Politics › Re: Nobody Can Divide President Buhari’s Votes In The North – Keyamo by chiangwar: 10:34am On Dec 03, 2018 |
That will be if at all any one will vote for Buhari? which i do not think so 20190 will be not like 2015 so APC should forget about power nairavsdollars: By Temidayo Akinsuyi
Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN), spokesman of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, in this exclusive interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI in Abuja speaks on developments in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Excerpts:
The APC has been enmeshed in crisis since the conduct of its primaries with some governors calling for the resignation of the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Don’t you think this will affect President Buhari’s chances especially in his campaigns?
I don’t know why people rush to use this word ‘crisis’. Because once there is struggle for positions and people drag them selves to court or write petitions, it’s just a normal struggle within parties. But people are too quick to use the word ‘crisis’. If it is crisis, that means there is nobody that is free of the crisis in Nigeria. Indeed, nobody is free because the same thing happening here in APC is what is happening in all the other political parties that have the possibility of winning elections in this country. It is happening in PDP, APGA and so on. APGA is controlling only one state, yet they carried guns and shot themselves during their primaries. In fact, somebody had to flee through the window. Did you hear of any guns within APC? None! So, this idea of rushing to use the word ‘crisis’, to me, is just a pattern that the members of the public want to adopt. There is no primary that comes that issues won’t arise. It will happen again in 2023, 2027, 2031 and so on. It will always happen because there will be struggle, fierce struggle for power. The positions are few but the people are many. So, there is no crisis in APC. What we have is just fierce struggle for positions.
So, with all that is happening within the party, do you still believe all is well with the APC as we go into the elections?
Has the APC been deregistered by INEC? If the answer is no, then it is a growing concern. There is fierce struggle for positions. The people who got the tickets are humans, not goats. Somebody must get it while some people won’t get it. Those who did not get the tickets will make it look as if heavens are falling. Everybody who does not get the ticket will tell you that the party will lose thinking that he is the only one. A tree does not make a forest but from what we have always seen, anybody who lost a ticket will always believe the party cannot survive without him. That is not true.
You once granted an interview early this year saying Nigerians should form a third bloc that the APC is not the best political party for the country. Now that you are the spokesperson of President Buhari’s campaign, do you still stand by that statement?
I agree and I am saying it for the umpteenth time, and nobody should misquote me. APC is not the best political party we can have. Is it the best? No, but it is better than what we have before which is the PDP. Will I be foolish enough to say that it is the best? Is it a perfect party? The APC is a work in progress and that is why you can see internal struggles for positions and all that. You can see complaints of marginalization by some members. So, it is not the best but it is far better than what we had before. The only problem is that when people like you play this recording now, you will stop at where I said APC is not the best but you will not mention the second part of the statement where I said it is far better than PDP. I am not a sycophant to say that God is working in Nigeria. We are all human beings. It is an imperfect system that we are trying to perfect. I said that after some time, if this system does not improve or perfect, people should think of going further and forming a third bloc. It is a work in progress and I am not talking about 2019 or 2023, it may be in the future. Our parties are not based on ideologies and that is why you see people jumping from one party or the other overnight. Imagine a conservative turning to a progressive overnight or a progressive turning to a conservative overnight. Is that possible? They are only looking for tickets. So, I will not sit down here and be a fool to say our parties are based on ideologies. Why did I say that both APC and PDP are not the best. It is because there is really no ideology behind them. The APC is still the party that still presents something better in the sense that all the leaders of APC, apart from those joining behind you can associate them with progressive politics over the years. I am talking of President Buhari, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. These ones have never been in the ruling party. Never! That is what makes the difference. Apart from these few ones, every other person is just water flowing from one stream to another. So, you can still see that there is some semblance of progressive politics in the ruling party. That is all I said and if you ask me again, I will repeat the same thing on tape. APC is not the best but it is still a far cry from where we are coming from.
Do you think President Buhari still enjoys the same goodwill with which he came to power four years ago?
His party won all the major elections in 2015 and now. That is the clear answer because if I keep talking from now till evening, I cannot gauge it because I am not INEC or a barometer.
