God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of Nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the 'beginning'." "Oh, is that so? Tell me, " replies God. "Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the Likeness of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man." "Well, that's interesting. Show Me." So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil. "Oh no, no, no, " interrupts God, "Get your own dirt." |
"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder,' and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you are thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny. Matthew 5:21-26 Also, Ephesians 4:26-28 and Colossians 3:7-9 |
@ify: When someone is forgiven, you're not saying to them that what they did was right, you're not endorsing their behavior. You're releasing yourself from the weight and baggage of unloving emotions. You're giving yourself the freedom to live a life based on love and love only. |

Prayer for Anxious People Father, I pray for (name one or more) and others in my circle of family and friends who are carrying heavy loads, Your Word says an anxious heart weighs a person down, and this is how I think they must feel—as if they're carrying heavy loads, more than they can bear. When they feel upset and beside themselves, calm them down and comfort them with the assurance of Your love. Help them not be overwhelmed by anxious thoughts. (Proverbs 12:25a; Psalm 94:19) Our hearts are not supposed to be troubled; but that's their struggle—help them trust You and the Lord Jesus, as I know they must. Help them understand that You are the One who makes a way when things seem impossible; nothing is too hard for You! (John 14:27; Isaiah 43:19; Jeremiah 32:17; Luke 1:37) Help them be faithful to You and to the way You want them to live, for You guard the lives of those who are faithful; You protect them and never turn away from them. Help them know You as their fortress, as the rock in whom they take refuge, as One who is good, whose love endures forever, whose faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 97:10; Proverbs 2:8; Psalm 37:28; 94:22; 100:5) In Jesus' name, amen. - Jim & Kaye Johns |
Yes, I agree with you. As I got older I realize the healing effects of forgiveness; both for the one forgiving and the forgiven. This parable just shows us how great and infinite His Love is for all of us. Peace
Ure welcome! ![]() Yes, the father is like God, in the sense that God is always ready to welcome us back 1John 1:8-9 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. The father in the parable threw a feast for the prodigal son. Similarly, Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. The father in the parable loved his son in spite of everything he had done; before and after he rebelled. Similarly, Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
|

One of my favourite after dinner desserts is a banana fritter covered in tasty golden syrup Enjoy Banana Fritters Ingredients: 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 2/3 cup milk 1 egg 3 bananas, mashed and sprinkled with 1 teaspoon lemon juice to keep from discoloring oil for deep frying confectioners' sugar Preparation: Measure, sift and mix all dry ingredients. Whisk together the milk and egg; add to dry ingredients. Fold in the mashed bananas. If too thick add a little milk, and if batter seems too thin, add flour. Batter should have consistency to mound up in a spoon. Heat deep fryer to about 375° or add 1 inch of oil to a deep skillet or kettle and use a deep fryer thermometer to check tempperature. When fritters will cook in 5 minutes, the oil is ready. Drop by spoonfuls in small batches. As fritters brown on one side turn. Drain on paper towels. Keep warm and just before serving sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. Serve warm with syrup, if desired. Serves 10 to 15. http://southernfood.about.com/od/doughnutsandfritters/r/bl90626d.htm |

Jesus was babtized in the River Jordan. However, the bible does not specify the mode (how we should be baptized). And being baptized in water is not what saves us from our sins. But it is a Great sign for other's of becoming a Christian. |
I was amazed to discover the truths found in this parable of what happened to the younger son as God changes us. I hope you would enjoy it as much as I have puzzled through it (see link below). Question: - Do you think the father in the parable is Our Father in Heaven http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2015:11-32 |

A Gift For Mother Three sons left home, went out on their own and prospered. One day they met up and discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother. The first said, "I built a big house for our mother." The second said, "I sent her a Mercedes with a driver." The third smiled and said, "I've got you both beat. You remember how Mom enjoyed reading the Bible? And you know she can't see very well any more. I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took elders in the church 12 years to teach him. He's one of a kind. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot recites it." Soon thereafter, the mother sent out her letters of thanks: "Milton," she wrote one son, "the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house." "Gerald," she wrote to another, "I am too old to travel any more. I spend most of the time at home, so I rarely use the Mercedes. And the driver is so rude!" "Dearest Donald," she wrote to her third son, "you have the good sense to know what your mother likes. The chicken was delicious!" |
