My school won't allow me register for courses until July 12th and I had already booked for a flight ticket on the 7th. Please what can I do about this, Thank you Sir/ Ma

Ask your school to send you an official letter stating that you are not allowed to register for your courses till 12th July 2022. Show this letter to the immigration officers at the airport when they ask for your enrollment letter.

Yes, EPS of N5 for 22 FY is possible.

I said it here few months ago, either Lafarge will come up or BUA cement will come down. Both stocks will soon sell at the same price in the next 18 months probably at N50.

It will get to a stage when Rabiu cant defend the price of BUA cement again.

The expected price of BUA cement in the next 3 to 4 years is already factored in into the current price of the stock

N50 by next 18 months? I disagree bro... I believe it might be around N45/50 before year end.

Wapco best shot in terms of PAT is their Q2. I noticed a pattern in their last 2/3 financial year results. They usually double their PAT during Q2 when compared to Q1.

If history repeats itself, the journey to N50 before year end is sure. Q2 EPS of N3 when the price is under N40, is something investors cannot ignore.

That Bua Cement eh l just no understand the stock at all
This could be the reason why the stock isn't appreciating in price.

BUA: Q1 22 EPS =0.98
Current price =74.25
P.E = 75.7

WAPCO: Q1 22 EPS =1.09
Current price =28.90
P.E =26.5

DANGOTE CEMENT: Q1 22 EPS =6.18
current price: =300
P.E =48.5

In View of Q1 22 result, BUA is Currently overvalued compared to its peers in same sector.

Investors/traders would prefer buying Wapco.

@emmanuelewumi... I know you are a strong believer of united capitals . What's is your take on their Q1 2022 result?

By the way, I am actually enjoying the banter between Gandalf and Biafran4life. Nice one guys.

For me, the recent drop in price has nothing to do with their result which almost did 40% PAT YoY. This is just Q1 result and the stock has already done over 30% increase in price movt from Jan 1. For me, the recent drop in price is just normal ....nothing special about it. The stock is just taking a breather.

If that is the case, the minimum target is to have a portfolio that is equivalent to your annual salary for 20 years, after using capital appreciation as an investment strategy over a period of 20 years.

Anything short of this is to rework the strategy, incorporate some personal finance, financial planning and management into your strategy

The koko is to create wealth either through cash flow or capital appreciation.

Exactly...wealth creation is the ultimate goal irrespective of whatever strategy you want to use.

I have been in the market for more than a decade and my strategy works for me.

Dividend or cash flow from Investment is different from profit.

There is a 95% probability that the dividend will be the same or better this year and beyond, there is no probability that he will make the profit he may from the portfolio in 2021.

I have a very controversial opinion, which is after Investing in the capital for 20 years, you should be able to get dividends that is equivalent to or higher than your current salary in a year.

My opinion though

I honestly do respect your knowledge and experience in the stock market as well as your investment strategies. I have learned alot from you.

But my strategy is more of the Oga Oracle's style... I don't invest for dividend....just price appreciation. smiley

It is dividend not profit. They are different.

Oh...I miss that part. If it is dividend, then it is perfectly fine.

@foundwealth001...In my opinion, if your objective is to become a billionaire by 2030 like you said, having too many stocks in your portfolio might not take you faster to that destination.

I think you should look towards having a mixture of blue chips/high dividend paying stocks and some growth stocks depending on the direction of the market. Maybe less than 10 stocks in your portfolio so that you can easily monitor them.

I believe in concentration of funds in selected few stocks than having so many stocks.

Take for example...let's see you saw the potential in growth stocks like Vitafoam/ fidson or Ucap two years ago or early last year and you concentrated a huge part of your fund into buying them, I believe your portfolio will worth far more than what it is currently.

Just my honest opinion anyway.

@pa elder Emma,
Many thanks for your feedback and suggestions, I'm currently with my brother, we worked up his dividends in 2021 financial year, total dividends earned was N3,433,221. Compared with my portfolio that earned N9,770,127.55k, as at November 2021, my portfolio was N96.7M, I made additional investments in Dangote cement and MTNN from December 2021 to February 2022.
The issue at hand now is that he does not want to rebalance at a loss and buying blue chip stocks at the current exorbitant prices.
He agreed to reduce the portfolio to maximum of 30 equities.
Also agreed to retain the stocks that mirror my portfolio, while disposing 43 that are the worst of the 73 stocks in his portfolio.
Also plan to invests all dividends of year 2022 in a fixed income assets.
He is seeking the expertise of a professional who can rebalance his portfolio at a cost.
Please if you know any1, kindly share your email on this platform for further discussion.
I do not have the knowledge to rebalance my brother portfolio, kind of giving me headache.
I recommend a professional stock guru/investor to do the task. Pls if you are available, you are needed.
Brokerage statement and current cscs statement will be made available

From your post, I notice you said as at November 2021, the worth of your portfolio is 97M and you earned 9.77M as profit...that is, you made around 10% as profit last year.

Well, I am not suppose to say this but I just have to since we are all here to learn. Bros, I think you are not earning enough with the huge fund at your disposal.

The market paid so well last year and you only made 10% as profit?

Honestly, I think you have to do better.

Hello my people,

I just noticed that my MTN public offer has been updated in my MC trading account. The total number of shares is correct, but the Ave cost is wrong. Should I need to escalate. I was expecting an average cost of 168.5, as my previous Ave cost was 168 before the PO units, but to my surprise the current Ave cost is now 180.1.

Please advise. Thank you

You don't have anything to worry about...as long as the total Units of your MTN shares is correct.

With a N10 million portfolio you can get a margin facility of N10 million which you can use to buy additional shares. Giving you a total portfolio size of N20 million. The N20 million portfolio is with the Stockbroker who gave you the facility.
Most people who take margin loans hope to pay back through capital appreciation of their securities.
You options are limited with a margin loan, you can only buy stocks approved by the Stockbroker and the approved stocks can be reviewed, when a stock is no longer on the list you are expected to sell the stock or bring in more cash or transfer other acceptable stocks into the portfolio. The Stockbroker encourages more trading from a margin loan operator, so don't be surprised if the commissions paid is higher than you interest payments when you audit your margin account at the end of the year.

In a share backed loan, a portfolio of N10 million can assess a loan of between N4 million to N6 million depending on the quality of stocks in the portfolio. The portfolio with your creditor is just N10 million. You have the loan cash with you because the loan is paid into your bank account, you can decide on how you want to spend or invest the fund. Unlike a margin loan whereby your original portfolio and loan cash are with the borrower.Your primary means of paying back the loan is based on your cash flow, capital appreciation of the securities bought with the loan is more like icing on the cake.
People have used Share backed loans to expand their business, attend to emergencies instead of selling their shares in a down market.

Imagine those who sold their Zenith Bank shares at N11 in May 2020 in order to attend to emergencies, now the stock is up by about 150% excluding the dividends earned in 2021

Thanks for taking your time to explain in details. I really appreciate it!!!

I also confirmed that you can get a Share backed loan from Meristem Finance at 23% per annum.

It is advisable to take that than to go for the margin loan at 14%.

I hope you understand the difference between a Share backed loan and a margin loan?

Please what is the difference?

Well, I don't think you are entirely correct though. Guinness q1 runs from july- September, which is not a festive quarter and they made 4 billion as profit after tax.

In the recently releases q2 result, which runs from October- December, PAT was 4.7 billion. So the difference between q1 and q2 is basically 0.7 billion. So the issue of the festive period been the chief determinant of this result is not entirely true.

I strongly feel that the company is back to making profit for its shareholders.
