose...he had swallowed everything swallowable....I was so scared ...for a moment I forgot my pains that were becoming unbearable. . After about 20 mins, he gave a very weak cry......I feared for the mother who was crying and praying....The boy was placed under light too. When the saw that he was a bit stable... One nurse rushed to stitch and clean up his mother....

Around 8.30, looks like someone lit a furnace and place my waist and pelvis over it. I started crying. I told Nurses I want to poo o ooo.....I want to push o ooo. The Nurses immediately screamed no oo ooo, do you want to wound your cervix and your baby...Don't push if you are not asked to ooo. I died! I was checked then and 6cm dilated! I was discouraged. ...i thought it's only when you get to 8cm that you have this kind of pains oo ooo.... the nurse held my hand and said ...don't worry, it will soon be over...I held tightly to it and refused to let go again. When the contractions come, I will hold her so tight n didn't realise when I pinched her in the process. .She said I will pinch you back o ooo... I said Nurse sorry please, don't pinch me back. .. chai....I humble!

Around 10.30, I was checked again and I was 8cm dilated. They broke my water... omo, e b like 3literes of water were rushing out from my VJ
The Nurse said before 12 am, we should be out of here...I started saying Nurse take this baby out from me now ooo.....She kept said you are the one to make that possible oo....
Around 11, she checked again and said thank you Jesus...I asked and she said 10cm ...time to push...She said push with alll your might with the next contraction.. next contraction. ..poo came out...na so so ooo I dey ooo... after like 10mins and I have pooed all that was in my system, no strong contractions came again...She told the other Nurse to setup Oxytocin drip for me....

Contractions came and I tried....God knows I tried but she said am not doing anything How could I not be do anything. ? Contractions came again and I tried...She said am not sustaining the pushing force....I tried and tried....no where. I just screamed at her at once...bring those forceps!
She held my hands and said....did you see what happened to the other baby... do you want that to happen to your baby...
Chai...that was all I needed to hear to muster all the strength to give my last try! I couldnt possibly watch my baby being beaten like that ....battling to save him.
Next contractions I pusheddddddd and she cut me thinking I no hear...lai lai. .I heard the cut! A third degree cut sef
He came out screaming his lungs out! I started crying. ...
Almost uncontrollably. .. So I was a mummy at 11.35pm Nigerian time! Placenta was delivered with no difficulty. It was big and they exclaimed they haven't seen a massive placenta in a long while. .....So a 3.5kg baby with a big placenta was responsible for my long tummy that had everyone expecting twin for me.

Tears dried up when she said. ..time to stitch....I begged for anaesthesia. ..She said no. That it will make vulva swell and stitching difficult and longer..I begged and begged... She gave me ...and started stitching. ..the effect waned when she didn't finish stitching! Chai....
I screamed my lungs out! That thing pain me!!!
I was recoiling back with each needle incision. ...I had to ask her how many stitches were left....She said 10. I started counting....1, 2, 3.......when I got to 9...I then reminded her 1 to go...She then said the worst...
She was starting all over again as everywhere was swollen and she couldn't just do one stitches. ..I don't even understand what she was saying. ...I cried my heart out...I started begging for C.S I cried n shouted...

Whoever invented Episotomy should be jailed for life with hard Labour! ! It was tooooooo painful me. ...Raw pain.....
I finally got up from that delivery bed after cleaning at 12 45. I couldn't walk well. Stomach pains from uterus contracting back and pains from cut didn't let me.

Child birth no be beans o ooo..at least it wasn't for me!
From my experience I realised that:
1. You don't only have pains when contraction comes...it's just that contraction pains are more definite kind of.

2. Walking when I'm labour didn't walk for me. Lying down did better for me. I would have exhausted myself from walking and wouldn't be able to push.

