I must confess i love your writeup however you should understand not everyone can be an entrepreneur and the fact that you're an entrepreneur doesn't mean you can't support this move. As a person right from my undergraduate days i've said i'm never gonna write application to anyone but rather be an entrepreneur yet i'm still in support of this cause. And one thing my brother if you'll want to be sincere an average entrepreneur didn't make such decision as mine of being an entrepreneur but were compelled to that because of no job. Let us face the fact government has failed drastically. Even in developed countries there is benefit for unemployed, simply because they value their youths. Talk is cheap you call for being entrepreneurship. Do you have statistic of small and medium scale businesses folding up everyday because there is no enabling environment. Why're even the big and established companies running to Ghana all because energy which an average business needs to survive is total failure here. Pls let face the truth and tell the government they are not performing rman: The problem with Nigerians is we think having certificates should guarantee at least a level of success in life. This is only true if you open your mind to the opportunities around you and you can add value or create something of value. Unfortunately, all the young lads that made new money in the last 25yrs are not graduates. Bill Gates, Zuckerberg etc are not graduates, they created something of value and the rest became history. But we have been so programmed to throw certificates at everything. Another issue is some graduates can not really add value because what they studied is not really what the immediate society needs, so they become disappointed after school, when the easy life expected by acquiring a certificate becomes a mirage. |
For those who do not understand. When the Arab spring was to start, it started on social networks however this is not going to be like the Arab spring because this association is will not tow the path of violence. For those saying after getting unemployed why continue staying in the association. The meeting is where the name will be changed this is just to catch attention of all those concerned. It'll rather be something...Against Unemployment which will make it open for every Nigerian[entrepreneur.employed, rich or poor ] who wants to kick against unemployment now and for generations unborn to join. What you people should understand is that this is not just unemployment fight but equally industrial revolution as its one of the key to solving unemployment. God bless Nigeria. |
Wow is this that the website. Its nice as for me but since there're lot of us here let others talk about it too |
chronique: Well,in my case,I was more of an extrovert when I was much younger but as I grew older,I became an introvert and I like it that way. Nobody comes to my house to visit anyhow and if you must see me,you must call to say you're coming. You can be at my gate and knock all day and I won't answer you if I'm not expecting you. When you're tired, you'd go to your house. I hardly visit people and I love having my space. Moreover,I love being indoors and it hardly bores me. So long as I have internet access 24/7,I'm ok. I'd just spend my time reading stuffs online.you're just describing me. I so much hate being visited i prefer visiting you instead. All thru my stay in d Uni i can say out of about 75 of us in my dept i've only one person i'm close to, a female which makes others think something is going on between us whereas there's nothing.. A guy walked up to me when we're about rounding off the final session in school and said i never knew we're in d same dept up until last session. I just smiled in return and said yes we're. Another said to me one day "you're the most gentle guy in this dept" |
Well said Ehixking. This is only but a forum and while it serves well in the function of bringing us all together it can't sustain the momentum without physical actions and steps. Together we can make Nigeria a better place. |
Demdem:bros for the bolded part i no sure say you know wetn you de talk. For every weaponry US has Russia has just with the difference that the russians make sure their is a little superior to that of US. I once read that both countries have one highly stealth submarine each with nuclear armament capable of wiping out each country totally as in should in case US give d order for the total reduction of russia to dust, then the russian sub will just do the same thing and only the two subs and crews will be left of the two nations. |

koolet: Despite my hard heart, dys story seems So touching... Datz wat we call braveryseriously its a very touching story. I wish i'm rich as Dangote and the likes, i'll gladly foot all his medical bills and canvass for a national award for him. And contrary to many people's opinion here is an African precisely a Nigerian who risked his life not even for his own baby but a neighbour's baby. Don't know if Mr Seun Osewa could set up a fund for willingly people to donate to this guy here on NL |
Person wey de battle for survival na im get time tell una all dis tory?
bros read the story well now |
After helping to free a 16-month old baby trapped in a fire in Makurdi, a Good Samaritan – Michael – is now battling for survival at the intensive care unit of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH). When Michael Anthony, 27, braved the odds and dived into a raging fire penultimate Tuesday night, he had only one aim – to free a 16-month old baby that was trapped in the inferno. In the end, he succeeded in removing the baby from harm’s way. But Michael is now battling to remain alive after sustaining first and third degree burns in the process. Writhing in excruciating pain when Weekly Trust visited him at the Intensive Care Unit, Ward 1, of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Michael summoned strength to explain how the incident happened at their residence at Owner Occupier Estate situated along Chief Abu King Shuluwa road. “I had just returned from work on the fateful day at about 9pm when we (my parents and siblings) started hearing the continued cry of a baby. Initially, we had thought that our neighbour was beating her child but when the cry was becoming unbearable for us, we all ran outside our house, only to discover that our neighbour’s flat was on fire. “By this time, the entire sitting room was already up in flames. There was absolutely nothing anyone could do if the baby must be rescued, except to brave the odds. “I just couldn’t stand there doing nothing and wait till the baby dies. So, I tried to assist the little boy as I paved my way into the bedroom where he was and threw him out from the window”, he explained. Michael, an electrician said though he got badly burnt in his bid to save the child, “I’m grateful however that the attempt was successful. I don’t in any way regret my actions”, he stressed. On the part of his 61-year-old father, Anthony Anthony, there is no cause for regret since his son was suffering for a good cause. He said, “I am very happy for what my son did. We all ran out of the house that fateful night but I did not know when Michael meandered his way into the burning apartment. “He was with us and other neighbours as we tried in vain to break through the window to rescue the child. The fire was such that had overtaken the