WebmastersRe: Comment on this site i made-thanks by Cactus(m): 9:59pm On May 01, 2006
Redesign the site that is just what an amateur designer will create, fonts, flash everything loads slowly and look hew. oh well you might not notice but some of your hyperlinks are halfed, eg the contact us link at the bottom of the page, i guess its only linked from t us instead of contact us the two words together.

there are so many people that have websites, yet they still use yahoo, hotmail, or gmail as their contact add.
if its something that has to do with hosting, well you better look for the best hosting service out there that supply free pop accounts.

even if you dont change anything else on your page you must definitely change the contact email to reflect you@yoursite.com or info@yoursite.com or anitin but stop using yahoo hotmail or anyany webmails.
ProgrammingRe: Another Bill Gate In Nigeria by Cactus(m): 2:30pm On Apr 29, 2006
Though the article tries to peak into the future, this is virtually impossible to happen, though people love to hear stories like this and hope it happens. however, to accumulate $10 billion in two years its virutally impossible. by that time, i believe open source will definitely be mainstream, thanks to the likes of google, then microsoft and others may have to change their business model.

the manner in whcih the article is written is very poor, the date should have been given right at the beginning of the article
The date is Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

ComputersRe: Yahoo Mail Beta (ajaxed) by Cactus(m): 2:22am On Apr 27, 2006
Same here, very slow to load, the old version is better. I think yahoo does not have much to do
whao, there is absolutely no doubt its faster than the old version because, checking you emails in the old version will require you to reload all the elements on the page, however, implementing AJAX, makes you load only the elements that change.

do you generally experience slow loading page? well if yea, you may have to clean up your system. if not thats cool.

well some people like graphics others text based, I prefer the textual content maybe you guys just like the graphics on the pages

but since many people in naija for instance use yahoo, this is a step forward in cutting down on the duration it takes in checking their mails.

regardless, the option is always there to stick to what you like but eventually Yahoo's default will be the AJAX and you may be able to revert to the old version.

ComputersRe: Yahoo Mail Beta (ajaxed) by Cactus(m): 4:23pm On Apr 26, 2006
thats a nice tip, well definitely google is setting an example for everyone else by building light applications. though the yahoo's version is still in the beta stages its cool, twill be advisable for them to do something about their flash/big ads on the pages cos it makes the page slower to load.

what i am really looking forward to is for google to develop their own operating system. I definitely will use it cos its pretty much guaranteed it wouldnt be as bulky as microsoft, though it may require access to the internet. thats no problem cos many people are always connected.
ProgrammingRe: Networking by Cactus(m): 3:53pm On Apr 26, 2006
its kind of difficult to give you suggestions because you did not include what the current status of the locations are regarding internet service currently in use, and what you would like to do. well if you already have internet access at the three locations, and you have your servers set up you can use a couple of options of which include

register for a DNS name forwarding service, which is free. www.dyndns.org

or use a VNC software

ComputersRe: I Think Nigerians Need Macintosh Computers! by Cactus(m): 1:57am On Apr 26, 2006
whao that is really cheap indeed, thats over $3500

though i am not a mac user, macs rox, but now that they are moving to intel based chips it kinda bothers me cos eventually u will be able to install windows on macs, use windows based software on macs. i do feel the profitability for apple in the computing sector may diminish. as they move to intel.

what do u guys think
WebmastersRe: Which Web Programming Language Are The Hardest & The Easiest? by Cactus(m): 1:41am On Apr 26, 2006
well thats your opinion, and each and everyone of us has our opinion

you reasoning is all covered in faults, go tell the people that created java.
WebmastersRe: Which Web Programming Language Are The Hardest & The Easiest? by Cactus(m): 10:07pm On Apr 25, 2006
the java architecture is very extensive of which includes, servlets, beans. why wouldnt java be considered as a web programming language. Though it is mainly used for client side application, and also platform independent, java allows developers to create complex programs/application on websites.

If u consider java as not being a web programming language, what would you say of J#
ProgrammingRe: Programming Software Purchase by Cactus(m): 6:12pm On Apr 25, 2006
well since i am not located in the country the best i was able to get and seeing from your location u r located in abuja, i was told that if u do go to wuse zone 3 you should be able to find something there. cos my IT guys in abuja thats where they get their stuff from.

However, dont limit yourself to microsoft based development, majority of web development is based on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP). You might be familiar with those. just my tot

software dev, well that all depends on what u r trying to do and the requirements involved, clients technology.

Christianity EtcRe: Evolution Or Creation: Which Do You Believe? by Cactus(m): 10:29pm On Apr 24, 2006
the issue of creationism and evolution i do believe will never be answered. Though i am a christian, some questions are yet to be answered. what happened Before Christ. at least people were in existence long before christ came, were there any religions in existence, prehistoric times (before any , , evolution has definitely played its part in our existence.

EducationRe: How To Improve Your Memory by Cactus(m): 7:10am On Apr 24, 2006
Improving memory requires constant exercising, proper nutrition/hydration. No single diet work for everyone as people r allergic though there are generic food items which help in the long run.

as for me i play scrabble more than 5 times daily playing 6 - 10 minute games which are really fast keeps me alert and continually thinking.

That works for me i guess very good mental exercise

WebmastersRe: I Think Webmasters Should Be Hack Proof by Cactus(m): 9:06pm On Apr 23, 2006
I do clearly understand all what you are trying to explain, my response was in regards to the manner the initial author of the post regarded it to the Nigerian web developent community, which is also applicable to all web developers.

well i do hope someday and sometime soon web security will be more efficient limiting the number of hackers and the possibilities of being hacked.
WebmastersRe: I Think Webmasters Should Be Hack Proof by Cactus(m): 1:17am On Apr 23, 2006
regardless of what you do sites can be hacked and will be hacked, someone out there will be equally or if not more knowledgeable that the person or people that implemented the security systems.

especially web development in asp.net, thats very easy to hack into.
