Nope I didn't. It was actually first time users sales
All those coupons thingy of AE I keep saying are most times dud. Only coupons that have worked for me are those individual store discount coupons that when you want to buy 5k worth of item from a particular store they say "you get 700 naira discount when you increase your order in that store to 13k naira" etc.

The only AE first timer that I know successfully paid for the item with the first time coupon ended up NEVER getting the item till date (that was early 2019) and in hindsight I could have sworn that the seller did not ship that item because of the coupon thingy meanwhile the buyer was expecting the parcel and got disappointed when tracking was not forthcoming. As at January this year because of that experience, he's still much doubtful that seamless shopping on AE is possible even when I have evidences for him.

So it might be that your first time user coupon is what is giving the issue especially if you the same response using different functional debit cards. So in order to be sure, re-add the same item to your cart this time with no coupons and try to pay for it.

Why is the shipping cost for battries too expensive??

The minimum i saw for my phone was 12k while d battery itself is 3500
That's because it's lithium. Lithium batteries (both small and big) are prohibited items on air planes, so shipping such is via sea cargo which takes up to three to six months in transit. But if it will have to be shipped via air, then it may have to be thru expedited shipping like DHL, FedEx et Al and those are expensive.

Don't be surprised after paying that much money for shipping and the carrier turns out to be AESS. Sellers are trying to cash out with lithium battery shipping.

The only two times I have successfully received a lithium battery without expensive shipping from AE was two years ago. Even clicking on the same seller/item now, it says "seller does not ship to your country".

all basic investigations can be performed by doctors?? what about e/u/cr?? most physicians can't even handle a microscope except for those in pathology dept
I'm glad we are in agreement as regards PCV being walkover for most freshly graduated doctors. You rightly know that conducting PCV does not require the use of a microscope. That notwithstanding, postgraduate doctors in Medicine, O & G, Paediatrics, Family medicine and a few others have laboratory postings programmed in their training schedule. They have additional adequate exposure to the use of microscopes and other basic laboratory processes during such rotation. This is in anticipation of the fact that they will always come across cases that require input of laboratorians at various points in their consultations and such knowledge can come in handy as quick interventions pending the time they get adequate review from their colleagues in the clinical laboratory - the pathologists. You know that practicing modern medicine requires some multidisciplinary approach.

E/U/C can be seen to be in the purview of laboratorians including pathologists who are those trained in postgraduate laboratory medicine, therefore a non-specialist physician will not be condemned if he has no proficiency in it.

@bolded. That settles it. Doctors in pathology dept are laboratory physicians as you rightly know. So this point and the paragraphs before it buttress the points I've been trying to pass across way back.

Felicity Lithium users. Help needed please!!!

1) How does one implement a reliable low voltage disconnect at 49.5v? The site I just inherited, the felicity inverter has a maximum permissible low voltage cutoff at 48v - I need to raise the cutoff voltage to 49.5v approximating 80% DoD.

I am looking for suggestions for a reliable low voltage disconnect mechanism please - I guess this will be an external/add-on device.

2) What is an ideal float voltage setting for the Felicity Lithium? The manual is silent and only specifies 57.6v as the charge voltage.

3) Internally how many cells are in series? I suspect 16 cells? If there are 16 cells then perhaps 57.6v for the pack or 3.6v per cell is very very highly charged and not ideal for the long term?
This is one set up that can be used, if the inverter has that kind of switch. However it will require prying out that switch and constructing an external lead out to connect to the battery protector. Then the switch can be replaced back.

The line-out from the inverter is connected to the two terminals of the original switch of the inverter. The charge-discharge controller has adjustable low voltage discharge and high voltage reconnect values, a battery input point and relay control output. The battery input connects to the battery terminals. The relay input connects to the contactor (first picture) or Solid State Relay SSR (second picture). Once the battery controller senses the preset voltages, it activates the relay which in turn turns on or off the inverter as the case may be. For the battery controller in the first picture, the low voltage must have remained at the set value for six seconds to qualify to activate a disconnect. Anything less than 6 seconds, it will be sensed as the typical transient battery voltage drop that occurs with powering on high surge devices with the inverter, something usually more common with lead acid.

