benalvino3:First, buda is a contradiction, period. It may seem like a bad thing to you, but that is what buda is. A contradiction. So, perhaps learn not to throw it around like you are insulting me. You are not. Second, benalvino3, buda was not colonised. I am a product of the land where I was born and educated, and can not embrace your own specific backward way of thinking and reasoning, though I'm also claiming that your own specific way of reasoning and thinking is not Nigerian par se, since we both know lots of USA magas unreason and unthink like you do. As for complaining about "colonize your ancestors", any one with an ounce of a brain knows that colonisation, which was inevitable, had its positives and it's negatives, so it would pretty much depend on context, which I'm aware is far too contradictory and complicated for you to wrap your tiny brain around. But I'll give you examples to consider, though I know I'm wasting my time. You speak English because your ancestors were colonised, and that is a positive because you can't program a computer or discuss on Nairaland in your uncolonised language. You don't know your gods because your ancestors didn't write books about them for you to read, and the colonisers forced their's on you instead, and that is a negative, in my opinion because it limits your knowledge of your heritage. Now, you indeed might want to not "embrace the colonizers way of life to your own people", so perhaps turn the lights off where you live and throw your phone away while you are at it, because last time I checked, it was not made in your uncolonised village and nor is what you just read written in your uncolonised language! |
IjeBos:I don't drive everywhere in UK and I don't drive everywhere in Nigeria, but I definitely do not abandon all the driving skills I have and start driving like many do in Nigeria! I plan my driving to avoid traffic, or get a bus so I can get off and walk if the bus is stuck in traffic, which I can not do if my car is stuck in say, Lagos traffic. But thankfully, Lagos is not the only Nigeria, and nor must I stay there. There is no traffic in the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun, so I can very freely move if I drive there. One does not have to behave or reason like benalvino3 just because one got on a plane and landed in Nigeria! |
Jakarta:Jakarta, disco does not care about my complaint as it is! I can complain until the cows come home and they still wouldn't care about my complaint. So why are you now asking me "why should they care about your complains" when I know they don't care about my complaint already? It is my own opinion that they are in the business of protecting their capital and making profits, and I do believe they are achieving that goal, because if they were not achieving that goal, they might indeed care about my complaint. But they obviously do not care about my complaint, so I too don't care about their complaint. Do know that a business' duty to a customer may be very different to the duty a customer expects from a company. I may think a company has a duty to deliver a service to me, but the company itself might see its duty as stealing from me. |
benalvino3:I don't understand why you lie so much. Where did I tell you I am colonized, or that it is evil if you were colonized? |
Jakarta:Sorry, but I don't care if disco complain for whatever reason they want to complain. If they want me to care about their complaining, they should first care about my own complaining by performing their so called duty. But as it is, and as far as I am concerned, they can cry blood if they want, I did not send them and I'm not even looking their side. Please know that "performing their duty" to me is providing me with uninterrupted electricity 24-7-30, and not this band crap! I need light always, and I am willing to pay if they deliver. |
Oh! And by the way, Obi is not contesting to be anyone's role model. Last time I checked, he was contesting to be president, and I have parents at home role modelling me already and don't need Obi for that. |
PresidentMUGABE:Okay, and on a second look, no one is really looking for any politician to be anyone's role model. We only elect them to rule in the position they are elected for. And I don't see the problem in them entering plane and rubbing woman's leg. Maybe the woman broke it or something. If they steal our money, EFCC is doing a semi-competent job and is improving everyday. |
IjeBos:I don't have this issue, by the way. I carry my British way of thinking and doing things wherever I go, and refuse to stoop to whatever the Nigerian level may be. But that's me. Milage definitely differs. |
Jakarta:And I agree with you. Or are disco not managing what they see? |
IjeBos:And I am not willing to have it again, thank you very much. |
Jakarta:You seem to be having some serious difficulty understanding that I agree with you that if disco cheat you by asking you to buy meter, you will steal from them by illegally connecting wire to steal their electricity. So I am going to now ignore you until you show you understand. Good day Jakarta. |
ijebosb:Actually, it's because he is îgnorant and too lazy to research and learn. |
IjeBos:Good thing is, it's very easy to just scroll past him without reading his spam. Just the thought of one like him getting any of my time is enough to make me punish myself by bashing my head against a wall. Even this response to you about him deserves a punishment, but it's worth it to appreciate you debunking his spam. |
Sorry, but I would rather “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord", than just believe! If I just believe I will be an ignorant slave who has not learnt to know how to reason, and that's like being given fish instead of learning how to fish. Mosco100: |
budaatum:Scholes007, do know that you have not yet explained how China has destroyed many industries all over the world. All you did was say Nigeria banned cement and banned rice and banned Tomato paste etc, without saying how China has destroyed many industries all over the world or even in Nigeria. I'm reminding you because your response is important. |
