Politics › Re: Nigerians, Others To Close Businesses In Zimbabwe By January 2014 by Chartey(m): 8:41am On Nov 24, 2013
Most people saying it's a bad policy are just being sentimental. It's not just any business they're talking about, it's only for RETAIL businesses. Retail businesses are mostly meant for locals because no special capacity which can't be found in the country is needed for those. Most countries in the world have such laws. Maybe Nigeria even has and doesn't enforce it. This is no persecution. I'm just tired of people doing business illegally in other countries only to cry foul and play the persecution card when the law catches up with them.

lovat: Is it not this same ENUGU that is the crime centre in Nigeria? This kind of investment will not be possible if it was really true.
So you now see that Turkish Airlines and Fly Emirates too don't mind the 'violence' in Kano and they in fact prefer there to Enugu.
Travel › Re: Lomé - Capital City Of Togo pictures by Chartey(m): 11:43am On Nov 22, 2013
gogo chocolate: Please forget togo. I went there with my wife for holidays and there was nothing to write about. I planned to spend a week of holidays there but we ran back to naija after 2 days. There is the language barrier and they lack good hotels. We spent over 3 hours looking for hotels . They are lots of beaches but you find lots of miscreants there. If you are planning to work in Togo or hustle, then you are in deep shit . Most of the citizens ride bikes and rickety cabs while the french control the econonmy.
To say they lack good hotels is a lie na. You didn't find decent ones for your budget maybe. They have quite good but a little expensive ones.
See a link to Lomé hotels from TripAdvisor.

I'd go back to visit Lomé one day.

pazienza: Aso- ebi is a yoruba word. Achum- di is what my granny use to call it. Achum-di means ''i am looking for husband''.
I was just replying the person who said "aso ebi" was part of Igbo traditional wedding. People need to know their culture before speaking on its premises.

Sagamite: Why their fatherland, why not their own land?
It's your type that says ...to serve our fathers' land..." when singing the national anthem. Fatherland is not equal to father's land. So if we say Africa is the motherland, it means Africa is the land of our mothers abi?
Nomski & Isale gan of French haters club

You need to remember football history. FIFA was set up by the French. Ever heard of Jules Rimet cup? No? That's the official name of World cup.

Guess who set up the European Cup.

Ever heard of Baron Pierre de Coubertin? He set up modern Olympics in 1894 at Sorbonne in Paris to usher in 1896 Athens Olympics.

@Isale gan, have you ever expressed gratitude to the French for all these international sports you now enjoy?

Learning francophobia from our British colonial masters is one thing, being aware of history and being objective is another.

I still remember how the British press rubbished the French squad before 2000 Euro cup and 2006 world cup. We all know how far they went.
The French resolve their dispute in a less ordered way compared to German "Konsenz" but that's how they are.

Only Spain has been more successful in football than them in the last 15 years.
Nairaland please give us the 'favorite' option.

Nomski0: Those bloody Ukrainians! angryangry. I cant believe they let France do this to them.angry

And Belgium loosing to Japan? Is the world ending!angry
Japan has always been a better team than Belgium and always been good performers at the world cup. Belgium are just hyped by an English media seeing top Belgian talent in the EPL for the first time.

Wislet: every step involved in IGBA NKWU(Igbo traditional marriage) was well displayed in that song 'Ada Ada'.....from the preparations to the 'asoebis', the wine carrying, the subsequent parental blessing, to the dance!, and then the final farewell.

Congratulations to Flavour.

Igbo Traditional marriages rock.

@the person wanting to marry an 'ADA' to have the song played for him on his wedding day...... Even though 'Ada' means First Daughter in Igbo land, it is not only for ADAs the song is played. So long as you are an Igbo lady(nwa afo), it will be played for you. 'Asa Nwa' denotes a beautiful lady.
So "aso ebi" is now Igbo culture? Pls translate that Igbo phrase into English for us my dear.
Music/Radio › Re: Winners Of Nigerian Music Video Awards 2013 by Chartey(m): 12:03pm On Nov 17, 2013
I love this awards but the organizers could have done a lot better in the reggae/dancehall (i hate lumping the two genres together) category. Only one real dancehall song was in that category.

I'm not surprised because Tpia was worse than the ranting chronic goon called Polio, birds of a feather they say flock together.
Thank you. She thinks she knows better than everyone on any issue, and she gets angry when you point out her faults. She'll attack me now.

"Dear Tales,
I am a very troubled man and I don’t
know if I
am doing the right thing by writing
you this letter.
I have been unfaithful and I am
paying the price
for it. I really don’t know where to
start. I met
this nice beautiful God-fearing lady
and we have
been dating for 2 years now and she
has changed
my life. I decided to pop the
question last year
with the intention of getting married
this
December. Would you believe we
have never had
sex until 2 weeks ago when we did
our
engagement? That is how special she
is to me
thus I was ready to wait.
Tales, to rewind my story, early this
year, I
bumped into my ex-girlfriend of two
years ago at
a corporate event outside town, it was
a 3-day
event and I bumped into her on the
second day.
We spoke at length during dinner
time and I told
her about my marriage because I
realized she
was coming on to me. The night
ended early for
the two of us because my fiancé
called and I was
glad she did. On the last day, we had
a closing
party and I got a little tipsy but not
drunk to not
know what I was doing. My Ex
continued flirting
and this I must shamefully admit, I
got very
turned on. She whispered into my
ears that she
had a wedding gift for me in her
room and I
foolishly followed her. And it
happened. After sex,
I disgracefully crawled out of her bed
and went to
my room. I was so ashamed I could
not even say
goodbye to anyone and I left at dawn
back to
Accra.
Fast forwarding to now, I have kept
this as a
secret and a regrettable mistake for
months but
they say the evil that men do lives
after them…
hhmm Naa, I decided to go do a full
body test
after I started feeling funny some
days ago only
to find out I was HIV positive. I
called my ex
because I suspected she gave me the
virus and
she told me that, that was the
wedding gift she
had for me. I am so broken Naa, I am
so sad,
and I feel like committing suicide. If
I broke my
fiance’s virginity and made love to
her two weeks
ago after our engagement, then Tales
this means
I could have infected her. I don’t
know what to
do, how do I tell her I might have
infected her?
How do I tell her I cheated on her
months ago
and got infected. Hhhmm Naa, I need
help what
should I do because at this moment,
I could drink
poison and avoid seeing the hurt in
my fiance’s
eyes."