I'm not sure that 6 seconds thingy occurs with the charger-discharger controller in the second picture but it has a few more features than the first.

But I guess the inverter in use in that location will likely be the soft touch switch type in which case this arrangement might be challenging.

point of correction, a doctor has only basic knowledge about laboratory practices. you seriously can't compare a physician with a medical lab scientist when it comes to laboratory practices. In fact, a doctor might find it hard to perform ordinary pcv test
Ha! Bro, what are you saying nau?

@ bolded is all direct opposite of the truth.

Haba, diaris God o.

Ordinary PCV that is done as an emergency investigation in side labs attached to the wards manned by the doctors that make rounds in that ward. Something that you don't need more than a lancet, capillary tube, plus/minus centrifuge and a microhaematocrit reader.

All basic investigations that are conducted in the laboratory can be capably conducted by a doctor. It's an integral part of the medical curriculum with block postings dedicated for it.Then the more advanced ones are the purview of the pathologist/laboratory physician (who is also a doctor that has undergone postgraduate training in advanced medical laboratory practices and it's applicability with clinical knowledge in patient treatment.

This includes all four major arms of the medical laboratory.

Hello Guys,
I'd suggest we create a WhatsApp group where we can support ourselves during these shopping on AE. I am a first timer, and I have been having lots of curiosity. Why don't we help ourselves on this 11 11 festival coming up Wednesday?

If you're interested
I have reservations about readers coming on here to ask that WhatsApp group be created for a thread you basically came across on Naira land. If this thread had not been created here on NL or has been deserted because everyone that mattered had gone for WhatsApp, do you think you will get answers to this your "please create WhatsApp" query? Avid contributors who gets paid nothing for giving their insights here have been trying their best since first page to keep the thread flowing, then people will jump in here half way into the thread and bring up WhatsApp suggestions. This is getting on the nerves of many people, so please stop it.

Why would anyone be comfortable with upsetting a status quo arrangement that has worked, is working and is currently benefiting the majority simply because you want a lil' more comfort for your self at the expense of several others. This is our problem in this country - not thinking of the interest of the majority, but only of ourselves thereby killing the fun for everyone.

People have many questions both reasonable and otherwise, on this topic. If irrelevant questions are posed on 400 limited membered group like WhatsApp and the whole 400 decided not to answer that question then the inquirer will be left hanging or at worst one intolerant member may come up and insult the inquirer for asking an "unreasonable" question. But in an open forum like this, opened to millions of registered users and unregistered visitors, there is no way you won't get someone generous enough to give answers to whatever inquiries you make irrespective of the relevance of such questions.

The wàhálà of ring alerts on dozens of WhatsApp group is still there, one will now wanna add an extra group join?

If the forecast says it'll be limited to Northern Nigeria and other areas north of it, the indices and evidences are clear that it'll be correct.

What the reprobates may now do is to artificially starve the south so that they (north) will have a worthy "brother-in-starvation".

Flood the south with more herds of cows and their sherperds. Mission objective is to deepen crop destruction and maiming of crop farmers.

Unfortunately, justice was long dead in this country, recently interred by Malami.

Meanwhile I think worldwide, people should brace 'emselves for more of these gory fear-mongering news. Covid 19 "fear news" experienced a trough because the elections in the US took greater attention of the proponents of fear. Now that they are in the saddle, Melinda can resume her instrument of fear - forecasting protests, sickness, death and famine in "developing nations" around the world conveniently leaving out developed nations like Hong Kong, UK and the US that recently had and will keep having their own share of civil unrest and citizen protests from the list of country she broadcasts.

The job of perpetually keeping Subsaharan Africa in chains has taken a new boost with the assumption of office by the masterminds. Sudan, Northern Nigeria, Yemen, hmmmm. Natural disasters are inevitable, but it is the response that determines if it will take root or not. The west always have greater shares of natural disasters but their response always minimises the damage.

So if the west would actually not interfere with AfDB, I think Adesina and his team should be able to do something worthwhile to save Africans this armageddon that the west is expecting to come our way.

