ballabriggs: Fact is we have resources but we don't make use of our resources. One very critical resource we have, that easily comes to my mind and we don't use, is time. It is an intangible resource and to that extent the value is easily forgotten. You here them say, "African time". Like seriously, what the fvck is that. You go to a party that is meant to start at 3pm by 3pm in naija and you are seen as a hungry man, "long throat", "na you wan help them start the party". You are seen as wrong even though you are right.

We have not gotten the basics right, our value system has been eroded. We attach more value to intangibles rather than tangible things. Nigerians think once you throw money at any problem, you get a solution. Money is only one of the resources needed for growth as there are many more with bigger impacts

I tell you what, what makes Britain is not Heathrow Airport, it is not Buckingham Palace, it is not the buildings at Canary Wharf. It is the fact that they are better organised. These things are intangible but have the biggest impact on development.
You missed out one very important fact about Britain - all of their wealth is stolen - from Africa - did you know that?

Anyway, I have a simple solution that is guaranteed to make Naija a better place. That solution is to unban corruption in the country, specifically stealing from govt coffers. surely if they can come to your country to live like kings, you are entitled to go to their country to try and make a living, by the way most Nigerians who leave Nigeria for the UK do not enjoy the same standard of living as the british who live in Nigeria no matter their level of education.

One thing I have come to learn the European countries do not like themselves but when it comes to uniting to stand against other continents they do so seamlessly but we Naija all we do is fight (Tribal, religion) we cannot even be united as a nation
Your govts are working for Europe and America they will never champion the interests of the Nigerian masses - they are all bought and paid for by their masters in London and Washington, you think Okonjo Iweala gives a shi.t about the average Nigerian who has to leave the country in order to be able to feed his family? You think Badluck Jonathan cares whether you live or die, you only have to look at Governor Fashola's treatement of the people of Makoko who are Yoruba like himself and then you will know that the Nigerian elite are the most worthless set of scum ever known to man, infact the Nigerian elite are known all over the world not just for being the world's most inept leaders but for being the most callous and cold hearted - a group of leaders who feel absolutely zero empathy for their own people - no safety nets for the poor, no decent healthcare for the masses, no decent educational system, why? because the current decay does not affect them or their families, all their children are educated abroad and when they are sick they shamelessly fly abroad to be treated in foreign hospital, all their money is stashed away in foreign banks with the assistance and collaboration of their European and American partners in crime.

ballabriggs: Nigerians say the UK is finished yet they flock to one of the worst tourist destinations.

I see people going to the UK for tourism as mugus, why waste your money when there are better destinations?

The other funny thing is Nigerians saying the "country is finished". A country with the assets the UK has cannot be finished. Their situation is not even quarter as bad as it is for Nigerians yet they moan daily about their economy, they moan about their politics, they ask questions about their cities, you have debates on critical issues.

On the topic, I find it immoral to ask students to provide bonds for visas. I know elections are heating up and Mr Cameron is trying real hard to get into the hearts of the rightists who are worried about growing immigration. However, there should still be some decency in his policies.
Tell that to the marines - it may be a terrible tourist destination for Nigerians but come to London and see the number of Japanese, American, French, Italian, south Africans(white), austrialians who flock to London - why? because they have money to burn on travelling just for the fun of it, a luxury the vast number of Nigerians will never be able to afford.

The UK economy can not be finished as long as st.upid Africans and Nigerians in particular continue to allow shell bp to call the shots in Nigeria.

Why did the west hate Chavez so much? because he called the shots when it came to the running of the Venezuelan oil industry - something no Nigerian coward leader will ever dream of doing - Chavez insisted that the oil revenues must be used for the benefit of the Venezuelan people not for the benefit of european and American multinationals and banks.
Until Nigeria gets such a leader there is no hope for Nigeria.

You talk about decency in Cameron's policies - the word decent and politics do not go together and should not be used in the same sentence. politics is about lies, subterfuge and deception.

