I agree with most things you have said, but to blame Africas woes on perceived exploitation by old colonial masters and western super powers is basically simplistic and flawed.
When you say "perceived exploitation" it makes me wince, i think you need to go back to the berlin conference of 1884 (a conference which dealt with how africa was to be divided up amongst various european nations) and follow the trajectory of africa's downward spiral since then, and then you will understand. Our exploitation is real not "perceived" and it continues to date.

wow! so your idea of democracy is wholesale looting of the nigerian treasury, mass unemployment, state sanctioned murder, mass poverty, deplorable education and health care and whole sale looting and plunder of our natural resources courtesy of the IMF and World bank.

If that's your idea of a democratic state, I wonder what your idea of an undemocratic one is, wonders shall never end!!!!!!!!!
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Do People Think Americans Are Stupid by cap28: 10:28am On Jul 09, 2010

I think Obama is intelligent, but silly. He thinks the world evolves round him alone. You can never eat your cake and have it at the same time. This is to you Osama, sorry Obama, if you want to be a Muslim, let us know, stop confessing Islam indirectly. America lived on the ideas and values that a true American must not compromise regardless of the differences and divides that rule the nation.
I agree with some of this ie the fact that Obama being the representative of the most powerful nation on earth beleives that the world should revolve around him, please note that I used the word "representative, Obama as president has no real power he is merely a pawn in  a game which is being controlled by much more powerful elements behind the scenes.

If you research the "military industrial complex in america" this should throw some light on who the real power brokers in america are.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military%E2%80%93industrial_complex

Obama is definitely not a muslim and i dont know where you got that idea from - his biological father i think was a muslim although not a devout one, and his mother's second husband was also a non devout muslim, Obama attended Reverend Wright's christian baptist church for 20 years and his two children were baptised there so this is hardly the behaviour of a practicing moslem.

And to the AA's, Obama is not your saviour and neither is he any better than those that have come before him. A politician will ever remain one till the end of consummation. Wake up America( AA's) and go back to school! The whites already have surplus and inheritance for their children through manipulation of funds and through hundreds of years of acquisition of properties from the slaves they once control.
This is very true - Obama is most definitely not the saviour of african americans and any african thinking that he is the saviour is also living in a fool's paradise.  Obama represents the most ruthless and powerful elements of the wall street banking cartel - they financed his election campaign, they are the ones who lobbied for the removal of banking restrictions and they are the ones who received billions of dollars in tax payers money even after creating one of the most scandalous banking melt downs in history.  Even after all of this not one person amongst them was ever reprimanded, instead even more tax payers money was given to them to "bail them out" of the mess they created.

Telling african americans to go back to school avoids the main problems that blacks in america face, many whites do not go to school but they are assisted by a system of govt which gives preference to whites and deliberately disadvantages blacks.
the united states is a country founded by white men for the benefit of white people in general NOT for the benefit of africans, african americans, chinese, japanese or indians, therefore any rights or benefits enjoyed by non whites in america have had to be fought for, they were not given as of right because the above mentioned groups were not regarded as american citizens.
Always remember that a country which is run and controlled by whites has an inbuilt structure within it which caters to the needs of  its own people ABOVE and BEYOND the needs of non whites.

Education is important but not necessarily for material advancement, education should be seen as a means of enlightenment, the kind of enlightenment which will enable  you to understand the world you live in and enable you to make choices which will benefit you, your children and future generations.

You are right in saying that many white americans are ahead of african americans in terms of material acquisitions due to the unfair advantage created by slavery, jim crow segregation and now institutionalised racism, Im not sure there is much african americans can do to change a system which is so heavily weighted against them.  The only viable option would be the creation of a black state which would enable african americans to run and control their own affairs much like the state of Israel.

naijamini:
@cap28

You make a number of important points, but I am afraid we might still be missing a well-rounded perspective on these issues
Of course, these were explicit policies in the past. However, it is mainly implicit today, and there are caucasians fighting Africa's cause even more than our rulers. So I would avoid generalizations at this point in time. The word "whitey" is probably as racist as the word "nigger". I think the major responsibility now falls on African leaders many of who, though free, continue to play the role of slaves.
Im afraid i beg to differ naijamini, first of all if a policy of exploitation that was explicit is now implicit how does that change things for africa's progress?

If a man who used to tell you to your face you are not equal to him, now calls you nigger but this time under his breath does that mean that he thinks better of you?  this is the posiiton of the black man - in the past we were blatantly told to our faces that we were inferior, now what happens is that you have a smiling white man treating you with the utmost courtesy but going behind to cheat and exploit you, how is that progress?