But what is your perception based on the pulse of Nigerians?
Where do you feel the pulse of Nigerians? Is the pulse felt on social media? Is the woman selling groundnut, pepper or crayfish on social media? People will just sit down here, carry their phones and turn themselves into INEC overnight and begin to calculate and do opinion polls on phones. The only opinion poll is the poll that we have conducted in 2015 and now and the President won all elections. He won Edo, Kogi, he won Kwara now. He won Ekiti, Osun and Ondo. Each time the PDP lose, they will cry foul. Let me tell you what is going on. What is going on is not a cry about rigging. The opposition is really not crying about rigging each time this election holds and they lose. They are crying about preventing them from rigging. That is what they are crying about. I want to put it on tape now that since 1999, the PDP had no other means to win elections than to write results. So, they found themselves in a new territory and they are uncomfortable with it. They don’t know how to canvass voters. The second problem they have is that they don’t know how to run elections without massive money. Apart from the popularity of President Buhari, these are the two handicaps they have now and which they will face going into 2019 elections.
President Buhari got fewer votes in the South East in 2015. Do you think he will spring a surprise this time around?
Again, I will refer you to the results of election because that is the only way to judge. I cannot look at social media and judge. In the Anambra election, in the heat of IPOB protests, the President’s party moved from a distant third to close second. PDP now came third. For me, the Anambra governorship election was victory for APC. For a party who got 5,000 votes in 2015 now making over 95,000 votes despite not being the ruling party in the state, that is the next level in Anambra. The biggest gainer in the Anambra election was not APGA that won but APC that came second. What we got in that state was an addition of 85,000 votes because in 2015, President Buhari barely scored 5,000 votes in that state in 2015. So, people should look at all these and nobody should come and cry rigging in 2019. You are seeing these empirical figures now going on. Also, look at the revolution going on in other parts of the South East now. We didn’t have one single senator before, now we have about 5 or 6 senators. Andy Uba came into APC, Hope Uzodinma came in followed by Onni Ogbuoji. Former governors like Sullivan Chime came in, former ministers and senators also came in. So, we have made tremendous progress and it is evident for all to see. So, with all these, how can somebody not sit down and say we have not made tremendous progress compared to where we were in 2015? This election will be easier for President Buhari than Goodluck Jonathan’s elections in 2015. Forget all this noise they are making on social media. Based on facts and our achievements, we know it will be easier for President Buhari now.
You said the 2019 election will be easier for President Buhari than the one he contested against Goodluck Jonathan. Don’t you think Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential flagbearer will divide Buhari’s votes in the North?
In 2011, we had four presidential candidates from the North. Nuhu Ribadu, Ibrahim Shekarau, Mahmud Waziri and Muhammadu Buhari. Did they divide Buhari’s votes? In fact, that was when he got 12 million votes from the North. Nobody can divide Buhari’s votes in the North.

ATIKU is determine to restructure this country we should give him our full support And vote for him come 2019. aisha111: Segun Showunmi, spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Organization, says the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will restructure the country within one year, if elected.
Showunmi said this while speaking on a programme on Arise Television. He said Nigerians would have seen practical restructured activities that government would have embarked on within one year. Showunmi added that the Nigerian constitution was not created to be an obstacle to development and that the citizens can determine what they need to change that can give them the desired growth.
“The first thing Atiku is going to do once he sets up his government, which will take six months, is that he’s going to set up a special committee that will look at all of the reports, 1995, 2005, 2014, harmonize them, and get what is the commonalities so that we can know what is consistently being demanded, pull out all the harmonized stuff, looking at all the things Nigerians have been clamoring for, which of those things can be signed by an executive order, maybe things that are on the concurrent list,” he said.
“Then, he will look at the ones that require him to work with the legislature and stakeholders in the country, and say look Nigerians, our constitution was not created to be an obstacle to development. We have the power, as Nigerians, to determine what we need to change that can give us the growth we need, giving that he’s very good at building consensus and pulling people together. “But one thing you can be sure of is that, within 6 to 8 months, maximum of one year, Nigerians would have seen practical restructured activities that government would have embarked on.
