Maynman:The Jesus story has its origin from a lot of places, Maynman. You'd find it in Egypt, for instance, and in Greece, as pointed out already. Logos does not mean mere "word" in Hebrew, and the New Testament was written in Greek. Maynman:You might as well have asked, Who is Bacchus. Some people's god, I suppose. Maynman:My flesh does not hunger for learning, so my soul and spirit must have appetites too, for all the gods may have written. That said, one aspect of the trinity I may be can not survive alone. |
Maynman:With a lot of Egyptian and Greek and Babylonian and surrounding philosophy in it too. And please! The books I am reading. Maynman:Mostly, I read in English. Maynman:I don't think Heraclitus and Aristotle referred to Logos as God. Maynman:As I repeatedly mention, those who read only one book will be malnourished. Logos is not in the Old Testament but in the New, which was written after Yahweh met Greek philosophy. Maynman:I must be flesh then, because I am very hungry and need food now. In fact, I'm going to go shop. I got no food in the house to eat. |
Maynman:No, I never "translated word as logos from Hebrew". In fact, my journey began with Greek and Egyptian philosophy, as pointed out. Hebrew came much later. Maynman:Why just "God in Hebrew"? Why not Gods from elsewhere too? There are lots of gods, so why concentrate on one? Maynman:According to whom? Or, what? Did you not see me use the word "malnourished"? Did 'that “God”' send Logos to the Egyptians from where Jesus is written to have gone to get it from? Did 'that "God"' send the Logos to Heraclitus and Aristotle too? Maynman:That is your understanding. My own understanding is that those who don't use the brain in their head and their other senses will remain stupid and ignorant and malnourished. I guess my soul does not do my living for me since I like rowing my own boat. |
sonmvayina:Why are you accusing me of what you are doing, son? Am I writing beyond your level of comprehension perhaps? budaatum:The stories are not only allegories, son, they are also mythology. Please post the meaning of mythology so I know what you understand. |
Maynman:Now that's cleared up. One makes Jesus the Logos by considering the words that one reads. I'll give an example. Take "humans shall not live by bread alone but by every word the Gods wrote". The fill in the blank version is, humans who live by one book will become malnourished. |
Maynman:Did you not see me mention other Logos peddlers apart from Jesus? Are you aware John 1:1 was not an original thought but was copied from somewhere else? Kindly do not assume words mean to me what you think they do. https://www.nairaland.com/6434802/what-real-name-islamic-god/7#103872464

