I’m sorry, boss, we may not be able to resolve this remotely as you have done the necessaries. I’d advise you return the TV and file a complaint, sir
I second the bolded. You should be good to go since you just got it, it should still be within warranty period.

Do not try any repairs on it else you void the waranty.

I hope it was procured from walk in stores and not online malls.

buying second hand-remodify (most of the time) TV is like crossing the express(8-lanes) blindly
My brother, I no know nau. European TVs are usually spec'd much better and with superior quality than their African counterpart even for the same manufacturer and model number. So I wanted that high spec'd device too. I thought it will be a fair experience like buying tokunbo vehicles. I no know say na express my masquerade dey go.

eleojo23:
Most of the LG products in the market are fake. If you do a check, you won't find the model on LG's official website. I nearly wasted money (50k) on the LG32Lk50 sold everywhere but decided to check it online only to see that it's available only on Nigerian sites not even on LG's site. I discovered it's actually an imitation of the original LG32LK500BPTA which is more expensive.
I decided to use the same amount to get a non-smart 32" TCL Digital TV and I'm loving it. Sharp HD picture, backlight adjustment 0-10, auto-volume, 4 ECO modes and digital TV channels (mostly scrambled though, needs a CI card to unscramble).

Consumption is 50w at full blast but with the ECO mode set to "High" and backlight setting at 1, I could tell it consumes about 30w or less because of the slow rate of voltage drop on my inverter battery. I'll get a wattmeter to confirm soon.
If one will be constrained to get tokunbo TVs from Alaba, then maybe it'll be wise to choose products such as Sony, Toshiba et al which have slim chances of adulteration. The LGs and the Samsung's to a lesser extent seem to be an easy clone for those Alaba TV merchants.

I was expecting something that will be as mint as tokunbo cars that we buy here but was shocked when I was confronted with multiply scratched case, torn label and changed label that the model written on it has no semblance to the model number I ordered for. It was when I switched on the TV that I now saw the correct model number. I mean it's as if a wrong engine was placed in a different chassis altogether.

Time to operate it and both You tube and Netflix started acting up with blurred video images and with muddled colour gamut when using both application. Same problem applies to phone to screen mirroring. It didn't last 24hrs on my TV shelf before I had it shipped back to the vendor who in his best sense felt he would return money short of 30k.

I no even get strength for arguement. Na me dey look for European spec TV when I could have jéjéli manage the mediocre but brand new Subsaharan Africa-Nigeria specs that is usually dumped here.

Abeg make I no detail this thread jàre.

How and where can one get a CI card (CAM) in Nigeria? I'm really interested. Multichoice doesn't seem to have it according to info from their cc rep.
Multichoice will very unlikely offer you a CI card cos it may eventually backfire on 'em. It is an easy way to bypass their subscription for those that know their ways.

You can get it from those guys that install subscription TVs like Startimes and DSTV. They will also help you set it up including the dish direction placement and every other stuff about it.

What's the price range of the Infinix Smart TV?
Got it for 130k at a walk in shop. Although I later saw it on Konga and Jumia dem for 107k or thereabout, but I think I'm more comfortable with the walk in shop in case item gives issue during warranty period. Besides it has been my go to store for appliances.

You'll be careful with the remote control though. It is thin and it broke in half when one of the kids mistakenly knelt on it while it was on the bed. The "volume up" button stopped working but I still use the phone app for full control for now while waiting for replacement remote from the store.

Also the android app version is kit kat, I think. Then I have had to do a full TV reset twice since one month use. It seems the ROM is low, so after a while of use, the "source" option (TV, DLNA, AV, HDMI) will not display and only the TV reinstall/reset restores normalcy.

The speaker bass is just "duh". Experiences with two previous LG TVs (one 10 yr old LCD and a year old LED) is an impressive immersive bass, but this Infinix gives nothing impressive in terms of speakers, so I wonder where that Dolby claim comes in.

Netflix login is a breeze, ditto Facebook. If you're logged into your Facebook profile, notification flags come in whether you are watching the DLNA, HDMI or AV sources. I love that.

