Before Obama race relations were perceived to be better because black people were not enboldened by a black President in the White House and the white folks were not intimidated by a black President in the White House, but as soon as a black President got in to the White House the blacks got enboldened to speak up and that threatened the white folks, is what really happened.

I watched about 5 min of that video. I just busted into laughter when that dude said he preferred the plantation (slavery) to the Democrats plantation. Of course far right and white nationalist would applause that sort of video lol

He also failed to discuss why the black family where breaking apart. He rather said it was something in the like of abortion, lack of moral character e.t.c. he completely disregarded racism. One thing I have noticed is that if you don't give people a level playing ground or opportunity to excel, it could also break family apart which the guy failed to realise.

John Lewis, MLK and many late civil right activists would be rolling in their graves because of the stuffs coming out from the mouth of that guy. He wouldn't have a platform to discuss the stuff coming out of his mouth if he was still in the slave plantation that he prefers to the Democrat's plantation.

The Nigerians we talk about currently exceling in the US also have the democrat's plantation/civil right movements to thank for that.

My 2 cents
I first stopped when he went antigod, but had to force myself to watch to the end only to find it just got more incoherent.

You, benalvino, should he telling him to get over his antigod bias instead of him substituting it for a bias against Democrats, because it is absurd to think the millions opposing what they saw happen to George Floyd was because they were told to oppose it by the Democrats just as it would be equally as absurdly ignorant to claim the Igbos are fighting their perceived oppression because Kanu says they are being oppressed, or that the Palestinians are not really being oppressed until Hamas convinces them that they are oppressed.

What I think you ben are doing is substitute a solution for the problem, which is why you seem to insist the oppressed should work harder to overcome their oppression while some are instead working harder to eliminate the oppressing forces completely. The school post is a case in point. You can study harder indeed, but if the system is used to oppress and fail you as a race or a tribe or a class (the gypsies experience in UK is the same as that of the blacks), only a few will ever succeed as the program showed, and as you too would by pointing to the few who left the plantation and then claiming those who don't are victims of the Democrats.

Over here in UK you'd come across a class of whites who claim another class of whites oppress them. It is the class struggle we play out in our politics between the two main parties here where class is the greater divide and not race as it is in US.

I expect you to disagree of course, so don't you mind if I do not respond much.

The Bible is an old book, written in times when very little was known, so the Bible pointed early understanding and up until about the 17th century to a young earth of about 7000 years old until we did science, as in asked and knocked and sought with all our hearts and minds and soul and beings for more information and now we know better.

Today, we benefit from all that asking and knocking and seeking and find it absurd that anyone could possibly have thought the earth was so young, but in the past one could have been burnt for heresy for claiming the earth was billions of years old.

We understand our Bible through our current ways of looking and seeing, which has changed a lot over time, and is a lesson one can easily observe happening between the Old and the New Testament. Because even though Christ is written to have said he did not come to change the Law, it is very obvious he gave a new understanding to the Law, and has given us the authority for even newer understandings hence why we are sent the Holy Spirit as a guide and the example of it being used by Paul.

shadeyinka:
Hearing of this word for the first time.

I think the bible points more towards an OLD earth than a YOUNG (7000 years old) earth. Genesis took care of this.

1. In the beginning, God created the Heavens (everything else other than the earth) and the Earth.
2. Sometimes after this creation (no one knows how long) , the Earth (specifically) was desolate (without form and void with darkness covering everything)
3. The account of the populating of the earth starts with God separating the Waters from the Ground. (You will note that nowhere was water created: it was already present so also the ground)

Here, some theologians postulate that perhaps the OLD earth was destroyed at a time in the past and they site the fall of satan/war in heaven as the cause. Hence to these theologians, the earth is as old as the rest of the universe (13.6 billion years) but the narration in Genesis is about the REPOPULATION of the earth with living things (approximately 7000 years ago)

Theologians who believe in Omphaloism may want to disregard that the phrase "In the beginning" to mean 7000 years ago rather than an earlier time. They use Noah's flood as the source of all the fossils, shales, coal, graphite and crude oil in the world. Some may disagree with the various scientific dating methods siting the fact that the earth has changed with time.

What does the bible say to clarify this? Nothing!
The bible isn't a scientific book. It is mainly a Chronicle emphasising relationship of Man with God and with himself.

