PoliticsRe: GEJ's Views on GMB: The Buhari We Know by Change2015(m): 10:13am On Jan 06, 2015
GMB is a man of good constant character. His political enemies know this which is why they have worked so hard to change perception, failing to tackle any constructive issues along the way. I pray GEJ agrees to a presidential debate so the country will have full view of his incapacity and ineptitude, live and direct. Ndigbos should realise that the way they vote will have an effect on how they are perceived, nationally, and there will be repercussions.

PoliticsRe: So Far, GEJ Running A Poor Campaign! by Change2015(m): 9:58am On Jan 06, 2015
FastShipping:
I am not GEJ supporter but I agree with most of what you listed except the last part. The problems of GEJ's campaign are not limited to what you have listed and disagree with you on the last part where you advised he moved his campaign team to Yenegoa. Communication apparatus, accommodation, comfort and security are available in Abuja unlike Yenegoa. They can get their messages out of Abuja faster than Yenegoa. How do you expect someone like Abati, FFK, Okupe, and other campaign team operatives to function in a land that is foreign to them? Don't forget, GEJ said on national tv recently that "commercial kdnappings" are going on in that part of the country.

Here are some reasons why GEJ campaign is in disarray:

1. Over reliance on old discredited bumper sticker accusation against Buhari which people are not buying into anymore. For example, Islamization of Nigeria, Boko Haram sponsor tag, Sharia general tag are not sticking. In fact, the general has been buoyed by those tags in recent months. People have done research on their own and found out the general did non of what he has been accused of.

2. Yemi Osinbajo Factor. Choosing the Pastor/Professor of Law was a masterstroke. It took out gas out of GEJ's campaign. GEJ's campaign operatives e.g FFK, Okupe and co were hoping for Fashola. Instead, Buhari chose Osinbajo and that ran gas out of their tank in GEJ's camp. GEJ's camp led by FFK didn't see that coming. They had prepared and positioned their war machineries against Muslim/Muslim ticket. grin grin grin grin

3. Amaechi Factor. They were busy mocking Amaechi grin. Instead of getting out message against Osinbajo after he was chosen by Buhari, GEJ team spent the next two weeks attacking Amaechi for losing out V.P slot. Was Amechi ever in the running? They got on TV accusing Amaechi of spending 33 Billion naira, 17 Billion Naira and 20 Billion Naira. GEJ had three of his associates on TV talking about three different numbers of what Amaechi spent on Buhari campaign and people didn't buy any of it. Only a foo.l would have believed Amaechi spent that on Buhari's campaign.

4. Co-Ordinated Attack by APC. This was another masterstroke by APC in the last two weeks. There have been relentless attack from APC team against GEJ in the last two weeks. Let it be either from Obasanjo, Fashola, Lai Mohmmed, Oshiomohle, Aregbe and co. These people were talking about depletion of Foreign Reserve, oil theft, Federation Account, etc. GEJ was there when some rogues were donating billions of Naira to his campaign. The national dailies, TV, radio were in full broadcast mode when this happened. This very event did not help GEJ. It hurts GEJ in the short and long term. At the time Okonja Iweala was preparing the nation for austerity, GEJ was participating in an event where billionaires were donating billions to him while the country was watching. GEJ was hammered by all for this show of carelessness and rob it in your face attitude. In fact, some PDP politicians grumbled quietly about this.

5. Lack of Transparency during PDP Primaries. The entire country saw how PDP primaries and APC primaries went. Nigerians were surprised with the way APC conducted their primaries across the nation. Most especially the presidential primary was excellent. On the other hand, PDP primaries were marred by fraud, imposition and decampment. As a matter of fact, there are states where PDP still have no candidate on the ballot as at today.

6. Naira Decline and Late/Non Payment of Salaries. The Naira free fall and non payment of salaries in many ministries, and parastatals are hitting people hard. My blood brother got appointment letter in August and resumed in September but he has not been paid a penny. My brother is not alone. Many parents couldn't celebrate Christmas as they wished because they were not paid the last two to three months salaries and areas before December 31st.

7. Negative News around GEJ. There is no day that goes by in the last month without negative news about GEJ, PEJ, PDP, GEJ associates or aides. Ask yourself how many positive news has come GEJ's way in the last two months.

