No time to explain further what that means, but by all means bing it. The "S" allelle in Lekan's SC genotype means he is also predisposed to such event. Thanks for your response.
I will ask him about the capacity of the panels.

The house is 4 bedrooms with home office, we have the following (possible) loads;
3 laptops, 1 LaserJet printer, 1 refrigerator (not deep freezer), 2 standing fans, 2 TV and decoder sets, 1 submersible pump, about 10 bulbs or so.
I don't actually know the actual power needed for each of the loads, but I'm not particularly interested in powering all of them with an inverter.

So Sir, do you think the recommended system is ok?
Bro, those bolded alone will gulp nothing less than 1,200 watts (1.2kw) simultaneous use. Either one can't be used comfortably on a system with two 300 watts solar panels (I'm assuming he'll supply you with 300 watts panel since he said 2 pcs). The pump (estimated 750 watts) and the laserjet (around 450 watts being conservative). My samsung laserjet draws 800 watts momentarily then throttles down to 180 watts per paper print.

You need to audit your load consumptions first. In addition, consider changing your standing fans to energy efficient ones and your bulbs to LED bulbs. Each laptop will take at least 60 watts so three is approaching 180 watts with simulateneous use. If printing is majorly for personal/home office use, you may consider getting a small budget inkjet printer (they consume less than 80 watts, some as low as 35 watts) as a side printer while you use your laserjet for times you have municipal power supply, you have your generator running or when you are able to upgrade your solar panels beyond the two units. However inkjet isn't cost effective for "photocopy business" where your monthly printing will be nearing 1,500/2000 copies.

Need to say that with all the loads you outlined, simultaneous use, except maybe the laptops and fans (and maybe the fridge with increased system components majorly solar panel), will not be a luxury you should expect.

And please insist he uses an MPPT charge controller of no less than 60 amps rating for you as it will also help in future upgrades. A number of installers outside will wanna use "Roy solar-like" PWM for you. Of course with MPPT controller, you will pay more cos those little "efficos" are expensive. And considering your use of printer and refrigerator, insist he uses a Pure Sine Wave inverter for you, no no to a Modified Sine Wave inverter else you risk damage to those appliances. And also tell him not to tamper with (cut off) the MC4 connectors of the solar panels, puleeeeease!

SoftHeart:
Thanks for your prompt response Sir.

Yes, the critical devices are the laptops, printer, TVs and bulbs. We can use generator for the others.

So with that, do you think the recommended system is ok?

Just curious, at the bolded, do you mean the budget be 6 or 7 digits?
Because the quotes I'm getting is already of 6 digits...
Hah bro!

Before you commit yourself, instruct the installer to do this:

Outline the components he intend to use for your set-up according to the following:
1. Brand name
2. Ratings (watts, kilowatts, amp-hours, awg/mm, as the case may be)
3. The price of each - he may not be comfortable giving you this but it's not bad to try your luck.
4. He should whatsapp those and the pictures of the components to you.

Then kindly come here and table your findings to the honorables here in the house to debate on the proposal and see if they can pass the budget to that "executive" (your installer) who will execute your installation.

Please expert in the house,is there really any difference in the efficiency of PWM CC compared to MPPT?I have attached 2 pictures of the current generated by both at about 10:30 am today. There isn't really any significant difference. The MPPT is connected to 260w x4 units of Felicity panels and is charging 2units of 200ah batteries in series while the PWM is connected to 160w x 4 units of Felicity panels charging 3 units of 105ah batteries in parallel.I really do not see much difference except there is something I am not analysing right.
Chai!

See as person dey waste energy with 4p1s connection on a good MPPT. You must be starving your 200ah series batteries.

That being said, with some experience of Lithium I can boldly say that your PWM will not measure up to the efficiency of the MPPT panel array for panel array, orientation for orientation, wire for wire, battery SoC for battery SoC and load for load.

Your comparison is a little flawed for the reason that the two set ups are not under the same condition. You need to have the two under the conditions I mentioned above. Besides your PWM with those gauge of wires I see on it will not survive a 4p 300 watts power at full blast. You will already get heat if not welding at the CC terminals.

When I had PWM harvesting power to my lithium batteries from a 4p 320w panel, it hardly charges past 26.2v despite the 60A PWM churning out around 40amps on most days. And mehn the wires at the DCB terminal were always warm that I am always fearful the times I am not home. The PWM just couldn't muster the strenght for that extra push/pressure to fill up the battery past its nominal 26.3v to the full 28.8v while the system is under load. Although it occasionally pushes to the 26.6v mark when there is NO LOAD on the system.

