hmm. You are one out of many making this compliment. Thanks. But it's easier said than done. I am better off just writing on my misery, which no one will patronise. Writing an enticing book involves some intricacies

Child of doom how u take apply
relief funds abeg
registration is over now. Only those who applied in April were taken. Sorry. On a second thought, thank God I didn't apply for something bigger, like one million naira. I would have just wasted government's money like that.

The offer was too good to be true. I registered without putting seriousness in it. Surprisingly, we were all taken (about 80,000 people across the country). Without hammering on the collateral and guarantor, since it was the general lockdown period. I remember having a sleepless night when I got the alert at 4am. I couldn't wait till morning to plan life. I had big dreams my brother.

Now the money is all gone, my eyes are clear now. 'Money get spirit, I swear' sad

yes bro. The process was very transparent. Kudos to the Federal Government. I applied in April, during the lockdown and the loans were given to us in June. It was disbursed by NIRSAL MICROFINANCE BANK on behalf of the Central Bank. I just pray I am not prosecuted when I am unable to pay back

RomanceRe: Many Of Us Are Fools by ChildOfDoom(op):
It might seem harsh that I tagged many people along in my ordeal. But come to think of it, most of us in this age of materialism, are all guilty of one obstinate addiction or the other. Desperation, the western influence and recalcitrance has made most youths a mess. Despite stern warnings from parents and elders, we do not relent in our addiction. What do I call those of you in this web?

You drink to stupor every now and then, even when you know it damages your kidney gradually. At times in your drunken state, you do carefree and regrettable things. Yet you won't change.

You that womanize and neglect your family responsibilities. Or squandering money on women instead of planning for your future.

You that take hard drugs and can't do without it. You steal and dupe people to patronize drug barons. You also become aggressive to every one in the process.

You as a lady that sell your body to any one. Even married men, when you know it could get ugly when caught. Girls that fall blindly in love at a teenage age, neglecting studies and cohabiting with a man. Some carry out constant abortion that has health implications or steal to give to their lovers

You that masturbate so much that you hardly have an erection again. Yet you won't listen to advise of likely having erectile dysfunction if not regulating it. Or you that can't do without sugary things or junk food, despite risk of diabetics. (I also fall into the last two categories).

Other categories exist but i stop here. What do we call the aforementioned if not fools? We are unable to abstain from addictions in today's world of celebrating immorality. Only God can save us

Since I took to gambling, my life has moved from promising to pitiable. Why don't I see myself as a bad example and stop? Hmm. Old habits die hard I guess. My mates graduated in 2015. I didn't because I gambled with my school fees. The pain of watching my contemporaries graduating and being left out, should have made me give myself a constructive criticism. But no, I wouldn't. I turned bet9ja shop to my second home. Taking every money that came to me there to waste away. I disgust myself.

Only a fool will lose so much, sell all he had, dupe people etc just to give charitably to a computer screen that has been programmed to milk us of our money. Despite advice of letting go and facing the future, I still continued my miserable lifestyle in Warri after I fled Benin. Why can't the fear of going to jail or being tortured, dissuade me from duping people to gamble. At times, I would starve myself then or ignore aggravated declining health and improper hygiene, just to engage in the diabolic act I was 'possessed' with. I used to find joy sitting amongst low-lives and discussing our loss at bet9ja shops.

Five years of misfortune, yet something still draws me to hold the mouse at bet shops to try my luck. Maybe it's boredom, my love for football or just sheer mischief that keeps pushing me to the act. I am a fool. How do I explain losing 250,000 naira COVID-19 relief funds given to me by the government that I lost in one day (30 minutes sef). Hmm. I should have started life with that money.

Now school has partially resumed, I have to be a 'slave' to my employer till I pay up the WASSCE enrollment money I squandered for betting. So far, I have given 30k 'runs' money I saved, to him. Remaining 70k left.

Hurray! It's two months now (July and August) without engaging in the spell-binding bet9ja virtual. How I did it is unimaginable. If I will suffer a relapse and go back to the act, is unpredictable. For now, a step at a time. My target now is to painstakingly try to avoid bet9ja shops for at most, six months.

In my leisure time, I do retrospect on my unethical and punting lifestyle so far (since 2015), and how foolish I have been to go back to the future-wrecking act over and over again, despite the repercussions. Many of us, in these contemporary times take foolish steps out of lusts, addictions and persuasions.

I will let you in on mine first.......