8. The visit to IBB was a bad move. Many Yorubas detest IBB for what he did in 1993. It was on TV for about a week that GEJ went to Minna to visit IBB with GEJ appearing on TV talking about visiting his father and how much he had missed his father. His behavior was unpresidential. While at it, GEJ was behaving like a drunk man. Saying on national TV on December 28 that "tomorrow is New Year". That was a characteristic of a clueless man being displayed on national television.

9. Lack of Political Gurus. GEJ does not have political operatives who know their onions. Why would a president go on TV and say to the nation that he's been given wrong advice by people around him. Then followed by GEJ saying he was finally coming up with his own anti corruption plan. Really? grin

Political season is when people pay more attention to what is going on around them. The whole country was watching while GEJ was killing himself with kindergarten mistakes. Many people would have looked and shook their head that the man has no ideas of his. Who are his advisers? Who writes and vets his speeches? It seems he has political kindergarteners around him.

Don't let anyone deceive you. GEJ is truly a worried man today. He is more worried today than he was six months ago. He is not sure of what is going on. Those pictures of worried man you see are true pictures of the state of things with GEJ.
Thank you for answering the nonsense.
People are awaiting salary and they see the President's friends gathering 21billion for his campaign with 1billion from governors that haven't paid? At Christmas time when they are trying to buy chicken parts, because turkey has become a dream to most. The president says stupid things like 'I'm working on an anti-corruption plan' 6yrs after he assumed the presidency? Does he think people are fools? Can he not see how his wife's interference in party matters is causing disaffection in Bayelsa and Rivers just to mention two places? Does he not imagine that as we sat with our families this holiday, many of us uttered prayers for the missing Chibok girls and all others in boko haram captivity? Were many people not scared to travel because kidnapping has become fashionable in many southern parts, and others were afraid of possible fuel price increases? Does he ever give the impression that he understands and feels the publics pain and frustrations? Was phcn even as good as in the past this holiday season? For a man whom this country and circumstance (no I won't claim it was God) have given so much, does he work like an appreciative person?

Please let him just go, and then he will find out that his friends and supposed achievements are equally illusory. Even his own local government remains a wretched outpost and for all the militant billionaires he has created, life has worsened in the delta. The pdp should have been bold enough to replace him, but they will pay dearly for that mistake, come February.

well.....going by what you posted as fact,I believe what you mean is that the only time their is fairness in federal appointment is when all the FG parastatal are dominated by the North.......that's when it is equitable??.....how can a few ministerial positions be compared to the thousands of post being held by the North in the NASS,army, navy, air force,police,customs...... federal character, quota system......methods used to frustrate the speed of development in the south.......how can we as a people encourage mediocrity? The truth is,if Nigeria decides to restructure and do the right thing by throwing the federal character none sense in the trash,we all know who it would affect........
My point is, everyone has complaints so do not imagine that only you have cause to complain. The military is a volunteer force so if people don't apply in numbers, and traditionally we southerners have not regarded the military highly (after all we are the ones now screaming about illiterate former generals?). The prejudices we carry as a nation run deep which is why you can enter a bank and know that the management is igbo, hausa or yoruba. If you look at even unions, there is the same rotation and sharing of positions based on 'federal character', and even if you dismiss the 'few ministerial positions', there are other ndigbos here who celebrate them as an achievement under Jonathan. My point is we are so tribalistic we do not look for the best people to do anything, numbers mean more. Even the church has had problems with parishioners insisting on priests and Bishops of their ethnicity. It is the Nigerian mentality that has to change. Pointing fingers at any one region is deceptive.

LogicPower:
I have NEVER been interested in the kind of ethnic 'warfare' going on NL, but if I must comment on this thread, my observations would be as follows:

1. To be fair to GEJ, he may not necessarily be personally responsible for these lopsided strategic appointments that clearly favoured the SE region, though that would not be a good excuse for him; I believe a shrewd person like NOI, with her intimidating CV, can easily take advantage of the weakness and cluelessness of a zoologist leader like GEJ to easily make him rubber-stamp any appointments she wants him to approve, in the economic field that he apparently knows next to nothing.

