Who is their local government chairman? Who represents them in the house of rep?
It's alarming that a lot of places do not have access to clean drinking water when there are so many affordable options the government can implement. From wells to boreholes to Renagua atmospheric water generation www.renagua.com. I can't even imagine how these people cope.

These people only get a visit from government officials when its election time.

Good morning ma,
I am starting mine this month, but I don't know how to source my cosmetic from cheap source and what is trending now.
Please enlighten me on it so I will buy what is in demand
Thank you

Hi, you can try Lagos Island market or trade fair. Just be sure you don't act like you are new to the market so they don't rip you off.
For trade fair, Rivers plaza is the area to source for cosmetics in wholesale. Thats where I shop mostly unless I need some special items. They also sell perfumes and hair care products opposite.

Start with more low end items and fewer high end items so you don't tie down your capital. Items that will sell fast depends on the location of your shop so do a survey of similar shops around and ask your family and friends who live close by what they are likely to buy often.

Hope this helps.

It will be considered foresight if you start dating a new partner and you both had unprotected sex and now all of a sudden you are worried you might have an STD. Hooray! Bingo! you are the model citizen for asking to get tested. Why? Because you are taking the initiative to not only get tested and probably have your partner get tested, but ultimately, there is enough testing kit to go around for STD but just not corona virus. I hope that analogy makes sense.

If this were something less serious, then yes your analogy would have made good sense. But when it comes to disease no one fully understands and where people we should trust are economical with the truth then no, I disagree but then that's my opinion. Can't force anyone to agree with me and you shouldn't force your opinion no matter how much you think it's worth on someone else. Peace out.

There is nothing proactive in an asymptomatic person seeking testing right now when testing kits are limited. Quite honestly it reeks of selfishness and selfa selfa asorbtion.

When it's your life on the line, you are free to judge as you like. Someone comes into the country without symptoms and decides to take people to go get tested is hailed for having forsight when one of them tests positive even without showing symptoms cos he is well known. Another ordinary citizen tried same but did not succeed and he is selfish but the governor who had the test done 6 times isn't.
Hopefully if you find yourself or someone close to you in a similar situation, you will have the opportunity to take your advice or offer your opinion.

Most young people are carriers. So what would testing do in his case? How will it prevent him from spreading it? If you have no symptoms, no test for you, there's just not enough test in the world to test healthy unexposed people. Now if you have symptoms and test positive, they can give you some vitamin C and chloroquine, monitor you a bit and discharge you home to self isolate.

Calling the person unserious because he decided to seek out testing and be proactive in protecting himself and those around him is shocking. Its simple for you to list what you think he should do but you've not been exposed or had to live with that fear. I see nothing wrong in what he has done and I appreciate his effort at unmasking just how f**ked up the whole system it. At the end, to each his own.
P.S, you don't really know what goes on when one is admitted. If it was that easy, most of the earlier cases would have been discharged by now.

That person seeking a test right now is an unserious fellow. They are only testing those with symptoms such as fever, cough and body aches who may have been exposed to an infected person. There are very limited number of testing kits to go around, so yes of course screening is selective. Even in America and Europe, they are only testing people with symptoms, so why did your friend think he can just get tested like that?

I guess you've not heard of cases where the person does not show any symptoms or very mild symptoms but is infected and can infect others. It is not true that other countries are testing only those showing symptoms. Some countries quarantine you right from the airport and test you.

Just quarantine Lagos and Abuja... Cut them off from the rest of Nigeria!!! Contain them with the virus they keep importing daily into this porous nation!!!... Do that successfully, and we will be in the clear within a week!!!

The same federal government you are advising to cut Lagos and Abuja off is the same set of people that refused to close the airports and other boarders. The ordinary citizens are the ones who will suffer this the most. Lumping them together with the irresponsible lots in aso rock is very insensitive

This government is still playing politics with the lives of Nigerian citizens. At the beginning, NCDC kept us updated about the number of new infections, how these numbers increased (imported or close contact locally) and number of people discharged. Guess the 6 Lagos State said would be discharged soon are still sick and infectious.
Now they just tell us the number of cases per state only.
How then do we know how fast this disease is spreading locally? Is the government putting a gag on the information so the whole world does not find out how they risked the lives of their citizens because of a selected few or they are afraid to show the whole world how unprepared they are even after all the rubbish talk from Lai and Adesina?
Other countries will learn and grow from this but it's a pity Nigeria will remain the same if we are unable to hold our government accountable.
The president's prerecorded speech today just buttressed the already known fact that Nigeria is royally screwed!

