GMB is a man of good constant character. His political enemies know this which is why they have worked so hard to change perception, failing to tackle any constructive issues along the way. I pray GEJ agrees to a presidential debate so the country will have full view of his incapacity and ineptitude, live and direct. Ndigbos should realise that the way they vote will have an effect on how they are perceived, nationally, and there will be repercussions. #change |
FastShipping:Thank you for answering the nonsense. People are awaiting salary and they see the President's friends gathering 21billion for his campaign with 1billion from governors that haven't paid? At Christmas time when they are trying to buy chicken parts, because turkey has become a dream to most. The president says stupid things like 'I'm working on an anti-corruption plan' 6yrs after he assumed the presidency? Does he think people are fools? Can he not see how his wife's interference in party matters is causing disaffection in Bayelsa and Rivers just to mention two places? Does he not imagine that as we sat with our families this holiday, many of us uttered prayers for the missing Chibok girls and all others in boko haram captivity? Were many people not scared to travel because kidnapping has become fashionable in many southern parts, and others were afraid of possible fuel price increases? Does he ever give the impression that he understands and feels the publics pain and frustrations? Was phcn even as good as in the past this holiday season? For a man whom this country and circumstance (no I won't claim it was God) have given so much, does he work like an appreciative person? Please let him just go, and then he will find out that his friends and supposed achievements are equally illusory. Even his own local government remains a wretched outpost and for all the militant billionaires he has created, life has worsened in the delta. The pdp should have been bold enough to replace him, but they will pay dearly for that mistake, come February. #change #GMB #APC |
Dickson should relax. After the elections he and the whole party structure can decamp enmass to the apc. No more first lady headaches. #change #GMB #APC |
Even thief know him senior. Na wa. Jonathan just cannot catch a break. And if Okupe replies carelessly, the votes of Niger state might just disappear into APC hands. #change |
meccuno:My point is, everyone has complaints so do not imagine that only you have cause to complain. The military is a volunteer force so if people don't apply in numbers, and traditionally we southerners have not regarded the military highly (after all we are the ones now screaming about illiterate former generals?). The prejudices we carry as a nation run deep which is why you can enter a bank and know that the management is igbo, hausa or yoruba. If you look at even unions, there is the same rotation and sharing of positions based on 'federal character', and even if you dismiss the 'few ministerial positions', there are other ndigbos here who celebrate them as an achievement under Jonathan. My point is we are so tribalistic we do not look for the best people to do anything, numbers mean more. Even the church has had problems with parishioners insisting on priests and Bishops of their ethnicity. It is the Nigerian mentality that has to change. Pointing fingers at any one region is deceptive. |
LogicPower:Thank you for the needed dose of common sense. #change |
Now let's complain about how the quota system has been violated to favour the south East and south south, under Jonathan. https://www.nairaland.com/2078102/illiteracy-tribalism-south-east-south-south-hijack Facts have emerged that the Federal Government under the leadership of President Ebele Goodluck has grossly violated the federal character principle by appointing large chunk of citizens of the Southeast(SE) and South-south(SS) zones as heads of agencies and parastatals responsible for the financial and economic fate of Nigeria. This is coming just as the Federal Character Commission(FCC) admitted its incapacity to stop the tide due to logistic constraints. Documents obtained by Peoples Daily Weekend reveal that at the head of the pack is the Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, an Ibo from Delta state. Corollary to her position runs a long list of appointees to parastatals and agencies dominated by South-East and South-south zones to the huge detriment of other zones. For instance, in a list marked “Strategic Public Sector Finance/Economy Leaders, March 2014” numbering 26 appointees, 14 heads of strategic agencies all hail from the Ibo-speaking South-East zone, three from South-south, three from South-west(SW), three from North-central(NC), two from North-west (NW)and one from the North-east(NE). Besides Prof. Nwanze Okidegbe, the chief economic adviser to the President, heads of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, Assets Management Company of Nigeria, Investment and Securities Tribunal, National Pension Commission(PENCOM),Bureau of Public Procurement, Debt Management Office, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission; National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission and Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority are all indigenes of the SE. The SS heads the Budget Office, Bank of Industry while the third, Mr Godwin Emefiele is already a Central Bank of Nigeria Governor- designate following the suspension of current holder, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The SW hold offices of the National Insurance Commission, Accountant-General and Infrastructure Bank. The NC has the Auditor-General, Nigerian Export/Import Bank and Bank of Agricuture; the NW with Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation while the NE has only the Federal Mortgage Bank. In the list, the headship of the Federal Inland Revenue Service is yet to be appointed probably due to the concern raised by the Senate over balance in appointments (see lists on page 9 for details). Another expanded list of 65 names including non-finance and economic slots, summarises the dominance of the SE particularly by about 50 percent followed by the SS, a not too significant percentage for the SW while the entire North is grudgingly left with the rest. Peoples Daily Weekend also observes that the moment a position is left by a Northerner through retirement, death or any other cause, most replacement nominees sent to the National Assembly would immediately come from the President’s zone or the SE. Senators also raised this point recently when the list of new CBN non-executive Board members was released. Senators were sharply divided along geo-political lines in a June 27,2013 plenary over the lack of observance of the federal character principle in federal appointments by President Goodluck Jonathan. Many senators argued that President Jonathan’s nominations did not adhere to the principles of federal character as enshrined in Section 14 (3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Senators expressed reservations about the president’s nominations during confirmation of board appointments into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). Senate President David Mark equally expressed reservations about the matter. Although he described the reservations of his colleagues as ‘healthy’, Mark said the day of reckoning would soon come. Mark warned, however, that federal character could not be the ‘end of it all’ at the expense of merit in appointment of Nigerians into government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs). He cautioned that the issue of federal character should not be overstretched. Senators were sharply divided over the confirmation of the appointment of four non-executive members of the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). They are Muhammad Musa Kafarati (North-East), Collons Chike Chikeluba (South-East), Adaba Anthony Adeiza (North-Central) and Ayuli Jemide (South-South). Although they were eventually confirmed, senators insisted that the federal character principle, as enshrined in the constitution, must be followed in all appointments. Senate Minority Whip, Ganiyu Solomon observed that since the South-West was not represented in the list of those nominated for appointments, the remaining slot should be reserved for the zone in the interest of equity and fair play..… |
Even Asari Dokubo has said it... Before more presidential favours came his way no doubt: I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. It is getting more and more difficult to support him, the second niger bridge is another issue. Even his allies are denouncing him. What a shame! https://www.nairaland.com/2077100/pres-jonathan-cant-win-2015 |
Guidette:I was gobsmacked at his ludicrous comments! Soldiers giving their lives daily and he can sit and sneer, while trying to deflect responsibility from the commander in chief. Even the apc is calling for a more robust response to boko haram, but the pdp government is still playing politics with the soldiers lives and Nigeria's territory. Why must soldiers have any complaints at this time of national emergency? The testimony at the court martial betrays the fact that the chain of command in the army is corrupt and the troops can see and feel the effects. Even over this one issue, Jonathan has to go. #change |
PvtParts:I know the problems with the quota system, but at the end of the day, if you get your quota filled, why get embittered about how others fill theirs? Quality was not part of that discussion so conflating the two issues here is a distraction. The same system operates within States, so why is the anger usually directed northwards? Perhaps I will rephrase, the quota system is about a semblance of numerical parity (proportional) and quality issues are not especially considered. |
ola6:Don't be ridiculous. Many Nigerians would have wanted to see fashola contest for the presidency or be vp. His performance in lagos is head and shoulders above the mass of governors. That is not the case with Jonathan, which is why the people want him out! Geddit? On a parting note I will quote Asari Dokubo, who said last year; I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. It is getting more and more difficult to support him, the second niger bridge is another issue. Even his allies are denouncing him. What a shame! https://www.nairaland.com/2077100/pres-jonathan-cant-win-2015 |