Maynman:This will require multiple answers as it is multiple questions. 1. buda is not a believer. I choose to understand. 2. I am still an atheist (and a Bible reader, and a Quran reader, to name a few). Gods are the figment of the imaginations of those in whom gods have been created. My Lord and Happy prove that fact. They believed what they did not understand. One shouldn't read Things Fall Apart, for instance, and start believing an Okonkwo killed an actual Ikemefuna, so why read a book and start believing in gods? 3. I never had anything against Jesus (the Logos). That would imply a refusal or an inability to read and reason - as in, ask and seek and knock - with one's own senses. I'd call my self a word worshipper. Worship, as in, read and endeavour to understand. My first God book was Homer's Odyseus, followed by Egyptian gods. One didn't believe in those gods so it would be absurd to believe in gods one reads elsewhere instead of try to understand what one reads. NB. I feel I haven't answered you, and just remedied your assumptions. Apologies. |
HardMirror:You all should read Konkoja's My Journey - Sexuality. It might make you pay more attention to your own kids. |
LordReed:And how so brutally 'we' crush one another. It's like living in Plato's Cave full of Borg's. "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile" budaatum:It's why compassionate Jesus is a very good study. He stepped out of the cave and returned to free those in it and they just crucified the poor sod and only later did they realise he was the messiah saving them. Unfortunately, many remain in the cave. Now, Buddha, on the other hand, never delved back into the cave to save anyone and no one therefore crucified him. 'If you wish to be saved', Buddha would say, 'step out of your cave and use your own senses and save yourself'. Buddha would also have said, 'Jesus is the Way, but the Way is not the destination'. |
HappyPagan: LordReed:I feel for you guys. The thought of 'believing' a book without questioning is absurd, and probably why I never quite did so well in Nigerian schools with teachers you dare not question, especially since in my kindergarten was I appointed six honest servers. I keep six honest serving-menWe need a coup in our education system! |
Here's one of my favourites. Thoth, (Greek), Egyptian Djhuty, in Egyptian religion, a god of the moon, of reckoning, of learning, and of writing. He was held to be the inventor of writing, the creator of languages, the scribe, interpreter, and adviser of the gods, and the representative of the sun god, Re. His responsibility for writing was shared with the goddess Seshat. The cult of Thoth was centred in the town of Khmunu (Hermopolis; modern Al-Ashmūnayn) in Upper Egypt. Thoth was the vitally important Egyptian god of the moon, medicine, science, wisdom, and magic. Depicted with the head of an ibis, he invented writing, was the divine healer, and acted as advisor to the rest of the pantheon.Smart people wonder how he protected Isis during her pregnancy and healed the eye of her son, Horus, and then they go on and do greater things than he did, while some will bow down and worship. |
sonmvayina:I do not think it proper to paint a picture of my grandfather's consciousness leaving him, sonm. If you have not seen consciousness leave a person, perhaps its you who have not seen a person die. |
LordReed:My Lord, buda always loved Jesus. One can't love Buddha and Mohammed and Lao Tzu and Atum and Darwin and Aristotle and Fela and Thoth, to name but a few, and leave Jesus out. They are not one same linage, but they are the evolution of the idea of things we call gods, and the fact we call them gods means some people at a particular point in time considered them important enough to 'worship', and I love knowing why. It might be they found wealth in a field and hid it, and I love wealth. Love the fact you didn't say buda is now a Christian though. I'd have had to go do something unchristainy so my reputation isn't tarnished. I can't wait till we evolve from Jesus the Messiah, to Jesus the Logos. They shall Jesus truly live. |
sonmvayina:I'll put this down to your inability to understand the use of the word. In truth, gods only live in the minds of people, and once the minds stop accomodating the gods and worshipping them stops they die off. sonmvayina:God too never existed, sonm. Yet here are we discussing and learning regardless. There is a reason "a thriving Cult, in Egypt and around the Roman empire" survives till this day. |
sonmvayina:The image of the thing that left was consciousness which I have described already. Same consciousness I see in you and will notice once it leaves you. And before you claim image, remember you don't see consciousness in a stone. Or at least you have yet claimed you can. |
bestmutiu2019:Op, update please. Did you scar those twins? |
|
sonmvayina:Depends what you mean by "consciousness leave". My maternal grandfather became much less conscious over the last couple of years of his living. A man who once knew all his grandchildren by name reverted to calling everyone ọmọ, and by the last few months of his life he was not conscious of his mouth and his ass. Yes, I've been "opportuned to witness the last moment of anybody", and seen "consciousness leave". Ma was a nurse, so I spent lots of time in hospitals. |
sonmvayina:That is how and why they are said to have died, sonm. Once you "loose the ritual on how to please", it just dies off like most dead gods fickle humans forget to worship. Gods live because we humans give life to them. Kind of shows who the gods are. Those who create them kill them once their use by date passes. A reason for Easter, actually. A ritual to remind of the resurrection of the god, which you'd find in most religions, hence, Easter's "Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Aleluya amen". What is Christ, Sonm? |
basilico:I do find it amusing that parents are finally being forced to monitor their childrens' school. If parents attended their teacher parent meetings, they've have had a hand in the curriculum ages ago. Governor Michael Lynn Parson should have done something about this long ago. Pity he must be a woked Democrat, along with the State legislative. Below is further info on what you posted. https://asrainvestigates.substack.com/p/apologies-for-maya-angelou-math-worksheet?s=r