Romance / Re: Am I Making A Mistake? by chinene1(f): 8:50am On Dec 17, 2019
This isn't love. We assume someone who shows some sort of feeling towards us, loves us. Love does not hurt you. Love does not make you second guess your sanity. Love does not make you feel like you are in a war zone. Love builds you, not tear you down. Your partner is supposed to be your refuge and your peace of mind. It is inevitable that lovers will have disagreements, a difference of opinion which may lead to quarrels but if you truly love someone you will ensure that you take time not to hurt the person.
Again, this man will not change unless he wants to and from your write up, he says sorry and then does even something worse the next time shows he is not ready to consider your feelings.
For those who are putting pressure on you to accept him as he is, understand that they won't be with you in your marriage and you will face whatever comes alone.
I detest domestic violence and emotional blackmail and it is the deal-breaker for me.
I can not tell you to leave him or to stay with him. Just don't be deceived that he will change. Be ready to accept all the crap he is throwing at you and believe me, once you say I DO, it won't stop.
Good luck.

dannyla:
I opened a new account to remain anonymous.
This story is a bit long but pls bear with me.

I met this man almost 2yrs ago at an event a friend invited me to. The next week, he collected my number from my friend and called me, we began talking from there and agreed to go on a date. He proposed marriage to me on the first date which I rejected. I told him that I can't marry outside my church and from the little I've heard from him, our life dreams differ. I decided to cut him off from that day and I stayed away for about 3months. Meanwhile he got my friend to introduce him to my sis, mum and another friend who happened to be from his place, I'll call her Grace.
He made them all aware of his intent towards me and my stand and asked for their help to change my mind. Grace became his biggest ally and convinced me to have another date. He asked that we date for a while and see if we can work out our differences. During the date I noticed he has a very hot and quick temper and he listens to gossip a lot so I do tell Gracethat I don't see a future with him but he was too persistent, Grace always had words of encouragement and considering the fact that for some strange reason, it was mainly married men always approach me for a relationship with stories of how they got married to a wrong woman and they are or are almost divorced, dating a single man with no kids was very tempting and I decided to give it a try.

He asked me to tell him everything about me so there are no secrets between us and I did. Starting from secondary school to that day, I told him everything, from my first kiss, the colleague who tried to rape me, my ex who lied about his marital status and disvirgined me etc. he did the same too and I felt a burden roll off my shoulder.

Few days later I began to notice changes in him especially towards my business. I thrive in a male dominated industry in a ratio of 9men to 1woman. He asked me to show him the pictures of my colleagues which I did, he also asked if they make passes at me which I said is almost inevitable but my boundaries are clear and rigid.

Fast forward to now. I noticed that whenever I drop my phone, he goes through it. Facebook, sms, WhatsApp etc. He even picks my call when I'm not close to the phone. He asked me about a certain colleague who cracks dirty jokes like how I rushed to get married (I told him I'm already married). I didn't think much about it.

He later began to complain about my partners and how I'm sleeping with them like the prostitute I am, called me an unrepentant liar, unsubmisive, manipulating etc. Said he regrets asking for my hand at all and he's just waiting forthe day he'll catch me redhanded so he can dump my sorry a*s.
I told him to end it now cus I'm fed up, family came in and I later found out that Grace has been telling a lot of lies against hoping to get him for herself as well as hate filled advises from some aggrieved friends who felt ladies from my tribe are no good and just there to "chop money". Apologies were said and received and we continued.

Another time I visited him and we had an argument, he gave me several heavy knocks on my head and I developed a headache and began to insult him which resultedin more heavy knocks. I broke up with him and left. Later my mum called him to ask why he laid his hands on me, he denied it swearing with his life. Said I insulted him and he lost his temper and insulted me back that he's sorry. He began to drop messages everywhere and I eventually gave in.

