BetaTechnicians:Assembling 18650 cells can be a wee bit time consuming. You will need a charger - discharger to determine the capacities left. But in the absence of that you could use a reliable 18650 power bank with replaceable batteries. You will just make do with a voltmeter this time around. Have a completed 48v/28ah 18650 already just for experimental use. Assembled in 2 units of 7s14p so that it can be disassembled and reconfigured for 24v use if needed, all in a cosmetically acceptable enclosure/casing. Included is Daly BMS, DCB and XT60 plugs (which I'm planning to change to Anderson plugs), to later add voltmeters and change the terminals to inverter types when order arrives. I'm on the second pack, done with the first half of this second pack and waiting for the day I'll have time for the second 7s14p. Due to the protest, it seems the BMS for this, the voltmeters and other accessories are stuck in transit. I'll advice you create time a self-DIY. Which reminds me, is there a place one can get the terminals in the attached picture in Nigeria which will be a lot easier than ordering from aside?

adrusa:Please if you buy the Pylontech, don't change the BMS, biko . The complexity of that circuitry is too much to just rip it out like that. Messing with the Felicity is easier on the conscience because they have decided to disrespect themselves and by extension mortgaged the respect for their product with false specs. I can decide to do experiment with a battery like that. However with something like Pylontech, I will still wanna max out the warranty or ROI before deciding to conduct experiments on it just so to satisfy my curiosity. Of course, if I have the bucks flowing like Otedola's (who I doubt is a DIY guy) or if you guys can happily contribute money for me to buy a pylontech; as a DIY enthusiast I will have no qualms with ripping apart that assembly on the first day of acquisition and even putting the video on you tube for you guys to see.Remember that time that the legendary Fela turned a Benz 230 "regular" to a pick up truck just so to satiate his curiousity. |
ojeysky:This reminds me of the battle between Compact Discs Audio/Video and mp3/MP4. The latter does not suffer "scratching" of the plates like the former but it is still predisposed to being corrupted on storage drives if managed improperly. The difference in fidelity between the two is as clear as day. The entry of 1080p and 4k into the scene has rendered one obsolete while the other is a necessity. This does not mean that people still don't use CDs/DVDs but the trajectory clearly shows a gravitation to what has a much higher density, newer, cleaner and of course smaller form factor. So if I encourage peeps to move from the Laser burned discs to Zeros and Ones on SoCs citing the gains of the new tech, it does not mean that it will not be vulnerable if managed improperly, but it clearly has advantages that trumps the old, which displaced an older tech during its own time and clearly had its own disadvantages too. |
Ceaser01:Another delay. This time with FedEx. Item in Lagos already. I seriously hope this one isn't gonna be taxed by customs. Covid-19, and then this again. ![]()

Which of them block the road to prevent citizens from commuting? Both of 'em. When you wage war, you take it to the doorsteps of the enemy. The enemy in this case is the government and the discord is between the government and Nigerians. But rather than ease life for other Nigerians in the same boat with them, what they resort to is shaking that boat so that it capsizes and everyone drowns. In all these, the elite will watch on and laught at the folly from their yatchs. The protests would make more sense if they are taken to the doorsteps of the violators (politicians and political institutions) rather than disrupt the movement of every random Nigerian out there with the obstructions. The political institutions will include things like the government houses, senate houses, house of reps, the politicians money-spinning agencies like NDDC, NCC, NNPC, CBN etc. The protesters should rightly invade the airports, note the government officials and functionaries that approach the runway (there's hardly a day you won't find government officials or their families on the runway to pick a flight) and make sure the plane does not take off by lying, sitting or even cooking meals on the runway. All these are a facilites and places that affect them directly the obstruction of which will drive 'em crazy enough to wanna find a fast solution. For instance, news from home is that Káyòdé Fáyemí of Ekiti state went on from his state to neighbouring Ondo state airport to pick a flight just yesterday, on a private jet o (this is what he does several times a week using the state money), yet the yèyé protesters did not see it fit to obstruct his entourage and therefore his commute out of the state he is elected to govern, but they saw sense in blocking other trunk B and C alternative routes that citizens of the state use for their daily commute. |
Deluxe8000:The Gel setting should suffice for LFP. Edited: I see Ojeysky has given a response. |
adrusa:The bot that banned you then probably has the "off your mic" matrix in the program. ![]() You need the "Sòrò sókè" bot to make lengthy views. |
ojeysky:Can you imagine that 80ah overdeclaration? That's a massive deviation that can not be seen as technical error but as a deliberate attempt at deception. Whether it's the company itself or it's 9ja marketers or both of them that is to be balmed is only left to speculation. But what kanai say. We are being fed worse with the various brands and generics of LA batteries in Nigeria. It's just sad that a popular brand like Felicity will be at the forefront of this fraud considering the fact that they seem to be the first and only company that's keyed into the LFP segment for Nigeria. SON is as good as dead and just a money swallowing agency for those in government and their families (GMB is about to create two more from EFCC), so manufacturers keep dumping substandards here. |
genius43:No. Since I had opened the package before I discovered the damage, a video showing only "after opening parcel" moments will likely not be tenable. And that was what AE arbitration team simply implied by their "3 days after parcel delivery" damage report as invalid. |
Emily22:The purchase protection remained 5 days by the time item was delivered. AE took another 2 days to step in to arbitrate and even though I implored the seller to extend BP for another 21 days before I agree to his proposal to cancel dispute (I assumed that he may want to propose to send a replacement), he did not acceed to the request. So now, all that is left to do is file an appeal. Unfortunately, that appeal thingy from my experience is at best academic. They've never responded to any of my appeal. |
Emily22:See as item suppose fine. See useless and punctured pressure pack. On the 3rd and 4th pictures, one can see the impression of the device itself on the users manual (a paper o) as if making an impression on clay. That shows the amount of pressure the pack must have been under for extended periods during transit.