But the moment the long awaited 60A MPPT arrived and I did the needful (reconfigured to 2s2p), well the battery has always gotten charged to the recommended 28.8v despite having a 167 watts load constantly placed on it. And did I mention that the DCB terminal wires have been super cool. I could also add two more panels to make 6 panels in the array with rest of mind, something I couldn't do with the PWM cos the wires already get warm with 4 panels on.

Another scenario that is currently active:
Two set ups, the same solar panel orientation.
a. 2pcs 150 watts panel in series, 80AH LFP, 30amps MPPT, 40 watts load is almost always on it from 9am.

b. 2pcs 150 watts panels in parallel (same brand as above but purchased 2 months before), 60AH LFP, 20 amps PWM, 29 watts load occasionally on it during daytime.

Setup "a" charges to recommended 14.5v by 11:30 am on bright days while set up "b" in 9 out of 10 times never goes past 13.2v till sundown.

So for your 4pcs 300 watts panel, going MPPT rather than PWM was wise, however you're being unfair to that nice controller by going with a 4p solar panel array. The PWM cannot be compared to the MPPT for that size of system.

omotoda:
Batteries are in 2s2p.The voltage you see as 27.6v is the battery voltage not panel voltage

Below is panel voltage.
Okay, saw this after.

That notwithstanding, your MPPT's 52.4v at 21.3 amps will sure trump the PWM's "x" volts (I'm assuming around 49 volts) at 21.5 amps. We are even yet to put the battery's SoC into consideration yet o.

And yèyé Caucasians will be painting the image of Satan as black and that of Jesus as white whereas the real Jesus was not white but dark skinned. They created the word "black" and "white", "dark-ness" and "l-ight", "blackmail" and "whitewash" and determined it to mean "evil" and "good" respectively, they also indoctrinated a lot of inferiorities into the psyche of the average back man that today we value the inferior "white skin" over "dark skin".

Check it out: nature itself has shown us the true state of things - white skin has weaknesses that makes it more susceptible to UV ray induced skin cancer, the black physique is clearly stronger and more enduring and so also is the physiology and anatomy of the dark-skinned having better thresholds. Even the brain of the dark skinned is better wired but unfortunately already limited in imagination due to the inferiority complex orchestrated to keep it in subjugation.

Glad that one of theirs has finally come out to show the true picture of who tha devil is. Y'all can see that he did not paint himself "black" to complete the transformation. That's because against popular belief, the devil ain't black and "dark" does not translate to "bad" or "evil".

I'm aware that usually text messages are sent from the PO. It's only some staff of theirs that I've taken as friends that go the extra mile to call when I have items. If text messages are sent, you should get it when network services are restored to your area.

On reporting those erring staff to their boss, I'd say it may not amount to much cos they are all the ssme, and have their hands in the cookie jar. I think it's only Abuja instruction that may have some affect on 'em.

But it's also with inverter compressor, right?

219L should be okay for personal/home use. If it's inverter type, then you should look forward to seeing around 60 watts to 80 watts consumption on it as opposed to 110w/115w on the regular compressor.

379L is good too. it even seems the 319L is not even enough anymore for contents sold in the shop. I should know that this Oliver-Twist-wants-more attitude cost money jàre.

i see a pattern unfolding on the thread where members are divided into two groups.
in one group are those that readily spend their time providing answers to questions
asked by solar newbies (no matter how difficult or silly). in the second group are those
who only come to the thread to offload their products. they give us a long list of what they
have in their warehouses, flood the whole place with pictures and disappear only to appear
next time and repeat same. no attempt to answer any questions, no attempt to weigh in
on any discussion. they are just so focused on selling...
my thoughts then would be that, if everyone else only come here to flood the pages of this
thread with adverts, post long list of wares and vanish into thin air, will it still be an interesting
place for folks to visit? will it still hold the kind of attraction it presently it has where people
come to seek knowledge and get enriched by sound discussion on solar issues?
if the answer to the above is no, where then would the customers come from whose
patronage these marketers desperately seek....?
Good point honestly.

But what I noticed is that unlike the hobbyists, only a few of those marketers even know the nitty gritty about AE or even about what they market cos as you said, it's only about business for them. The only questions that they may feel obliged to answer is the price, not even the features or specs of what they market. I wouldn't blame them for that though cos they need to sell while for most of us here, it's the hobby and the pleasure that comes with it. Don't even be surprised if most of the sellers here rely on gasoline generators instead of easily setting up theirs.

It's the few of the hobbyists here who have at one time or another had to sell off their old systems due to upgrades or who have spares of components that usually fall into the category of sellers who also have time to answer questions here. Even those category mostly sell at discounted prices less than the prevailing market price which further buttress the point that for them, it's majorly the pleasure that comes with using AE while for the other category, it's about the Awolowos.