WhatsApp is nothing to write home about. I have never been able to log in. This is one thing Sony Android TV does well. In the case of infinix's, the problem is always "time is not correct, please check your time". Yet if you set the time correctly, you still can't log in to WhatsApp. I would have loved a situation whereby I can send on screen time pop-up messages to families whenever I am away from home.

You tube login is also a challenge. When you try to login your details, it always takes you back to the home page. Hence you can only access you tube services as a guest, not as a registered user.

Phone to screen, screen to phone mirroring works quite well.

Another downside is that it has no CI card slot, as much as I would love it to have that. But it was a good choice I made after having a bitter experience with one seller at the NL TV section who sent me one disappointing LG product which showed signs that it has been opened and worked on (repaired). I hope that would be the only time I would have to consider used TVs from Alaba.

But I have to agree, the screen pictures are beautiful and images come out with very punchy colours that threaten to rival my Hisense and LG. That's even for the fact that the TV (43 inch) is HDTV. I understand that the 55 inch (or is it 60 inch now) is UHD.

Also the bevel are so thin, lovely thin with an almost edge to edge screen expanse. Only the lower edge where the product name is has about 5cm bevel.

It also has Bluetooth on board which claims to connect to many BT hardwares including keyboards and mouse. I connect to my earphone, one of the reasons I went with that Alaba TV source in the first instance. It's for the bedroom and I wouldn't love to intrude wifey's sleep while watching TV.

I'm looking into buying the Hisense TV but B8000UW, haven't seen anyone use it around.
I'm not sure if my model is B8000UW

How is their TV fairing and the Vidaa U OS?
TV is doing fine so far, zero issues going to two years now.

The VidaaU OS has not shown any kind of freezing. It comes pre-installed with You tube, Facebook, Netflix (which I use actively), web browser and a few other apps which I can't recall now. You can access more apps thru their store which isn't anything close to Google app store in terms of content. Their app market has few apps (news, weather and VOD apps). The remote control comes with one click buttons for Netflix and YouTube. Logging in to Netflix is different from my experience with LG webOS and Infinix TV android both of which require actual login with email and password like you would do on a Web page, but for the VidaOS Netflix will only require you to enter a code generated on your Netflix profile accessed thru the web in order to add the TV as your device.

Do you receive any update of any kind?
I've not received a single update till now, not even a notification of any kind although I have not had it connected online in about 5 months now. This is unlike my experience with LG webOS where there was an update within 2 years.

Still use it or bought another? If yes to the latter, why did you?
I still use it, still going strong. And even though I would love an upgrade but I don't know if I'll wanna do that anytime soon cos it's a 65 inch UHDTV future proof, and any upgrade to higher size will mean increase demand on my solar power (I'm solely on solar).

Which reminds me. My experience is that use of solar removes the possibility of these appliances failing early from power surges. Power surges is rare with solar inverters but common with NEPA/PHCN, something which may explain the 2 years trouble free duration of use of the TV. So if you use PHCN you might wanna keep in mind to purchase a surge protector along with the TV.

I recently bumped into their Android app viidaOS app which lets you control the TV and launch apps via your android phone. But from the use so far, they're not there yet with the app, still a work in progress with bugs, although some claim trouble free use of the app with the year 2020 versions/products of their TV. But I'd say I enjoy using the Infinix TV android phone app better.

Thank you but I'm not in Abuja. I'm in the east now and the package is supposed to get here after everything. At least that's what they told me.

My confusion is on the fact that they haven't sent me the custom fee I'm supposed to pay. It's just frustrating.
I believe it's DHL that should go thru all that hassle of clearing and forwarding to your doorstep because "delivery to your doorstep" is what they got paid to do, except in cases of contraband goods where the buyer errs and FedEx therefore cannot be held liable for any custom seizures. Anything short of that is breach of contract.

January this year, UPS shipped me an item from AE. The moment it got to their Lagos office (or maybe customs, I'm not sure), they called me and also sent me an SMS and Email notification of the item's arrival and the likelihood of payment of duties. In less than 24hrs they then followed up with email detailing the customs charges including the account to pay into and asked I notify them in a reply email with attachment of the proof of payment. They wrote in it that demurrage starts to be incurred after 5 days, so I have until then to pay that specified amount.

I paid in less than 24hrs and called back the phone number included in the email to notify payment and also attached proof of payment in a reply email. They acknowledged receipt and within 2 days my item was delivered.