My Understanding:
1. The earth is the same age as the rest of the universe
2. It appears there was an old world probably populated with giant prehistoric animals and giant trees but destroyed with water filling up everywhere
3. It appears there was a recreation of living things including man as reported by Genesis 1.
4. It appears that there was a second floor during the time of Noah that buried billions of tonnes of living things and trees.

This could mean that our current sources of fossils, shales, coal, graphite and crude oil may have come from both floods. I strongly believe that fossil fuels came from a sudden burial of a large collection of both animals and plants remains and not through gradual burial as described in literatures.

5. It is also important to note that the earth was divided along the tectonic plates AFTER the Noah's flood. In other words the geology of the earth before the flood was vastly different from now.

Above is my little take on your inspiring topic.

It's not just the white men that anger are directed towards. Carribeans too have bottled up anger towards Africans because they know Africans collaborated with the white men enslavers.
I see you are trying to educate Benalvino2. But see how he insists its not the same kind of bias despite he himself claiming:

benalvino2:
we all have some kind of bias, and other traits that brings about racism and other divides based on our likeness. I use language we speak, tribe we are from, color of our skin, gender, family, looks as an example what could lead to discrimination. I went further stating that as long as there is something to differentiate two people, differences and discrimination will come from it. That we are tribal by instinct. And we learn and unlearn things. I also went on while we cannot eradicate racism we can raise awareness to reduce it. Mix with the other sets.
I will of course be watching to see how far you are able to raise his awareness to eradicate his bias which I believe is possible.

See here my response to another move onist.

I wonder what the so called osus would say about your claim that they are not oppressed.

There are some on here claiming the Igbos are not oppressed neither because they can do business where they want and marry who they want and farm where they want, so I wonder if you will agree with them and stop this your call for Biafra because "What oppression?"

After all, "Honestly, the rest of Nigeria don't regard the Igbo pain with much seriousness in their community"?

whirlwind7:
What oppression?
The few cases I'm aware of (including my village in Imo State) the Osu among us don't get disrespected in anyway.
They own their lands, they own businesses, they build houses, they partake of every social events in my community that they care to.
Only place the line is drawn is having them married to those who are deemed as non osu.
Moreover, in the event a marriage is contracted without the community becoming aware at the onset and tried to stop it, the marriage stays.
Except the couples themselves decided to part ways due to pressure, the community doesn't take steps to nullify the marriage. They only try to prevent it.

When you say oppressed, you give the impression that they aren't allowed to farm, to use the community stream, to buy and sell at the markets, or to even have friends among the community.

Many of them like to live outside their communities or states, where they become very successful. Some of the best looking houses in my community are owned by them, and another thing I noticed is that, they themselves are very selective of the people they marry (in terms of physical appearance) which ensures they produce beautiful children.

Two years ago, my community hosted a beauty pageant and the winner was this devastatingly beautiful damsel wẹ later found out her parents were osu.

Honestly, we don't regard it with much seriousness in my community. We've learnt from so called freeborns who married osu and their lives have been bliss.

The program above is based on the book How the West Indian Child is Made Educationally Sub-normal in the British School System: The Scandal of the Black Child in Schools in Britain is a non-fiction book by Grenadian author Bernard Coard published in May 1971 by New Beacon Books in the United Kingdom. In the book, Coard examines educational inequality and institutional racism in the British educational system through the lens of the country's "educationally subnormal" (ESN) schools—previously called "schools for the mentally subnormal"—which disproportionately and wrongly enrolled Black children, especially those from the British Afro-Caribbean community. These students rarely advanced out of ESN schools and suffered educationally and economically. Coard also intentionally made a "critical decision" to write specifically for an audience of Black parents.

In the 1960s, while young black adults were getting to grips with the struggle for black power and a long fightback against police abuse was starting, the majority of West Indian migrants were keeping their heads down. They were working hard and counting on providing better opportunities and education for their children. However, in a white-dominated country, where the politics were becoming increasingly racialised, there was a question of how society, and its teachers, saw these young black children.

Before having a chance to develop intellectually, they were labelled as stupid, difficult and disruptive. The paradox is that many of the new migrants to Britain were in fact highly educated. One of them was Gus John, who arrived from Trinidad as a Dominican novitiate to become a priest. Almost immediately he was contacted by some black parents worried about the schooling of their children. Together with several other educators, John quickly realised that the system was not just inept, but actually rigged against black children.

At the same time, celebrity psychologists Hans Eysenck and Arthur Jensen were propounding theories that black people were genetically less intelligent than white people. These theories infiltrated teacher training and found their way into schools. IQ tests were then based on these theories with the odds horrendously stacked against children from the West Indies.