3. Induction was not so bad. My Labour didn't last too long. Pains started 6.30pm n by 11.35pm everything ended (apart from the stitching drama). Anyways, since I haven't had natural labour I can't compare much . But I think if induction makes labour faster, I will go with it again. No one deserves to labour for long please. You didn't commit murder.

4. Breathing helps( or so they say )...just try and breath

5. NO MAN DESERVES TO MALTREAT ANY WOMAN THAT HAS HAD A CHILD FOR HIM...! IT SHOULD BE IN THE CONSTITUTION. ....

My birth story:
My EDD from first scan at 11weeks gave me 11th August and Doc gave me 12th August. With each passing day, I looked forward to that date with excitement and fear tho. I was also actually wishing that baby comes before then. ....
From 36 weeks or so I started having lots of braxton hicks. In my mind, I was like my body has started preparing me on time for the real thing! 37 and 38 weeks it started to increase in frequency too. I was sooo happy I will get to meet my Lil one on time. I was so wrong....
Tiredness started setting in. Since the last scan I did at 28 weeks showed baby in breech position, I decided to take another scan to see if baby had positioned well. Yes , he had turned head down .

#39weeks came, nothing apart from increasing waist pain and tiredness.
Sleepless nights increased too. I was restless. How long more was I to drag this big long bump around and be gathering sympathy every where I go ?
I had started my evening walks...I usually came back exhausted but I tried to keep up because I had a target in mind. 40 weeks came and no results. Only swollen feet that made standing and walking a Herculean task...
Went to antenatal for that week, Doc said everything was in order and I should expect my baby any time soon. I went home disappointed kind of . I really wanted to hold my baby .

My body was not also helping issues. Given me signs non-stop. My Braxton hicks intensified. Cramps and stooling too. 41weeks came and nothing happened.
I virtually stormed my Gyn office asking for induction. He said he will start with his procedure. Wrote a pelvic exam and a membrane sweep.
I wrote my experience about that membrane sweep here! Choi ! Invasive procedure. ..that was the beginning of the 'choking hand business ' in my VJay. I was 2cmdilated, 50 percent effaced
2days after the sweep, I lost my mucous plug. I was happy baby will be here that week. A day later, I saw bloody show. All of that and still no Labour!

I then made up my mind for CS. I would be 42weeks in a few days time. Hell no way I would go past 42weeks with an additional day ! Not with all the birth announcements I was hearing everyday. ..

41weeks 5days later was a Tuesday, antenatal day. Went with DH. Bags packed into the car. Immediately it was my turn to see Doc, after exchanging greetings we told him we want our baby today! He laughed and said am too serious. I didn't bulged. I told him the theatre should be prepared. He smiled and said I should give VD a chance. I told him I did but Labour not coming and I don't want a failed induction either. He assured me to give induction a trial that it won't fail. I quickly accepted and wrote for misopristol insertion. He said I should go bring my bags , we said we were with it already. He laughed and then before handing my folder to me to take to delivery suite, he said 'let's strike a deal...no shouting or screaming when you get there'....see me nodding my head like agama lizard...

Immediately I got to delivery suit, was told to change to top and wrapper or bra and wrapper only. I changed immediately. Climbed on the delivery bed and the drugs inserted. This was around 3pm. I came out and was gisting with hubby from then till past 5. Nurses asked if I had eaten. I said no. They told me to eat. I said I wasn't hungry. They reminded me that I will need the strength from food later. I reluctantly told hubby to get me food. He bought rice. Mumsy brought eba. Was just picking on the food sef. Nurses told me to hurry on the food that once the pains start, I won't remember that food again. I didnt understand sha. I still managed to finish the rice and was still gisting with hubby. I grabbed eba And started eating. Around 6.30pm. It was as if someone landed a heavy slap on my pelvis and waist. I didn't realise when my voice gave me away

Yes, rainbow lite is better than pregnacare. Other brands that have VERY good reviews include mega food baby and me, garden of life vitamin code raw prenatal , Zahler Prenatal , Thorne basic research prenatal, New chapter perfect prenatal. In prenatal vitamin reviews in the US, one or more of these brands must be included in the reviews as best in the market. I
Sad news is that if you are in Nigeria, you may not easily find them to buy. I looked for it tire...I No see. I managed to see Centrum in Abj pharmacy and after I finished that one, I couldn't find another to buy. So was forced to use pregnacare.