So I'll say we can cut 'em some slack if they don't readily volunteer so much answer if it doesn't directly concern their wares. Our problems with 'em should come when they seem not to know jack about the specs of the product they advertise to us on here, like for instance the other time that one of us needed to do the capacity test on the Felicity lithium to alert us all here to the over-declared capacity, an info which the seller is supposed to have at their fingertips.

It doesn't make sense and is annoying for me to spend so much to acquire something before I could know the true state of the specs while the marketer smiles to the bank on my purchase misfortune.

However with large larger items, I preferably go with AESS avoiding SingPost as much as possible. Even if AESS decide to use SingPost, I am rest assured of refund if delivery goes south. I didn't pay extra for AESS over straightforward SingPost for nothing.

Even the politicians too do not give ethno-religious colorations when it is time to loot the country's resources. Yet they always push that narrative when they need our supports or when they try to water down perceived agitations amongst Nigerians that may lead to united confrontations from the citizens. There is even more chances of romance between southern Nigerian people than with Northern Nigeria because of common interests and overlapping cultures. Yet the political elite and some hegemony will keep that part of the country in perpetual disunity and the people there too always fall for the gimmick.

The relevance of the opressor is maintained when there is continued disunity among the oppressed.

Make sure you get it from a reputable walk in electronic store rather than online like Jumia. Holy cow! 197k. That's killing. This stuff was 167k, at most 170,551k less than three months ago.

They later called me about 6 weeks ago that they now have it in stocks and asked if the guy in ADK will still be interested. I'd have loved the fan type too, but the products I saw with fans were inverter 509L and regular 319 and regular 419L. I almost believed that the 319 inverter had no fan option if not that you posted it here now. If I knew there's 319 inverter turbo option, I'd have insisted on it.

Okay I am now looking for a freezer to replace my current 219t which I really loved but I guess it's time to give up on it.

So I am trying to decide between thermocool and LG inverter freezers both are at similar range in terms of price but thermocool is bigger. I know @ceaser got the thermocool inverter freezer sometime ago, has been your experience? Anyone using the LG inverter freezer can also help here.
Inverter freezer 319L rated at 115 watts. I think the equivalent non-inverter 319L is rated at 156 watts (I'm not sure it won't be higher). It comes supplied with wheels which you will install yourself. It starts softly at around 86 watts, slowly ramping up over 15 to 20 minutes or thereabout till it gets to its desired consumption which is determined by the temperature of the contents. Most days when the contents have reached set frozen temperature, it maintains a steady 102 watts to 106 watts. However if and when the contents are freshly put inside, it can reach a freaking 166 watts. But I suspect that is to make it freeze faster and it does freeze fast and keeps item frozen well for 12 hrs (which is the longest I've left it without power) after power outage. Although the manufacturer's spec indicates 100 hours after outage. I also keep the high freeze buttons permanently on on my freezers, otherwise maybe consumption could have been less overall.

I think when it comes to freezers, thermocool gets it right. Their non-inverter 203L that I have had for almost a year has so far kept its cool and it has not disappointed nor has it made me hot with temper, although the door LED light burned out on the 4th month of use and I'm careful with replacing it so as not to install a replacement bulb with crazy consumption. The 203L (rated 115 watts) keeps a constant 110 watts on most days although I suspect that it may be lower when contents are well frozen cos I noticed that the inverter battery drains a lot less overnight when its content are well frozen.

I have read here good reviews about LG inverter refrigerators, so maybe they trump thermocool in the refrigerator landscape. I once read about their proprietary "linear inverter compressor" which performs even better than the regular inverter compressors. I think they use that in their high end refrigerators. You may want to confirm the use of this in their products available in Nigeria before you purchase LG.

ojeysky:
Thanks checked it, but seem not to be using an inverter compressor? However coming from a htf-219t will like something like that or bigger than that as 200has is smaller. That's why am considering a 319iw but I see there is a turbo inverter series as well 319ts.

4 days is not too late yet. I believe it's still within the allowable time limit for shipping of an item after payment. AliExpress gives a time limit for sellers to ship item beyond which the order is automatically cancelled and you will be refunded your money. The import of that is negative rating of the seller on AE rating, not even the buyer's. So sellers try to avoid delaying shipping items after payment.

You should click on your order to check the remaining days for shipping. It usually does not exceed 10 days, may be longer during this covid era.

Nope. Solar accessories even though the package is even larger than the average phone packages. Customs have no business with the small solar accessories (charge controllers, DCBs etc) yet.
