HellVictorinho4:Your question, as in, what you may want to know, might be "who", hell, but my question is what. You don't define my question for me, and neither are you under any obligation to answer it if you don't want to or can't. Not that I asked you, mind. |
He wrote a book. Anyone read it?

Now, if only this law could apply to Nigerians in Nigeria and about any country. https://www.nairaland.com/7057980/adeyinka-grandson-jailed-4.5-years

rottennaija:Everyone is quick to believe this without wondering how USA would pay Russia for fertilisers and how buyers would collect it or what sanctions would mean to other countries that sell what they want. If USA can buy Russia fertiliser, Germany can buy Russia gas and I can finally buy that blue eyed blond hair Russian dude I saw advertised on Russiadudes, and then, sanction who, exactly? |

AlphaTaikun:I never said we Yorubas "practiced this kind of intra-ethnic caste system stigmatisation". But when I, the Child of the Oba of Orun, walked by, the children of this earth are stigmatised because they all know their place is on earth. We have a different sort of system to classify ourselves, is my point, though one can rise and fall within it. Slaves, after all could become king in Yoruba land. Oh, and my Yoruba great great paternal grandmother was a slave from a neighbouring Yoruba town. |
Here's Iliad. Set just before Odyseus. http://classics.mit.edu/Homer/iliad.html |
sonmvayina:There's a movie? Of course there would be! Must watch it someday. http://classics.mit.edu/Homer/odyssey.html |
HellVictorinho4:I'm far too smart to place myself at your mercy, as you well know. |
LordReed:Forgive me for saying this, my Lord, but hope is another one of those magical jujuical wishing and a prayer manna from heaven that we've always done and that keeps giving us the result we have that we are here describing as hell. No nation built itself on hope, my Lord. They said, "Let there be", then they got off their asses and made it be and it was. We too will learn how, someday. When is what bothers me, and how bad we let ourselves get before we decide to learn. |
KnownUnknown:It does not represent anything to me unknown, but it is an attempt of the writers to control women. What does it represent to you please? |
KnownUnknown:Care to recommend any please? |
KnownUnknown:I so miss muttley. He at least tried. https://www.nairaland.com/2045070/thoughts-questions-religion/78#72868845 |
LordReed:No, my Lord, this is not yet hell. Every single indicator is yelling it is going to get a whole lot worse, than hell, before we realise this ain't working and decide to change our ignorant believing ways. Every nation that was at our current developmental stage faced it's shock before it changed and so might we. Drastically, unfortunately. And painfully. |
KnownUnknown:"Represent" is a weired word, known. Please let me first tell you what it is, see if we agree, before it is re-presented by either of us. Genesis 3:15, is a section in a book written by some people that reads as follows: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” |
basilico:People who grew up in the 60s are telling you media was not honest in the 60s, but you just go on deluding yourself, bas. |
KnownUnknown:KnownUnknown, don't you think you should have considered your time before wasting it in this waste of your time thread? Do you seriously think one who "found the ideas the mystical is built upon" wouldn't be much wiser than you are being and at least not guffaw at a book they never read and only saw the cover of? |
A001:That, is the single thing destroying Nigeria. Those who believe think they know so do not bother to ask and knock and seek with their own senses. Instead, they believe what they are told, and the bad believing shows that we haven't yet understood the "religion" not to talk of try it out. I mean, how can anyone believe they would die if they ate the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil when Adam and Eve surely did not die when they ate, but their eye's opened, they gained wisdom, they freed themselves from slavery in Eden and became self employed and lived for 930 years and then died? Yet, some do believe such things and say "skool na scam"! One day we'd understand even the psychology of that which we read and the psychology of we the reader, then shall our eyes open to understand that beliefs must be examined and tested so we may know. And to be honest, it's why I rejoice. For at least 2% of the 2% are here, asking, knocking, seeking, critically analysing just about every post so we may learn and grow. The Gods, they say, are wise and all knowing.