Cameron is playing the race/immigration card because it never fails as a vote winner - the average british person does not like black people and will blame a black person for anything that is not going well in their life , that is why immigration is a hot topic now, Cameron and his cronies are hell bent on pushing through some of the most draconian austerity measures that this country has ever known but they cant do it unless they can convince the british people that someone else is to blame for the current economic problems in the country - enter the race/immigration card - this card never fails to get politicians elected and Cameron is using it to full effect now.

what do the following all have in common? OBJ , IBB, Badluck Jonathan, Okonjo Iweala,

answer: they have all at some point in time collaborated with European and American banks to keep Nigeria neck deep in deb thereby ensuring that Nigeria's wealth is never used to benefit the Nigerian people but instead used to benefit Europe and America.

Chinom: Escape which 'poverty'. this 3000 pds was introduced for people like you. You have a very pathetic mindset. No sane person leaves Nigeria to the UK to " Escape poverty".Those who do that were already poor in Nigeria or just plain greedy. They wanted MORE.
Note that i mean those Nigerians who obtain a 3 months visitors visa only to disappear in the UK. Some Students too.
First of all the £3K doesn't apply to me because I have dual nationality (british and Nigerian) and hold two passports.

Why is my mindset pathetic? is it because you hate being told that you are poor?

99.99 % of Nigerians who leave Nigeria do so because they are poor and are looking for a better life abroad - no one who is well off leaves his country of origin to go and clean toilets, work as a waiter or sweep the streets in a foreign land if they are even moderately comfortable back home - please be aware that poverty is relative, what you may consider to be good living in Nigeria is likely to be termed poverty in the west.
The fact that less than 1% of the population live well does not cancel out the fact that the other 99% are struggling to live like human beings if you do not have access to the most basic human necessities of life which over 80% of Nigerians do not - you are poor .

the british govt are responsible for keeping over 80% of nigerians in poverty - they have got Nigeria neck deep in debt, the money their banks make from the interest generated from these loans alone is what they are using to prop up their welfare state and provide a decent standard of livng for their own people while the vast majority of Nigerians live in poverty as if that isn't bad enough they now expect those who want to escape this poverty to part with a whopping £3,000 - how many average british people can afford to part with £3,000 for a visa?

Hoodrat: You cannot destroy slavery by becoming a part of your Master’s cultural incubator." - John Henrik Clarke

Today is African Liberation Day, but why are we celebrating? We are not free yet, we are still slaves and we don't even know it. We are economically, politically and mentally colonized. We export raw materials and agriculture, then we import finished goods just like colonialism. We import most of our products, many big industries are controlled by foreigners. We accept all these foreign aid and loans to make us debt slaves. We rely on foreign contractors to build everything for us. We value everything foreign. We cannot unite, there is tribalism. Global Africans are continually demonized and marginalized everywhere in the world. We don't control our media, so we are represented poorly in the media. We have the worst Human Development Index in the world. Many of us are illiterate and don't live too long. We only speak our colonizers languages such as English, French and Arabic. African nations are now trying to introduce Chinese in classes even though our languages are dying out. We have high maternity deaths, high infancy deaths. Our best doctors and minds move to foreign countries to develop them while our continent deteriorates. This is just like slavery. Most of us don't know our great history, we only know that we were slaves and colonized. African culture, languages, religions, clothes and names are dying. We still have self hatred and inferiority complex. We cannot work together. We still fight in proxy wars funded by foreign forces that allow other countries to benefit from our resources. Our resources are still coming from the ground to fund other countries while ours are poor. We are pawns for other country's foreign policy. There are more foreign troops in Africa than during colonialism. AFRICOM is coming to Africa to kick out the Chinese and and secure investments, mines and African resources. But we won't discuss real issues we only discuss things that don't matter like celebrity gossip and European/American sports leagues. And when we discuss real issues people label it as conspiracy theories. We are still neo-colonized and our government is controlled by foreigners. They serve to keep the entire country as permanent cheap labor source, cheap resources and a consumer market. We still have the ICC only putting Africans in jail. These bad International Monetary Fund, World Bank Loans and the World Trade Organization are not serving our interests. The United Nations peace keeping troops do nothing for Africa and actually causing more damage. The colonial Pact makes Francophone African countries slaves to France. So, I am NOT celebrating African Liberation Day. I will not celebrate this until we are free from mental, political, and economic slavery/colonization. We must control our own economies and produce what we consume. Love our own products, services and businesses. Go to tourism in our own countries. Build our own institutions instead of going to other ones. Work together worldwide in Pan Africanism. Working together for the uplift of ourselves.

