Your post would have been good except you spoiled it with poorly researched and unfounded allegations. How dare you say Christianity regards menstruation and childbirth as curses? Can you point to a verse in the holy bible that supports this allegation? Its better to keep quiet on topics and issues you know nothing about rather than spread lies and rumors. The holy bible only says that women shall give birth in pains because of the sin of eve and not that childbirth is a curse. Haba! OP check your facts!

@huzzie, uchi4jah went for undergraduate study. I already asked and he can't help much cos he has no idea. Thanks all the same. I will update the house once I scale the hurdle.

Thanks, indeed. The Usask issue is new to me. I wasn't the one who had a supervisor issue, but I know someone else who does. In my view, getting a supervisor is always vital to an application to a research-based program. I will advise you to wait or re-tailor try to convince one that your research profile intersect theirs. Did u try to reach a supervisor yourself? Why wait for d department to get one for u when u could loop up their staff profile and email one directly. Wishing u the best.

hmmm, I have already sent enough emails to some faculty. Some said they don't have vacancy for now because they have mostly accepted fall applicants while others don't reply at all. I don't want to contact the entire faculty so I don't look desperate. Maybe I will just wait and see. The person you know that has the supervisor issue, how did he resolve it?
Thanks again.

Shadams: @rexxy 09, congrats.

From me:

I am grateful to God. CDHC has just called me. They wanted to stamp my passport but they decided to ask whether they should do that on it or whether I wanted to renew it. It has four more months to expire. I decided to choose the second option. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I just didn't want to seem desperate. I had got my dept at Usask to extend my resumption for about two weeks, while sending about 5-6 mails to the visa office yesterday, telling them about resumption. It got to them, since their call came today.

Meanwhile I am still in PH, and I have asked a friend to help me get it. I sent an authorization letter too. I should leave for Lagos tomorrow. I pray I can get the TRV next week. Kindly keep me in your thoughts. May God perfect all the dreams here!

Thank you.

Congrats my brother. Your TRV is sure. I beg how you manage secure supervisor from your dept at usask? I don write them tire so tey i just dey look them for eye. I remember they told you sometime ago about waiting for a supervisor who is willing to supervise you or something. How long did it take to get one. I'm facing the same problem at usask.

Abeg how long will it take nipost to deliver doc. I don tire oo today makes it 12working day stil not delivered base on their static tracking system.

Use Canadian post office website to track ur mails. They are always up to date. Forget nipost website. It doesn't work. Normally ur mail should be there in Canada between 12-21 days.

Pls House, for someone whose sponsor is a government worker, is the letter of appointment okay to be used as letter from employer or does he need to produce another letter. If so who should his employer be?

2. How many months pay slip does your sponsor need to produce?

Thanks everyone for your help.

Abeg no vex. Just trying to correct an impression. Sorry u got it all wrong. Anyway. Canadian dollar no get weight pass us dollar. Last time I checked 1 USD =1.03 CAD. Again, 1 USD = 159 naira. 1 CAD = 152naira. Use your online currency converter.

BizBloke:

Thanks for the info.

Please, since dollar cards are USD specific, how does it work with Canadian dollar (I think both are not same; correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks.

Yes Canadian dollar and US dollar are different. But you have d advantage with US dollar because it is an international currency accepted almost anywhere. Again the US dollars have a higher value than Canadian dollars. That means you won't notice the conversion rates much. The problem is not really with the conversion rates per say as you will be charged the current value of the currency you are withdrawing. The problem is with the bank charges and visa/MasterCard charge you incur as a result of using your card outside Nigeria (for naira MasterCard)or using your credit card outside the US( for visa credit card). By and large the charges are not that much. I think visa charges you less than 2% of the transaction worth. Which is not much if you come to think of it.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by Chatters(f): 10:41pm On Aug 19, 2013
smile13: I guess one might still need to. Don't forget the dollar mastercard you're talking about is denominated in US dollars and currency in Canada is the Canadian dollar. The same 'very bad' conversion rate will still be used. Also, the Naira mastercard also gets accepted in virtually any payment points displaying the mastercard logo, though I don't know about Canada but sure for some European countries. I'm at a loss as to how to get some cash with me to Canada pending when one will open a bank account .

With your debit/credit card, you can withdraw money from any ATM all over the world. No need to carry cash around.

ChriGo: Oga siga talk say d exchange rate wen u get 2 canny na yoyo bitters oo grin grin....

If you have a dollar credit card you don't need to worry about the exchange rate. Which ever card you are getting should be in dollars. This way your card doesn't get rejected at some outlets. Please avoid naira credit /debit card. Go for dollars.

laureek: Good morning people.hope the weekend was great.Thank God for a new week.i've got few questions
1.for the experienced people here, pls how does one keep money as it is not safe to carry a huge some from here.plus i know there are some banks ere that u can withdraw frm anywhere in the world but dont if they have daily limits as to what one can withdraw.

2. For those that applied for a pgd,and have gotten a visa, how many years were they given? Single or multiple entry. Incase one wants to come back during xmas or any holiday.is it advisable?

3.which airlines are okay and the routes. The one that i wont have to stay in transit for 10hrs.i get easily bored for africa and definitely wont enjoy it

4.any ottawarians in d house? Looking for accomodation. Suggestions pls

Meanwhile i havent gotten my trv.just preparing ahead.
Applied May 22nd
Medicals July 24th
Resmption date Sept 3rd

Good news is our portion this week.Amen

1. You will need to discuss this with your bank. Daily withdrawal limits has to do with your bank and the arm you are withdrawing from. alternatively I would advise you get a credit card from your bank. There's no withdrawal limit on that and its safe to use anywhere. I got one from Access Bank. You may want to check them out.

Sir P!:

170k even off peak is a tight squeeze .. Maybe 200k is more realistic off peak , but now is peak season so its much more .. sometimes spending a little more for better comfort over such distance is worth it so you don't have to spend a week+ recuperating .

laureek: Hmm,you sure say no be all this kabu kabu planes .cos the ones I checked are bout 350-410k.
170k

The ones you saw are on the high side because this is peak period. Yes flights can get as low as 170k during off peak and even lower. Pls don't waste your money looking for 410k flights. You can put that moni to better use. For me it better to enter a kabu kabu flight and save a whopping 250k than enter a classy flight that will finish my hard earned cash. Just my 50 kobo anyway. One luv.

got an admission to brandon university for Bsc. Psychaitric Nursing for winter 2014 session. it's a four year program. However, the first year is called Pre Psychiatric year where after successful completion of the pre psychiatric year (with good gpa), students can continue into year 2 of the Bsc. psychiatric Nursing.... My admission letter states that i have been admitted into the Pre spychiatric year and it was written bodly that it " THIS PROGRAMME USUALLY LAST FOR ONE YEAR......... THE AVERAGE COST PER YEAR (WITH ACCOMOODATION AND FEEDING) is $21, 000.

Does it mean that the canadaian embassy will give me a study permit/TRV for just one year or for four years? Or maybe one year first (for the pre psychiatric year)and later i will extend it when i get to canny after the first year?

like how much do i have to prove in my sponsors SOA? for the first year only ($21, 000) or for the entire 4years programme ($21, 000 * 4) Thanks.

Your sponsors SOA should have money to cover ur first year tuition and board plus some excess. I'm not sure about the TRV part. Your admission letter says one year and I think that's what cdhc will be working with. But you can easily extend your trv once you begin study in canny.
