PoliticsRe: RIVERS 2019: Ndoki-igbo Should Produce Next Governor by cheruv: 6:08pm On Apr 20, 2017
nengibo:
So even with the "60-70% Igbo" they don't feel safe speaking Igbo, you guys are just hilarious, I can now see its their oil you are after, a quick foray into Abia state would show you the lack of companies and good Road network and general backwardness, who would want to leave the beautiful state of Rivers to go to Abia? No one in his right mind, states are usually demarcated by Natural boundaries and dat is what put oyibo lga in Rivers state.
Going down the insult lane has shown how petty minded you're but lemme graciously attend to your concerns cool
1] if states were created via natural boundaries as you asserted then why didn't the FG using that same natural boundaries logic of yours carve omuma into Abia since its on the Abia side of the Imo riverhuh Egbema that was divided into two with the oil rich portion shoved into Rivers state.. What concerns it with natural boundarieshuh It all boils down to the logic that the Ijo were greedy for oilrich Igboland and the FG was all too glad to oblige them bkos they helped in fighting the Igbos in war undecided
2] no Igbo tribe is greedy over the resources of another... Abia just like Anambra is a blue collar state, so no one gives a fukh whether your land is pouring out oil like a spring. So no one even notices that the ukwa has oil... Southern ukwa knows where their family is located, and they want to be with them wherever they're. And trust me,other Igbo tribes have noticed and are now ready to ensure that the northern and southern ukwa are reunited once again in Abia state.

In short like you nengi said... Nobody wants to be in a place they're tolerated, they wanna be in a place where they'd be free to express themselves. The southern ukwa know they're simply tolerated in Rivers state, that's why they wanna go to Abia where not only their kith are found but where no one would heckle them for being Igbo cool
PoliticsRe: RIVERS 2019: Ndoki-igbo Should Produce Next Governor by cheruv: 5:27pm On Apr 20, 2017
nengibo:
The question is what progress has the Ndoki people in Abia made, are they faring better than the ones in Rivers or you are just repeating this anti-Rivers sentiment that most Igbos have,
The southern ukwa know that they'd fare better than they're currently thats why they've been unrelenting in their agitations since mamman nasir did his boundary adjustment abracadabra in 1976.
The SE states that produce oil viz Abia, Imo and Anambra have oil producing areas commission...whose job is to ensure that whatever dollars their soil produces is given back to them to compensate for whatever degradation their environment might suffer, unlike Rivers that uses their oil money to develop only PH undecided
Another reason is the ethnic factor.... Abia is 99% Igbo unlike Rivers that's 60-75% Igbo(depending on whose statistics you go with) and so they feel more safer in Abia than Rivers because in Abia, everyone speaks the same language whereas in Rivers they can't even speak their tongue bkos Igbo isn't a recognized language in Rivers state.
So the reasons boku... And more and more Igbos even as far north as otukpa agree that obigbo needs to be returned back to Abia state!

Chad was invaded by Nigerian troops during the era of Shehu Shagari,it was the backing of France that prevented our troops(then led by Lt Col Muhammadu Buhari) from chasing the fleeing chadian soldiers into their capital,Njadema.

The Nigerian army is as corrupt as corrupt can be...and moreover the patriotic ideals are very low so battle hardened nations like Chad can make a short work of the NA if it comes to that. Go and read up how Chad dealt mercilessly with Libya during the Toyota wars shocked

U kept mentioning Asa and Ndoki but your title says Ndoki Governor
Asa and Ndoki are the two legs of the ukwa tribe. So an asa can speak for ndoki and an ndoki for asa.
PoliticsRe: RIVERS 2019: Ndoki-igbo Should Produce Next Governor by cheruv: 4:49pm On Apr 20, 2017
Joey abeg no mind that Rukwo guy...its their hatred for anything Igbo that put Rivers where it is today and quite unfortunately, the ihuruohna are using their methods against them with great effect grin
The ndoki were separated against their will from their kiths just north across the dew river(Igbo:Anyim Imo) due to Ijo greed in 1976 and in as much as they've been demanding since then to be carved back to Abia, they reserve every right to produce the next governor of Rivers state. Even the first governor of Abia state was a man from afikpo by name ogbonnaya onu and that didn't stop sani abacha from carving afikpo zone of Abia into Ebonyi state.
So while we're waiting for obigbo to be carved back to Abia state where they'd join their kith there, its pertinent that they produce the Governorship after wike