As for the copy aspect, we know that's not rational. Someone can't just decide to buy two systems just because he's anticipating failure. We're looking at a system that is more reliable, Flexible, and most importantly, batteryLife-friendly
Bàbá, I beg to differ o. Besides it's not like "buying two systems" the way you mean. Getting the reserve board is what is usually advocated for since that is even what most repair centres change in these devices. Besides hobbyists usually have devices that are dedicated solely for "carrying out experiments". So such devices can come in handy at periods of main system failure.

Maybe for clients that may not be willing to dole out more money to have that stop gap device in reserve. But for hobbyists and tinkerers that have enjoyed uninterrupted power for so long, interruptions can be an as5.

Even if you are on 5kva inverter, having a spare 850va for such periods won't be bad. The worst that can happen is that you won't enjoy your AC for the period you plan for repairs, but at least you get to run the basics - lights, TVs, washing machine and phone charging.

As a matter of fact, I usually try to discourage clients from doing hybrid systems. They are never rugged and reliable compared to standalone systems. All those monitoring and logging popular with hybrids are just secondary luxuries...
You gave valid points.

But the part you have yet to address is the part where the battery less option of some hybrids trump the standalone which usually does not give you that option.

Except like I said before, if there are MPPTs with high VoC and if there are standalone inverters that can work batteryless and the two coupled together, but even if there is, I don't think that batteryless feature can come in from there cos the high VoC of the batteryless hybrids is already software-tailored and integrated in the system to carry out such function.

Stop misleading people. Very soon you'll start arrogating treatment of patients to yourselves. Who sees the patients?(who does a patient consult when ill?) Even you as a scientist, I put it to you that when you or your kids feel unwell, who do you take 'em to visit in the hospital? The doctor or your fellow scientist? Who requests the test? By the time the test is ready, is it the person who performs it or the person who requests it that rightfully informs the patient of his/her test result?

I know you have heard of pathologists before but you will conveniently evade the truth in order to satisfy your whims and caprices.

@ Bellotelli and every other unbiased reader, for now do not take his word or mine for it. Rather, conduct your own independent investigation on who the Pathologist is and who a medical lab scientists is. Then make your informed choice of knowledge. Do not let anyone bamboozle you with their clout chasing, trying hard to change people's perception of themselves and trying so hard to make themselves what they are not.

Why would a Medical Lab Scientists tell a patient the result for chrissakes? That's seriously unethical and a patient who knows his/her right can sue that scientist for going outside his job description. Do you know that to ensure confidentiality, test results when ready are usually stapled/enveloped when handed over to the receiver until it gets to the physician?

HIV tests are certainly already stapled/sealed/enveloped at the point of receipt and if the physician realises that the seal is broken by the time the result gets to him, then he can rightly raise an eyebrow to that irregularity, especially if the bearer of the test result is not the patient.

Again I say this, quit misleading people. Your lies can only go on for so long, the infallible truth will trump it in no time.

Exodora:
Tell her to do another test but then in a different hospital , she might not be positive .
In 2011, I was very down sick , there was cholera outbreak so went to this stupid hospital ooo.
That was how the foolish doctor proclaimed me HIV positive . The doctor directed me to general hospital were I carried out a test but the result came out negative . I took the result to the hospital the doctor sent me back ,when I got to the general hospital .They sent me back to the hospital again .
The doctor asked me some stupid questions about my life styles which I explained lucky me , I had a boyfriend but then we were not into sex already cause I know that is the easiest way people contract it .The doctor says I must have contracted it through kissing then , I felt so stupid going back to general hospital again and again , so decided not to go again.
To cut the story short am still alive and strong without any drugs since then and my boyfriend is even married with kids.
Last year same hospital proclaimed one man positive and the man has being living in guilt only to carry out another test in a different hospital this year and discovered he was negative . He went to the hospital they told him there must have being a mistake .
So your girlfriend should have another test but then in a different hospital to ascertain if it's same with the first result . Cause hospitals can be careless at time expect she is has being living a reckless life.
@ Bellotelli, that up there is exactly the danger inherent in the irregularity of that medical lab scientist's claim.