2. But if the truth must be told, this kind of barefaced nepotism has been going on in this country right from the time we started to govern our affairs as an independent country. And each of the 3 major ethnic groups (Hausas, Yorubas and Igbos) are GUILTY of it; and of recent, the Ijaws seem to have joined them as well, with their newly found political power.

3. Because of my profound contempt for the thieving Nigerian elite, I hardly EVER care where they come from, what is their tribe, religion or region; as long as they are corrupt, they deserve nothing from us except contempt and condemnation, simply because of the way their heartless looting is destroying our country and condemning millions of ordinary people into a life of misery and hardship.

4. However, as the Nigerian masses begin to WAKE UP and fight to take back their country from the corrupt and greedy elite, through the power of vote, we hope this kind of flagrant nepotism would one day be a thing of the past.
Thank you for the needed dose of common sense.

PoliticsRe: Buhari: A Need To End Mediocrity And Quota System. by Change2015(m): 1:13am On Jan 06, 2015
Now let's complain about how the quota system has been violated to favour the south East and south south, under Jonathan.
https://www.nairaland.com/2078102/illiteracy-tribalism-south-east-south-south-hijack

Facts have emerged that the Federal Government under the leadership of President Ebele Goodluck has grossly violated the federal character principle by appointing large chunk of citizens of the Southeast(SE) and South-south(SS) zones as heads of agencies and parastatals responsible for the financial and economic fate of Nigeria.

This is coming just as the Federal Character Commission(FCC) admitted its incapacity to stop the tide due to logistic constraints.

Documents obtained by Peoples Daily Weekend reveal that at the head of the pack is the Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, an Ibo from Delta state.

Corollary to her position runs a long list of appointees to parastatals and agencies dominated by South-East and South-south zones to the huge detriment of other zones.

For instance, in a list marked “Strategic Public Sector Finance/Economy Leaders, March 2014” numbering 26 appointees, 14 heads of strategic agencies all hail from the Ibo-speaking South-East zone, three from South-south, three from South-west(SW), three from North-central(NC), two from North-west (NW)and one from the North-east(NE).

Besides Prof. Nwanze Okidegbe, the chief economic adviser to the President, heads of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, Assets Management Company of Nigeria, Investment and Securities Tribunal, National Pension Commission(PENCOM),Bureau of Public Procurement, Debt Management Office, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission; National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission and Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority are all indigenes of the SE.

The SS heads the Budget Office, Bank of Industry while the third, Mr Godwin Emefiele is already a Central Bank of Nigeria Governor- designate following the suspension of current holder, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The SW hold offices of the National Insurance Commission, Accountant-General and Infrastructure Bank. The NC has the Auditor-General, Nigerian Export/Import Bank and Bank of Agricuture; the NW with Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation while the NE has only the Federal Mortgage Bank. In the list, the headship of the Federal Inland Revenue Service is yet to be appointed probably due to the concern raised by the Senate over balance in appointments (see lists on page 9 for details).

Another expanded list of 65 names including non-finance and economic slots, summarises the dominance of the SE particularly by about 50 percent followed by the SS, a not too significant percentage for the SW while the entire North is grudgingly left with the rest.

Peoples Daily Weekend also observes that the moment a position is left by a Northerner through retirement, death or any other cause, most replacement nominees sent to the National Assembly would immediately come from the President’s zone or the SE.

Senators also raised this point recently when the list of new CBN non-executive Board members was released.

Senators were sharply divided along geo-political lines in a June 27,2013 plenary over the lack of observance of the federal character principle in federal appointments by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Many senators argued that President Jonathan’s nominations did not adhere to the principles of federal character as enshrined in Section 14 (3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Senators expressed reservations about the president’s nominations during confirmation of board appointments into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Senate President David Mark equally expressed reservations about the matter. Although he described the reservations of his colleagues as ‘healthy’, Mark said the day of reckoning would soon come.

Mark warned, however, that federal character could not be the ‘end of it all’ at the expense of merit in appointment of Nigerians into government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

He cautioned that the issue of federal character should not be overstretched.