Of course ndoki has to be in the brick house...at least that's the least you can do for them after making the FG annex them to Rivers state in 1976 against their will.
The southern ukwa want to go back to Abia state where their northern ukwa brothers are...but if you concede the brick house to them they might reconsider cheesy

That's to say that the ogane was located 1000-1500km East of Benin city...which automatically places the arc on that Nri/Igbo-ukwu/Isu axis.
Since this is from the 1500s...and it was documented by the Portuguese who had no bias for any of the ethnicities in the area,I'd go with it as factual cool

PoliticsRe: South-East & South-South Summit Holds In Owerri Today by cheruv: 8:44am On Apr 20, 2017
fratermathy:
I don't really care about this summit because it is not the first and won't be the last. So far, nothing has been done. South-South minorities like us never fail to realise that the Nigerian nation recognises only THREE ETHNIC GROUPS (IGBO, YORUBA, HAUSA)! The rest of us are like pawns and the nearest neighbour, being the Igbo, never fail to use us to their advantage, with sinister motives or not. I don't want to go into the politics of this forceful SS/SE union but I want to make some facts clear here as an Urhobo/Isoko, a Deltan and a SSner.

1. Obaino860 declared on this thread that SS is 90% Igbo and that all SS groups, including IJAW, speak Igbo and bear Igbo names. That is a blatant lie. It is lies like this that make us mistrust the Igbo motive in our affairs. In the SS, ONLY Delta North (Anioma) and Rivers (except Ijaw, Andoni and Ogoni) have connections with Igbo in any way. These people do not even make up to 20% of the entire SS region so where then have Obaino860 gotten this fact from? Urhobos/Isokos speak their own mutually intelligible languages that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO IGBO EVEN REMOTELY, Ijaws speak numerous mutually unintelligible languages that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO IGBO, Ogonis speak their own mutually unintelligible languages that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO IGBO, the Ibibiod ethnic cluster speak their own mutually intelligible languages that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO IGBO, Ekoi/Bette-Bendi/Ejagham and other Cross Riverian groups speak mutually unintelligible languages that ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO IGBO, even some so-called Delta/Rivers Igboid groups, like Ukwuani, CLAIM to have their own languages!
On the issue of onomastics, the aforementioned groups, exceptions maintained, have no names that are similar to Igbo names. If there are any of such, it is pure happenstance and they definitely mean different things. Even culturally, the SS non-Igboid groups HAVE NOTHING in common with Igbo. This status quo is maintained politically and otherwise.

2. The SS/SE have every right to meet and talk about their future, just as the SS has same rights to do so with the SW, from whence many of the Edo/Delta groups politically evolved from. There is NOTHING special about this meeting. It is simply a political move engineered mostly by the SE, hence the Owerri location. The SS groups have different struggles from the SE. Although some of our struggles (such as true federalism) may overlap, we ultimately have different problems and aspirations. No matter how much we look at it, Igbo remains a MAJORITY ethnic group in Nigeria and thus, directly or indirectly, its people have joined the rest of the country to loot the SS region of its natural resources.

3. TippyTop, and many others, opined that the SS (especially the former Mid-Western Region) look up to the SE! This is another provocative lie to massage the Igbo ego. The former Mid-Western region comprises modern day Delta and Edo States and the people of these states, save for the 30% Anioma people in Delta and 1%(?) Ika in Edo, are IN NO WAY related to the SE politically, culturally or otherwise. In fact, I can assertively state that the South West and the North hold more influence in the SS (especially Edo/Delta States) than the SE does. This is especially true of our migratory patterns. Urhobos, for instance, NEVER migrate to the SE except something IMPORTANT takes them there. This contrasts greatly with the SW, where we have settled in large numbers. Same applies for Isoko, our sister tribe, and the pan-Edo groups. In fact, it is Igbos that settle in our areas.

