DissTroy:He should have referred to you if he were honest because almost all your posts are threatening and and attempt to intimidate while all of those of the person you call Baba60+ are not even worth reading, and both of you are juvenile. |
khia:I think mobilising an army to go attack other nations is much more global than Nigeria can imagine. |
DissTroy:Was Benalvino2 talking about you when he mentioned "intimidation"? Because you sure do try to intimidate quite a lot. |
PrideofLincoln1:Just so you know, I'm shaking my head more at you. |
Goodvibes007:Personally, and not that my opinion matters, mind, but I think its you and Pride who are the toddlers for engaging him so much. If you were mature it would show in how you don't join pigs in mud! |
BassReeves:Do you recall our conversation about the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and how I said Eve used her senses to ask and knock and seek? It is precisely for this reason that I can appreciate atheism, because of its anti-belief stance which makes one seek. Or can you not see that atheists spend a lot of time and effort seeking God even though they don't know or won't admit that's what they do. Part of that asking and knocking and seeking requires them to seek evidence for God, and for Christ, for which Josephus is required reading. I'm saying, after reading Josephus like 25 years ago, and investigating critique of his writings, and reading various other writings about Christ, I have found it to be inconclusive as to whether Christ is real or not, but as I've said, that is irrelevant to me, after all, its not as if I have evidence for God either, and I certainly have not seen the Holy Spirit. Thankfully, Christ is written to have given me a neat cope out with his "inasmuch as I do for those I see before me". And if I don't do for those before me and just yell Lord Lord, I am but a "resounding gong or a clanging cymbal", and I will incur a huge dentist bill from gnashing my teeth. BassReeves:My way of relating with my God is by relating with you. It is the lesson of my favourite Parable of the Orangutan that Christ said I should go and emulate, and not the Priest and the Levite who sinned precisely because of their belief in God. And thankfully, some of my fruits are recorded here so I can see when I fail and correct my ways. I don't worship God, Bass. I worship you my fellow human beings as proxy, using what is written about God to teach me how. It's why I abhor beliefs and appreciate understanding instead. You'd find on here that believers tend to not love those who differ to them and whom they see as their enemies, and most would definitely not turn the other cheek once not to talk of have hope and love and faith in or for their fellow human beings. If they did, the lamb and the lion would coexist, and the theist would love or at least have compassion for the atheist instead of constantly attacking each other. Christians need to realise what it means to be the salt of the earth and not lose their saltiness, is what I think.

FOLYKAZE:Your source does not say the "brother of Jesus who was called Christ, whose name was James" is the same "Jesus, the son of Damneus High Priest". You yourself said: FOLYKAZE:But I guess since you don't even read your own sources, so one shouldn't really bother asking you! FOLYKAZE: |
FOLYKAZE:Don't you think you should have read it before presenting it as evidence? |
22jumpstreet:If you say so 22. Could you tell me how far once you've measured please. It would be interesting to know. |
BassReeves:Unfortunately Josephus as evidence for Christ has been subject to additions by early Christians which makes his works not accepted as evidence for Christ, as folykaze has pointed out. But as I said, historical evidence for Christ is irrelevant to me as I do like what he is written to teach, as you've presented below. In Spirit is Christ relevant to me, and not physically. BassReeves:I'd go further and state you can testify to my faith in my fellow human being, my hope in them, and my love too, for, inasmuch as I do for you whom I see, a God I see not and have no historical evidence for should be pleased. Not that I do it to please God, mind. BassReeves:I wish it was required because the world would be a better place. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on one's bent, we do have a choice in the matter as we see here. |
22jumpstreet:Love your enemies means embrace or lick ass to you? No wonder you think you'd "quick die". |
22jumpstreet:Love your enemies means embrace or lick ass to you? No wonder you think it means "quick die". |
BassReeves:Tantrums just show one's position is lame, and are an attempt to intimidate. He should however know buda is not so easily intimidated. Funny thing is, in all my own investigations I can't say I've found historical evidence for or against the existence of a Jesus Christ, but that's hardly relevant to me since his purported teachings would stand even if he were ficticious. It is after all beneficial to love one's neighbours and enemies even moreso. If we Nigerians in the South love our neighbours in the North, for instance, instead of seeing them as our enemies, we'd be up there fighting to free them from oppression instead of crying about it after its now come south. |