Where are these whites that are fighting the african man's cause?  I hope you don't mean those fake white liberals as they are  even more racist than the right wing whites, they pretend to sympathise with the cause of black people but at the end of the day no white person jeopardises his position in order to assist blacks.  Whites know the consequences of such behaviour is complete ostracism  from the white community and very few are willing to place themselves in such an unfavourable position. White people know that they are in a privilged position - by virtue of their white skin they have access to better employment, housing, healthcare and education than blacks  and very few are willing to loose all those privileges, this is why you will find some who know what is going on  but chose to do and say nothing.

There is no point looking to the current crop of african leaders that we have as they are western stooges, many of them have been assisted into power by way of western backed coup d'etats, they are subsequently armed and allowed to remain as life presidents in exchange for opening up our countries to wholesale pillage and plunder by these western vultures, a nigerian academic by the name of chinweizu Ibekwe describes them as black colonialists - these black colonialists are no different from their white predecessors - the only difference being that they are of the same race as the people that they abuse and exploit.  What we need is a complete cull of  these criminals, there is a need for them to be replaced with a new crop of fresh minds, who have not been tainted or brainwashed by western religion and education.

I  don't think there is any problem comparing achievements in areas that are common to human development across the globe. Food, health, transportation, etc are universal needs and achievements in these areas should be compared with other peoples' achievements. Healthy competition is actually good. It is the wholesome adoption of other peoples underlying worldview that has damaged the African psyche - much of it forced. Whatever we borrow from abroad must be localized - that is exactly what they did, that is what the Chinese are currently doing without losing "themselves". The underlying factors behind the industrial revolution were borrowed and customized.
The problem is we have completely absorbed the white man's supposed civilisation without stopping to question what it has done to our own civilisation, our economies and political systems have been tailored to suit the demands of foreign imperialist powers, africa was hijacked and divided up amongst a group of european imperialists for their own economic and political benefit not for ours, now is the time for us to step back and question what it has done for us and where we are headed.

You mention China but remember China actually had a revolution in 1949 - there was a concerted effort on the part of the chinese people to eradicate every trace of western influence, it was only after the chinese had succeeded in defeating all forms of foreign influence that they were able to begin the economic, political and cultural reconstruction of  their nation, are we at that stage yet? I would say no, until we get to a point where we realise that our very survival is dependant on a complete overhaul of what is currently in place we will remain stagnant.

I agree with your statement about localising production of what we import, our only saviour is industrialisation - we cannot continue to import stuff that we are capable of producing locally, this is why we need to start with removing the current crop of leaders that we have, they are following economic policies set out by the world bank and IMF which stipulate that we whould continue down this suicidal path of being suppliers of raw materials to western nations, no advanced nation on this planet became advanced by relying solely on the exportaion of raw materials, if we continue down this path we are doomed!

Moreover, Africans achieved great feats in ancient times, comparable to, and perhaps greater than, civilizations elsewhere. We cannot isolate ourselves, but also must not lose ourselves.
I think if THE leader comes along we can go places in as little as 20 years, but I am not talking about the borrowed and visionless Vision 2020. They already used up half a decade preparing useless documents on that one!
I agree and we are still capable of acheiving even greater things than those accomplished by our ancestors of ancient egypt but we must accept that in order to surpass our ancestors we must acknowledge that many aspects of our current condition will have to change -  it will not be a painless transition, it took the Chinese 70 years to be where they are today, and this involved the loss of many lives and severe sacrifice and discipline, are we prepared to make those kind of sacrifices in order to save future generations from inheriting the ignominious legacy of second class citizenry that has become the lot of black people all over the world?

Many are definitely trying to avoid responsibility - you hear this even from people you expect to know better. There also remains large sections that maintain the view that we are supposed to be their slaves. However, there are also others who realize the evil of these events and are fighting our cause. The problem is that our leaders are not providing any basis for hope given the slave-mentality from which they act - swiss accounts for one. Abacha's sons are still being convicted for the crimes they commiteed with their father, but are already gearing up for political office! ibb is attempting to climb into the chair of Nigeria's presidency!
The black race is involved in a war, a psychological and physical war, the psychological war is being fought by way of brainwashing, the western media are using all possible means to make us feel ashamed of who we are, they bombard us daily with negative images of ourselves, they are covertly trying to make us hate ourselves and in many ways they are succeeding.

The physical war is being fought on various levels - the economic exploitation of africa by way of the IMF and world bank which has crippled and destroyed the economies of various african nations, the imposition of corrupt puppet leaders who work in collaboration with western countries to exploit and destroy their own nations, the sale of arms to african countries in order to wage war against revolutionary nationalist movements who try to get rid of these puppet leaders and finally but most controversially by way of biological warfare - the HIV AIDS virus which is aimed at providing a "final solution" to the problem of the black man - dont take my word for it read former national security adviser Henry Kissinger's memo - NSSM 200 written when he was US national security adviser in the 1970's (during the Nixon administration) and you will find out what the US's stance was and still is with regard to what is euphemistically referred to as "population control" of the third world.