I also have another UPS parcel due for delivery on 20th. The seller changed shipping from FedEx to UPS but gave valid reasons for doing so - said COVId induced. Then there were some initial confusion from the seller giving contradicting delivery info (he told me it was shipped but 12hrs after my order was still showing "order processing" and when I queried him, he again provided a China Post tracking number when what I paid for was FedEx shipping). So suspecting foul play, I decided to investigate myself armed with the UPS tracking number he provided. I visited UPS website and tracked the item and it showed that the item is truly meant for my address. It also provided option for me to submit my email and phone number to receive continuous updates of "delayed delivery", "returned item" and "arrival of item" concerning the parcel, if and when such events occur. Though I did not receive an SMS, but I immediately got email notification of the status of the parcel directly from 'em.

So I believe FedEx should have similar process if their brand name is to be reckoned with. What I think you should do is to get hold of the phone number that contacted you. Call that number for enquiries or you visit their website to lodge the complain. Who knows, the tax invoice may have been forwarded to your phone number but network issues may have precluded you receiving it.

If this will be of any additional help, I am expecting a parcel shipped by FedEx in the coming days. Though it's a small parcel which I don't think customs will raise an eyebrow at, they may not even tax it.

It will be only for that day 11:11:20.
No defined discount rate but you will notice a significant price slash.
These price slashes are games and tricks, at least in most cases.

Okay, there is this item I'm watching. 2 days back it was 35usd, the price it has been for over one month and I've placed an order for it and expecting delivery soon. I will need to buy another of that item soon but with the suspicion of 11-11 approaching, I decided to "buy" another but did not pay, so it remained in my "unpaid orders" list with the original price while I also left one in my cart.

This morning, the price has increased to 50usd in the store and also in my cart while it's still stuck at 35usd in "unpaid orders" which I have 14 days to pay or else my order will be revoked. I hope to use the monthly limit refresh of my card to do the payment hopefully.

Meanwhile when 11-11 comes the item price will then go back to 35usd as people will think it's a "massive price slash".

I have more items on watch list that I took screenshots of their current prices last week. I'm sure they will soon be following the same trend.

I only plan to buy from the genuine price slashes, not the false ones.

Someone told me that their custom duty is far above normal.
A parcel was shipped to me yesterday and the carrier is FedEx. So I should have answer to your questions in a few days. The item is a Charge Controller though, about 1kg.

And I think Nigerian customs are more averse to phones than to electronic microparts like charge controllers, so they tend to tax the former like their lives depend on it.

Until u get scammed by paying to in specified link
The links are also AliExpress store links, so the scam is unlikely. The same links will still be in your payment profile and with adequate evidence of screenshots of your discussion and agreements between you and the seller, I think AE should still be able to arbitrate appropriately.

By the way, the dude I was trying to negotiate that option with came up with another style. I click on "buy item", but do not make payment. Then it goes into my "unpaid orders". I inform the seller immediately, send him the order number and then he changes the price to 100 USD which I pay. Then I repeat the process over again and he also changes price to 40usd which I pay. So what that means is that I will have two orders of the same item that ideally costs 140usd as "100 USD" and "40 USD". In case of arbitration, I believe all these can be used to reclaim your money since it's in your "order" list.

Although I didn't use the seller again cos GTB eventually came thru with increasing their limit to 200usd.

It's not good to keep the battery at such a high voltage, it impacts the lifespan of the cells. Impact may not be very significant if you cycle it daily. I won't even bulk charge @28.8v talkless of a float.. You wonder why pylontech is able to give longer years warranty? Some of the reason is because their BMS is setup to maintain charging at low voltage and low C rates. An LFP will be fully charge @3.45v per cell so there is no motivation for charging at 3.6+v

I will kuku put it at 28v then. That's still 0.8v below the present. That should be enough compromise for now until I do my research.

Okay, you use the fixed three stage options eco (high, medium and low)

If it has "backlight settings" proper, then perhaps you can further reduce the consumption. The backlight settings usually have a gradation if 100% to 0%, but I think "dynamic backlighting" should be switched to "off" before that option becomes available.