4. The SE should start by getting its acts right and putting its house in order before extending whatever hands of friendship they want to. It also behoves the SSners to define THEIR FUTURE BY THEMSELVES!!! No group/region was appointed as our mouthpiece. In fact, no pan-SS group CAN EVER speak for the individual groups in the SS region. Each to his own tent. The only thing that binds us all together is the geopolitical term "South-South"! Consequently, the said summit that this thread informs us of is simply the device of a FEW people who have their own intents. As an Urhobo, I only pay allegiance to Urhobo Progress Union (UPU). Any other socio-political or economic group that claims to speak on behalf of my group is simply delusional!

5. On the issue of Biafra, which someone brought up, almost all the ethnic groups in the SS, including Urhobo (UPU), have made their stand clear on this. There is no need beating around the bush. Biafra is an IGBO ONLY affair and I support it wholeheartedly. Take your Igboid groups if they want but never extend your reach beyond your borders to drag actively or passively uninterested groups into it without proper consultations with the designated mouthpieces of these groups.

Finally, I stand for unity at all times. Nigeria, as a nation, needs unity. If this means that we have to extend hands of friendships to our closest neighbours, then we should. However, we must draw the line between unity and hegemony. When larger groups attempt to hegemonise smaller groups, caution must be applied. In Nigeria, political interest is all that matters. As it is now, the SS and SE have different political interests. Any act of unity is done simply by virtue of the NIGERIAN CAMARADERIE SPIRIT!!!!, NOTHING ELSE!!! So all those cogitating deeply on the said summit should stop reading meanings to things that are not there.

Semper Fi!!!

***If you quote me to spew bigoted bunkum, I will use your own medicine against you.

Always speak for your Sobo people... Just as a Rukwo has the right to speak for his Rukwo people.
The Igbos whether SS or SE speak for themselves... And if not for the fact that there are Igbos in the SS,no Igbo would even give a Bleep about the SS.

Give me one reason right now why you would gamble the other way.
Tell me one thing that the SS does as well as the SE. Absolutely nothing.
The SE is more educated, more resourceful, has more specialized human resource and a more established entrepreneural base. The SE even in Nigeria currently has the lower poverty rate. And i am not even talking about the social order that a single ethnic provides that is absent in the disorganized, entropic south-south who would most likely erupt in a free for all ethnic struggle for who controls what.
The only thing the SS has more is oil and the atlantic. And those are not enough to build a prosperous nation in the african context.

I've always concurred with this. This is an area that further linguistic studies need to be performed on. Standard Igbo has 36 letters of the alphabet and this is only for 'light' dialects like Onitsha, Enuani etc. Complex Igbo dialects like Ngwa, Ikwerre, Abiriba etc. have way more letters in their speech form, for example 'wh' (owho/ofo), 'nh' (inhe/ife) etc.) that could be up to 40 or 45 as the case may be.
Exactly...
Am thinking of starting a project that'd see Igbo alphabets expanded to 40 with the inclusion of three more consonants and a vowel.
The vowel is what I'd call "æ" which is a sound like e but it works like a and its found in borderline dialects like ika, izii, ekpeye, abiriba etc.
The other consonants are ts, pf and bv which are found in Eastern Igbo dialects like izii and isobo.
On the contrary, I think s and sh should be merged because I've noticed that in any given dialect, one form is usually prevalent. Maybe we can find a letter that'd cover the two sounds so that speakers can alternate without qualms

When the IInd DIV came and found out that the bridge had been blown up, instead of launching a landing like that of Normandy or marching north and crossing the river at idah like they later did, they decided to stay back and kill every male in asaba,as they had done at ogwanshi Ukwu and iseile Ukwu.
But unlike that of ogwanshi and iseile that weren't well known, the survivors were able to cross the river into Biāfra and tell their stories, which reinforced Biafra's msg that Nigeria was out to kill every Igbo!
Nigeria started killing Western Igbos at Benin and Warri... And when the Biafran armies were thrown out of agbor and asaba they extended their massacres to those areas.
The Anioma were killed not because they expressed pro Biāfra sympathies, but bkos they were simply Igbos!

Anyway to prevent an uproar Nigeria blamed his death on "fleeing" Biafran troops and quickly split up the Rukwo brigade that Boro commanded previously and sent its soldiers among the various battalions that made up the 3MCD.