“You know why? It’s because you are going to have in the office of the president an Atiku Abubakar, not someone who is paying lip service to restructuring, somebody who has been standing on restructuring for such a long time, who has written on restructuring and who has advocated for restructuring?”
On whether Atiku will spend one term as he promised, Showunmi said, “When we get to that bridge, we will certainly cross it. But what I will say to you is this. Atiku Abubakar keeps his words and his obligations. What he says or signs up to, you can be rest assured that he will do it. He’s not a flippant fellow and he doesn’t play to the gallery.” |

His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Monday visited the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu for some consultations and to seek his understanding over the choice of Mr. Peter Obi as his running mate.
On the entourage of H.E Atiku Abubakar were the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, who is also the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus; and the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd.).
It was learnt that the visit was for consultation with Ekweremadu as a run up to the 2019 polls.
With news making round the clock regarding the start of the campaign, it was imperative to carry out such visit to Ekweremadu. It was gathered that the entourage asked for his support which he obliged; and also explained to him that Obi was picked in the interest of the zone in particular and the nation in general.
It was said, “He was told that Obi does not have any corruption case against him and that he does not belong to any faction of the party.
“He was also told that Obi’s emergence has further raised the acceptability level of the PDP across the country.” Meanwhile, the party has scheduled its National Executive Committee meeting for Thursday in Abuja.
Our correspondent gathered that the meeting would approve the full composition of the council and also vet its budget for the campaigns.
Secondus confirmed the inauguration of the campaign council to our correspondent on the telephone.
“Yes, we are meeting on Thursday and the campaign will be inaugurated same day,” he said. |
Politics › Re: Uche Nwosu Dumps APC For DPP by chiangwar: 1:15pm On Nov 28, 2018 |
Game changers congratulations aminulive: @POLITICSNGR
Information reaching the PoliticsNGR news desk on Wednesday reveals that Chief of Staff and In-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the Democratic Peoples' party, DPP.
Nwosu alongside Okorocha's aides and members of the state house of assembly defected on Tuesday. This development is arising from the refusal of the APC to field Nwosu as the party's Gubernatorial aspirant in the upcoming state governorship elections.
Okorocha, who spoke with journalists at the Government House, Owerri, however, promised to work for the victory of Nwosu as the next governor of the state in 2019 even as he remained in the APC as its candidate for Orlu Senatorial District.
He also accused the APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, of duping the deputy governor, Mr. Eze Madumere, former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Eche, and his predecessor, Mr. Jude Ejiogu, from the governorship ticket.
According to him, what happened in APC primaries in many states presents interesting scenario as the party he said is known for justice, equity and fairness has been dented by the National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.
He said, “What happened in Imo was a clear case of injustice, where Uche Nwosu won the primary and was robbed of the ticket. This injustice must be addressed. However, in spite of the fact that my aides are leaving the party, I am still a member of APC and will not leave the party.
“I tried to persuade them not to leave, but they have made up their minds. I have done what I can to make them remain in the party, they disobeyed me. I don’t have any moral justification to stop them.
“President Buhari is not behind the injustice done by the party in the state but Oshiomhole is solely responsible for all the injustice meted to my people in Imo State.
For me, I am still a member of APC. Buhari still remains my candidate and I will support him.”
Okorocha maintained that Imo people did not play politics of party but politics of individual, revealing that the people’s interest in APC was by his own making.
He contended that among the various governorship candidates in the state, his son-in-law, Nwosu, remained the best and vowed to support him to fulfill his governorship ambition.

President Muhammadu Buhari did not any public debate in 2015 i doubt if he can show up 2019 2015 was he he suppose to sale himself to Nigeria but he refuse , lets send him to Daura that all he need now . Mysteryque: A Non-governmental organization, Known as “Door to Door Campaign for Buhari/Ganduje 2019” on Tuesday in Kano urged President Muhammadu Buhari to respect the open invitation by honoring the presidential debate against the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alh. Atiku Abubakar, coming up 19th January 2019, organized by Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON).