FOLYKAZE:Here is you re-presenting it, in case you've confused yourself. |
BassReeves:You wouldn't believe I had to go check this before my response above! Glad you noticed too. |
FOLYKAZE:That "garbage" that you admit is discredited is from links you posted in support of your own claims! If you know it's discredited, why repeatedly ask me to go read it when I ask for evidence of your claim? FOLYKAZE:"Come up with authentic and unaltered citation" for what, exactly? |
BassReeves:I can't say he knows what he's saying by presenting as evidence a text he admits is discredited! FOLYKAZE: FOLYKAZE: |
FOLYKAZE:Did you not bother to read your own source? FOLYKAZE:
|
FOLYKAZE:Don't dear me! I am not your dear! You claimed James the Just, the brother of Jesus ben Damneus. Yet, the text you presented as evidence describes James the Just as the brother of Jesus of Nazareth, and you admit that Jesus of Nazareth of 34AD could not possibly be Jesus ben Damneus who made it into priesthood in 62AD. Now, it's possible James the Just had more than one brother named Jesus, so just provide a simple reference so we know! |
FOLYKAZE:Lol! |
FOLYKAZE:You never cited the passage! What you did do was throw an entire book at me and expect me to wade through it to find evidence for your claim! |
FOLYKAZE:Really! So you don't want a whole book thrown at you like you have done above, lol. Like I said, you funny. |
FOLYKAZE:His name may be Romanized but he was still a Jew! Just like I my Englishsise my name and remain Nigerian! "Titus Flavius Josephus, born Yosef ben Matityahu, was a first-century Romano-Jewish historian". FOLYKAZE:So, you want me to go through an entire book to find a reference for your claim that "James the Just was the brother of Jesus ben Damneus", and despite the fact that your source clearly distinguishes "the brother of Jesus who was called Christ, whose name was James", from "Jesus, the son of Damneus the High Priest"? It is what is done by those who have no evidence for their claims, I've found! |
benalvino3:This is a case that is before the jury, and not a case before buzzfeed. And statements are not evidence! |
benalvino3:Have you seen the evidence? Is buzzfeed not just stating what an accused claimed in defence? Yet, here you are presenting it as if the person's contract and paycheck from the FBI was presented in court as evidence. Sorry, but I can't be lazy like that, as you should know by now. |
FOLYKAZE:Might one not as well say Josephus was a Jew, and thereby discount whatever he wrote about Christ? Anyway, please provide a reference for "James the Just was the brother of Jesus ben Damneus". It would be interesting to see. |
Pelecius:A hybrid is a change. And you'd need to change quite a lot for the type of fuel a car uses to change, or you might be filling a Tesla with petrol. |
FOLYKAZE:Oh! So James the Just was the brother of Jesus ben Damneus. You'd need to provide a source for this please. Its interesting at best. While I wait. Here again is from your own wiki source. The works of Josephus refer to at least twenty different people with the name Jesus, and in chapter 9 of Book 20, and scholars agree that Jesus the son of Damneus is distinct from the reference to "Jesus called Christ", who is mentioned along with the identification of James. John Painter states that phrase "who was called Christ" is used by Josephus in this passage "by way of distinguishing him from others of the same name such as the high priest Jesus son of Damneus, or Jesus son of Gamaliel" both having been mentioned by Josephus in this context. |
As in, Jesus was a rather popular name and there were many Jesuses. Thanks for pointing it out. Pity Folykaze does not see this as buttering his position somewhat. BassReeves: |
FOLYKAZE:Oh good! So Jesus Damneus of 62AD is not the same person as Jesus of Nazareth of 33AD. Could you kindly tell me who the brother of James the Just was? Meanwhile, note that I did not provide Josephus as evidence for Jesus Christ. |
FOLYKAZE:I'm glad you are disappointed, though your thoughts of me are rather inconsequential. I've refered to your own evidence provided above and asked you a simple question, but see as you "You went and copy gibberish content off the internet like you are discussing with some kids". Or do you think pointing me to stuff is any different to copying and pasting it here? My question was one of simple understanding of a short text from what you provided, and if we can not settle simple things in one single paragraph, I do not really see the worth of me engaging in the contents of an entire book with you! So, I ask again. From what you posted, is Jesus ben Damneus the same person as the brother of James whom Ananus he replaced was written to have executed? |