parlour, which is the only exit and entrance into the apartment. Before I realized what was happening, my son was already inside the apartment. He rescued the child through the window but the space could not contain his frame for escape. “So, he had to stagger through the fire and eventually, God helped him out. I’m surprised how he found his way out but I give God praise in all things. That was how we immediately rushed him to the hospital,” he said. Anthony, a trader who had lived in Makurdi for the past 38 years, appealed to both state and federal government as well as good spirited individuals to help Michael access quality treatment as the financial burden is gradually becoming unbearable for the family. Similarly, the victim has also appealed for kind hearted donations to cater for his hospital needs. He expressed joy that his action were premised on the word of God often preached by his pastor, adding that, “whatever the case, my joy and prayer is for us to make heaven at last”. Meanwhile, the fortunate baby’s mother, Mrs. Shiminenge Terfa, said that she had gone to a pharmacy shop within the area at about 8pm leaving her four children indoors when the incident occurred. She only later discovered that soon after her exit from the house, the entire building went up in flames with her children trapped in her apartment. She explained that while the other three children were promptly saved by neighbours, the little baby boy, Saanmoyol Terfa, was forgotten in the room which at the time was already engulfed with fire. However, the shrieking cry of the baby alerted the neighbours who were helpless about the situation as at the time because the flames became too daring for anyone to contemplate an attempt to save the child. But Michael, according to her, a native of Enugu State, who just couldn’t bear the crying infant, braved his way into the burning fire and bundled out the baby. The young Igbo man, according to medical estimation, sustained a third degree burns for his act of bravery. He is now lying critically ill as doctors are battling to save his life, even as the baby he rescued has since been discharged from the same hospital. Michael’s elder brother Charles, who was not at home when the incident happened, commended his brother for the bravery and also appealed to government at all levels, corporate organisations including well meaning Nigerians to help his brother live by lending financial assistance for his treatment. Charles, however, commended the Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources, Conrad Wergba, who visited the hospital and extended financial help to his brother’s treatment. A doctor who declined to give his name noted that Michael sustained mixed burns with first degree burns in some areas and third degree burns in other parts of his body. He assured that by divine intervention, coupled with adequate money for medication, the Good Samaritan’s life would be spared. NE observed at the time of visit, five medical personnel attending to the victim on his sick bed. One of them expressed gratitude that the young man who is now being referred to as, “angel Michael” within the hospital vicinity is responding to treatment. “Though, he sustained a first degree burns, he is responding to treatment. He is better now than when he first came in. We appeal to good people to help him financially in order to sustain treatment”, the personnel added. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2013/08/man-battles-to-survive-after-rescuing.html |
ehixking: Call me, please...07030717445alright bro. Expect my call by monday or tomorrow. But most likely it going to be monday. |
Ehixking please let me know if someone is already working on the association website cos i sent you an email requesting for article content the site will have since you're the brain behind everything but i didn't get any response from you. About the name i support the suggestion of National Graduate Movement against Unemployment. Since the major locations being debated are Lagos and Ibadan is it not possible the meeting takes place in the two city simultaneously. I think that would even send out a strong message of solidarity everywhere. |
Ehixking i sent you an email regarding the association website but i got no response. |
www.nigerianeye.com/2013/08/the-nationality-question-by-femi-fani.html?m=1 The article is very long and being that i made this post from my phone i can't copy and paste it here. Someone can pls do for me. In summary he talks about we having to acknowledge our differences as a multi ethnic nation and understand them rather than hypocritically sweeping them under the carpet as if they never exist and fashion a way to live peaceably with them. Let me point out that although i'm a Yoruba guy however from the start of the issue of Femi Falana Ibo-Yoruba issue. I saw him as an ethnic bigot but this one article makes me think otherwise of him. However i do not dispute the fact that he may have an ulterior motive though and just using the article as a propaganda |
I'm just wondering if we can use the name Nigerian Union of Unemployed and Employed Graduates. This way every elite youth can be carried along. What do you think? |

Its obvious a formidable movement is springing up here however if care isn't taken the spirit is gonna down down soon. There's quick need for a website were we can start registering and chat together online. I foresee not just an unemployed graduate movement but youth movement to revolutionalise the nation in every sector. They've always been saying we're d leaders of tomorrow but every new day has a new tomorrow so when exactly is the tomorrow if not now. If we've a website where we're all registered there will be more spirit of commitment and from there we can be talking of physical meetings more likely in zones first. I'm very busy for now but if i see no one coming up with the site soonest. I'll quickly design one that will still enable us to register and chat enabled. |
This is the first time i'm gonna speak publicly on Islam as a religion. Having observed for a very long time. I conclude that Islam is INDEED a religion of PEACE. All what they want us to do is just change Federal Republic of Nigeria to Islamic Republic of Nigeria with Sokoto being the nation's capital and the Sultan of Sokoto just like the Queen of England with a Prime minister in charge of state administration and we'll truly know the peace in Islam. Muslims did i get you right? |
Speechless |
Ogbeche77: Chai... Who ll bear the cost? The poor church members of course..some few weeks before this time, why didn't you shout about a 3km long farmland or factory. Since no agricultural fundamentalist, industrial fundamentalist and governments do not see the reason for expansion of what should be their area of concentration is it then the problem of what you see as religious fundamentalist seeing reason to expand whats is in his area of concentration. You've got no point. And to those shouting TB Joshua, the fact that he shows his charity services on the TV doesn't mean he's the only one doing it. How many of you know about RCCG orphanage homes where lot of homeless kids had graduated from Uni, some vocational trainings and so on. How many of you know about the rehabilitation for the addicts and the likes. Mind you no one is forcing anyone to contribute to the project, if you like do and if not its your choice. |
