What is the distance between the earth and Neptune?
4.37 billion km.
Are you sure?
Have you measured it yourself?
Its amusing that you make claims and then make them seem they are mine.

Science does not claim to know it all and that's the beauty of it. It means you keep on seeking and asking and knocking, knowing learning is life long.

One of the main reasons churchmen terrorize the laity with original sin is because this dude called Augustine was obsessed with sex and did not understand astrology.
Don't you think that those being terrorised should go read the book themselves? They might learn from Daniel how not to be terrorised.

In fact, woe to them, is how Christ is written to have described those you call terrorists, so why are you not blaming the laity for their own lack of understanding?

Do you think Ken Saro Wiwa deserves a state pardon?
Do you think that he deserves exoneration?
I think he was a lot smarter than his equivalents today which is why he was feared more and killed, and exonerated or pardoned or not, Nigerians ought to make him a hero for starting what eventually became the holding of oil companies to account.

Unlike some religious text that requires you to believe a snake was talking to a woman, or a donkey was speaking to a prophet.
The religious text does not require you to believe anything.

When a brain using being reads "a snake was talking to a woman, or a donkey was speaking to a prophet", the first thing that ought to spring to their mind is, how, then why. That, is science.

Haynnie:
The truth is not far from us but we choose to live blindly by our preconceptions
Which is why the Scientist Jesus Christ is written to have said, "unless you become as a child", which means, abandon your preconceptions.

Unfortunately, those preconceptions are so engrained, having been fed to most from inside the womb and in their breast milk, that abandoning them is as difficult as threading a camel through a needles eye, but thankfully that does not mean it's impossible.

We Nigerians need to be taught to ask and knock and seek, which is the exact definition of science, instead of ignorantly believing our preconceptions.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Science. by budaatum:

Science does not need you to believe for it to be true or not, so you have to remove that "believers" of science part from your post.

For example, "The earth is not flat", whether you believe it or not, this statement is true.
Thank you for getting that in before me.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Science. by budaatum: 12:44pm On Oct 29, 2021
Originakalokalo:
There has always been a conflict between the believers of science and those who believe in God.
I really hate when people use religious language to describe science!

Science, by its nature, is antibelief, because if you use your senses to ask and knock and seek, which is what science is, you would find it difficult to believe.

As for believing in God, perhaps the religious should try to understand the book they read so they can learn to use their senses, because, in the end, that is what the book teaches despite the numerous verses telling you to ignorantly believe. If not, Jesus would have stopped at "love the Lord your God", and he would have believed and not be crucified. He was after all crucified for not believing what those around him believed because he used his own senses (though I bet you'd likely argue he didn't).

Well, you are projecting false premise on him agaib I said the vaccine has killed people and while I was saying so, I said the numbers are so low and vast majority that takes it do not die from it.

I don't want to take the vaccine because I don't have to take it. But it's seems people are being forced to take it and that's the only reason why I will be taking it.
And who are you exactly? Because I do not recall having this conversation with you specifically. If you are talking for bas, his argument is, more vaccinated died from covid than unvaccinated, which by any sort of reckoning makes the vaccine a poison.

I'll ask you therefore, why you accept being forced to take what you think will kill you? Don't you have a choice in the matter?

Yes, I am not ready for the unending argument that you want to initiate.
Sorry workch, but a discussion is only an argument if one refuses to see other points of view and insist on their own view. And perhaps that's the intention of this thread of your's but not what I can justifiably be accused of except by the ignorant rigid believing types who are stuck believing what they believe whether they be theists or atheists. Both are as ignorant as each other, in my opinion, because they equate the crap they create in their heads and believe as actual knowing, when in truth, the fact they merely believe implies they are ignorant.

P.s. I am not accusing you of believing since you have admitted to being agnostic, as in, you don't yet know, and are, I assumed, seeking. Accept my sincere apologies.

Your opinion is well noted
Though I bet, not understood, I think, hence you being agnostic too, which implies you are still seeking.

It's one thing railing against some imaginary God, but railing against the God book is, well, not exactly intelligent, since its a rather informative book, if only but as well as enabling you to understand the programming of those around you, and the power of writing, and farming, in fact.

I put it to you that you are rightly atheistic towards Christian beliefs, and you are agnostic towards the book because you are blinded by the ignorant beliefs of Christians which blind you to its understanding.

I mean, very early in the book are you presented with two types of people. An imaginary dumb enslaved ignorant naked believing fearful of death trembling Adam, and an imaginary disbelieving use her own senses wisdom seeking Eve. I find that very informative myself, especially considering what is written to have happened to them afterwards. It shows to choose which one would rather be, and as we see, Christians choose to be ignorant Adams while disregarding the choice they are given.

If you can be bothered to read the book bar the ignorant beliefs I think you might appreciate it a little and feel even more sorrow for the dumb believers. If they understood and obeyed the Jesus they ignorantly believe in, they'd all choose to be ask and knock and seek Eves instead of ignorant believing Adams.

I'd ask you to read the Quran for perspective and the folly of eating only bread, but fear you might think I'm asking you to believe that instead of understanding it.

P.s. Sorry I'm insisting. Perhaps my Lordreed might explain it to you better, him being an atheist too.

Good so your kicking against the concept is simply because it has a "spiritual" name given to it. A sacrificed goat prepared as a meal is still food even though it is carrying the religious appellation.
That's why my people invite me to worship Owala. Owala is a huge lake in Osun State that feeds into the Osun River. We kill a white goat and eat, though that does not stop us dying from schistosomiasis if we swim in it at the wrong time of year. I'm invited to the Ogun festival too but can't eat dog because dogs eat shit.

You are always trying to deflect. Those are casualties who died of COVID-19.
They did not die from the vaccine they died of COVID-19.
The data shows more people who died in that time period from the rona were vaccinated.
The authorities do not show who died from the adverse effects of the vaccine.
If more vaccinated people died than unvaccinated, would you not be better off not being vaccinated?

Why are you vaccinated, bas?
