I can bet my last bag of garri that the Nigerian Olympic committee was given millions of dollars for out of competion testing of athletes and also they took money from federal goverment to do same testing but here comes the breaking news... That is despite all this money received no testing was done and money is gone... I will bet my last bag of Beans on this too.
I would not bet against you for fear I might lose.
Sports › Re: 10 Nigerian Athletes Banned From Tokyo Olympics by budaatum: 5:47pm On Jul 28, 2021
The key requirement in Rule 15 is that an athlete from a ‘Category A’ country must undergo at least three no-notice out-of-competition tests (urine and blood) conducted no less than three weeks apart in the 10 months leading up to a major event.
This is Nigeria letting us citizens down by not conducting no-notice out-of-competition tests.

Shameful, after all the training done by the athletes.

I think we are headed worse than Lebanon, being a nation that produces, or rather, sucks only crude oil from the ground.

Perhaps when we get there we'd stop blaming bubu that Nigerians elected, and blame us for not choosing a better leader, though bubu was a better optin than the alternative who would have made us Lebanon a lot sooner.

Actually, it is intelligent citizens from whom the leaders are selected to create strong institutions that change a nation for the better, unless you expect strong institutions to drop from heaven.

It is this sort of irresponsibility that gives Nigerians a bad rep.

If we took responsibility for our actions perhaps we would be minded to behave better instead of claimimg bubu made us behave as cows.

It would be interesting to see whom we blame when bubu is no more.

This should be a lesson to indoctrinators. You may try to indoctrinate your child with what you wish it believes, but as it grows it would mature to use it's own brain and mind to seek understanding, and your indoctrination may lead it astray.

Thankfully, as SocialJustice informed me, and which I hope is true for this instance:

SocialJustice:
Dangote that only lists like 15% of his company publicly.
Citation required.

"For the Dangote refinery, we are not taking government money to buy it, which is the mistake that people are making. We are borrowing on the back of the cash-flow of this business. We know that this business is viable, it will work and it will return dividends. It has a cash-flow that is sustainable because refinery business, in the short term, will continue to be sustainable. That’s why banks have come forward to lend to us, so we can take equity in this.

“We are very proud that we did this. This is good for our shareholders, which includes all 200 Nigerians who will also be happily buying shares from this company if they had the opportunity. But now we have done on their behalf, so that ultimately the value will come to all of us.

“But there is no way you can watch a business of this magnitude, of this sensitivity, to run without the involvement of the national oil company. No country does this.”
https://www.channelstv.com/2021/06/29/why-nnpc-is-borrowing-to-acquire-20-percent-equity-in-dangote-refinery-mele-kyari/amp/
I'm certain Mr Mele Kyari meant 200 million Nigerians, but he should consider letting those who wish to buy shares in Dangote do so as private citizens, as government hand tends to soil private venture.

Christianity Etc › Re: Did The Bible Really Say That A Woman Must Marry Her Rapist? by budaatum: 7:31pm On Jul 27, 2021
alBHAGDADI:
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 King James Version (KJV)
28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

As seen above, the man marries the girl because it was consensual sex which she fell for after his seductive games. But below is pure rape because he forced her, that's why he's ordered to be killed and the lady is not ordered to marry him.
alBHAGDADI:
Deuteronomy 22:25-26 King James Version (KJV)
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die.
But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:

cc lalasticlala
The difference in the two verses above is about whether the woman is betrothed or not, as in, whether they are pledged to a man or not. Is she isn't betrothed she is not raped, but if she is betrothed she is raped, which should make one consider that the crime is against the man she is bethroted to, and not the woman who was raped.

Thankfully, that was then and understanding has evolved. Jesus uped the standard for his followers and taught that mere looking with lust was a sin, and legally today, if you lay hold or force a damsel to lie with you without her consent, you are a rapist!

As to which Bible version to read, the doctrine of not living by only one book, applies

Politics › Re: Eastern Palm Oil Developed Malaysia by budaatum: 12:55am On Jul 26, 2021
History and Origin
The oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) originated from West Africa, where evidence of its use as a staple food crop dates as far back as 5,000 years. There is even evidence in Egyptian tombs of people being buried with casks of palm oil, reflecting the high societal value attributed to the product. Needless to say, with origins in West Africa and evidence of consumption in Egypt, palm oil can be considered one of the earliest traded commodities.

While palm oil was ubiquitous in West Africa, the use of palm oil in the international market expanded significantly as a result of the British Industrial Revolution and the expansion of overseas trade. From candle-making to industrial lubricants, palm oil was a driving force behind the expansion of industrial production, while nutrient rich red palm oil became a vital asset on long sea-faring voyages. And it was a result of this increased demand that Europeans began investing in palm oil production, first in West Africa and then expanding to Southeast Asia.

Pity we did not use that oil to power our own industrial revolution being that we are all just "palm oil! groundnut!" with not much to show for it. Crude oil too but no petrol but blaming Fulani for the plight we are in instead of taking responsibility to fight for what we want.

Remember these jobs, though we all know are being kind of sort of reserved for some, are democratically for those who win elections, so perhaps we just need to beat them to 'deserve' what they pay themselves.

I know I for one wouldn't mind this as my pension and neither should you if some would pay it you.