Yes, the struggle must continue, although I am not sure about the "white supremacist capitalism" characterization. The success of the industrial revolution certainly gave the caucasian race an air of invincibility that soon led to white supremacy, but capitalism itself, kept within the bounds where it works well, is the main means of generating immense wealth and national development. That is what China found out and has exploited to great advantage over the last few decades, while maintaining policitcal socialism.
My understanding of capitalism is that its main objective is the relentless pursuit of profit at any cost,  the beneficiaries of capitalism are not concerned about keeping it within certain limits they are concerned about making money and if making money means that some people will be losers in this process they see those losses as necessary evils, capitialism means that a business will close down a factory in an area causing mass unemployment simply because that business could make more money if it set up shop in a third world country where it can pay its workers starvation wages .  This is the whole basis of capitalism.  If you are talking about wealth generation please ask yourself this question - who are the people benefitting from the wealth generation?  I can tell you that it is not the ordinary worker on the street but the owners of these businesses, in america less than a fraction of 1% of the population of that country own 80% of the wealth of that country - that shoudl tell you that the wealth that you refer to is being enjoyed by a tiny elite, this tiny elite are the  people who run and own america, not the so called electorate.

I do not think a complete replication of capitalism as it currently obtains in nigeria is the answer, so i would agree with your statement that the chinese model of capitalism could be looked at as a good example.
Certain aspects of capitalism can work but not in its pure form, it must have a human face, in america and europe capitalism does not operate to the exclusion of certain aspects of socialism.  Here in the UK we have various welfare programmes aimed at providing a safety net for the most vulnerable people in society (although this is now in the process of being dismantled)

It is only in the third world that you find capitalism in its harsh unmodified form being imposed on the people which results in the kind of grim poverty and suffering that currently obtains in nigeria and other so called third world countries.

You got a problem with swearing? There just words, you cant handle it, tough. I dont take time either when talking to you to ensure that my English is of a standard that means I have to put in any time so you can have satisfaction that you are arguing with someone of the same language calliber as you.
I aint denying America has done agressive things for bleep sake (dont thank for ww2 or anything. Im sure you would rather the Nazi's being no1 in the world). This is a tribute to the Nigerian military. Read the title and stop screwing up the thread. If you dont agree with us then thats fine you have made your point. Now leave us alone. We are just looking at some cool pics. Your the one trying to censor us because they dont have a big tick next to your ideas.
9/11 had more impact on the world didnt it. Before the Congo wars, the Congo had a history of slaughter. There was nothing new. Yes I would rather it got more front-page news. But you cant have every day *another few thousand die of starvation" as your front page. It was only when violence flared up that it grabbed some news. The kivu conflict for example got a lot better coverage.
If calling you racist takes you off then you are  lipsrsealed
If you think that white mans news is out to get you then fair enough. Tell me how much did the Iranians look at the Congo in the nineties. The russians and the Chinease. Hmmmm not really got much to gain from helping America have they? Yet they gave nothing to the subject pretty much.
There are also plenty of other news sources that are independant such as reporters without borders that gave it more of a look yet barely anything. Mainly just the starvation.
You also made the point of how in the post before your last post the US was funding Congolese rebels not the DRC troops. So surely they would keep that nice and quite. Infact they would have someone else make that transaction. They would probebly give it to Uganda or Rwanda to give to the rebels. So where did you get that (the us fudning Congo rebels) from. huh
Now go to the DRC before you post here again. So you can witness how you are so wrong. You can talk to people there, you cant make your own source. Tell me how many reporters did global research send to the Congo. You are using an estimation for the death toll based on western news sources yourself.
I think you find it difficult to put your point across without being abusive, but i shall respond to some of your points:

I am aware that this is a tribute to the nigerian military but i think im entitled to voice my disagreement just as you are entitled to voice yours, as i said earlier i do not think the nigerian military have done anything for the nigerian people worth celebrating, the tanks, guns, planes etc are simply being used for THEIR OWN PROTECTION not for the protection of the nigerian people and it's territory.

Has nigeria ever fought and defeated an external enemy?   the nigerian military can't even guarantee the safety of its own citizens INSIDE the country (Jos) so why the celebration?

You say Congo has a history of slaughter - again do you know how this slaughter arose and who instigated it - are you aware that King Leopold of Belgium appropriated the whole of Congo in the 19th century and forced the congolese people to go out into the forests to tap rubber, the men who did not come back with enough rubber for the day had their limbs AMPUTATED, in other cases the wives and daughters of these men had their breasts cut off by the belgian soldiers and their black lackeys, so this slaughter that you talk of was actually initiated by the belgian colonialists.

Here is how the Belgians under King Leopold II  set in place a chain of events which have led to the tragedy that is the DRC today:

The genocide, mutilations and other crimes against humanity:
Under Léopold II's administration, the Congo Free State was subject to a terror regime, including atrocities such as mass killings and maimings which were used to subjugate the indigenous tribes of the Congo region and to procure slave labor.

