So i've seen people call Agbor, Uyo and all sorts of places but nobody mentioned Ilorin. Ilorin won't be in my list of top 6 Nigerian cities(maybe top 10), but is it that Ilorin people are not on NL or they're being very objective? |
Psychedelia: What!!?Just run from them! |
Btruth: - Kano (the most commercialize city after Lagos)Do you mean Luanda? |
safarigirl: did you know they won Asamoah Gyan's club- al Ain in a pre-tournament friendly by a margin of 3-0? Yet some people will come and say they're too young. 18 year old Januzaj plays for Man Utd, by March next year, Kelechi will be 18, so what is it?Michel Bastos' club too. But i don't know if both players played that game. |
EmmyDe25: ITS a no-brainer mehnn..... ABU is way finer. I actually used to think the both schools come neck-to-neck in terms of aesthetism.... But with these pictures..... OAU is just an embellished and overhyped school... ABU all the way!!Mass Comm u dey be dat? |
Eze Promoe: Lagos and Abuja are not the only major cities.Your post is the most correct, except that I'll replace Enugu with Kaduna. I know it's unfair that the SouthEast has no representative city, but Kaduna just has to be there. If not for population(even though they're close now), Kaduna would have been ahead of Ibadan too. Kaduna has almost all the key military installations in Nigeria and a big cosmopolitan(unlike Enugu) population. |
Jewel Bukky: My able doctor, Ur gurl is cming!Whatsapp soon. |
musty001: #5oo kini?? I rather sleep in a church...atleast i knw God x wit meHonestly Musty, 500 is good considering the fact that breakfast is included and you don't have to spend money in a canteen in the mornings. You can as well opt for the 500 for two days without breakfast option. You'll have a reasonable amount of comfort leaving you to focus on what brought you - the exam. In fact, your water will be boiled for you (and that's a big deal here!). I remember in my time, I had friends who payed between 8,000 - 10,000 per night at places like Kongo Conference Hotel and Zaria Hotel and still took transport to the school unlike this one where you'll be lodged inside the school. |
Oh my God! I could have joined my colleagues in pulling ABU up the chart. Can i join midway? Mhyke and Rexsul, where are you please? |
promisechild: I can't see any special thing in those pic.what I can see is just green leavesTor let me lend you my glasses so you can see the clean roads, fine buildings, streetlights and feel that sense of a proper campus layout I'm feeling here. |
Yes, an ABU former VC oversaw this with brilliant support from the Gombe State Govt. For those of you who will like to be there, be not afraid. No Boko Haram. For my Yoruba brethren, i no need tell una say e wa bo o witi witi! |
This is even closer to ABU than the OAU pics. Abeg, o jabo lenu mi o before una go kill me. Ok now, we know ABU is beautiful, we know OAU is beautiful, we know Gombe State Uni is beautiful, and we know UNILAG is beautiful. More schools pls so we can appreciate the beauty of our schools. Waiting for Unilorin's since it's been some time since I left there. |
mochi1: Please, anyone here traveling from Ilorin??I'm in Zaria but I live in Ilorin so I may be of help. I also have someone coming from Ilorin. You can pm me so I link the two of you up after I'm satisfied with ur type of person. Pls don't feel offended, you know how things are these days. |
If it surprises you that the Western world now pays tribute to Mandela despite their earlier disposition then you did not understand what Obama meant when he said in his speech: it took a Madiba to liberate not just the prisoner, but the jailer as well. Mandela himself said he didn't give dignity to the black man, he gave dignity to the white man- there is no dignity in oppressing others. He taught people that there is darkness, not only in suffering injustice but also in being unjust; and he turned on the light for both alike. Ban Ki-Moon called him "one of our greatest teachers", and he did indeed have a lesson for everyone - black, white, world leader or citizen. If he has made disciples out of those that crucified him, that only attests to how convincing Mandela was as man through his convictions. People will always want to be part of something as profound as the Mandela legacy. And Nigerians are not excluded. I know we like to believe that our contribution to the South African struggle was the coup de grace that ended Apartheid; and that by extension, South African's owe us their freedom, their allegiance, their souls but I think that it's in poor taste (bordering on shameless, even for us) to focus on that chapter of our collective history, at this time when we are all supposed to be honoring the life of Mandela at his passing. We didn't ask for recognition of our anti-apartheid efforts when he was released from 27 years of incarceration; perhaps that would have been a more auspicious time. We didn't ask to be recognized when he became President. But now, when 91 world leaders pay tribute to such a deserving man, Nigerians want to tell people how they are responsible for his success story. Have we no shame? Never mind about who writes what, Mandela wrote his own story when his memory served him well. Nigeria was not forgotten after his long walk to freedom (just google Mandela Nigeria) and maybe if we had the decency to bear our own generosity in silence then our actions would have continued to be seen as acts of humanity in the face of gross injustice. But now we want to be identified as co-achievers of Mandela's legacy. Johnathan