PvtParts:You can make your argument without insults, if you have an argument. If Gombe has 500 students quota and Anambra has 500 what is Gombe taking from anambra quota-wise. However they fill that number is their issue, and how Anambra fills it's slot is its own issue. It is about getting balanced numbers/representation, not quality. |
PvtParts:They may have easier access in this example, but my point remains this, if they fill the numbers for their region, how does that impact the numbers of another region? The quota system has never pretended to be about quality. |
PvtParts:Stop looking in the mirror! |
PvtParts:You are simply wrong. Quota system only applies to federal institutions. If the required numbers are filled for every region, how does another region take out of your slot/quota? How can anyone dominate in a quota system? The nysc also has the mission of exposing Nigerians to different places and cultures, and that is a good unity building measure. Your argument is not made. |

Quotable quote I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. This is how a man talks when he doesn't feel the election is close. Now we can say even Asari Dokubo thinks Buhari will make a better president. |
One of the biggest supporters and kinsman of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has declared that the president has lost the support of his political base, the South-south and the South-East owing to the failure of his government to deliver on its promises. Photo: BOMBSHELL: “Pres. Jonathan Can’t Win In 2015″ – Dokubo AsariDokubo-Asari, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said that it would be tough for Jonathan to win the presidential election in 2015 if he decides to run based on the poor showing of his administration. He said that his decision to speak out was for him and others who are ardent supporters of Jonathan not to be blamed for his failure in 2015. He said: “I want to start with an Ijaw proverb, which says: the eyes watched its seven children to death. Instead of advising them, it was just looking at them until they died, while the mouth talked its only child to life and success. “We have continued as Ijaw people and the entire Niger Delta and South-South to support the presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan, but a time has come when silence cannot be golden. “We mainly speak out in issues that are very critical to the survival of our people, the survival of the people of the South-South and the South-East, which happens to be the political base of Goodluck Jonathan. “Jonathan is surrounded by very greedy people who are only in the Presidency to enrich themselves at the expense of Goodluck himself. “This brings us to another Kalabari proverb, which says: where there are elders, a goat cannot be allowed to deliver tied to a stick. “If we don’t talk and we continue to brush it aside, tomorrow we will be blamed and people will say: Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was around when Goodlcuk Jonathan was president and he didn’t talk. “Them I will be an accomplice and accessory after the fact…. “It is alarming because the South-South must have its uninterrupted eight years tenure, which is constitutional. “But with how things are going under Jonathan’s watch, we are afraid that we may not be able to have our eight years tenure because there will be no magic about it if it is going to be one man one vote.” Dokubo-Asari said he will continue to speak out despite the fact that he had benefitted from Jonathan, adding that one of those causing trouble for the President remains the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godsday Orubebe. He said: “I have benefited immensely from Goodluck Jonathan with my stake but benefit alone is not enough to make me to keep quiet when the period is very challenging for our people. “So, some of us are tempted to ask this question: why are all these things happening? “Why has the President allow some ministers like Godsday Orubebe to continue in government? “Everyday people die on the East-West Road. “If Orubebe is incompetent as he has shown himself to be, he should be removed. “Nobody voted for Orubebe. “And why is Orubebe so important to the President that he can’t remove him even in the face of his obvious incompetence and several allegation to corruption? “We feel very ashamed and embarrassed. “Orubebe was one of us. “He was attending meetings with us, sleeping in the ground with us, entering night bus with us and we nominated him to be appointed a minister. “We have gone to him and complained to him that we don’t like they way things are going in his ministry and told him that if the President leaves in 2015 without the completion of the East-West Road, we are finished. “And the man keeps telling us there is no money. “When IBB (former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida) was there, there was money. “When Abacha was there, there was money. “When others were there, there was money. “How come the money disappeared when Jonathan got there? “Jonathan and orubebe will account for the death in the East-West Road. ” On the face-off between Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo-Asari said there was no need for it. He said that no matter what Jonathan feels, he