He set in train a brutal colonial regime to maximize profitability. The first change was the introduction of the concept of terres vacantes — "vacant" land, which was anything that no European was living on. This was deemed to belong to the state, and servants of the state (i.e., any white men in Léopold's employ) were encouraged to exploit it.

Next, the Free State was divided into two economic zones: the Free Trade Zone was open to entrepreneurs of any European nation, who were allowed to buy 10 and 15-year monopoly leases on anything of value: ivory from a particular district, or the rubber concession, for example. The other zone — almost two-thirds of the Congo — became the Domaine Privé: the exclusive private property of the State, which was in turn the personal property of King Léopold.

Natives were required to provide State officials with set quotas of rubber and ivory at a fixed, government-mandated price, to provide food to the local post, and to provide 10% of their number as full-time forced laborers — slaves in all but name — and another 25% part-time.

To enforce the rubber quotas, the Force Publique (FP) was called in. The FP was an army whose purpose was to terrorize the local population. The officers were white agents of the State. Of the black soldiers, many were cannibals from the most fierce tribes from upper Congo. Others had been kidnapped during the raids on villages in their childhood and brought to Catholic missions, when they received a military training in conditions close to slavery. Armed with modern weapons and the chicotte — a bull whip made of hippopotamus hide — the Force Publique routinely took and tortured hostages (mostly women), flogged, and raped the natives. They also burned recalcitrant villages, and above all, took human hands as trophies on the orders of white officers to show that bullets hadn't been wasted.

One junior white officer described a raid to punish a village that had protested. The white officer in command: "ordered us to cut off the heads of the men and hang them on the village palisades, also their sexual members, and to hang the women and the children on the palisade in the form of a cross." After seeing a native killed for the first time, a Danish missionary wrote: "The soldier said 'Don't take this to heart so much. They kill us if we don't bring the rubber. The Commissioner has promised us if we have plenty of hands he will shorten our service'." In the words of author Peter Forbath's: "The baskets of severed hands, set down at the feet of the European post commanders, became the symbol of the Congo Free State. ,  The collection of hands became an end in itself. Force Publique soldiers brought them to the stations in place of rubber; they even went out to harvest them instead of rubber,  They became a sort of currency. They came to be used to make up for shortfalls in rubber quotas, to replace,  the people who were demanded for the forced labour gangs; and the Force Publique soldiers were paid their bonuses on the basis of how many hands they collected."

In theory, each right hand proved a judicial murder. In practice, soldiers sometimes "cheated" by simply cutting off the hand and leaving the victim to live or die. More than a few survivors later said that they had lived through a massacre by acting dead, not moving even when their hand was severed, and waiting till the soldiers left before seeking help.

The casual way you talk about the millions of dead africans is mind boggling - here is what you say and i quote: "But you cant have every day *another few thousand die of starvation as your front page".

It shows such disinterest as to the plight of your fellow black african, i wonder whether you would feel this way if it were whites dying in such large numbers.

The US funding of congo rebels is not the kind of information that you will find in a mainstream newspaper or on a mainstream news tv channel, i get my info from independant news sources who report the truth - they are not censored like the corporate western media news outlets.

Lol you say that I dont know anything yet you think that US policy has something to do with this thread. This is a tribute. Start your hate-America speech somewhere else. Also should the IMF keep the debt there so the DRC is even weaker? I dont know how you can compare that with your three-coarse-meal bleep.
The congo didnt get much publicity because it wasnt a full blown war. The armies were small and the area large. It was mostly death from starvation and disease.
Your an fing blow out. Your now saying their being used to help Rwanda and Uganda. You dont have a fu*k in side your tiny little head of yours.
"The whites mans truth". Fair enough your a racist. Is that why the likes of NTV and South African news agencies give the same news. In fact every non-bleeped country gives the same story. Funney that ey. Not just black or white or coloured but everyone.
If you dont like what we are doing here then go to a moderator and see what sort of response you'll get lol. And when that fails please do us all a favour, and go to the DRC and see what happens to you. See if you get shot by DRC troops or Ugandan's or Rwandans.
This is why i hate having discussions with foul mouthed illiterates like you, is it too much to ask for you to put your point across without resorting to foul language?

If you are so dumb and brainwashed that you do not know nor understand america's history of aggression around the world please at least have the decency to admit to your ignorance instead of accusing me of making a "hate america speech".  Unlike you i actually read books and research what is going on around me rather than get my information from fox, cnn and other propaganda outlets.

You say that the war in congo was not given publicity because it "wasnt a full blown war, the area was small and the armies large, - can you stop for a minute and listen to yourself - does that sound like the reasoning of an adult or someone still in kindergarten?