Senators were sharply divided over the confirmation of the appointment of four non-executive members of the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

They are Muhammad Musa Kafarati (North-East), Collons Chike Chikeluba (South-East), Adaba Anthony Adeiza (North-Central) and Ayuli Jemide (South-South).

Although they were eventually confirmed, senators insisted that the federal character principle, as enshrined in the constitution, must be followed in all appointments.

Senate Minority Whip, Ganiyu Solomon observed that since the South-West was not represented in the list of those nominated for appointments, the remaining slot should be reserved for the zone in the interest of equity and fair play..…

You sit behind your computer or phone and write nonsense while our brave soldiers are being slaughtered by a ragtag militia that should not have existed past 2011. If not for the president and his corrupt cabinet, why should we be having the same problem of unequipped soldiers with respect to Boko Haram even after TRILLIONS of naira has been supposedly spent to equip them? Who is lying? The president or soldiers? Or does Boko Haram have a bigger budget than our army?
These are questions you should ask instead of castigating anyone who is against GEJ. The amount of brevity those soldiers have in one strand of hair is 10 times greater than you will ever have in your lifetime.

GMB 2015.
I was gobsmacked at his ludicrous comments! Soldiers giving their lives daily and he can sit and sneer, while trying to deflect responsibility from the commander in chief. Even the apc is calling for a more robust response to boko haram, but the pdp government is still playing politics with the soldiers lives and Nigeria's territory. Why must soldiers have any complaints at this time of national emergency? The testimony at the court martial betrays the fact that the chain of command in the army is corrupt and the troops can see and feel the effects. Even over this one issue, Jonathan has to go.

The quota system is not done in fairness. If Gombe and Anambra have the same slots and the same cut off mark that will be ok but a situation whereby the prerequisite qualifications and cut off mark make it easier for an applicant from Gombe promotes mediocrity.

This is why basic education is not given the neccessary attention by their northern governors since whatever they score will still ensure they get placement.

Do you now understand how the system promotes mediocrity and laziness
I know the problems with the quota system, but at the end of the day, if you get your quota filled, why get embittered about how others fill theirs? Quality was not part of that discussion so conflating the two issues here is a distraction. The same system operates within States, so why is the anger usually directed northwards? Perhaps I will rephrase, the quota system is about a semblance of numerical parity (proportional) and quality issues are not especially considered.

Is your IQ turned off?
You can make your argument without insults, if you have an argument. If Gombe has 500 students quota and Anambra has 500 what is Gombe taking from anambra quota-wise. However they fill that number is their issue, and how Anambra fills it's slot is its own issue. It is about getting balanced numbers/representation, not quality.

The quota system mandates that all regions must be represented irrespective of if any particular region could not meet the laid down prerequisite condition.

For example, admissions into unity school adopt the quota system which will keep a slot for northerners irrespective of their score in the common entrance meaning that a child from Enugu will have a cut off mark of 300 as against somebody from Yobe who will have to meet a cut off just above 10.

What this means a northern child has it easier to get admission into a unity school.
They may have easier access in this example, but my point remains this, if they fill the numbers for their region, how does that impact the numbers of another region? The quota system has never pretended to be about quality.

The quota makes it difficult for the average southerner to make it into the civil service and military while the north can easily get a slot based on very low academic requirement placed on them.

You are here defending rubish on the Internet while your mates from the north are being positioned to be leaders tomorrow.

I bet most of you here served in the north as teachers in remote areas which you could not wait to leave but your northern counterparts were placed in corporate headquarters in the south were after completion they were retained while you roamed the streets looking for jobs after completion of your service.

Keep deciding yourselves. The change you want is to return Nigeria to a mediocre level
You are simply wrong. Quota system only applies to federal institutions. If the required numbers are filled for every region, how does another region take out of your slot/quota? How can anyone dominate in a quota system?
The nysc also has the mission of exposing Nigerians to different places and cultures, and that is a good unity building measure. Your argument is not made.

Politics“pres. Jonathan Can’t Win In 2015″ – Dokubo Asari by Change2015(op): 11:49am On Jan 05, 2015
One of the biggest supporters and kinsman of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has declared that the president has lost the support of his political base, the South-south and the South-East owing to the failure of his government to deliver on its promises.