Pan Africa' leaders and the African Union MUST NOT BE AFRAID to unite as one nation and declare themselves a United States of Africa. Imperialist are not helping any African but rather furthering their own agendas."

Racism denies people's access to life, liberty, to the pursue of happiness, to proper education, to control over their own resources etc.

Al Jazeera aka british intelligence services MI6:

Al Jazeera Satellite Channel Ltd has its offices right in the middle of the center of the City of London, very close to the House of Parliament and Westminster - and just next door to Vauxhall Cross and Albert Embankment where MI 6 has its "Legoland" or "Babylon on the Thames" headquarters.

Small world, isn't it?

Isn't that just a little odd for an Arabic channel from the Middle East?

Of course Qatar, Al Jazeera's home base of record, has been a British protectorate since 1916. Britain has defended and controlled Qatar ever since.

Here is Al Jazeera's official address:

Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel Ltd
Westminster Tower, 3, Albert Embankment, London,
SE1 7SL Tel: 020 7820 4820
Classification: Broadcasting Services

From the map below you can see just how close Al Jazeera is (yellow X) from Vauxhall Cross on the Albert Embankment. That is where British Intelligence has its headquarters.

How close; how convenient.

How utterly FAKE.

No nation in this world ever achieves greatness without removing the shackles of oppression , nigeria is still an imperialist construct right down to its name: nigger area. a convenient contraption formed for the benefit of the british empire in order to facilitate the ongoing industrial scale ra.pe and pillage of our natural resources by stinking collaborating slaves and european predators. There is no difference between nigeria's current leaders and the nigerian kings and chiefs who collaborated with european slave traders in the human tragedy that led to the mass kidnapping and sale of our african ancestors.

Watching this clip was painful viewing for me as it brought home to me just how powerless we as african people really are.

Let's start with the medium that was used - al jazeera - known as a propaganda media outlet and mouth piece of the western world but hiding under the facade of an independent pro arab news outlet, have you noticed how so many former bbc reporters and journalists now work for al jazeera - whats that all about? If you dig a little deeper you will find that the owner is a western puppet who works hand in hand with the united states and british intelligence services , this is why i do not watch anything on that station, but i digress, take a look at the presenter of this show - Femi Oke - aside from being nigerian what qualifies this woman to present a show discussing issues of this level of seriousness, the last time i checked she used to be a weather girl on itv - i therefore do not understand why she was chosen along with some random african american woman to present a programme discussing serious issues affecting the national security of a sovereign state. Could it be that the powers that be at al jazeera (MI6) couldnt care less who presented the programme as long as they were black?

Can a nigerian present a discussion show about serious issues affecting african americans? We know very well that no black person is never allowed to present serious discussion shows about any issue that affects western nations.

I think this programme demonstates the level of disrespect that al jazeera has for nigeria and nigerians, to chose Femi Oke as the presenter of such a programme, debating serious issues like this says it all, her knowledge and understanding of the issues under discussion indicated to me that she would be much better off presenting something on one of the numerous music channels that continuously show case black people as performing clowns (BET, BEN, OH TV, hello naija! ad nauseam).

Lets take a look at the so called guests on the show - Omoleye Sowore - i actually like this guy as i beleive he is a genuine social campaigner whose heart is in the right place, he also made a lot of sacrifices for nigeria as a young student of unilag and narrowly escaped being murdered by the nigerian security services, this therefore begs the question what the hell is he doing on al jazeera , i mean if i am aware of the fact that al jazeera is just another mouthpiece of western propaganda, surely Sowore who is a very intelligent man must know this as well- surely he must know that he is not going to get very far talking about the corruption of nigerian politicians when the entire nigerian govt are in the pocket of the corrupt western nations and their equally corrupt media outlets - surely he must know that news outlets like al jazeera are merely channels that are used to further misinform and brainwash the already gullible nigerian populace ?- this therefore raises the quite pertinent question - who is Sowore actually working for and who's side is he really on?