Scholes007:Actually, USA has solely been at the helm of the world leadership for the past 8 decades. Scholes007:Actually, European nations made the current world order from way back in the 1492 before there was a USA, and it lasted till 1914 when they began to fall. Scholes007:But it will likely start with China toppling the head of the current world order which is USA. |
Scholes007:Why are you banning cement and you are banning rice and you are banning Tomato paste etc, and not banning phones and computers and cars and everything Dangote used to build Dangote Refinery including even the crude oil we have in abundance, etc? Is it only cement and rice and tomato paste we want to manufacture in Nigeria and therefore need to ban import of? Scholes007, the fact that you even mention the word "sentiment" shows you are being sentimental. And I don't care about yours or my own sentiment at all! Please know. |
Jakarta:And how is disco going to find "₦600m in tax to the state" when we are all doing OYO that is the consequence of their ineptitude of not providing prepaid meters? Is it not by "looking for customers to extort with your dubious estimated bills"? And if they are "looking for customers to extort with your dubious estimated bills" why will we not OYO? Actually, I think it's my fault that you don't get it, so let me write it in bold for you to read. In as much as you don't provide these meters then OYO! |
Scholes007:Europe lost its power in 1945 when USA became the superpower. Most of Europe didn't finish paying off debt USA till 1990s for saving them from WW2. So why is there this fear that the USA world order that began in 1945 may be coming to an end? Na only USA waka come? Maybe China will be the new world order, then their turn too will finish, and Nigeria will be the new world order. Na turn by turn. |
Scholes007:You are correct, though a crude stereotypical understanding of communism would be more accurate. So I want you to show me I'm wrong. |
Scholes007:I do "intend to put a blind eye it or play ostrich"! Explain to me how China has destroyed many industries all over the world please. Scholes007:So, you think you will ban Tecno and tokunboh and I will suddenly buy Made in Nigeria because you protect your industry from Chinese trade dumping? I think if Nigeria wants to produce, it must first learn how to produce, which is what China did, because most of us Nigerians will not buy made in Nigeria if it is low quality. And if you are honest, you'd admit the west dumps more rubbish on us than China does, since just about everything we import from the west is secondhand no more used in the west stuff. Or is China now dumping old Technos in Nigeria? |
Scholes007:Definition of Communism: Communism is a far-left political and economic ideology aiming for a classless, moneyless, and stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production. Is China classless? Is China moneyless? Is China stateless? Is China not rule based? Is Jack Ma's immense wealth commonly owned by poor peasants? Please provide your own definition and examples of China's communism. |
Scholes007:I have specifically selected this because..... ![]() Are you saying USA is not already part of the current world order that accepts the US dollar as global currency, and they now want to be part of it? Or do are you seeing dump's USA drowning out of the new world order that is excluding it, and are now fighting for survival in the new world order that seems to be reducing USA's influence? |
Scholes007:Scholes007, I am Nigerian, and I don't really care if the entire world is destroyed if Nigeria develops like China has developed, because no Gods wrote sufferhead on my Nigerian head! Imagine, minimum wage is £36.82 (₦70k) a month! Am I a slave? But seriously, China is not destroying others. China needs those others to not be destroyed so they can buy what China manufactures or China will destroy China. And yes, other countries have to protect their country from questionable trade practices. I do however have no sympathy for countries that did not question their own trade practices when they were practicing them on others but are now questioning when their trade practices are practiced on them. No sympathy at all for such hypocrisy! |
nairalanda1:You may "hate making this argument" but it is a very true and valid argument to make. How the füq is a person meant to survive on £36.82 a month anywhere in this global world? |
lawani:The reason companies don't invest is, we are too poor for them to charge to recoup their investment. And the little they might invest, we chase them away with cutlass when they come to collect it. Read Electric Tomatoes. You might see my point. https://www.nairaland.com/5213303/nigeria-africas-money-losing-machine-forbes/2#78844851 |
lawani:Be fair lawani. Wages in Nigeria is a fraction of what is paid in western world too. Nigeria's minimum wage is ₦70000 a month, which is £36.82 a month. Minimum wage in London is £14.80 an hour. You do the maths. |
Jakarta:Lawlessness stops them. You know what would happen if nepa go cut light for barracks or ministry. Below is an example. Kaduna Electric disconnects Governor Sani’s office over N2.9bn Electricity Debt https://metrodailyng.com/kaduna-electric-disconnects-governor-sanis-office-over-n2-9bn-electricity-debt/ Then Kaduna State Shut Down Electric Company For Disconnecting Govt Houses Over N2.9bn Debt https://thewhistler.ng/kaduna-state-shut-down-electric-company-for-disconnecting-govt-houses-over-n2-9bn-debt/ Jakarta:Do you seriously think I could possibly write all that without reading it like 10 times? If you read my comments you'd stop saying "I", and instead say "we". Disco is not playing their part, so we don't play ours. We are not mumu who play our part with discos who don't play their part. |
pu7pl3:I'm not here often. iamoyindamola:Harsh, but noted. |
WriterNig:This is not a series na! Abi I miss something? |
Just watched Landman. It's oil business in Texas with a tiny bit of eyecandy. Slow, but I'm giving it 7¾, and hate I need to wait for season 3. What next please?