The National Chairman of the campaign organization Engr. Atiku Ahmad Dongurawa, who spoke to reporters, said that president Buhari’s credential speaks volume of his laudable achievements in many areas of human endeavours, to stand any public debate with opposition parties.
Engr. Ahmad who is also a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) said the president’s tremendous accomplishments in the diversification of economy, agriculture, security, infrastructural development, power generation and the most celebrated war against corruption in Nigeria stood tall and above the 16 years records of PDP’s administration, adding that there was no basis for comparism between Buhari and Atiku.
According to him, “There is no reason why president Buhari should shy away from the presidential debate looking at the period when the government came to power, there are so many projects and programs that were executed by this government, even the Nigerian citizens, will bear witness.
Also there is no justification that will hinder president Buhari coming out for the debate, because the president has many things to tell Nigerians that will convince the electorate to re-elect this government back to power.”
Engr. Ahmad explained that the campaign organization was established to promote the good works of APC governments at all levels and use same to educate, enlightening and mobilize the public towards renewing the APC mandates come 2019 general elections.
“This organization wants to stress the needs for the upcoming campaigns to be issued based. Our strategies from the National, state, zonal to ward and polling unit levels, is about developing innovative and substantive modalities that will help the party in winning a free and fair election.
Commenting on the state of the nation, “We hail president Buhari and his vice effort towards a prudent and responsible management of the nation’s resources and security.
He further said that the ongoing infrastructural transformation in Kano, spearheaded by the APC administration under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje deserves commendation and urged Kano state citizens to return come 2019 for consolidation of its huge achievements. He appealed to the electorates to ensure that president Buhari and Ganduje get another mandate through peaceful campaign. |
Politics › Re: Atiku Politicising National Tragedy — Buhari by chiangwar: 3:01pm On Nov 27, 2018 |
This is injustice to solders who lost they lives yet APC are still talking, president Muhammadu Buhari When will you and your Administration learn? this is people life they are talking about , why will you and your party been putting blames if you have a head to think well your party will not come up with anything called next level. APC has nothing to offers this Nation , is so sad that our solders has to pay with they lives. akinbode1: ABUJA—The nationwide solemnity arising from the killing of more than 100 Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram in Melete, Borno State, was yesterday breached by the exchange of salvos by the two leading presidential candidates, Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.
Both presidential candidates exchanged blames, even as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also, yesterday, charged the National Assembly to launch an inquiry into the issue.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, had on Sunday through its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena accused Atiku of leading a gang of selfish and mercantile politicians desperate to take power from the ruling APC.
Atiku in response to the claim, which he said cast aspersions on his person on his birthday and his turbaning as Waziri Adamawa, observed that the Melete incident happened on the same day Buhari launched his presidential campaign, an occasion he claimed the nation’s service chiefs withdrew from at the last moment.
Meanwhile, the Presidency has described the Metele killing as an isolated case, insisting that Boko Haram has been technically defeated.
While noting that the APC has yet to make a statement on the issue, Atiku challenged Buhari and the APC to donate 10% of the reported N100 million spent by the party on advertorials to the families of the deceased soldiers.
“As a matter of fact, we now know through Premium Times report, that these real Nigerian heroes were killed on November 18, 2018, which was the exact time the candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, invited the service chiefs to attend the launch of the plagiarised #NextLevel launch at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa.
“The nation can only wonder if the Metele massacre could have been avoided if the APC and President Buhari had allowed the service chiefs to focus on their core duties, rather than on his ill-fated re-election campaign.
“We at the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation commend the service chiefs for beating a hasty retreat from the event as soon as they discovered that President Buhari was trying to hoodwink them.
“It took Waziri Atiku Abubakar only a few hours to respond to the incident and express support, while it took the APC’s President Buhari a whole week to express ‘shock.’ We, therefore, wonder who is truly ‘selfish.’
“It is left to Nigerians to compare and contrast who is a leader and who is a follower, based on the conduct of these two parties.
“In any case, we would like to inform the APC of Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s call for financial support from well-meaning individuals and institutions for the survivors of the Metele massacre, and, indeed, all who paid the supreme sacrifice in the front lines for us to be safe.
