These are spurious allegations. There's a saying that in every 12 there's a Judas. If there are a few persons in a profession that do what is wrong it is not a justification for blackmailing everyone in that profession. That is most unreasonable.

That is only possible if the government allows universities to charge tuition. The same Government insists that tuition is free but has refused to fund education. Primary and secondary school fees are higher than the fees paid at Federal Universities.

Let me tell you why ASUU is against ippis.
1. Most lecturers especially old professors are using falsified age. It is university that is covering them. I have my facts
2. Earn allowance has been politicised between ASUU and nasu. Most universities refuse to employ young lecturers because of earn allowance. Nasu is also getting earn allowance which also wrong.
3. Working in multiple universities. The rule is 1 full time 1 visiting appointment either in private or public institution. Many lecturers are working in multiple institutions. Government wants to have database of all lecturers and where they are working

Let me respond to each of your allegations:
1. Do you have enough evidence? This is a spurious allegation that holds no water. The system has checks and balances. The human resources of each University has records of birth certificates /age declaration which must be submitted before a person is appointed a lecturer. Retirement date of each lecturer is also indicated in the annual appraisal forms which must match with the employment records.
2. Vacant academic positions are collated from departments and advertised by universities yearly. Sometimes those vacancies are not filled because the applicants may not meet the specific requirements. Minimum requirements for lecturing is a PhD or its equivalent. In the interim, fellowship is acceptable for medical specialties. Plus specific work experience and publications.
3. I'm not aware of lecturers working as full-time staff in multiple Federal Universities. A lecturer should have only one full-time appointment and can be a visiting lecturer based on need. No lecturer can work in unilag and UI or OAU as full time it is just not possible. Its cheap blackmail of the government. They should provide evidence and make scape goats of anyone culpable. A visiting lecturer is only paid about 30% of what a full-time lecturer gets.

I know more than 4 or 5 people that died from the disease. A little over 1,000 deaths out of 200 million people is insignificant and you may or may not know any of them. On obituaries, the specific cause of death is not indicated.

This same platform is being used to pay almost every other FG employee. It is flexible enough to accommodate the peculiarities of lecturers. It is being used in hospitals, esp teaching hospitals where many of the doctors there are lecturers and also visit other hospitals.

It negates the law governing Universities. The principle of autonomy which took ASUU many years of strike . It does not capture the peculiarities of lecturers. Lecturers have specific allowances that support publishing in journals and attending conferences. A lecturer is expected not only to teach but do research which should be published in journals and presented at conferences. The cost of publishing in local journals range between 35 and 100k. While open access international journals cost between $1,000 and $2,500. This he does using his lean salary. No lecturer is promoted without having a good number of publications in local and international journals. The mantra in academics is "publish or perish".

Those attributing lecturers' rejection of IPPIS to their visiting status to other universities are not aware that the lecturers that serve as visiting lecturers are mostly visiting lecturers to private and state universities which are NOT on IPPIS. So it is impossible for IPPIS to detect it.

Also, IPPIS does not take into consideration other peculiarities like visiting lecturers from foreign universities whose services are required to support some departments that need their expertise. Universities all over the world don't operate in isolation.

150 out of 200 million is extremely an infinitesimal number. While I can't defend whatever figures generated by NCDC we shouldn't be too quick to discard the figures. Most of you want to see dead bodies from COVID on the streets before you believe its real. The fact is that most cases are asymptomatic and fatalities are extremely low.

COVID-19 is real. Fatalities in Nigeria is less than 0.1%. Many Nigerians including those suffering from hypertension and diabetes have a strong immunity to fight COVID-19. It doesn't kill Nigerians like ebola or Lassa fever. However, its seems from observation that age is the greatest risk factor for COVID-19 in Nigeria. The elderly those above 70 years are only about 5% of our population. We've lost a number of people above 70 years this year who possibly may have died from COVID-19 complications. Most don't do COVID-19 tests.. Autopsy is a taboo in Nigeria. We take everything that happens as the act of God or 'enemies from the village'.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday said there was nothing wrong in the appointment of Lauretta Onochie, one of President  Muhammadu Buhari's media aides, as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appointment has generated widespread criticisms from Nigerians who believed that it is partisan and unconstitutional.

However, speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC said the party will not succumb to the cheap blackmail orchestrated by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nabena who gave instances of PDP men who are currently in INEC said what is good for the PDP is also good for the APC.

According to him the current INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is also a card carrying member of PDP.

He said "We are very comfortable with her appointment. The INEC Commissioner in Cross River, Mike Igini, is he not a PDP man? The INEC spokesman, is he not a PDP man? So, what are they talking about?" 

"All these cheap blackmail by PDP is not going to work. As a party, we are comfortable with the appointment".

"Even the current INEC chairman was a PDP man. Was he not recruited from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)? Let us face the facts and stop the cheap blackmail being sponsored by the PDP. We are not going to succumb to their cheap blackmail. That is the reality" he said .

The cases in Lagos are gradually beginning to increase. Other states are not doing any serious testing. The thing about this virus is that it mostly kills old people so when they die we think its because of diseases of old age not knowing they still would have lived for 10 years longer. 1 in 5 cases of people 65 years and above who got infected from COVID-19 in Nigeria have died from the disease. Also those suffering from
severe hypertension, diabetes,heart diseases, cancer whose health conditions have seriosly deteriorated also died from COVID19. So don't be deceived COVID-19 is real. The numbers from NCDC are actually lower than the actual figures. I can't defend them on corruption allegations but COVID19 is in the country. Most people don't go to hospital when they are sick and we hardly ever do autopsy to determine the cause of death as we are are prone to making assumptions. So stay safe not just for yourself but for your old loved ones or very sick loved ones who can still live for another 10 years.

Many students are just interested in acquiring certificates without learning. You give students assignments to help them acquire some marketable skills but unfortunately they give it out on contract and eventually learn nothing. They contract out their final year projects and think they've succeeded in deceiving their lecturers.

Testing has drastically reduced. COVID-19 is still rampaging. We lost someone with COVID-like symptoms a couple of days ago. Although death rate is very low (less than 1% )you shouldn't take things for granted. Nigerians hardly go to hospital for minor ailments and its difficult to get accurate records. Only the discerning will realise that we have lost more people this year compared to previous years.
Since death rate from COVID is less than 1%, if you are not someone that pays attention to minute details you won't discover the pattern. So stay safe and take personal responsibility.

Very true. Many youths who do not respect their parents at home call big men their fathers. People that don't know them. People they cannot meet one on one due to high security restrictions around them.

Nigeria is truly a poor country bedeviled with poor leadership. Also, concerted efforts are needed at wealth creation. Government should also come up with clear policies to mitigate the population growth.

Most states have stopped testing since cost is high and mortality is very low.

This is technical knock out.
But it is rather unnecessary. These men are indeed human as anyone else.