You see, medical tests is at best a guide and is not meant to be used alone as diagnostic criteria. It requires being combined with well grounded clinical skills that the doctor has before a definitive diagnosis is arrived at. In fact, medical/clinical acumen alone is often enough/ethically allowed to make diagnosis than medical tests alone without clinical acumen backing. This is because medical practice is to a large extent based on general clinical condition of the patient and also on epidemiology (simply put, common illnesses among specific population), so a doctor in a local community in let's say a place like Koko with very limited health facility can safely assume that a patient coming with complaints of fever, headache and vomiting likely has malaria, treat him/her for that a the patient gets better. In the same vein, a patient in/travelling from Lassa, Benue state coming with fever, headache with or without unusual bleeding in the peak months of Lassa fever outbreak will first be taken as a potential case of Lassa fever before considering malaria fever and treated along that line too. Medical tests may need to be carried out to determine if it's Lassa or ordinary malaria, but even in the absence of test facilities, the doctor may safely treat Lassa symptoms and get it right.

Test results are not 100% error proof. Lab scientists as the name rightly implies, are basically trained laboratory scientists. In contrast, the doctor like the scientists is trained in both laboratory processes, in Clinical acumen and a number of other health relevant stuffs.

That is why in terms of clinical condition of the patient, if a PCV test result tells a doctor that the patient is anaemic (short of blood), the doctor will look (fully examine) the patient to determine if the stigmata suggestive of anaemia are in that patient. He must have done this before even requesting for the test so it's just a second look. If the patient features say otherwise, then the doctor will seek a repeat test result either from the same facility or from a different testing facility.

This is the stark difference between "test driven" ideology and "medical driven" ideology.

Medical lab scientists will tell you that you have Low Sperm Count (even if the scientist is hard pressed to reveal the test result to you before you get to your doctor, the correct way to say it should have been "you MAY have low sperm count, but your doctor will determine if that is the case".) if your test result shows such. Meanwhile there are several pre-analytic, analytic and post -analytic events (events between the point of collection of the sperm sample up till the point you are issued your result) that may bring out a false positive result. Because that is the only work they assert, a lab scientist believes so much in the test that he/she will insist you have that disease without minding other vital statistics.

The health provider in that private clinic (who may truly be a doctor that has failed to update himself enough to be in tune with current trends, but more likely a lab scientist posing as a medical doctor - which is very epidemic) ignored the fact that there can be "false positive" test result and so he instructed the patient to go to the General hospital to start treatment. Meanwhile the doctors at the general hospital must have properly taken a comprehensive patient history (to determine risk assessment), clinical examination (to determine features suggestive of HIV infection) and repeat test (which must have been negative) and then juxtaposed it with the test he brought from that private clinic to conclude that the patient was not HIV positive.

I took the time for the comprehensive write up just for the sake of the general readers here so as to help 'em avoid the pitfalls that ravages the health sector in that country Nigeria, such nonsense that does not happen in places with standard best practices.

I hear that a lot and makes me wonder; if the standalone CC dies, what's the use of the standalone inverter that is still alive? especially in a off-grid set-up.
The main gist for me is that anyone that wants consistent power source should keep a copy of their hybrids or the standalones. May master J bless our hustle.
I will align with him and with you as well. In his case, for some the cost implication of getting a stop gap hybrid replacement while you are getting the main hybrid repaired will be more expensive than getting a standalone CC or standalone inverter. Remember that in most cases, the stop gaps will usually be smaller capacities than the main system. People may have a spare 1.5kva inverter benched for days when their main 3kva may need to be repaired.

For those that can afford it as an emergency, getting a hybrid for stop gap may not be an onerous challenge. I remember you using the cheaper, less capacity and smaller VoC Felicity while you awaited the replacement board for the MPP. The Felicity is much cheaper than the MPP but definitely more expensive than a standalone that may be used as a stop gap.

Also, high VoC and remote data logging becoming standard features of most affordable hybrids is a valid threat to the desirability of standalone SCCs, at least to me. That is me assuming that I am unaware of any standalone product with high VoC capability.

