Syncan:Amen. Have a blessed Sunday as well. |
It really is shameful that in 2015 we still have abysmal power supply. when will this suffering end? |
Kamsified:Hi all, psalm 121 for me please. For continued peace and happiness in marriage. Enjoy your weekend |
kilokeys:I think our resilience has become foolishness or Stockholm Syndrome in some ways. How can we be suffering for this long but say we are resilient? No one else accepts this suffering where something can be done about it. |
You could ask the same question of majority of sports.E.g is a tennis player intentionally harming himself by constantly rotating his shoulders or wrists, how about the ankles?Or athletes who have to constantly train their bodies? Boxing is a sport that is well regulated-you cannot hit below the belt, you've got to wear gloves etc.unlike the gladiators who fought to death in st Pauls day. The aim of boxing is to outbox your opponent through still and speed. you'll find that most fights will end by points or TKO. It is dangerous but so are most activities we carry out to one extent or another. Obviously, it becomes a sin if a boxer goes in to harm intentionally for revenge, personal vendetta or get undue advantage by drugs or using hidden weapons. Generally,I believe boxing does more good than harm.eg.unruly kids are able to channel their energy. My opinion |
supereagle:I seem to remember the Abacha stove run on saw dust during the Abacha regime. Obviously, fuel scarcity is a perennial issue in Nigeria that needs to be tackled seriously, whatever the cause. |
OrlandoOwoh:Hoax!! you might want to check your source. This story ran on NL a while back https://www.nairaland.com/921452/taiye-taiwo-turns-25-today |
micktoxin:This is the guy the UK immigration pulled up,right?I wonder what ever happened to him |
I choose May 24th. God bless |
JMAN05:Yes,the apocryphal books are not inspired but the deutero-canonicals are inspired.two different things. I'm sure that you're aware that the apostles mainly quoted from the septuagint, which had the DT books. I also mentioned before that the same Jews who rejected the DTs are the ones who also rejected the NT. You might reject the DTs as inspired but the early church says otherwise. Who do we believe? |
Agreed. For too long Nigerians have suffered with this power supply problem. I just hope that the new government can genuinely address this major issue and alleviate the suffering. Regular power supply=better security, more jobs, better healthcare. There is a lot of work to do as our current generation capacity of about 4GW will not even meet Lagos state power demand |
When will all this sufferhead end in Naija!!others are moving on we're dealing with fuel scarcity in 2015. |
brocab:Yes the word 'catholic' means universal. However, this was used to denote the true church established by Jesus from the heretical groups of the day. In our day, you will agree that there are more groups(over 30,000) claiming they know the truth so it is even more pertinent that the word catholic is used appropriately. We noticed that your doctrine is different from what the catholic church teaches and since you have not proven you are the true church establised all those centuries ago, how do we accept your version of events. You are aware that Jesus prayed the we all be one. Nevertheless, we are brothers and we'll keep praying for you. As to your arguement about priests and confession, will you say the same about baptism or preaching the gospel? God bless. |
Scholar8200:Yes, the books are inspired but your basis for knowing this is weak. Chapter 1 talks about the gospel but this was very likely referring to the oral rather than written gospel. (No books were mentioned) Please go back to the history of the bible complilation. The only time anyone definitely removed books from the bible was in the 16th century by Martin Luther. In the early days of christianity there were obviously debates as to the canonicity of scriptures, which books were inspired or not etc. but no council defined the canon until the late 4th Century and difinitively by the council of Trent in the 16th Century. In all cases, the DT books were included. If by the hebrews you mean the supposed council around 100 AD, these people also rejected the entire NT. There is no Christian council that ever confirmed that the 7 DT books were not inspired. In fact the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and oriental churches (All linked to the early church) all have the DTs in the canon. All I'm trying to point out is that your conclusion of certain books not be inspired is not based on historical fact. |
Scholar8200:Re. 2 tim 3:16,this does not prove the NT is inspired. The NT was not in existence at the time.he was referring to the OT which wasn't even canonised at the time. How can you tell from 2peter1.21 what books he was referring to? Going by your logic of deutero-canonicals not been quoted from (although not entirely true), how about songs of Solomon, Esther, Ecclesiastes. These were not quoted from either. Why isn't Enoch part of the bible? Jesus did not list the OT books in Luke 24. Deutero-canonical means 2nd canon as opposed to the apocryphal books. Your conclusions are based on protestant tradition and does not prove that the deutero-canonicals are not inspired. |