So the death of over 5 million people is insignificant to you- do you think that if 5 million whites were being murdered this information would not be beamed around the world on a daily basis, 3,000 americans died in the 9/11 attack and this story was front page news for months and yet to you the death of 5 million black africans in a war funded and orchestrated by america is of no importance.

the death and starvation that you dismiss so casually - who caused it?  Did it arise out of nowhere?  was it not triggered by this same proxy war which was funded and orchestrated by america?

What i said in my earlier post was that Rwandan and Ugandan troops are being used by the US to fight a war in the DRC in order to appropriate mineral rich land for american owned multinational corporations - why is this so hard for you to  understand?

Im a racist because i tell you that you are brainwashed, if thats your understanding of racism then i shall leave you to continue to stumble around in the darkness.

You say NTV and South African news agencies report the same news as the news in the west - you are really dumb arent you - have you heard of censoring before?
Politics › Re: Africa And African-americans: How Deep Is The Resentment? by cap28: 7:23pm On Jul 03, 2010
Naijamini this is a very interesting topic to which I'd like to make a few points:

For a very long time now africans and african americans have deliberately been kept in the dark as to what really happened in those dark days of slavery, the white slave master was able to completely brainwash the african american into believing that africans were primitive savages and that way of thinking continues to date (see bk babe's comments) some educated african americans on the other hand are aware that whitey is still up to his old tricks of divide and conquer.  In the case of africans whitey used religion and western education to destroy our minds and our ability to think for ourselves, this is why to date the average african idolises and mimics the ways of white people.

The white man cleverly taught us to hate ourselves (he did the same with the african americans) and today we celebrate our "acheivements" by comparing ourselves to whites instead of forging our own unique destinies.

We have been convinced by whitey that we are an inferior race and our actions demonstrate that we have fully subscribed to that school of thought.  It will take years of deprogramming for this to be rectified, our only hope now is future generations coming up (any person below the age of 18)  as i feel the current generation of blacks are a lost cause.

He (the white man)  continues to do his utmost best to keep africans and african americans divided and hostile towards each other hence the revised version of the slave trade and the rewriting of history.  Have you ever come across any historical account of the slave trade which was written by a white historian which accepts full responsibility for the atrocity which was the slave trade? of course not, instead what you hear are series of excuses - we did not invent it , they were practiicing it amongst themselves before we arrived, the arabs were enslaving them before we arrived etc but the truth is that no where on this planet have human beings been reduced to chattel in the way that black africans were by european slave traders.

The whites continue to shift the blame onto africans, conveniently forgetting that they were the ones who came with the guns and caused the mayhem and terror which led to africans turning against their own people.  In a bid to escape enslavement themselves many tribes turned against other tribes all of this instigated and orchestrated by white slave traders.

If the whites are genuine in their desire for the truth to be exposed why were people like Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Kwame Ture hounded out of america or in the case of Malcolm X murdered ?  These were after all men who created an awareness in the minds of african americans, teaching them to be proud of their african roots and explaining to them how they came to be in the position of subservience conferred upon them first by slavery and subsequently by a vicious system of segregation known as Jim Crow.

The only time a black person is welcolmed with open arms by the white american establishment is when that person chooses to bow and scrape before whites, these are the type of uncle toms who talk about being grateful for slavery and who like to delude themselves into thinking that they are better off than continental africans, they convince themselves that they're lives are better because they are eating the scraps and left overs that the white superemacist establishment chooses to give them - (Booker T Washington, WEB du bois).  These uncle tom's continue to sing the praises of white supremacy claiming that they are better off under racist uncle sam who degrades them, denies them their humanity and treats them like second class citizens in a country that was built on the sweat and blood of their ancestors.

All i can say is it is time to wake up and understand that we (africans and african americans) are both victims of one of the most heinous systems invented by man - white supremacist capitalism, white supremacist capitalism is what caused the depletion of man power from africa, the plunder and pillage of the african continent, the degradaion and abuse of people of african descent in the diaspora and eventually the creation of the most powerful nation on earth - the united states of america, but all done at the expense of the black african man.  Has anything changed to date - i woudl say no - blacks all over the world continue to be exploited, degraded and abused wherever we go in the world, therefore I think its time for us to understand that we should forget about the antagonism and start working together, this was Marcus Garvey's message - the whites knew this and they cut him down before he could become too powerful, he was even denied entry into africa because the white colonialists thought he might instigate the overthrow of the white colonialists.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Do People Think Americans Are Stupid by cap28: 6:11pm On Jul 03, 2010
the ordinary working class american people are not very aware of what goes on outside their country because they have been brainwashed by their govts, their media is also very powerful and it encourages them not to think, but the elite who run the country are very intelligent, but they are a small minority - these people constitute about 1% of the population but own about 80% of the wealth of america, they control everything - the banking system, the politicians, the economy , the media - everything.

in addition you have the intellectuals - academics, scientists, writers, political activists etc - they are well educated people and they understand the world we live in and what is going on but some choose to pretend and keep their mouths shut for fear of reprisals from the powers that be and others damn the consequences and speak out - but the latter group are in the minority.