LordReed:CanadaOrBust is saying, without the fear of hell we Nigerians would be more hungry and kill more fellows for bread which would have been a lot more unsafe. My Lord, are we not safer for having read books than we would have been if we hadn't? |
KnownUnknown:Lol, known. Your's was just your opinion too, or wasn't it? Am I wrong in doing to you as you did to me? Any way, let's get back to what we can objectively critique, shall we? KnownUnknown:In Buddhism, it is said that the person at the bottom of the mountain can not see what the person at the top sees, I think we must be done here, for I see no point in giving countenance or time to those who think reading "the picture at the beginning of the book" is enough for them to claim they know what is obviously unknown to them. I do not expect you to comprehend the significance of the below and have not included it for your benefit, so just do not read it if you wouldn't please. As for my current reading, here, with no mirages on the cover to mystify you.
|
KnownUnknown:Known, you have not shown an understanding of any of my posts, so whatever you claim to be able to tell is false. Its why I engage with you too. So that you may know for yourself that which is currently unknown to you. |
basilico:This pretty much sums up my issue with you. Your lack of knowing, is what I call it. But then, what should one expect from the television documentary generation like yours with your aversion to books. I mentioned Chomsky some time ago, old before you were born, ranting like a mad man that the media is all lies, but of course you never read him. We read media disinformation in the Bible too, or what do you think the woman who produced life from between her legs would say about the misinformation that describes her as a rib? Is the fact that Adam and Eve were misinformed they would die if they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil not evidence enough that the fact that you "think Obama has destroyed the world" shows you don't really think at all, bas? |
KnownUnknown:How can you tell if you don't share with me 'the absurdity in “ancient Rosicrucian order"' you found? |
KnownUnknown:Have you read any of the books in this thread, Unknown. Can you kindly refer me to one single book out of all those you read about ancient Rosicrucian order that you found funny so I may read and guffaw at it too please? |
HappyPagan:I did not ask an "average Nigerian Christian", happy, I asked you, and any one else willing to tell me their own thoughts instead of what some "average Nigerian Christian" has to say as if you've been appointed spokesperson for the "average Nigerian Christian" (says very irritated and annoyed buda at the fact that some can't speak for themselves!). budaatum: |
HappyPagan:What is Christ? |
HappyPagan:A list would be handy please, so 'we are', instead of the magical jujuical wishing and a prayer manna from heaven "should be". "About the story of Christ", surely there's a lot more to it than just that! Like, "why and how not to die for a cause", no? |
GANDALF1:They can't buy or sell without it showing, so is (or will someday be) a scalping opportunity for smart organised investor action. |
KnownUnknown:Some farmers plant maize and reap a crop in three months. Some farmers plant yam and reap in 9, while some wait for three years before harvesting their yam, though not now with thieves and all. Some farmers plant cocoa and wait 5-12 years for a crop, while some plant olives that they know will never produce fruit in their lifetime. If we do not plant seeds now and instead keep relying on the uncritical magical JuJu thinking of "suppose", or are discouraged because of the likely unfortunacy of us never sitting in the shade of the tree we plant, it will only keep getting hotter and there will still not be a tree to provide shade for the future. And that's why you are here, Unknown. You are sowing the seeds of a tree to provide the shade in the future. |
KnownUnknown:Venerate, you say? Well, Known, just listen to us. We speak in that language, and communicate in that language, so don't you think we kind of worship that language too? Or perhaps we got that thing from Stockholm that makes one cling to one's exploiter? I'm not going to argue with you how people got educated before the English you and I were educated in and don't seem likely to ever want to abandon for any other language, but I feel you'd agree that a lot more information for us to learn about and from has flowed to us in that almighty language than any other language, and we'd be a bit dumber otherwise. Compare English learning Nigeria to Arabic learning Nigeria please before you argue otherwise. KnownUnknown:So, your argument is, we were forced from an early age and we can not abandon it because "they have placed the “English” on a pedestal"? So, us nko? Can we too now not abandon whatever we need to abandon, or are we too forcing ourselves to accept it with violence? I must declare myself fortunate here I guess. The first gods I learnt about were straight out of Homer and no one was required to believe it since critical thinking was in the baby milk like fortified vitamins. Just saying. KnownUnknown:To wit, Paul might have written, 'when I was a child, I was taught as a child to think like a child and be dumb as a child, then I grew up and started teaching myself to learn to use my own mind', but of course he never. I am not taught, unknown. I learn. And to critically reason and think, I'd say. And the funniest thing is independent unbrainwashed use your own mind people like me is what your posts promote, as opposed to merely believing what one reads. You believe it's taught as what you see it being taught around you, which I agree is mostly, on the day you eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall surely die. Over in UK where it came from they learn that the fruits of trees of knowledge are desirable for food, good for gaining wisdom and for opening eyes and elongating life. It's why critical thinking is on their primary school curriculum and religion itself is taught in cultural studies. They don't "suppose" there might be light. They learn to put the light on, as they have learnt from the "tale" as we too must one day learn instead of merely ignorantly believing. |