“Seeing as the APC spent N100 million to buy frontpage advertorials in all the papers on that fateful day of November 18, 2018, we appeal to them to consider donating even 10 per cent of that amount to the endowment for the families of our heroes as proposed by Atiku Abubakar.
“Incidentally, the APC’s statement accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of ‘selfishness’ and ‘mercantilism’ which is very curious as the Waziri dedicated his birthday, not to himself, but to celebrating the 100 or so heroes of the 157 Task force Battalion of the Nigerian Army who lost their lives to Boko Haram at Metele in Borno State.
“That the Waziri Adamawa asked for anyone who wished to give him birthday gifts to instead endow such on the families of the slain heroes is the opposite of selfishness.
“Ironically, the All Progressives Congress that is now accusing Atiku Abubakar has not deemed it fit to pay tribute to these gallant men who gave their lives in order to secure the lives of others.
“As a party, they have not issued even one statement condoling with the slain or their families, neither have they offered any tangible support to the families of these fallen heroes. Yet, they are accusing the Waziri, who has shown commitment to honouring these heroes, of selfishness.” But responding through Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, yesterday, President Buhari dismissed the charge, as he upbraided Atiku for politicising what he claimed was a national tragedy.
He said: “They are just playing politics with the tragedy that happened. They are just playing politics. What happened should be a collective problem, it cuts across party lines, it is a matter that patriots must rise and address collectively.
“It is not a matter that PDP and APC would be addressing separately. In saner societies, there would even be no mention of PDP or APC in this matter, it would be a collective problem. The reason is that right from the time they were in power, they were the ones who started this problem in the first place.
“It was under their government that Boko Haram started in the first place and they are blaming others for what they caused.
“As it is today, the PDP should cover its head in shame when we talk about Boko Haram because if they had nipped Boko Haram in the bud, it would not be where it is today.
“They have no moral right to accuse any other government over Boko Haram. Boko Haram was birthed, developed, escalated under the PDP government, so they should cover their head in shame over the Boko Haram problem.”

Cross River State Loses A Son!!
Farewell Maj.(Dr) Alobi Nsor, my kinsman from Olulumo Eburutu who was hacked down by Boko Haram terrorists at Matele, Borno State on 19th November, 2018. Alobi, you were a fine gentleman, gallant soldier and a brilliant medical doctor. You died in active service in defense of a nation with broken wings and flippant promises. Your eldest brother, Late Dr Edim Nsor was my very good friend and age mate.
I feel the pains of your beloved father who invested so much in his "boys", two of whom became medical doctors but died in their prime. I'm deeply pained and terribly saddened by your untimely demise my beloved younger brother. I knew you as a calm and soft spoken young man.
Farewell my beloved brother! Adieu Major! Rest in the bosom of the Lord Doc! By Missang Oyama
May his gentle gallant soul rest in peace ! AMEN! |

Lawan On Sunday in Bauchi reveals that despite the claims from the opposition parties, though the current president has gained the trust of many Nigerians for the space of three and half years of his administration.
According to the senator’s statement, “APC will be selling character and integrity to Nigerians come 2019.
“I want to say that the 2019 general elections will be determined by integrity; the 2019 general elections will be determined by the history of candidates.
“We know what other candidates of the other parties were before; we know what they didn’t do for us; we know what they did to Nigeria, in the area of destroying Nigeria. They privatised our common patrimony; they sold everything that was government to themselves; and they also intend, if they come back, God forbids, to sell the remaining things to themselves.
“We are not going to accept this; President Muhammadu Buhari never desires or intends to do anything like that. What ever he does is for the interest of Nigeria; whatever he does is for the future of Nigeria.
“And we believe that Nigerians know this facts and therefore we don’t have to do so much in the area of campaign.
“I want to tell you that there are so many people who, before this time, did not believe in any political party. But after seeing what President Muhammadu Buhari has done, with the little resources at his disposal across country, have now decided to give their support for President Buhari even when they don’t believe in a political party.
“So many have also told themselves that they now believe that APC is ready to bring positive change to Nigeria.”
