Maynman:I take it you read Ge’ez and Amharic, because some of the text in that book have not yet been translated into English. https://ethiopianorthodoxbible./2014/12/05/introduction/ |
Maynman:Share please. |
Maynman:You must dig some. Here for the Christianity section. https://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/index.htm And here's from Rutherford alone. https://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/fbe/index.htm As for what I practice, by my fruits you should be able to tell, though I'm tempted to ask what you mean by "practice". |
Maynman:Here's one list with some books I read on the subject of religion, of which Christianity is only a subsection. It might help you understand my extent. It includes books not even considered for the Bible And no, I have not read them all, but I been at it for about 20 years or so, just so you know. As I keep repeating, not only bread, but every word the gods may have written. |
Maynman:Which both mean saviour, and which Zoroastrians will call saoshyant. |
Maynman:The subject was other books that did not make it into the Bible, May. Or do I sound to you like a person who only reads one book? |
Maynman:I think you are the one who's obsessed with a word. And I'm asking you to expand your thinking beyond Christianity. I can after all be a messiah to a person I give 1k to, and that wouldn't make me Christ. |
Maynman:What subject, May? |
Maynman:I wonder which of us introduced "messiah" here. I bet it wasn't me. I use "messiah" because it's what is understood by most here. I could use Buddhist words instead, but they'd fly over most people's heads, especially when I claim no messiah will save anyone who does not save their self. https://www.nairaland.com/5235687/should-spirit-filled-believer-succumb/1#102725494 |
Maynman:Yes I do know. Rutherford H. Platt's The Forgotten Books of Eden is a very good book on the subject.
|
Maynman:Because I do not eat only bread, and because I understand the messianic concept and idea. Messiah means saviour. It is not the name of a any person just as much as doctor or welder is not one person's name. |
Maynman:I'm certain you already read me refer to other books, May. Please, not only "other books that were left out in the version", but other books that are completely unrelated to that single book, like those by or about Buddha, Osiris, Aristotle, Plato, Heraclitus, Fela, Paul, Mohammed, Lao Tzu, Osiris, etc etc etc. I would not ask you not to live by bread alone so as not to be ignorant and stupid, and then myself only eat bread! |
Maynman:I think the entire collection of books is awesome. I'm wading through it once more. |
Maynman:So, if I say I will saoshyan you, you will understand I'm saving you right? And if I say I'm your messiah you'd not say I was Christ? |
Maynman:I called an understanding that insists on believing, a dumbed down version. I myself consider the Bible one of the most undumb books out there. Pity dumb belief is what most get from it. |
Maynman:Well, according to you, Saoshyant is a messiah too.
|
Maynman:Messiah is not a name, except for Christians who think no one else but them can be saved by a person they call Messiah. One does not call ideas and concepts by "their names", May. They are ideas and concepts, and not people. |
Maynman:Really, May? So, if I am your saviour, I must be Christ, right? I can't just be a person who saved you from say, hunger, or being hit by a bus? |
Maynman:They both mean saviour, May. |
Maynman:Do they have to speak Hebrew to have a messiah, May? Can Zoroastrians not call their saviour Saoshyant, which what you posted is their messiah? Perhaps focus on the concept instead of the person Christianity embodies their messiah in. It might help you understand it better.
|
Maynman:Did Zoroastrians get their messiah from the Hebrews, May, or is it your claim they never had a messiah? |
Maynman:So, they have to call messiahs messiah before you see they are messianic? Sorry, but my brain does not work like yours seems to. |
Maynman:I do not expect any different from you. You know of messianism from the Bible alone and can not consider it not being unique to the Bible. |
Maynman:Please stop with the strawmanning! I've never said the Jesus story had any other "start"! The Bible, as we know it today, is the only place you'd find the Jesus story, May. Well, that, and in other related texts that never got into the Bible. The ideas in the story are not only Hebrew, however, as you'd find if you research some. The Hebrews, if by that you mean the Israelites, never even accepted the Jesus story, but called it a Greek story.
|
Maynman:Wherever the word messiah may have been gotten from, you are aware the idea of saviour itself is not Hebrew, shown by evidence that others had saviours long before Christ in the link you yourself posted. Or would you like to claim Jesus is the only saviour?
|
Maynman: budaatum: |
Maynman:Must they be from the lineage of david and Abraham? ![]() |
Maynman:Messiah is not gotten from Hebrew, and there were lots of messiahs long before Christos. And the writing is not dumb once you realise it is pointing you where to seek, but if you do not go seeking, you'd get the dumb version and you'd ignorantly believe it. |
Maynman:You must have never heard of Asar, Aset, and Heru. https://daily.jstor.org/a-holy-trinity-in-ancient-egypt/#:~:text=In%20ancient%20Egypt%E2%80%94or%20Kemet,%2C%20and%20Horus%2C%20respectively.) |
Maynman:Well, depending on how you take it of course. If for believing, then yes, dumb. For as Christ is written to have said, "the lame walk, blind see, deaf hear, dumb talk". Only to the poor is the Gospel preached. P.s. I know you'd understand those words biblically. It's not how I've meant them. |
Maynman:The story of Jesus has no Hebrew origin, May. It was cobbled together from numerous stories about messiahs that were prevalent at the time and in history. Neither the trinity nor the resurrection are original Hebrew ideas. |
Maynman:How many times must I repeat that the relating was done in the prologue of the Gospel of John, May, are you not following links at all? Here's another. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logos_(Christianity) |
