pryme: Yeah, Let's hand over the job of protecting society to unborn babies, and creating and maintaining infrastructure that ensures mankind survival. I wonder why we never thought of that.
And pls note, women are not the sole factor for procreation. I'm surprised you thought of that. No one with a mind to think and reason would think of something so absurd. And note that I also never said women are the sole factor for procreation. Women are solely responsible for nurturing you in their belly for 9 months, and many would tell you their mother nurtured them for much longer still. But I guess that is of no consequence to some. |

Babysho: I agree and it's not even rocket science or anything. Even some of the political elites know this but if they implement these things, all of them will have to forgo their white man things. Because if they fix up the Nigerian refinery, how will they help white corporations remain oil billionaires so they(our elites) continue their work on being house slaves and receiving their dog's food share of that shady, degrading, short-sighted business deal?
The solution is for the citizens to organise themselves and create their own political party. Kuti family already committed class suicide and joined the side of the people, and Seun Kuti continued the political party of his father The Movement Of The People. Please endeavour to join and let friends know. Glad MOP recognises the importance of education. We may grow all the crops we want, but without modern knowhow (gained through education), we can not compete with those with knowhow. Just consider our maize yield per hectare. Nigeria is 1.5-2 tons per hectare, while some countries achieve over 5 tons per hectare. Dangote Refinery is dead before it starts if it can't refine crude cheaper than imported, unless government taxes imports so they are less competitive. The fact that he imports cheaper crude from Texas should worry us in fact, as it's the same as importing maize which kills local production.

pryme: Men lead, woman follow. If you have a problem with this order of things, then state a situation where women will perform better when our survival is at stake. Your survival was at stake as soon as you were conceived in your mother's belly. And her actions determined your survival then and for a considerable while after you were born. |

Babysho: There are actually a thousand ways that we can add value to the naira and I just gave one. I said if the government would REALLY invest in agriculture to the point that we feed ourselves and export. Yes we might accumulate debt at first but just like a business eventually you start making profit.
But our political space is run by the elites who are white underneath the black skin and their focus is on exporting cash crops because Nigeria to them is not even their home, it's just a plantation for profit.
All the ways to add value to the naira begins with the citizens taking back their country politically. Join MOPCENTRE on Instagram so we can liberate ourselves. As you have noted, government to whom Nigeria is just a plantation for (personal) profit, can not add value to the Naira. Adding value to naira, is making every Naira produce more. A cassava grower, for instance, adds value to their Naira by processing it into something else. And until Nigeria starts adding such value (see how long it's taken us to build a value adding private crude oil refinery!), the value of Naira would continue falling. We need to be more productive. That's what adds value to a currency. |
Politics › Re: Maintain Minimum Wage At N30,000.00 But Give Workers 3 Things??? by budaatum: 4:51pm On May 16, 2024 |
Babysho: That will mean the government will probably have to accrue debts inorder to feed it's citizens and it's not a bad thing IF the Nigerian govt were also investing in agricultural sector to ensure that we can feed ourselves and eventually export so we pay back our debts.
When such a thing happens, even N30k will have so much value for the common man. The more debt the government accrues, the less value there is in the Naira. And whom do you think would get taxed to pay that debt if not the ordinary citizens who likely wouldn't have benefitted from the loan? N30k ($19.71, £15.54) has little value, and theres nothing anyone can do to put more value into it. |

modernWays: A lot of mechanised farms will spring up to produce at cheaper rate. Really? Like magic, I suppose. But why haven't a lot of mechanised farms sprung up already? Might it be because the farmers don't make enough money to buy mechanised? Or is it that their farms are too small for mechanised. Produce at more expensive rate, is more likely. At least to pay back the loan for their mechanised and to pay the staff to run it. |

KnowAll: They buy it at market rate from farmers. Farmers are not losing. The government would now subsidise it or even deduct N5000.00 from your pay for you use the cooperatives. Government will not buy at market rate, but will instead set the market rate, which will be much lower than is profitable for the farmer who might not have an alternative market. A smart farmer would of course not sell to the government and export to Timbuktu instead where prices are much better. And government will have to import to feed you which will inflate the cost of food and deflate the value of the Naira. The end point would be that after government deducts administration fee and bribe for purchasing from particular farmers (who would not be your small farmers but large industrial farmers), the food you get for N5000.00 would be worth less than N2000.00. |

