A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would lose the forthcoming Governorship election in Bayelsa state for “choosing to field a weak candidate.”

He therefore congratulated the candidate of the APC in Bayelsa state, David Lyon, ahead of the elections.

Frank in a statement in Abuja on Friday, noted that the APC’s candidate is better placed to win the elections in view of the fact that the PDP has curiously chosen to field a weak candidate against the APC’s flag-bearer.

“APC will win the forth-coming governorship election in Bayelsa State seeing the weak candidate (Governor Seriake) Dickson and the PDP have chosen as their flag-bearer,” Frank said.

“It is not my wish for the APC to win the forth coming Bayelsan governorship election in November as I am not a member of the APC neither am I a supporter of the party, but from the look of things, the choice made by Dickson and the PDP is not inspiring. Actually, it’s disappointing,” he said.

He noted that this was not the first time he is toeing this path.

Frank said: “I want to remind those that are surprised that this was the same position I took against my former party, the APC in 2015, when the former governor and now the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva was nominated. He lost the election.

“History is about to repeat itself albeit in PDP because it is making the same mistake that the APC made in 2015.

“Therefore, the handpicked PDP’s candidate will lose the forth coming governorship election in Bayelsa State.

“To prove my point, it could be recalled there was neither excitement nor jubilation from Bayelsans after the ‘arrangee’ primaries that produced the PDP’s candidate.

“The adhoc congress already programmed him to win, Bayelsans and PDP know that there was no congress in Bayelsa as it was programmed in a way to favour him. PDP will regret its action as it will son boomerang against them.

“Bayelsans had looked forward to a formidable candidate in the person of Chief Timi Alaibe but some powerful forces from the PDP’s NWC and Governor Dickson traded Timi Alaibe for a weak candidate for selfish reasons to enable the APC to take over the governorship of Bayelsa State.

“I am pained to see that Bayelsans will have no choice than to vote for APC which has a better candidate.

“Bayelsans should hold Dickson and PDP’s NWC responsible for the imminent APC’s victory in the state.

“I would have loved the PDP’s candidate to win as he is from my constituency but it is not feasible as this is a man that lost his local government during the last election.

The Bayelsa-born activist also commended and congratulated Timi Alaibe for his statemanship, adding that Alaibe has shown to be "a true leader but for those that collaborated and stole the happiness and joy of Bayelsans by manipulating the primaries, should beg for God's forgiveness otherwise posterity will judge them for making Bayelsans go through such pain."

Frank urged Alaibe's supporters to remain calm, believing that a direction of whom to vote at the November 16th governorship election will soon be revealed.

“The PDP knows very well that the APC is desperate to win any of the South-south states, yet they decided to field a weak candidate, thereby giving APC the victory through the back-door. The result of the election will serve as a lesson for PDP to learn to present a stronger candidate the next time.

“Instead of PDP to prepare to win more states, they are going to lose more if they continue this way due to selfish reasons. I know that truth is bitter but I will always stand by the truth,” he said.

Rubbish comment from a sore loser. Timi Frank just like Timi Alaibe contributed to the woes of the PDP in Bayelsa state. If others had decamped to the APC like the two, which platform would Alaibe have attempted to become the governor on.

Surely Alaibe did not expect to win the ticket. He forgot all his uncharitable words when he decamped to APC. Truly those who insulted and abused Jonathan are still paying the price for their inglorious behavior.

Some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State on Wednesday marched on the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikeja.

They protested the emergence of Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo as the chairman of the caretaker committee of the union.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as: ‘We say yes to union constitution, we want the government to save our soul in Lagos’, ‘We say no to Lagos NURTW, we say no to imposition’, ‘We say no to self-imposition as NURTW Lagos State chairman’, ‘We say no to thuggery in Lagos NURTW’, and others.

NURTW National President Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa appointed MC Oluomo as the caretaker chairman, Lagos State chapter of the union.

It was gathered that Baruwa issued a statement on Tuesday dissolving the executive committee of the state chapter hitherto headed by Comrade Tajudeen Agbede, who is now Baruwa’s deputy, and replaced it with an 18- member caretaker committee led by MC Oluomo.

MC Oluomo, the chairman of Oshodi branch, Lagos chapter of the union, is one of those contesting for the Lagos State NURTW chairmanship.

Speaking during the protest, one of the leaders, the Chairman of Ojuwoye NURTW branch, Ademola Olanrewaju, alleged that MC Oluomo’s emergence would cause chaos.

“A meeting was held yesterday and after the meeting, it was decided that MC Oluomo should emerge as the chairman of the caretaker committee.

“Directly or indirectly, they are trying to impose him on us because there was fracas in Abuja and both parties were supposed to be dealt with, but MC Oluomo’s group was exonerated.

“What we are agitating for is that we don’t want MC’s government in Lagos State.

“Lagos State has given us the little it can in terms of empowerment, by giving us what to eat.”

At press time, no government official had addressed the protesters.

It is quite painful when those who have never experienced the brutality unleashed on Nigerians by citizens of other countries in their nations speak without checking.

A few years ago, upon entering into Togo, our vehicle was trapped at the border. Reason: the Togolese wanted Nigerians to leave because Nigerians had taken over their businesses and women. Unfortunately the innocent among the Nigerians were made to suffer. You probably do not understand the extremities of xenophobia, particularly when it involves Nigerians. Granted that there are many irresponsible Nigerians out there. The bad Nigerians are only a small fraction of the decent ones in foreign lands. The innocent lose their lives. Many families back here grieve daily over the loss of their loved ones.

Now look at the attacks on the so called SA interests here. We never knew about South African interests until they were publicized. People were told that Shoprite, DSTV and MTN belonged to South Africa and they targeted them.

See, no single one has the prerogative of violence. The black man believes in an eye for an eye no matter the pretence of religious inclination. The South African police turned the other way. Baba go slow made no move. Several times Nigerians at home threatened reprisals and nothing was done. Definitely we expected this action to arise someday.

The Zimbabwean president spoke about the attacks on their own people. Surely with this we hope the SA authorities will wake up to the reality of the matter and do something about it.