This is for folks like me who are using axpert variants for their lithium batteries that experience a well known early float bug. The work around for this is to set bulk and float at the same voltage e.g 28v which is a high voltage to float lithium. In my case before now, I just manage with 27.4v float and wait it out until the battery get full. However with solpiplog running on my pi and BMV in the mix, I am now able to automate that as follows:

@>91% SOC set float at 27v
@<90% SOC set float at 28v

That way the optimal juice from my panels goes into my LFP. So if you have a way to achieve the above you will be able to work around the float bug.
Renewable energy is both the present and future!

Have a good week ahead!
I see you still shy away from the recommended 28.8v to 29v float for that LFP. I think I have to do a lil' more research on the pros and cons of my own choice sha.

How efficient is the ECO mode on TVs? Does it really reduce power consumption?
That's what the term "Eco" (Power Economy) translates to.

Some products use "Energy saving" in place of Eco mode.

TVs with that have a way to reduce consumption by sacrificing backlight intensity, connectivity or ambient lighting auto sensing
A Hisense 65 inches of 130 watts at full blast drops to 33 watts at 25% backlighting.

olopan:
Very efficient, I have seen for a 70inch LG drop from 130W to 105W to 90W using just eco mode and drop to 70-60W on further reduction of brightness.

Even a conventional TV can reduce consumption by playing around with its brightness and all that.
Sound power consumption is a little negligible
@bolded. I haven't really noticed that. I have tried out a number of TVs to know that "brightness" setting is quite different from "backlight" settings. The former alters the pixel intensity and has no bearing on power consumption while the latter alters (dims or brightens) the TV's source of light (LEDs) and effectively doing so changes the consumption.

This means that: If you can't find "Eco setting" or "Energy saver" in the menu, my brother do not purchase it. Run away from it. Even if it has those settings, you still have to go with a Wattmeter to confirm your findings.

I angrily sold off a 3 months used Startimes DBTV 43 inches LED TV because it does not have backlight adjustment. The crazy appliance consumes 73 watts while I helplessly watch on.

Recently got a 43 inches Infinix Smart TV that consumes 77w at 100 percent backlight full blast and 27 watts at 5% backlight setting. A teeny bit below some popular brands like Sony and the Hisense, but impressive performance for Infinix brand.

zeestone99:
Mine can do 70w,50, and 30w depending on the level of eco mode chosen. Brand is Samsung.

It's no typo Bro, that's what happens when the freezer compressor shuts off.

The turbo switch should not be constantly on, its meant to be a fast track and when it gets to your desired temperature you should turn off the turbo if it doesn't go off by itself as that was how it behaved in my 219L(I have not tried the turbo on the 379L) so that may also be why you have a consistent power consumption.

That said, it could also be due to the content in the freezer, mine is just about 30% full
Goodness, I have been using these appliances wrongly all along. The switch does not disable by itself, so it's always on. I should just turn it off altogether and let the freezer do the work at its own pace. Since power supply is constant, I don't think I really need any fast freezing like that except maybe in rare cases.

What are tour experiences in cancelling orders like this, Does the refund come immediately with 3 days, or long story go enter am?
Dont cancel the order since seller has only three days left to ship it. If seller refused to ship at stipulated time and AE cancels it, your money will automatically be refunded and the seller will have a minus against him for failing to ship. Your refund takes the same duration of time refunds take, usually 10 working days.

However if you cancel the order, it may be marked against you and you may have dropped points.

If the seller has not shipped till now, it may indicate his unwillingness to sell the item at that price. In some cases if the seller peraventure has another buyer of that item from Nigeria buying it at his (seller's) preferable price, he may then mark your item as shipped (but in actual fact he shipped the second Nigerian buyer's order, not yours) and give you and the other Nigerian buyer the same tracking number. Tracking all through will show you destination to Nigeria and you will relax expecting your item to come. It may be long before you discover that the item is headed to another state/town in Nigeria where the actual buyer is.

In this instance, if you decide to open dispute, the seller most likely will accept your proposal without arguement and he will just spin one lie that it was the shipping company fault shipping to the wrong destination.

He will now apologise profusely and ask that you give him positive reviews. You too will be so glad that he accepted your refund proposal without arguement that you will even want to give him 10 stars if possible.