I agree with Paddy_lo. Dont come here with these theories. First they are off-topic. Secound they have no proof (like America is trying to bleep up the DRC). Is that why the IMF (which has a large contribution from the US) trying to cancel out what could end up to be 90% of the DRC's external debt. Then you also pointed out that the US was funding them (the DRC) for their military.
you do not understand what you are talking about - first of all a discussion about a war which is being sponsored by the US in order to annexe a mineral rich part of Congo is very relevant to this topic because it further proves that foreign powers like the US, britain and Israel arm african nations for a reason and for a purpose.

Paddylo has come on here to celebrate the fact that nigeria has these supposed state of the art military hardware without understanding the real reasons behind why nigeria has been allowed to arm itself to this level.  In a bid to try and associate himself with supposed success and invicibility he fails to see the bigger picture.

The IMF may well have decided to cancel Congo's spiralling debt but thats a bit like taking someone who is about to be executed for a three course meal shortly before the execution - america used troops from two african client states - uganda and rwanda as pawns in order to secure a mineral rich part of congo - this led to the genocide of over 3million congolese people but no mainstream western newspaper carries the story - this is why you and paddy lo say that it is unsubstantiated, it is unsubtantiated in your mind because you rely soley on the white man's version of the truth not the real truth.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=12404

by the way the military aid given to the congolese by the US govt is NOT being given to congolese troops to defend themselves from the american proxy troops of uganda or rwanda but, its actually being given to congolese troops LOYAL to the americans who are fighting in COLLABORATION with the ugandan and rwandan troops.

Egypt and Israel recieve $3billion dollars each a yr in military equipment

Whatever collaboration the US army is doing with Nigeria it is anything but major pls. . .

Ps your conspiracy theories are laughable. . .lol
Ignorance is indeed a disease, its funny how you avoided responding to the other issues i highlighted and zoomed in on the fact that nigeria had been allocated only $1.4 million in military aid from the US.

why are you not even asking yourself why the US would be so keen to provide financial aid for defence hardware and training when nigeria has not sorted out its number 1 priority which is to provide adequate housing, employment, education and healthcare for its citizens.

What are the conspiracy theories that you speak of?  Do you understand anything about US foreign policy and its relationship with africa at all?

Is AFRICOM a conspiracy theory as well?

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?aid=18660&context=va

Is america's involvement in the toppling of govts who refuse to open up their countries to the despoil and pillage by the IMF and the world bank a conspiracy theory?

Is america's removal of grassroots leaders who wished to improve the living standards of their people also a conspiracy theory such as - Thoma Sankara, Nkrumah and Lumumba.

You mentioned Israel and Egypt - they are both client states of america who repress and terrorise dissenting groups within and even outside their respective countries. You couldnt even live in either of those countries with any dignity as a black man as you would be placed right at the bottom of their racial hierarchy.

Israel sponsors state terrorism against palestinians and has illegally occupied and annexed palestine, therefore for you to state that america provides the israelis with millions of dollars in military aid you are highlighting the fact that america supports and encourages those practices, perhaps the illegal occupation of palestine by the israelis is a conspiracy theory as well?

PLS Nigeria buys very little equipment from  the USA. . .u must be talking of EGYPT
Nigeria is a major recipient of military aid from the US, this aid actually increased since Obama assumed office:

The clearest indication of President Obama's intentions for AFRICOM (United States African Command) and for America's military involvement in Africa is provided by the budget requests for the 2010 financial year submitted by the Departments of State and Defense to Congress in May 2009. The State Department budget request - which includes funding for all US arms sales, military training, and other security assistance programmes - proposes major increases in funding for US arms sales to a number of African countries through the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme. The budget proposes to increase FMF funding for sub-Saharan African counties more than 300 per cent, from just over US$8.2 million to more than US$25.5 million, with additional increases in funding for Maghrebi countries. Major recipients slated for increases include Chad (US$500,000), the Democratic Republic of Congo (US$2.5 million), Djibouti (US$2.5 million), Ethiopia (US$3 million), Kenya (US$1 million), Liberia (US$9 million), Morocco (US$9 million), Nigeria (US$1.4 million), South Africa (US$800,000) and the Africa Regional Program (US$2.8 million).

AND how many Nigerians have the military killed. . .u must be smoking something in that UK u live
a lot of u guys have stayed out of the country so long u are out of touch with reality and listen to propaganda
. . .

have you forgotten the Odi massacre, how about Zaki Biam, and all other atrocities carried out in the niger delta region in recent times under instructions from the nigerian military.