Photo: BOMBSHELL: “Pres. Jonathan Can’t Win In 2015″ – Dokubo AsariDokubo-Asari, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said that it would be tough for Jonathan to win the presidential election in 2015 if he decides to run based on the poor showing of his administration.

He said that his decision to speak out was for him and others who are ardent supporters of Jonathan not to be blamed for his failure in 2015.

He said: “I want to start with an Ijaw proverb, which says: the eyes watched its seven children to death. Instead of advising them, it was just looking at them until they died, while the mouth talked its only child to life and success.

“We have continued as Ijaw people and the entire Niger Delta and South-South to support the presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan, but a time has come when silence cannot be golden.

“We mainly speak out in issues that are very critical to the survival of our people, the survival of the people of the South-South and the South-East, which happens to be the political base of Goodluck Jonathan.

“Jonathan is surrounded by very greedy people who are only in the Presidency to enrich themselves at the expense of Goodluck himself.

“This brings us to another Kalabari proverb, which says: where there are elders, a goat cannot be allowed to deliver tied to a stick.

“If we don’t talk and we continue to brush it aside, tomorrow we will be blamed and people will say: Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was around when Goodlcuk Jonathan was president and he didn’t talk.

“Them I will be an accomplice and accessory after the fact….

“It is alarming because the South-South must have its uninterrupted eight years tenure, which is constitutional.

“But with how things are going under Jonathan’s watch, we are afraid that we may not be able to have our eight years tenure because there will be no magic about it if it is going to be one man one vote.”

Dokubo-Asari said he will continue to speak out despite the fact that he had benefitted from Jonathan, adding that one of those causing trouble for the President remains the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godsday Orubebe.

He said: “I have benefited immensely from Goodluck Jonathan with my stake but benefit alone is not enough to make me to keep quiet when the period is very challenging for our people.

“So, some of us are tempted to ask this question: why are all these things happening?

“Why has the President allow some ministers like Godsday Orubebe to continue in government?

“Everyday people die on the East-West Road.

“If Orubebe is incompetent as he has shown himself to be, he should be removed.

“Nobody voted for Orubebe.

And why is Orubebe so important to the President that he can’t remove him even in the face of his obvious incompetence and several allegation to corruption?

“We feel very ashamed and embarrassed.

“Orubebe was one of us.

“He was attending meetings with us, sleeping in the ground with us, entering night bus with us and we nominated him to be appointed a minister.

“We have gone to him and complained to him that we don’t like they way things are going in his ministry and told him that if the President leaves in 2015 without the completion of the East-West Road, we are finished.

“And the man keeps telling us there is no money.

“When IBB (former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida) was there, there was money.

“When Abacha was there, there was money.

“When others were there, there was money.

“How come the money disappeared when Jonathan got there?

Jonathan and orubebe will account for the death in the East-West Road.

On the face-off between Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo-Asari said there was no need for it.

He said that no matter what Jonathan feels, he still remains a beneficiary of Obasanjo’s large heartedness.

He said: “First, there was no need for Goodluck Jonathan to disagree with Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I don’t like Obasanjo.

“I don’t like his face.

“I hate him.

“But he was instrumental in bringing Goodluck Jonathan to power.

“And the greedy people around Jonathan have not managed him enough to the extent that the President and people around him will allow Jonathan to disagree with Obasanjo openly

“And if you check, all the people who supported Goodluck Jonathan and fought to bring him to power, have openly disagreed with him.

“What was the cause of these disagreements?

“These are the questions we want to put to the president.

“Some people say Obasanjo is manipulating Goodluck Jonathan, that is why Jonathan is disagreeing with him and we ask: what has Goodluck Jonathan’s government achieved to show that it is a departure from other governments that have existed since 1956?

“For us, nothing has changed.

“It is still business as usual.

“So what are the advice that Obasanjo gave to Jonathan that were so difficult for him to fulfill, that made him decide to fall out with Obasanjo?

“Obasanjo was instrumental and manipulated the process that illegally removed Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State and installed Jonathan as governor, made him vice president, fought for him to become acting president and also fought for him to become president of Nigeria.

