My personal experience. I had a 3.5Kva solar system set up by SolarEdge (he is on nairaland) in Jan 2023. 2 Luminous 220A batteries and 4 300w panels. It cost me roughly about 1.4/1.5m. I use it alongside govt electricity which can be epileptic 50% of the time. Pros. When there is a long time power outage eg vandalization or downtime. 1. I run the freezer from 9am to 4pm. 2. I can wash during that time. 3. TV and fans are always on 4. I am on postpaid metering and my bills reduced by about 20 to 30% or so.
Cons. 1. I rarely iron with it even with high sunlight 2. I can't pump with it.
Interestingly in this over 18months I have bought not more than 10 liters of fuel for emergency pumping and ironing.
I have been very happy with this set up and only hope to add 2 more batteries to tap mlre sunlight during raining season.
dangoteinlaw: This is one problem am having with the solar discussion, i am yet to get any reviews and feedback from those actually using it, rather what we read is “my friend” “my neighbor” “the one i installed last month for a client”. I have a neighbor across my fence with over 12 panels and the security lights are so dimmed that a candle is even brighter. I am yet to see a company that runs on solar, i was driving by a filling station the other day with over 12panels on their roof yet the generator sound was as loud so what were the panels installed for?
Maybe in the nearest future solar will become better but now its a waste of funds.
If am to spend 7m on something i expect my Ac, water pump, Tv, washing machine and mico wave to be working because that is what i use my generator for. Don’t tell me to install a solar and you now go around to give me a list of what i should not use while on solar. Just a small mini rechargeable fan you asking me to turn of my light bulbs after spending 7m abeg make it make sense.
Please why do you rep this Norrenbergee? Do let me know.
You mentioned it alongside SFs.
emmasoft: @Grupo this is what happened, the mutual fund business of investment one was sold to GTBank when they were to attain the HoldCo structure. Investment One is no longer in the mutual funds business. Your investment is not lost. It's with GTFund managers. Unfortunately, their portal has been down for a long time now. You can only know what you have in your account by sending mail to their customer care requesting your account statement.
You can look the way of Norrenberger if you want to patronize more fund managers. The form is attached.
michlins: I am still your welder doing beautiful metal doors that will outlive your building
Hello Sir. Please what is the cureent price for 24ft tank stand (h beam or good steel) now for Imo State? To carry one or two 500 gallons. What is the shortest delivery time including mounting it?
I might just settle for one or two socket for kids rooms (with 2.5mm). And as you rightly guessed, the house is rarely used. Once or twice a year. That is the major challenge. Not over spending but still buy quality.
Also, thanks for the info on LED lights not needing earthing. I will hold on tightly to that.
topsy23: Using 1.5mm for socket not really advisable BUT if the number of socket on that circuit is not more than 3 or max is 4nos. Remember most of this sockets are redundant for weeks without using them. Also, make sure no heating appliance is plugged to them . The permissible current for the 1.5mm cable is 23A..
The 1mm is for Traveller (for 2-way switching). Most of the LED light has no earth terminal

I am still wondering if anyone tried this awesome idea when it was shared? I would like to know the consistency of the screed mix and if the screed brush was just for application and no smoothening?
there is a very very cheap way to achieve dat with less than 50k (depending on the size of your project) and to me its best, becos it does not peel off after sometime like that of top bond nd pop combination
in south here, its called plaster screeding, WHY because, its goes along with your plastering
as soon as the walls is plastered and allowed to dry (to the point if you apply force on it won't spoil the job) you mix few quantity of pop cement with water nd add a little quantity of black cement nd stir properly
use a screeding brush to apply the solution on your plastered walls and smooth with sand paper wen dry
its very beautiful (very smooth nd cellophane like walls) its the cheapest method you can get nd it last longer than top bond method which paints usually peels off on most occasions
I used just one bag of pop cement for both inside, outside, and parapet screeding for my 4bedroom bungalow with labour not up to 40k. It was done by those doing the plastering
the attacted fence including the four sides inside fence walls (100 by 50) was done with half bag of pop cement. labour was less than 30k.
Sorry did you say 850k for this kichen cabinet set up i am looking at using HDF? Or are you talking about a much bigger set up?
Seems a lot ooo IMO
hamtabfawaz: I mainly use two types of boards for my kitchen setup. standard HDF or HDF high gloss. For Standard HDF = ₦850K . HDF high gloss = ₦1.3M NB: prices are subject to change.
You can send me a DM on whatsapp & request for videos of previous projects. 09122348437
drLammy: You can apply at Force CID office at Alagbin in Lagos. Although it can also be done without having to be physically present depending on how you want
Really? What of the biometric capture? The policeman contact at Ikoyi says physical capture is a must with the new IG.
praise010: Please house, help me critique this Plan oh.... It's a 4 bed duplex I want to build in my villa.
Your suggestions will be appreciated
I am impressed with this design. I am not an architect but with a footage of 105sqm it is a well managed plan.
My only small additions are 1. Let the Master room door open inwards. 2. I will remove the walk in closet and make the wardrobes bigger by resting on the long walls of the room. 3. I personally dont like too much walls so i will remove the upper lounge walls and it will feel bigger. 4. I hope the rooms are cross ventilated. 5. ADD A STORE FOR THE KITCHEN
sonnie10: Those woods might not be available in Nigeria
Jiust me thinking. What if one gets these very old wooden doors, spray anti termite on them, dry and sandpaper them, use gloss primer on them, cut them to small sizes, do some joinery and put them as cabinet doors as @person2person said? I am sure we will have some old good woods that may substitute the foreign ones.
Person2person: Yes, it's our usual practice to design first and I have done it for every person that contact me for jobs here and off here. At my busiest time, I may just send a free hand sketch of the intended arrangements.
What if one wants this type of cabinet? Hardwood and rustic. Will it be more expensive?
@topsy and @twinskenny and to anyother with valuable information....