didn't speak at the memorial service and Nigerian's felt slighted. Luckily for us, no one else in the world thought we had been slighted because, although they acknowledge our effort, no one else in the world believes our contributions to anti-apartheid were as earth-shattering and deserving of international accolade as we do. A stingy man hardly gives a dime, but when he does the whole world is going to know about it. Do we really have so little in our hearts to give, that we are fighting so hard to account for the bit we showed South Africa? And now we criticize the South African Government for deporting Nigerian drug traffickers despite our anti-apartheid contributions? by doing so we are cheapening that involvement; where we would have deserved the benefit of doubt, we would now invite deeper scrutiny as to our motives, especially when set on a scale with the "Ghana must go" fiasco and the subjugation we suffer in our own country. That act of brotherhood now becomes a matter of convenience and politics. It is in our DNA to be dominant, warranted or not, and that's a quality that does not endear us to our African brothers but we should remember the Good book says:"And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted' - Matt 23:12. The people who spoke at "our Mandela's" memorial didn't come to "claim his legacy" (as if it were possible to do that!), they came to pay their respects and that's what we all should be doing. We should all rise above our need for self-glorification - this is not the time for that. Regarding the corruption that has ravished Nigeria, Mandela did voice his displeasure about that; but his disgust was for the people who allow bad government to thrive because it shows that even though we claimed to be sympathetic towards his cause, we did not even understand it. We do not understand that oppression is as much the fault of the oppressed as it is the fault of the oppressor; we do not understand the integrity of standing up for our convictions; We do not understand the difference one man, far from the corridors of power, can make in a nation if he is willing to sacrifice for freedom.
Went through your posts. Lots i can learn from you. Following now. |
And this is the OP's message: nouveaux: a newbie cant post in education section until a fixed duration, Seun is to be asked why. |
For those of you saying the OP is an abusite, read what he wrote on another thread. nouveaux: If you havent attended OAU, you havent attended a tertiary school. #wordhttps://www.nairaland.com/1553651/skales-convocates-lead-city-university#20188398 |
Ifyx: If dis post doesn't make fp...i'll cut dis threadYou can help by recommending it on this thread. https://www.nairaland.com/1426645/recommend-threads-frontpage |
gsparks01: lemme jus say this, If any of u ABU or any other institution's students should ever visit OAU, the 1st thing that will go through ur mind is "IS THIS A CITY?" the school leaves u gobsmacked! no exaggeration.. the road network(+traffic lights lol) , the centralised Library(the biggest in Nigeria if not sub Saharan Africa) the structures, the always mown green grasses etc. It's a wonderful placeABU's Kashim Ibrahim Library is actually the biggest. Don't take it from me, do a little research yourself. |
Ogbeche77: 94. More money is spent on food in aso rock than any other state house in the world; 2BillionFunny |

Fulaman198: You are wrong actually. The Hausa are actually the ones with the unique look. Not to generalise, but Hausa true Hausas are some of the darkest people worldwide and have a very Sudanic look about them. That's close to what i said in my initial post on this thread. You see we've come back to the same place. I wasn't hating. I was just being honest as you've been now. Chartey: Hausa girls are not all that beautiful. They're dark and stocky just like the Yoruba and other tribes.. Maybe you meant Fulani girls. Nobody should bring that 'Hausa-Fulani' fallacy here o.Maybe I shouldn't have said they were "not all that beautiful". I think that offended the guy who attacked me. Beauty is subjective, so that statement I made was wrong and insensitive. |
Adamskuty: loool! Loool, they ain't hausas? What a joke #faintsGoogle is your friend if you don't have original knowledge. People are reading your comments, pls don't disgrace yourself. |
huthmanadam: Chilling in front of the senate... Proudly abusiteGuuuyyy! Abeg no thief NL babes. |
Mandela sold out abeg. Black SA didn't gain economic freedom. As much as I dislike Mugabe's tactics, I can't just fault his core vision. In my opinion, Nkrumah was a far more influential African great as he fought for AFRICA's freedom and not just for Ghana. Only that he would have been another Mugabe had that coup not thrown him out. |
Jarus: Some people have multiple accounts jsut to perpetrate things like thisOga Jarus, i had to make a comment because of you. You're bigger than this now. The thing is, are those not OAU pictures? You can get the best of OAU pics and post them. |
@Deeza abeg free dem make we enjoy our pics @Gbenga Oti to jo o, sogbo? This is just a picture thread. Let's enjoy. |
Fulaman198: I don't think Touré is Fulani. Touré is usually a Mande or Songhai name in Mali and parts of Niger.Yes you're right. There are people called Touré in Guinea too. Some of these people may be of Fulani origin. Let me share a post(not authoritative though) on Facebook with you. https://m.facebook.com/fulanitube/posts/336469083114958 It's very expository. Fulaman, you didn't answer the question though. You know I'm right. |