AliExpress team don dey madt gaan and dem never see medicine for their madness. Your system detected an item arrived for delivery. I took delivery of the item 3 days after your system notification in my email and I at once sent a dispute notification upon noticing that the item is damaged. Nonsense people are now telling me that sending notification for damaged item 3 days after delivery suggests an invalid claim. Shey 3 days is not even too short sef, that's if their 3 days claim is the truth? Why not give a window of one week? And I even thought they'd be more reasonable considering the fact that carrier is AESS, which is one reason I also go for that shipping option. What with the overwhelming pictures as evidence? Like 15 pictures from different angles including pictures of the punctures and dents on the packs that would have warranted the easy damage of the item inside. I couldn't make a video of me opening the package cos I couldn't have known item was damaged before opening it. I've never had it bad from these guys like this. This year, their Corona-infested brains seem to have shorted neurons and appears to be working abnormally. What's with all these back to back dispute losses they've been dashing me? I can get over losing disputes for items that failed to arrive cos I know NIPOST and NGcustoms in my country can be sometimes disappointing, but I just can't stand AE holding me liable for this damage to an item no matter how cheap the item is. Guys, just hope you don't have any form of disputes to file on AE cos it appears that their yearly revenue has been negatively impacted by the covid pandemic, shrunken half-year revenue, that they can't afford to give money out much even when dispute claims are credible. E be like say dem no dey read that their post delivery online survey. Abeg anyone sabi portal wey I fit dash 'em some curse and abuse? I don't mind if dem flag my account or even permanently ban am sef.

funshyboi:Aside GeorgeD1's Zenith outlier LA battery dashed out after 7 years of faithful service, is there any other LA user here that still sustains on 9 years used and passed on storage? Meanwhile one of the 18/65/0 packs I have lying around says 2003 as production date (I think it's one of those that were used by INEC at the heydays of Nigeria's 4th Republic). The 333kw box still drives a laptop for 7 hours. funshyboi:Clearly you've not referred to the manual else you'd have known the operation of the buttons. Or maybe it's one of those Chinese to English translation manual where you'll not even understand what they are trying to instruct you to do. But I'll hazard a guess. You got no response cos you keep "short-pressing" the buttons. Those 3 buttons are likely to be "menu", "up/+" and "down/-ve" function. You may need to long-press the "menu" button for 3secs, 4secs, 5secs (depending on your device) to enter the menu. Then use the up and down buttons to select your values/function. You may need to short-press/long-press the menu button again to register the value(s) you've chosen. PsThis does not automatically imply the CC is faulty. A setting of 13.4v float will show 100% when the set voltage is attained. Same goes for a setting of 14.4v. Understand the CC operation properly first before concluding if it's defective or not. GeorgeD1:Note GeorgeD1's points. |

Abdomox:It's the same as Ojeysky's. We had the same supplier. |
Okoroawusa:Abeg! abeg!! abeg!!! Which Buhari? It was OBJ (a detribalised Nigerian president) who discovered her. It was he who saw it fit to pick her first as a minister, then followed by GEJ in his administration. Those previous national appointments were feathers added to her cap which further gave her an edge in this contest. Adesina is another icon who merited his positions. He was discovered by GEJ. If it were left to GMB, his unrepentant nepotism will make him leave those with merits and qualifications while hunting for the unqualified among his ilks, Kith and kin. Did you read about Justice Bello, the AG of FCT who is contesting as a member of the international Criminal Court of Justice (ICJ)? He was so mediocre that he had to be categorised as "formerly qualified" for the job. The four gradations are: • Extremely qualified • Highly qualified • Formerly qualified • Not qualified. He was pushed thru the ranks (unmerited) in his home country and further made the AG by his people in power. But the moment he got into the international scene where nepotism and mediocrity does not hold sway, his emptiness was bared for all to see. He is Fulani, if you must know. |
Why would this flooding not take place in Sambisa forest so that it displaces those hiding abominations to humanity, destroying their shelters and their foods. It's those crazies that deserve this grievance of nature. This life no balance at all. |