Nigerians regularly have one communal clash or the other and it is this same military that goes to cool things down
Perhaps u want us to be like congo were the military is so weak,it cannot protect its civilians and 5 Foriegn armys invade it,loot and kill its citizens
for your information the war being fought in the congo is a proxy war in which americans are using rwandan and ugandan troops to fight the congolese on their (america's) behalf, the americans are trying to take over control of the minefields and they are using african troops to do their dirty work for them, much the same way they used nigerian "peace keeping" troops to secure war torn sierra leone and liberia.

U talk of UN. . .or NATO. . .How are they faring in Afghanistan or Iraq. . pls u are bringing emotions to this
I think they are doing quite well if you ask me, they have occupied a soveriegn nation and they remain there to date despite widespread antagonism from the indigenous people.

and before u slander the NIGERIAN MILITARY on JOS know that without them being there the animals there will still be killing themselves
so why did they stand down when they knew that a massacre was imminent?

u cannot blame peacekeepers for conflict
and if the peacekeepers have one or 2 bad eggs(alledgedly),then improve the training logistics, equipment and pay
not rubbish them like u are doing here
they are not peace keepers - they are merely servants of the west fighting proxy wars on behalf of their masters

Its funny u hide in the UK behind a strong military, but you dont wish the same for nigerians
.

the nigerian military is not protecting its citizens,  as i said earlier its main objective is to repress and terrorise its own people, that is why america and britain sell nigeria millions of dollars worth of arms, the arms business is one of the most lucrative businesses in the world, it is a guaranteed money spinner and many foreign businesses make money through arms sales and fomenting of wars all over the world - you seem to be under the naive impression that the nigerian military is there to defend the territorial integrity of the nation, Nigeria is a client state of america and britain and it buys arms in order to protect itself from the masses, not to protect the masses of the country, in other words those arms are used to prevent any revolutionary overthrow of the current bunch of bloodsucking crooks that are currently in power.

I advise u to stop visiting this page if u have nothing better to say. . .rubbish
You are going to have to learn to accept the truth, stop hiding behind these pictures and face up to the  reality of the fact that your own govt couldnt care less about its people, it merely buys these arms in order to prevent the ordinary nigerian man from rising up and trying to remove them from power.

NubianQ:
@Cap28, i must say, you are very intelligent, i am impressed.

Britain never goes back in history to even realise they caused alot of things on themselves. if a briton goes to africa he is a visitor but if an african come to england he gets the migrant thing rubbed in his face. if only africa was better, SMH
thanks nubianQ, britain and north america were able to become the superpowers that they are today on the back of african slave labour, they continue to exploit africa but they cleverly distort the truth to make it look as if they are our saviours, the more you educate yourself about your past the more you will discover the truth.

The military Govts of yrs past neglected our armed forces so there had to be spending to catch up. . . .

Also no serious country on earth leaves its internal/external security needs unmet because it has not eradicated poverty
whether its india,pakistan or usa

In the recent jos crises when innocent Nigerians were killed, its the same military that returned the area to normal for the good life of all citizens

If u think anarchy is best, then pls go study the Sierra leone and Liberian wars, the unnecessary sufferings all because the central Govt could not confront some rag tag rebels
mind u its the so-called common man that was despoiled, killed arms chopped off and so on. . .

A strong military is good for Nigeria. . .period
catch up and do what? you are celebrating the huge expenditure that the nigerian govt has made on military hardware without being able to feed and provide for its own citizens, what kind of warped mentality is that?, nigeria even with all these second hand planes, ships guns etc CANNOT PREVENT AN ATTACK FROM NATO OR THE UN so what is the big deal here.

I will repeat what i said earlier nigeria is being armed to the teeth by way of US military aid in order TO REPRESS AND KILL ITS OWN PEOPLE- how admirable is that?

I cant beleive that you had the nerve to mention Jos, was it not the same nigerian military who stood down and allowed the massacre of innocent men, women and children, by an unknown group of fulanis,a nigerian army officer was well aware of the impending massacre that was about to take place but DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP IT.

Of course anarchy isnt best but nigeria is currently in a stage of controlled anarchy, but i agree with what you said about liberia and sierra leone disintegrating into anarchy.

The thing so many people have failed to acknowledge is that immigration of people from africa and  the indian sub continent has been triggered by britain's exploitation of those countries, britain exploited india to the extent that they caused widespread famine and drought on vast tracts of Indian farmland, the land which was previously used for farming by indigenous farmers  was appropriated by the british colonialists and used to grow cash crops for export to europe, africa was and continues to be exploited by britain, immigration from those two continents arose as a direct result of poverty and unemployment amongst the people in those countries, which was caused by colonial exploitation.