Mamas please ooo, pregnacare is NOT A MAGIC FORMULA FOR BABIES OOO THAT if you are not on it , you or your baby is missing out! If you can comfortably afford it, fine. But if you cannot, you can buy another brand of prenatal vitamin or take those ones given to you in your clinic. You can also buy those vitamins in pregnacare and take individually such as vit. C. Folic acid, calcium that contains vit D, ferrobin plus or astyfer(not astymin) or any other iron containing supplements.

My beauty regimen is painful o ooo. My skin is becoming insensitive to hot water as the hot water pressing and bathing every morning and evening is not funny oo. Pains at episiotomy site has reduced a little. Swollen legs have reduced a little but bp slightly higher tho but no cause for worries yet. Sleeplessness is the culprit. But back pains still there.

Ekene has been circumcised. Cord has fallen too. Looks a little bit bigger than last week. I really need him to add more flesh so he can fill my hands when I carry him. I still can't bathe him yet. Looks like he will break in my hands. Grandma does that....
I need to open a diary for him sef....

As 4 lo, make sure he is latching well, if not he won't get satisfied n he ll continue 2 cry even after spending hrs on d breast nd u don't want 2 add bruised nipples 2 ur agenda right now. Pele, u ll soon get d hang of it. God bless dem 4 us.

It's been a rather frustrating /nice experience for me so far! Abeg where those FTM without help of any kind You people are the real MVP! Oh Lord....am running mad already! Mum +househlp +hubby is not helping at all... I need more hands oo.

Episiotomy pains have been hellish for me. I get scarred of sitting and standing up, toilet time. Mamas here have been economical with the truth ooo , episiotomy wounds are painful ....or is there any something making mine worse I was told no warm water to touch there as the stitches will dissolve. ..how do I do my sitbaths? I really need the wounds to heal. It's affecting me psychologically. How long do you people say it takes to heal ?

Breastmilk was not out for the first 3days...that was another hell...dude cried the world down once he wakes. Pacifying him without anything wasn't funny oo as Doctor/hubby insisted no complimentary food . Now milk is out and he screams heaven's once nipples are out from his mouth . I don't think I have had up to 24hours sleep since his birth on 23rd!

My legs are so swollen and most times painful. Need to get bp checked today .It's not funny ooo. It's getting exhausting!! Today is immunization. ...God help me please. ...

But you know what? AM NOW A MUMMY TO A CUTE LITTLE MUNCHKIN

Our goal has been mother alive, baby alive and father rejoicing. ...so whatever measures need to be taken to make that possible should be fully supported(CS included) ...

That being said. ...wishing you ALL the best and nothing but the best.


Our twin mummy Vannywealth, Tmama86 and Apeke1991 have been quite absent for too long. We look forward to good news from them. Evacroft, Fruitfulvine360, Bintudon , Ada234 too have been missing in action too. Anyone heard from them ?

I still dey oh! No sign of labour at all, went for an ultrasound last week and my lo is doing well so I and hubby decided to wait it out till next weeknd, though I have an appointment with my dr on Tuesday and whatever he says will be final.


We dey wait. I don resign from long walk since it has failed to induce labour rather na my leg dey hear am, the office wey I still dey go don do me.

No be only you stop to dey waka as the waka no come do anything for man pikin joooor. We shall soon share our good news Sis

True. I was feeling strong 2weeks after and even wanted to attend meeting then but pple said its too early. So i had to wait till the 5th week.
Whenever you feel you're strong enough to sit for the 2hrs without lying down, then you're good to go.