This is why i believe that Wole Soyinka is either on the payroll of the CIA /MI6 and is paid to divert the minds of nigerians into thinking that boko haram is a religious group of unhinged fanatics when it is very obvious to any intelligent mind that boko haram like al qaeda is a creation of US intelligence. The US govt have a vested interest in keeping nigeria in a state of chaos - and it is all to do with china's ongoing role in not only nigeria but africa as a whole, Soyinka is no fool and must know this. For some reason which i beleive is monetary Soyinka continues to mislead and deceive the nigerian public - doesnt Soyinka know how al qaeda was created? if he knows this then he must equally know that the US are also capable of creating boko haram but he deliberately steers clear of this angle preferring instead to talk about how boko haram is linked to al qaeda without telling us who actually created al qaeda.

Soyinka knows the truth but he will never admit it publicly because to do so will mean that he will be ostracised by both the US power structure who pay his bills and the nigerian elite who have refrained from eliminating him.

lets take a look at the other rented negroes - Yvonne Ndege - who has been hired by al jazeera to disseminate disinformation about boko haram to gullible nigerians - isnt it strange how she is able to have access to leading boko haram spokesmen and obtain the inside story on what is going on and yet the nigerian govt mysteriously are still unable to end their reign of terror over the whole of northern nigeria.

and finally you have the usual dim witted nigerian politician - doyin okupe - low on intelligence and high on bufoonery - making empty conflicting statements about how to deal with the scourge of boko haram - he actually said that you come down hard on them and then negotiate with them - i wonder whetehr he rehearsed what he was supposed to be saying on camera before going live, you could see his heart wasnt even in the discussion -his mind was far away on bigger and more important things like his next oil block purchase.

I really do pity the young generation of nigerians coming up because they are goign to inherit one hell of a terrible legacy from these losers.

revolution is the only way out - the europeans know that as long as nigeria is run by the current crop of rented negroes they have nothign to worry about as far as africa is concerned, i think if a revolution happens in africa it will start from either ivory coast or zimbabwe - all other africans are now in a state of advanced sedation.

You'd have to thank the European propaganda and its skewed definition of "beauty" where it feels a heavily-freckled, bone-faced, flat-assed stick figure is what the world should slurp up as a "damsel".

[b]Are white women beautiful or is it society that makes them seem so?
Tue 19 Oct 2010 by abagond

Sophen Loren
White women seem more beautiful than they are. Even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, many things point to a shift among beholders worldwide towards an idea of female beauty that is light-skinned, thin and more European looking.

That shift goes hand-in-hand with Westernization. East Asia and Black America are good examples:

East Asia: Double eyelid surgery has spread hand-in-hand with Westernization. So has a Eurasian idea of beauty. But not women lightening their skin: that goes back to the old days when only the well-to-do did not have to work in the fields.

Black America:

Hair: Black women had little desire to straighten their hair till they came to America – it certainly was not common in the West Africa that most of them came from. Instead it came from copying blacks in the 1800s who were better off. These better-off blacks had generally straighter hair for the same reason that they were better off: they had white blood relations.
Body shape: Black women who go to white universities favour a thinner sort of beauty than those who go to black universities.
Skin colour: Light-skinned women are generally considered to be better looking. The same is true in the cities of West Africa, yet far from the cities where people are less Westernized, skin colour seems to matter much less.
These changes make white women seem better looking than they would otherwise be.

Some of the beauty of white women is natural but some of it comes from looking at them through the white lens of Westernization.

People of colour apply that white lens to themselves too: it is what makes some think their their hair is not pretty, their nose is too wide, their skin too dark, their lips too big, their eyes all wrong or whatever it is that sets them apart from white people.

The power of white people to shape the world’s ideas of female beauty is clearly shown in the death of the hourglass figure.

In the 1960s Playboy models and Hollywood beauties had hourglass figures. Think of Raquel Welch, Brigitte Bardot or Sophia Loren. Then in 1967 came Twiggy. Back then even white people thought she was too thin and dangerously underfed. But fashion designers loved her: it was so much easier to design great-looking clothes for her kind of body. So the fashion industry shifted towards rail-thin models.

By the late 1970s anorexia appeared among White American girls. By 1979 Hollywood could call Bo Derek a “10″ despite her lack of what used to be called a full figure. In America even Playboy rarely shows women with an hourglass figure anymore.

So now thin is considered beautiful among whites generally in both Europe and North America. It is spreading to East Asia and seems to be spreading to Black America too. Anorexia has reached even Nigeria. All this has taken place within living memory.