This is what is showing on BBC One right now. It took the arrival of new immigrants to point out what had been being done to the former immigrants.

Image123:
Here, your link says " a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation narrative, which implies that the Earth is only a few thousand years old."
You are here saying that SOME people say so. i have no problem with that, but your links calls it a literal interpretation of the Bible. that is where the disagreement is.
Sounds like you want a discussion about "literal interpretations", or what people infer from what might be implied.

Some have and still do selectively literally interpret their reading of the Bible that way as you can see from the links I posted to such people right here on Nairaland. In fact, if you get your hands on an old King James Version, you'd see the exact date of creation in the margins as determined by Bishop Ussher, which makes such literal interpretations easier to infer since it is literally implied

American fundamentalists in 1925 found—and generally accepted as accurate—Ussher’s careful calculation of dates, going all the way back to Creation, in the margins of their family Bibles. (In fact, until the 1970s, the Bibles placed in nearly every hotel room by the Gideon Society carried his chronology.)
Bishop James Ussher Sets the Date for Creation: October 23, 4004 B.C.

Literal interpreting - also sometimes erroneously referred to as fundamentalism, which it is similar to but not exactly the same thing as - is simply what we read someone did when Christ is written to have said "unless one is born again, one shall not enter the Kingdom of God". One may say Jesus implied one should enter back into one's mother's womb to be born as a baby again, and you will still hear some ask how a grown person is to enter their mother's womb to be reborn, an understanding they themselves infer based on a literal interpretation of what Christ is written to have said, which is why I do not give countenance to those who claim "the Bible says" (implies), when the truth is the Bible did not say anything and we all refer to what we understand from our reading of what is written in the Bible and claim, lie even, that the Bible said what we ourselves inferred. Paul would describe such people as those who spake as a child and understood as a child, and thought as a child and who have not yet put away childish things and become mature adults.

Its what you yourself did here by initially implying I meant what you inferred until you decided to question me face to face so you may know in whole (devoid of inferences) what I meant by my post.

Literally speaking, you became as a child by giving me the benefit of the doubt that what you inferred might not exactly be what I implied, and by abiding faith, hope and the greatest of these which is charity towards buda your fellow human being, you put away the initial childish inferences, became an adult and are hopefully reborn with a new clearer understanding of what buda wrote. I hope.

The march to fascism has begun, and woe betide the foolish cockroaches in Umudike who support these fascist liars and Conspiracy theorists. The confederate states are on the rise again.
Lol. We Nigerians are so young at practising democracy that we fail to see how powerful and effective it can be.

Take the bamboo hunt in Arizona for instance. That's democracy at work. Heads will roll if they find the kraken, just as it would have rolled if Flynn had been able to plant it there and we now find out he had which we would have definitely found out through an audit like is currently being done, though we'd have had it done by more balanced and reputable people and organisations.

What amazed and surprised them is how effective Stacy Abrams was in getting the vote out and hiring me buda to help raise the dead and provide them with authentic id so they can vote please do not ever forget!

If we Nigerians can learn from what she did our next president would be the one we most desire, instead of us letting them impose a president on us by making us believe our vote does not count which Stacy Abrams just proved not to be true and that our votes do count.

Fascists can win elections, don't get me wrong, if they have a majority of course they can. But that's why we are here educating the educatables so they see the evil of fascism and turn away from it in abhorence because education is the only way to vaccinate against fascism.

As for the confederate states, the reapportioning of congressional seats is a wonderful thing since populations in such states will dwindle as non-confederates leave town, which will reduce their representation. And of course there's the little issue of buda raising the dead to vote against confederacy, which with covid19, the limit is limitless since I can raise some from India.

We must be careful of course, and very vigilant, but the best thing since slice bread is the orange turd woke us up so we may never ever fall asleep and let them get away with such crap ever again.

That some "believe that the universe was created by a divine being, within the past six to ten thousand years (in keeping with flood geology), and that the presence of objective, verifiable evidence that the universe is older than approximately ten millennia is due to the creator introducing false evidence that makes the universe appear significantly older"?

That "Various supporters of Young Earth creationism have given different explanations for their belief that the universe is filled with false evidence of the universe's age, including a belief that some things needed to be created at a certain age for the ecosystems to function, or their belief that the creator was deliberately planting deceptive evidence"?