“Apart from Obasanjo, there are so many people who supported Goodluck Jonathan, some have been pushed out by those who were not there to give him any support, while some others are trapped and they cannot talk.

I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. It is getting more and more difficult to support him, the second niger bridge is another issue. Even his allies are denouncing him. What a shame!

I am still wondering whether the congregation of the "Sai Buhari" crusade include those who tested the Buhari experience or is it just made up the younger generation who bought the dummy of "Buhari as the best thing to happen to Nigeria" and of course the religious fanatics of who sees him as the symbol of the supremacy of the spirit of "born to rule".

I was an eye witness of how Buhari brought down the prices of goods.

He set up a task force who went round the citites with vans. One of them would enter a shop and ask for an item and the price. If the onwer who bought that item at N350 (for example) says N400, he would be arrested, has his goods taken away and his shop would be locked. Reason, the Govt had announced the price of that thing to be N150. That was buhari's magic economics.

No one could challenge him because he had the gun. He was so clueless on what to do with power and was just tyranical. Yes, we were cueing up and stuffs like that, not because we had become well cultured, but rather because there was gun behind our back.

Nigerians will diappoint Buhari since he won't rule by decrees any more and the old man will inturn disappoint Ngierians becuase they will see that he is not he man they think he is.

Jonathan remains the best option in these dispensation. PDP was the shape OBJ gave it, Jonathan is given the PDP a new shape.

Let us not allow sentiments and emotions to take decisions that will take Nigeria backwards.
Jonathan has had 6yrs to persuade Nigerians that the country and economy are safe in his hands. He has failed to do that. Buhari may not be the best man, but out of the ten candidates for the presidency, and with the APC behind him, he is certainly regarded as head and shoulders above Jonathan. All that born to rule nonsense is a futile attempt to generate ethnic resentment and you should be ashamed for that. Even a child knows that after Buhari's tenure, the presidency will most likely rotate to the west. People organise and mobilise for power. Don't blame Nigeria if politics in the East is a weak mess.

.

Quota means equitable number of positions or resource allocation for each geopolitical zone and ethnic identity.
It is different from Affirmative action which is what the OP is implying here. Affirmative action is reducing the threshold needed for a certain disadvantaged group of people to qualify for a position or resource allocation with less qualifications.

That said, I do not like Quota system but if it is what works for Nigeria's unity then so be it.

Also, GMB is not necessarily an advocate of quota system per se. Otherwise, Dora Akunyili (of blessed memory) wouldn't have been what she became.

GMB 2015 for Equity
My brother, I understand and really do not like the quota system but I understand it's purpose. I was just wondering how he could mention quota and still accuse a section of the country of dominating the system. He can't have it both ways.

Fashola has a point. Jonathan has been entrusted with our oil revenues at the peak, and he has achieved very little. Now he wants us to feel the pain of his failure? What has happened to all the trillions the nation has earned in the last 6 years? Has the textile industry been revived? Education/hospitals improved? Jobs created? Even EFCC and inec are crying out for funds. Emergency loan to go and buy weapons as if boko haram just started in January. Even the Niger Delta ministry, what significant thing has it achieved? Jonathan's government will be the symbol of government irresponsibility and failure for generations to come. He has to go!

Mr man the UN has no right to interfer in our affairs, and don't just assume the soilders are not properly equipped.
It is not an assumption. The facts are in their defence statement. Even medical services were not available to them. Try to place some value on their lives, even as you expect them to face mortal threats on your behalf. #smdh

Have they returned his money? That is how channels can show integrity. However it appears stupid for them to have begun broadcast of a program who's content they had not taken the time to vet. I hope their oga at the top stays principled.

PoliticsRe: President Goodluck Jonathan’s 91 Campaign Promises – He Delivered How Many? by Change2015(m): 3:39pm On Jan 04, 2015
In his own words

Speaking with United Nations diplomats on Monday, 31st January 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Goodluck Jonathan made this promise:

If I’m voted into power, within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make a significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything…

Three years later, in January 2014, in anticipation of his 2015 presidential bid, the same Goodluck Jonathan issued a six-moth ultimatum to power companies to hurriedly address the power situation in the country. Six months came, and six months went, and today, Nigeria’s power generation and supply is at an all time low.