However, I'll also posit that the more parts of stand alone systems calls for more points of failures but easier replacements of the failed parts wherease the integrated feature of the hybrid means less failure points but potentially challenging replacement when you need to. You may be required to change whole boards or the whole system in such scenarios.

Tinubu may never be president, but I dont care. What matters to be is that an Igbo presidency should never be allowed to happen. Give them Biafra, let them go already
On the contrary, I have not really looked forward to a Tinubu presidency, ditto Fáyemí. They were both fighters in NADECO that brought down Abacha military junta but one will believe that the two will be great leaders with an eye for honesty, selflessness and rule of law. What Fáyemí is doing in Ekiti state is direct opposite of those tenets. Tinubu's gaffe in that aspect too is known by all Nigerians. It's great disrespect to compare Tinubu with Awólówò and Abíólá. The two made positive impacts on the people. Abíólá was pan-Nigerian, loved by all ethnicities across the country and well known for his charity. Awólówò as regional premier instituted a lot of positive reforms that led to major development strides in the south west region and he also had some positive contribution to the central government.

Tinubu did not really do impressively well as two time governor of Lagos state. His organisational skills is much needed as background planner rather than as the leader himself. So he will also not likely do well as a president. He will do better having a candidate and tutoring such on some steps to take at governance.

Fáyemí, hmmm. That one is just doing serious nonsense in his home state. Owing civil servants months of salary arrears, promotion arrears, pension arrears and refusing to remit cooperative deductions from the workers. All he ever thinks of is how to defraud those workers and pensioners by demanding a percentage (from 15% to 25%) as payback from the arrears due to each individual. So imagine a retiree that is being owed 8 million naira, he/she will have to collect only 6 million while the remaining 2 million goes to some fictitious "loaning facility" that Fáyemí claims is funding those payments.

Now with those two nonsense characters dissapointinly out of favour, and with the background knowledge that Osinbajo is apparently tired of his inability to do anything about the whole gamut of nonsense going on under Buhari such that he is not even interested and all he just wants is for this 4 years of nightmare to be over and return home, the only viable option is a South East candidate. Nigerians must never vote a Northern candidate.

Now the South East candidate must be someone that is ready to follow thru with the moves of restructuring the country. A Trump-like dude brave to do what the others have failed to carry out, upsetting the current order of things and putting the country in the new line of regionalism and each region developing at her own pace.

First my package spent 7 days in transit before shipping and it took 4 days to arrive at Lagos. My major issue now is my package status is current on hold since Monday last week. I have contacted DHL support several times throughout last week and I was told my order is being held by customs and they are working on clearing it.

Please had anyone else experienced this issue before?

Please help.
That means the item didn't escape the ugly eagle eyes of NG customs.

I believe it will be cleared appropriately and you may have to pay the amount at the collection point of DHL office of the address you gave.

An email on charges of my UPS order (an inverter) was sent to me ahead of clearing and I paid into the included UPS bank account number so upon delivery I was no longer charged. I got a FedEx charge controller parcel (2kg) today and wasn't billed any customs charges on it. Two units of same item (4.2kg total weight) was also delivered via DHL early this year without customs charges.

So apparently NG customs have very high charging bias against mobile computers, mobile phones and computer parts.

Na only the 300A shunt came in intact grin and may be useful in future if I have another monitor that requires shunt. I still really need that stuff but not in the mood to re-order it again. I recently came across it on "Jumia global" (shipped from abroad) items, so maybe I'll consider hat option later.

I'm sure yours will arrive intact provided you it's not the same seller that shipped mine packaged with very thin pressure packs when he should have put it inside a cardboard box double-wrapped with bubble wraps in and outside.

Does anyone have any experience with these batteries/inverters?

I've only heard fairly about Eastmann before as someone marketed their products to me early last year, but I've neither had any experience with using it nor known anyone who does.

In the flier I was given, Eastmann has a wide range of solar products ranging from SLA, FLA batteries, inverters and solar panels.

I think it's only inverter of Afripower that I've come across before.