sonmvayina:Now, how I wish I can say you create like a "part of God", but I guess if you model yourself after Yahweh, the God who has not yet managed to tame his demon, one should not be surprised at you destroying with rudeness. Do you think Gods evolve, son, as in, grow over time before they eventually die off? |
sonmvayina:I don't understand why the rudeness. You were made conscious of it a while ago but still seem unconscious of it. Am I not doing something about my ignorance by asking you questions? I may not have seen the "shape or image of consciousness", but I have seen consciousness itself. I mean, you are not an unconscious rock after all, but a conscious being with a shape that I clearly see. |
sonmvayina:That's an interesting take. A talking earth and an imaginary god, yet hard to argue that the earth (plus the sun, I dare add) didn't have a hand in human creation, especially since we agree the text is not for believing. Are you aware that the text also says one must not create images of God, which is what you'be done in claiming "God is consciousness"? Might that not be because the word God represents an indeterminable thing (or idea)? |
sonmvayina:Explain, son. What is "the totality of the consciousness of the universe"? I'm asking because you've kept repeating it and it would be bad of me to assume to know what you mean when I don't, though I certain I've asked you this before. |
IMAliyu:Keyword, "intelligence" - the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills, which you superboost with "sentient", as in, being able to perceive or feel things, with implied sense use. You added "ability" in case it is not already recognised, with "research", implying 'sense use' again, along with the depth of "generations" one needs to go seeking with them. Basically, use all your senses to ask and knock and seek. IMAliyu:Can you therefore see why it amuses that you say "look" to those who cover their eyes so they may not see because they have already seen. Now, if only such people could learn from their Messiah. IMAliyu:The evidence is on display! https://www.nairaland.com/6547175/see-how-young-deception-began#101557777

Bsquare1111:I assume you mean, everyone everywhere ruled by one person, or organisation, or country, or perhaps, continent? My own tiny Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun first needs to come under such a rule everyone submits to, yet, we refuse to submit to our obas such that we kill them every 10 or so years. Perhaps our oba is a bad manipulator, I suppose, but we don't submit to our governors neither, we being where the last elections had to be rerun. More important, have you not heard Russia is bombing Ukraine? Freemasons must have woefully failed "one world order" manipulation on that one. Seriously. Do you see free minded ubber rebellious Nigerians submitting to "one world order", Bsquare1111, we Nigerians with our inability to submit to one world order on our roads and even in our homes, not to talk of in our communities? Don't you think "one world order" would first manipulate us to not litter our streets, which we carelessly do, and or respect one another, and most definitely, our so called leaders? The world is a very big place with lots of diverse living beings, is what I think, and before ordering the world, 2 or 3 must first order themselves, but if they don't order themselves, I'm glad someone is ordering them, because unordered people never build anything and they often just destroy. Least I forget, I am manipulating. You must resist!

DissTroy:Did drumpghtp not know he was meeting with Biden and Democrat's friends when he was signing dodgy deals with them? He could have included twitter in the deal if he did not like their investment in twitter. Damn, he could have even quid quo prod the $8.1 billion arms deal he signed with them, but I guess its more evidence how lousy he must be. In May, the Trump administration issued an emergency declaration to push through an $8.1 billion arms deal to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan without congressional approval. Proponents of the deal contend that a fresh supply of weapons is necessary to counter mounting Iranian aggression that threatens to destabilize the region and put U.S. security interests at risk. However, the declaration provoked anger from both Democratic and Republican lawmakers, who have criticized civilian deaths caused by Saudi-led air strikes in Yemen. |
DissTroy:Saudi Arabia must have played that dump, or Kashoggi might have been a problem.

sonmvayina:Blood sacrifices, son? What for? And is that not the reason Gods die? |
budaatum:Ben, I forgot to mention the demonstrations in Africa. Expect more all over the world. ‘Down With France’: Former Colonies in Africa Demand a ResetDamn that giving html! |
TheSourcerer:I know you did. Somehow, my Bible quoting does not blind you to what I might mean as it does some which is why you are so much appreciated. Some day, we shall discuss it in a thread so others may see. |
emmy4real94:The person who opened the thread (now?) understands how my personal opinion is reflected in the religious books I quote, and they are neither common nor "religious thoughts". budaatum:Assuming you meant me, that is. |
