@Hajj and @Egun...you guys live abroad and I see on TV where vaulted wooden ceilings make a home very expensive and highly rated. But you guys don't include it in your personal builds. Is it the fear of heat? Would it not be reduced with a roof vent?.

I just love the vaulted ceiling idea. Builders what's your thought? Doable in Naija?

I have just started my project and took that decision when I discovered I was working for my landlord. His rent (though in a cool environ) was gulping nearly 3 months my salary. Stayed 4 years and just couldn't take it anymore. Moved my family to a bigger house (3bedroom) in a cheaper side of town...rent is just 1 month of my salary. I have started investing the savings plus extra to start my bungalow penthouse. I will finish I b4 3 years...God's grace

Was the depth of excavation/blinding thickness and mix/rod sizes for reinforcements for the bungalow area the same with the duplex/penthouse area?

Good am Spyder, how did you spread the use of these bars? Is it Y16 for foundation till deck? And you continue with Y12 till roofing? Or did you mix both rods at this foundation and lintel stage?

Prince what's your take on the parapet that is moulded and plasted on ground and casted with smaller amount of rod, concrete and wood? What percentage of cost saving will it give?

Weldone Spyder...one question please. Why didn't you introduce reinforcement irons on the dpc? Is it just OK to have the nylon and concrete cast alone? Your answer is impt because that could mean I may go for this style for a duplex and not a penthouse bungalow.

Here is the recent mail sent today stating the date and university of fellowship.
Though I got the fellowship, I didn't get the professional development program (which I preferred). But all the same God is still faithful.

Another place I have my attention is the Enugu south axis. Ozalla, Akegbe-Ugwu, Amechi Awkunanaw, Akpasha and Amodu zone, all the way down to Ituku and even as far as Isu-Awaa if I can get something along the road.

My attraction is the relative ease of entering the nerve center of Enugu from the Port Harcourt express, zooming into Independence layout and New Haven areas in just about 15 minutes from the towns I mentioned.

Hello guys. It turned out to be real afterall. Just that the original address is American Corner and no Barack Obama included.
I did my interview today afternoon. Three panelists from the US embassy. One white male (head of the team), one white female and a Nigerian (I suppose). They introduced themselves with their English names.
Questions revolved around your proposal but be sure to know them well enough to receive twisted questions.
Lasted between 10 to 13mins. Checked my passport for identification. The head of team said they received 15k apps from Naija alone but approved 600 for the SF and will need about 100 when they are done.
He also said Washington has the final say after their recommendation.
Overall good interview, testing if you really are up to what you wrote.

Greetings Spyder...I want to know if it's possible to cast a smaller parapet than this (for example instead of spreading the rod over the 3 bends I see in yours to 2 bends only)? This is just to know how to reduce cost to a max of 250k. Everybody talks of parapet as a must in any new house.

The current status of the project, we have completed the cast of the concrete fascia, roofing will start anytime next year.

Final pictures...I am hugely proud and many of my peers that visited the site were impressed. Standard quality. Gbadexy thank you and looking forward to working with you again.

Here are preliminary pictures...the painter is kinda slow (though he claims he has to clean the dirty walls very well). He used two coats as prescribed by Gbadexy. In this pics, he hasn't finished the edges but this is the overall look and peeps around are all already interested in the orange color. I will (hopefully) post the room pics 2morrow.