Try channeling that money you use in gambling into something more productive, engage your self in something that will make your life better, forgo the get money quick syndrome and pray to God, he will surely hear your prayer.
Amen. I have started disassociating myself from 'friends'. And my quality time is now spent on research. I pray my addiction is all over before I get tortured or locked up for dubious dealings. You should at least replace ur addiction with another....something you have conditioned your brain with for 5, years can't be stopped in 45 days.
Replace it with something like running, getting a soft skill etc
Unless u wanna continue wallowing in sorrow
hmmm. Running or a soft skill may not work now. My body is wired to unconventional or naughty things. Currently, porn, masturbation, naughty groups, junk eating at hangout bars, seeing myself as a mess that needs to remain sober & partially working to prepare my students for WASSCE is a good distraction now.

HOW WE SHOULD BE TREATED

A 15-year-old boy in my neighbourhood was sent by his mother who was a petty trader to go withdraw some money from the bank. Instead of withdrawing 19,000 naira he was sent, he gradually withdrew everything to gamble at a bet9ja shop After his mum recovered from the shock, she organised youths to discipline the child. He was whipped mercilessly by youths. Even though it was a shocking and painful sight to behold, it was the way to go.

A fridge repairer close to my work place heard his teenage son was among those who stole money from their master (the person they were working for) to gamble, did not to stop the repercussion. His son is currently rotting in jail.

Though I fear being locked up or beaten for my atrocities. Glad it didn't happen to me. But that is the way to go. Be stern and put your foot down. It's the way to go. If possible, send your child away if he is an addict to gambling before he sells everything in your house.

If you are dating a gambler, break up. Don't be deceived by their ephemeral winnings, it doesn't last. Greed/addiction has a way of making gamblers raise their stakes, the more they win. You must have read on front-page of nairalanders who lost above 500,000 naira on just one high stake game.

YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED
RomanceRe: My Mum Should Have Disowned Me by ChildOfDoom(op): 1:13pm On Aug 15, 2020
TRUST BROKEN

My mum was told countless times by my sister to let me rot in jail to learn my lesson. She didn't listen. I feel penitent now though. Not proud of how I made things tough for her. But it is what it is. With bet9ja influence, get-rich-quick syndrome and mother's pampering, 60 percent of youths have become wayward. My mum should have stayed aloof. I recall selling her Itel Tablet phone to gamble and lying it was stolen. I also remember selling the Nokia E63 fairly-used phone she bought for me to brighten my mood when i was phoneless. I convinced her I had changed after her advice. I even resumed church then. But I later relapsed into gambling.

My mum would always borrow me money to cope with myself at my duty post. This was from the little she had. I usually promised to pay back with my salary. But I ended up gambling with my salaries within two or three days. This usually made her tearful. The list of my actions at home is endless. My dad wrecked her. I shouldn't have made things worse, but it's the spirit in us (me).

My former employer once sent me to pay some money (19,000 naira) into the bank. I avariciously wanted to double the money to get some gain from it. I ended up losing it all. I lied I was robbed. After my open confession to my boss, he should have read the signs and sacked me before i causedhim more heartbreaks.

My sister who was magnanimously giving me some of her old things, should not have done so. After knowing I am a chronic gambler. I (used to) sell what I get, as long as it is sellable. I wish my friends I begged for alms in the past, did not help me. I wasted it all. I wish the government didn't give me reprieve. I no longer blame Buhari for my failures, but only myself. You should have that déjà vu feeling that we can't be trusted with money or responsibilities.
RomanceMy Mum Should Have Disowned Me by ChildOfDoom(op): 1:08pm On Aug 15, 2020
What is the use of keeping a gambler close when it is conspicuous that they will make you suffer? There is little or no hope in thinking they will change. All you will get is misery, regrets, heartbreak and frustration.

Since 2015 when I embarked on the futile venture of bet9ja gambling, I have caused nothing but sorrow to my employers, family members, friends, girlfriend and especially my mother.

Please stop hoping that a gambler with change. Treat them (us) like how lepers were treated in the Bible. Run from any one who gambles (mostly virtual) in order to avoid untold pains to your life. Except you can bear the constant bad news about them till their brains finally get resetted by life.

We never change. It's been 45 days (a month & half) without engaging in bet9ja virtual. Yet, I still don't trust myself to say I am clean. Any thing can push me at any time to go back. I feel less human because I can't reason my life properly as others do yet. A normal person will hold money for contingencies. But my kind becomes restless when they see money.

I will let you in on some things I did to people who kept believing in me.....

mine was about 600k in total this year.

Though, i will surely need help getting a good job (of about 50k monthly) once I can overcome my addiction, and once I see my result. Probably, around December or next year. That way, I learn to live contented.

Currently working on myself. no longer desperate. i pray someone believes in me & help out when that time comes....