KnowAll: There is what is called deflation. When prices starts tumbling downwards. Look if we look inwards produce what we eat, build our little houses with our own products and have free transport. Naira would not only gain value the 30,000 Naira of today may actually fall to the equivalent of $1,000.00 Look around you and tell me how many of the things you see can be produced by you. And note the phone you eat (use) and the taps in your sink. Nothing is free. Government will have to pay someone to provide free to you, and in order to get the money, government will tax you. |
Politics › Re: Maintain Minimum Wage At N30,000.00 But Give Workers 3 Things??? by budaatum: 2:17am On May 16, 2024 |
KnowAll: 3. Build large cooperative stores that would sell groceries at rock bottom price. That means government would buy fruit and vegetables from farmers and subsidies them. Including meat rice& fish. In order to subsidise to feed you, government will buy cheap from farmers, who will then find it unprofitable to plant food so food gets imported at inflated prices. Trust me. You are worth far more than 30k a month or you at least ought to be. |

You claim you're fighting for equality right?
So using Nigeria my country as a case study, mention 1 constitutional right that men have that women don't in the 21st century ... Nigeria is not the entire world, still, here in 21st century Nigeria, female children are being deprived of school and education so their brother's education can be afforded. And we still have many states where females would not be considered for governor. Even just a poll on Nairaland would show you how few would accept a female boss if they had a choice. |

mikkyphp: C'm on man. Lando pitted under the safety car, thus had fresher tires than Max who had I think 6-7 laps old tires. The lap before the safety car came out, Leclerc & Piastri pitted, and that was what put Lando in the lead. If that didn't happen,..... Lando Norris was "devastated" to miss out on a maiden Formula 1 win as he and McLaren were left to rue the "wrong decision" to stay out on dry tyres as the Russian GP ended in heavy rain.
But the 21-year-old Briton insisted it had been his call to try and see out the lead he had held for much of the race as those behind pitted for intermediate tyres.
It proved to be a catastrophic error of judgement as the rain intensified, resulting in Norris sliding off track on lap 51 of 53 and Lewis Hamilton - who had remerged 25 seconds behind McLaren after pitting for intermediates - taking his 100th Grand Prix win.

Gerrard59: https://www.ft.com/content/496f3bfa-9f0c-4145-9024-188572a280fd I feel their problem was greater than Tesla hugging trucks. Imported vehicles are piling up at European ports, turning them into “car parks” as automakers and distributors struggle with a slowdown in sales and logistical bottlenecks including the lack of truck drivers.
Port and car industry executives have pointed to a pile-up of Chinese electric cars as one of the leading causes of the problem, with some companies booking shipping delivery slots without ordering onward transportation. In other instances, carmakers in general are struggling to order trucks because of the lack of drivers and equipment to move the vehicles on.
“Car distributors are increasingly using the port’s car parks as a depot. Instead of stocking the cars at the dealers, they are collected at the car terminal,” said the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, whose port at Zeebrugge is Europe’s busiest port for car imports. “All major car ports” were struggling with congestion, the port added, without specifying the origin of the vehicles.
Some car industry executives said Chinese carmakers were not selling their vehicles in Europe as fast as they expected, which was a big contributor to the glut at the region’s ports.
“Chinese EV makers are using ports like car parks,” said one car supply chain manager.
Some Chinese brand EVs had been sitting in European ports for up to 18 months, while some ports had asked importers to provide proof of onward transport, according to industry executives. One car logistics expert said many of the unloaded vehicles were simply staying in the ports until they were sold to distributors or end users.
“It’s chaos,” said another person who had been briefed on the situation.
Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, said that “inland shipping in European markets is difficult [for Chinese EV brands]”.
Emphasising that brands needed to improve their “after sale” services, he added: “[We need to] change the guerrilla warlike car exports, which will throw ourselves into an unfavourable situation.”
BLG Logistics, the company that operates the car-handling terminal at the German port of Bremerhaven, Europe’s second-busiest port for vehicles, said it had experienced longer dwell times at its facilities after Germany’s federal government stopped subsidising purchases of EVs in December last year.
The clogging-up of car terminals comes as many of China’s carmakers, such as BYD, Great Wall, Chery and SAIC, are planning an export push to Europe, both to keep their factories in China running and to capitalise on the region’s appetite for electric cars.
https://www.ft.com/content/496f3bfa-9f0c-4145-9024-188572a280fd But is China Made in Tesla I wonder. Almost a fifth (19.5%) of electric vehicles sold in Europe last year were made in China and this is on track to reach a quarter (25%) in 2024, according to new analysis by Transport & Environment (T&E). The forecast comes as the EU is considering import tariffs to counter subsidies for China’s EV industry. T&E said ramping up production of mass-market electric cars and investing in the European battery supply chain is the only way for EU carmakers to compete with Chinese brands, but tariffs would also help localise EV manufacturing.
While Chinese imports into Europe have largely been Tesla, Dacia and BMW cars produced there, T&E projects that Chinese brands could reach 11% of the European EV market in 2024 and 20% in 2027. The conservative projection assumes a linear growth in Chinese OEM market share based on the last two years, though BYD alone is targeting 5% of the European electric car market by 2025.