What about that minister of Education flown out for treatment? Sahara reporters should give Nigerians update on that too. |
NiyiOmoIyunade:@bolded What about LTO that claims 100% DoD without significant negative impact on cycle life? ![]() I think one of us here uses LTO. Dapsyra, I think. He does not come online here much. Him feeding peeps his experience too will not be bad. |
Abdomox:I may give you my contact, but the guy oftentimes runs out of stock. We still had a small fight two weeks ago when I learnt he has sold out after I'd expressed interest in buying a few days before.Of course, he sold out because LFP is apparently gaining traction. I was only cross with him because he didn't inform me to quickly buy as he was running low. So you might wanna keep this in mind. |
kiekie1:Li-ion 18/65/0s are about the most flammable and incendiary of the lithium chemistries, yet it was originally used in electric vehicles with huge successes. The shift to LFP from Li-ion 18/65/0s in electric vehicles is due to the former having lighter density for power, easy to customize the shape for the application and of course a higher safety margin from likelihood of fire. I have had a personal experience of 18/65/0s fire (in my crib) and I later discovered the problem to be due to cell mismatch by the guy that handled the assembling. I got to know this because I later sourced for cells (cells salvaged from electric cars on display in showrooms and dealerships) from him and noticed those disparities while bottom balancing the cells before assembling. In fact, about 5 out of the total 800 cells are dead cells and the dude would have just assembled it together as a pack. As a matter of fact, you can safely use 18/65/0 cells in 2s and 3s config without BMS provided you DO NOT discharge 'em so much; they don't go out of sync for a long time without BMS if you don't deep discharge them, but that doesn't invalidate the importance of the BMS. LFP is much more safer, even in thermal runway scenarios. And with the use of BMS is absolutely far more safer. My LFP supplier claims the cells were sourced as grade A cells (agreeing with your point that lithium must be good cells in order to even consider using them) before they were assembled into the pack, so your suggestion that most packs (in those plastic covers) are from salvaged/used packs is untrue. Ojeysky is another member that I believe observes adequate diligence in his LFP cells acquisition. The other LFP packs in the market that I have heard about is Felicity product and even though it appears they give false declaration of their pack's capacity (the second point you raised that I'll agree with), I doubt if their (felicity) compromise and inefficiency will border on their product causing a conflagration. Misuse and users' failure to adhere to manufacturer's specified use in the case of LFP is what may likely lead to any fires, but even then the (electronics) BMS will likely succumb before it gets to that point. |
adrusa:He probably uses a PWM CC to charge it. The float voltage setting may not be up to the value required to give the battery a full 100% charge whereas the AC charger gets the battery to full. Again he needs to be sure of the voltmeter he reckons with if it is programmed for use with Lithium. Lead acid 100% charge is a little different from LFP 100% charge. Edited: Seen that he uses a PWM. @Funshyboi, maybe you should refer to the controller's manual for going about the settings. How even is your panel insolation? Shading? Orientation? Not to forget that the monsoon is still upon us, hence harvest from panels will still be in the troughs and except the panels are well oversized to cater to insolation downtimes, you can only expect increased yield during the dry months. |
shoyemiayodeji:Click on the link below for basic insight. You can ask more questions later. https://www.nairaland.com/5266068/thread-only-aliexpress-shopper/297#93881735 |
babniyen:With this reply of yours, I'd say you already know 95% of the answer to your question. I guess you need more inputs to validate your conclusion. The 50% DoD of Lead acid is a disadvantage when it comes to comparing it with the 80% DoD of LFP, even though you may also not want to deep discharge your LFP to 80% DoD too often in order to further prolong it's service years. LFP expectedly has longer cycle life than the average Lead acids available out there in our market. So yes, I'd say go for the LFP in place of LA, provided your source of LFP is reliable to give true capacity of the product. |
SirdimayG:You can't spend beyond that 100usd monthly. It gets refreshed every month. GTB has upped theirs to 200usd from 100usd. I think Zenith is 396 to the dollar, ditto GTB. If you need to pay for items more than 100usd or 200usd as the case may be, you can message the seller to find how he can be of help. After all na hin wan sell market. Read this link for more insight: https://www.nairaland.com/5266068/thread-only-aliexpress-shopper/334#94920278 |
searay:• What is the item? • Where you hinted of a likely customs duty? • Did the seller do some underdeclaration of the price of the item? |
Kingstonfresh:This is one of the problems of purchasing these stuffs from online malls. You won't have the luxury of testing it to satisfaction before procurement. That notwithstanding, returning it is your best bet as it is pointing towards a factory defect. Return it, demand for a functional replacement or they give you a full refund. |
ojeysky:Oh yes. I forgot that part that you have utility. It implies your system more or less serves as a power back up. |