still remains a beneficiary of Obasanjo’s large heartedness. He said: “First, there was no need for Goodluck Jonathan to disagree with Olusegun Obasanjo. “I don’t like Obasanjo. “I don’t like his face. “I hate him. “But he was instrumental in bringing Goodluck Jonathan to power. “And the greedy people around Jonathan have not managed him enough to the extent that the President and people around him will allow Jonathan to disagree with Obasanjo openly “And if you check, all the people who supported Goodluck Jonathan and fought to bring him to power, have openly disagreed with him. “What was the cause of these disagreements? “These are the questions we want to put to the president. “Some people say Obasanjo is manipulating Goodluck Jonathan, that is why Jonathan is disagreeing with him and we ask: what has Goodluck Jonathan’s government achieved to show that it is a departure from other governments that have existed since 1956? “For us, nothing has changed. “It is still business as usual. “So what are the advice that Obasanjo gave to Jonathan that were so difficult for him to fulfill, that made him decide to fall out with Obasanjo? “Obasanjo was instrumental and manipulated the process that illegally removed Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State and installed Jonathan as governor, made him vice president, fought for him to become acting president and also fought for him to become president of Nigeria. “Apart from Obasanjo, there are so many people who supported Goodluck Jonathan, some have been pushed out by those who were not there to give him any support, while some others are trapped and they cannot talk. I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. It is getting more and more difficult to support him, the second niger bridge is another issue. Even his allies are denouncing him. What a shame! http://www.naij.com/45307-53429.html |
This is the kind of Senator Nigeria needs. We know his record on human rights, and good governance. Kudos. |
Bad hangover? |
LRNZH:We have a date with history on February 14. Keep mobilising and challenging all their lies. Better days are coming, once Jonathan is thrown out. #change |
noblezone:Jonathan has had 6yrs to persuade Nigerians that the country and economy are safe in his hands. He has failed to do that. Buhari may not be the best man, but out of the ten candidates for the presidency, and with the APC behind him, he is certainly regarded as head and shoulders above Jonathan. All that born to rule nonsense is a futile attempt to generate ethnic resentment and you should be ashamed for that. Even a child knows that after Buhari's tenure, the presidency will most likely rotate to the west. People organise and mobilise for power. Don't blame Nigeria if politics in the East is a weak mess. |
It is good she did not answer his calls. Now the message has been delivered in public. Chikena! |
LRNZH:My brother, I understand and really do not like the quota system but I understand it's purpose. I was just wondering how he could mention quota and still accuse a section of the country of dominating the system. He can't have it both ways. |
Fashola has a point. Jonathan has been entrusted with our oil revenues at the peak, and he has achieved very little. Now he wants us to feel the pain of his failure? What has happened to all the trillions the nation has earned in the last 6 years? Has the textile industry been revived? Education/hospitals improved? Jobs created? Even EFCC and inec are crying out for funds. Emergency loan to go and buy weapons as if boko haram just started in January. Even the Niger Delta ministry, what significant thing has it achieved? Jonathan's government will be the symbol of government irresponsibility and failure for generations to come. He has to go! #change #GMB #APC |
Logic fail. If there is a quota system did any region not get their share? You understand the meaning of quota, ko? |
Morkavictor:It is not an assumption. The facts are in their defence statement. Even medical services were not available to them. Try to place some value on their lives, even as you expect them to face mortal threats on your behalf. #smdh #change |

Have they returned his money? That is how channels can show integrity. However it appears stupid for them to have begun broadcast of a program who's content they had not taken the time to vet. I hope their oga at the top stays principled. #change #GMB #APC |
Wahala90:This is so unreal, it's hilarious. Like seriously!? |
In his own words Speaking with United Nations diplomats on Monday, 31st January 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Goodluck Jonathan made this promise: “If I’m voted into power, within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make a significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything… Three years later, in January 2014, in anticipation of his 2015 presidential bid, the same Goodluck Jonathan issued a six-moth ultimatum to power companies to hurriedly address the power situation in the country. Six months came, and six months went, and today, Nigeria’s power generation and supply is at an all time low. http://saharareporters.com/2014/10/31/non-transformation-agenda-what-president-jonathan-said-power-timi-frank |