urheme:But the scriptures do not give a minute by minute commentary of everything that happened. He's given you a relevant citation. At least try to understand that there may be a lot more to it rather than dismissing all together. I think the issue you should be looking at is one of authority i.e.how can you tell what is doctrine or not. E.g. is the consecrated bread and wine really the body & blood of Jesus or not. |
smoothpapuzy:God knows your heart and intentions and will judge accordingly. The priests are not always readily available as mentioned by Syncan. What you can do is to show perfect contrition and pray to God.You can then go to confession at the next available opportunity. You could also try another Parish. If you're concerned and have proof that a priest is neglecting their duty, you can raise it with the bishop as well. |
brocab:Seriously brother, you're helping no one here with your futile interjections. I'm sure this has been mentioned before. The poster came on this thread to get a catholic answer not some random brocab answer. Please show some respect and consider opening another thread to do your preaching or air your views. We'll keep praying for you. God bless. |
The dogs will keep doing that until trained properly or put down, unfortunately. Dog owners need to ensure their dogs are trained adequately, I wonder what laws we have in place for dog handling like this. Hope the guy gets better with good treatment. |
Scholar8200:This is quite a claim here. How do you know the deutero-canonicals are not inspired? In a similar vein, how do you know any of the NT books is inspired? |
homesteady:The time limit is a discipline/church rule not a doctrine or dogma. The time limit can be changed by the church if it deems it fit.In fact, the time limit used to be longer - (fasting from midnight)and the eastern Orthodox still practice this including sexual relation abstinence between couples night before. As a previous poster mentioned,it's all in preparation for receiving Christ. As for not been explicit in the bible, remember that it is the church that is the pillar and foundation of truth(1 tim 3:15).It decides how we are to live our lives as Christians, the rules, doctrines etc. as Jesus gave the founding Apostles the power to bind and loose. |
We take too much nonsense in Nigeria, a supplementary election shouldn't be an impediment to day to day business,. when would we be truly free to live our lives in Nigeria? |
runningback:Suit yourself bros. However, do note that America is known for a lot more than you've listed. |
runningback:Whilst it's true crimes are committed by various nationalities, unfortunately for Nigeria there isn't much else to write home about. Most of these other countries at least have some major positives intentionally. The perception of Nigerians is one of fraud and Boko H. For instance, I'm aware several organisations have a Nigerian scam awareness session. We,Nigerians, have to change the perception foreigners have. |
I throway salute.Have a wonderful weekend all.God bless. |
Definately making me salivate . Would love these foods to be known worldwide like chinese or indian meals |
I think you may have some misconceptions about the Catholic Church, there is nothing to be scared about.the fear is that of change which occurs to most people in other circumstances as well. I'll suggest that you try to learn about the church properly and you may have a different opinion about it. You may want to raise this with your fiancé and get him to agree that you're willing to keep an open mind but will like to learn about the church. Ultimately,it should be your decision if you wish to convert or not. Your decision should be based on your love for your fiancé, if it's strong enough you'll both do what makes you happy. |
geosilbert:I doubt that the British don't judge their own....they're well known for going back in history to prosecute past crimes to serve as a deterrent. Who are the people who have stolen more Ibori in UK but not brought to book? |
HARDDON:Well aged blood,I suspect you'll rather have the 'business as usual' snail pace so called development with the country mirred in corruption. The country voted to change this and at least GMB is taking a stand against it.He needs to be given a chance without the personal attacks. Let's see what he does, then you can judge his actions. "To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing" has been the case of Nigeria for too long - let's change tact, and I think we have started. |
HARDDON:Development plans hardly ever work with institutional corruption. This is why Nigeria hasn't had significant development in any sector over the years. When corruption is dealt with head on,you'll find things will fall into place. Security, which is also a big issue and one of his priorities needs to be tackled. |
Happy Easter season all and wishing you a blessed divine mercy sunday. |
Dentists also recommend using interdental sticks or brushes in addition to brushing and flossing. |