Britain has reaped so many benefits from immigration -it has utilised the cheap labour from africa and asia without making any contribution towards the welfare of immigrants to this country.  Don't take my word for it, read about how immigration built the wealth of britain,

http://pubs.socialistreviewindex.org.uk/isj68/brown.htm

Now that immigrants are surplus to requirements of the british economy ie since the decline of the british economy (circa 1970's to date) immigration to this country by non white people is seen as a problem but in the 1950's and 60's immigration was seen as a necessity for the rebuilding of britain.

Please note that immigration and permanent settlement/residence of whites ie south africans, americans, canadians, australians, new zealanders is still ongoing provided one can prove a patrilineal link to the UK ie that a grand parent on your father's side of the family was born in the  UK (which of course excludes all non whites)
People please be aware that the elite british establishment (the ruling classes) use and dump non whites at will.  They use non whites when they are desperate and as soon as they have gotten everything they need they dump us.

Its time for us to open our eyes and wise up to the fact that we  are being played - they use us when it suits them to build up their economies, then when we are no longer of any use to them they abandon us.

Your quip about Nigerias Navy deteriorating since 2001,shows u absolutely know nothing about Nigeria or its military

The last 10yrs of democratic rule has been the best for the military in terms of new equipment, training, professionalism, and a real boost in military spending

Obasanjo our former leader in 2006 alone spent over $4billion on new military hardware, ships, tanks and other stuff because of the Niger delta
yes but why spend so much money on military hardware when the govt has not even provided basic amenities to its people

also you should ask yourself why the nigerian govt invests so much in arms procurement, is nigeria at war with anyone?

could it be that these arms are purchased in order to repress any potential uprisings and ensure that the current crooks perpetuate themselves in power?

Politics › Re: Uk Moves To Stem Immigration by cap28: 12:54am On Jun 30, 2010
this cap on non EU immigration is in my view a diversion away from the real issues which the coalition libcon govt do not want to focus on.

Immigrants have long been used as scape goats by the UK govt in order to pacify far right racist groups, politicians in this country often play the immigration card when they are in dire straits and they need to find a whipping boy to take the rap for any unpopular economic policies, at the moment the british govt are implementing some of the most draconian austerity measures that this country has ever witnessed and they know that in order to get away with imposing so much hardship on their people they must find a scape goat to blame for their mistakes, in this instance its immigrants, they claim that they need to place a cap on non EU immigration as britain is already overcrowded and its public services are at breaking point, but the question is non EU immigration is not where the bulk of britain's immigrants come from, the bulk of britain's immigrants come from the EU and as kidonig correctly stated all citizens of EU member states are entitled to move freely without restrictions within the EU.

Contrary to the falsehoods churned out by the daily mail and the sun britain is not being swamped by illegal immigrants, in fact in the last 5 years more people left britain than those seeking entry.

The immigrants who do come to britain are mainly engaged in low paid work minimum wage jobs and are usually ruthlessly exploited by employers.
During the height of Britain's so called influx of immigrants - the majority came from eastern europe and not africa or asia as the immigration restrictions imposed on non EU applicants were so stringent as to disqualify immigration from those continents.

Also Britain's points based immigration system only allows in highly skilled workers from non EU countries giving work permits to high skilled workers where no british person is able to fill the position and these sort of work permits have been granted mainly to people from Asia and Australia.

consider this excerpt from a british publication:

A report by the London School of Economics shows that the UK has a lower share of immigrants in its population (10.2 percent) than Australia (25 percent), the US (13.6 percent), Sweden (13.6 percent), Germany (12.9 percent) and the Netherlands (10.7 percent). They come from a more diverse range of countries than ever before, most frequently Poland, India, Pakistan, South Africa and the US. They tend to be younger and better educated than the UK-born population and the more recent immigrants are even better educated.

Also:

The number of asylum seekers and refugees is small. In 2007, according to Home Office figures, there were 23,430 asylum applications, mostly from the war-torn regions of the world: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Turkey, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Iraq and Sri Lanka. Including dependents, there were just 27,900 asylum seekers. As most are young men without dependents, they are not eligible for social housing under Labour’s 1999 Immigration and Asylum Act.

Asylum seekers face almost insurmountable hurdles to defend their right to stay. Of those who received an initial decision on their asylum application in 2007, just 16 percent were granted refugee status. Eleven percent were given humanitarian protection or discretionary leave to stay, while 73 percent were refused. Just 23 percent of those who appealed a decision were successful.

After an application is rejected, the Home Office suspends all financial assistance, usually within 21 days, and then issues a removal order. The failed asylum seekers can then be seized by the UK Border Agency police without notice and incarcerated pending deportation. According to the National Coalition of Anti-Deportation Campaigns, at least 55 asylum seekers have taken their own lives since 2000 rather than go back to their own countries.

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/apr2010/imst-a24.shtml

So i think it is safe to say that britain's supposed immigration problem is one which has been manufactured by the british media in collaboration with the british establishment in order to incite racial hatred and stoke the flames of xenophobia and antagonism towards mainly non white people in this country.