3rd incident happened on our way back from an event. He saw a message from a colleague he told me to stop doing business with cus he feels the man has his eyes on me which is totally not true. He flared up, stopped the car and was even threatening to beat me up. I came down from his car and stood by the roadside. He came down too and gave me the insult of my life in full public view and glare and told me to enter the car which I refused. I had no money on me and had to beg a stranger for money. By that time he was coming back, he quickly took a picture of both of us and sent it to everybody of how he caught me in the act with my lover on the road. He called me and said that if he must marry me, I must break my business sim card and look for a wife friendly occupation or sit at home.

He later apologised over it. Meanwhile he and my sis don't flow as before as he once called her a prostitute.

I want to call it quits but everyone around me feels it's a mistake and he is saying everything out of anger and if I'm patient enough, he will change completely.

I must admit that he has changed alot since we met but the progress compared to the timeframe and the heat I face everyday is nothing to write home about.

He loves me to a fault and I don't know if I can find someone who loves me like him but his other attitude is sniffing life out of me. Do I stay or quit?
Thanks for reading and pardon any typos

Health / Re: I Have This Skin Disease And I'm About To Get Married... Help Needed!! by chinene1(f): 9:53am On Nov 29, 2019
Ifeelsad:
I've had this recurrent skin issue for about three years now. I've used everything usable both creams and drugs but its not going. Its getting worst, its on my face, breast, neck, all over my back even on my stomach. I don't know what to do again I'm tired

Please has anyone had this kind of rash
I'll like this moved to the front page for more views because I'm getting frustrated and my husband is getting impatient

I use dettol or izal to bath and I bath twice a day sometimes 3 times depending on d weather so I won't say its uncleanliness

I also had a mild case of this a while back although not as serious or extensive as this. I suspect it started from your chest area and spread across to the rest of your body. Mine covered my chest, upper arm and upper portion of my back.
I still don't know what caused it but I suggest you stay away from any harsh cream, disinfectant or soap. It only makes it worse.
I didn't take any drugs or use any medicated cream or soap. I made my own soap and cream from natural stuff around me at the advice of my friend . For the soap, I used

Ghana black soap (500 naira wrap)
Shea butter (100 naira worth)
Coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
Turmeric powder (1 teaspoon)
Sandalwood powder (1 teaspoon)
Sulphur powder (1 tablespoon)
Oat (regular oatmeal)
Rice water (I small cup)
Powdered milk (50 naira sachet)
Vitamin E capsules (5)
Honey (2 tablespoons)
Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
Lemon juice. ( 1 medium-size lemon)
You can check youtube on how to mix them to make soap.

For the cream, I mixed
Shea Butter (the base)
Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
Olivera oil (10 drops)
Vitamin e oil (5 drops)
Vitamin C oil (5 drops)

I used these for about 2 two weeks and it started to clear. Now I use it 5 times a week and on the other days, I use any good shower gel (dove, lux, Olay, and so on) and dove cream (the one in the bottle).

I don't know if it has a cure or what the cause is but I believe if you use these consistently, you will definitely see results. The good thing is it also helps fade the scars caused by it and it does not bleach you. Funny enough, I had chickenpox along the line and after the treatment with calamine lotion and 7 keys, I went back to this and all the scars are gone. You won't know I had chickenpox.
I hope this helps.

Hi, I am glad you've been able to learn something from it.
In all honesty, the cosmetic business is profitable but then again it depends on what you term as profitable. It's not a business that has a huge turn over immediately but if you are careful with pricing you can make a good profit over time. I have had my shop for over 3 years now and I have been able to pay my rent, pay my sales girls monthly and still have something left over to reinvest, spend or save for rainy days.

The first year was really tight. I bought some products that took over 6 months to sell-off tying down my money while others I had to order for every 2 weeks. I also started selling on Jiji and Jumia so I was able to expand my customer base.

I started with a little over 650k. This covered shop rent, building 2 wall to wall glass shelves and 1 small moveable shelf, renovating (painting, fixing sockets and lights, interlocking carpet, building covert, standing fan, extension box, wall mirror, advert banner), buying items to sell as well as sanitary stuff for cleaning the shop, 3 months salary for my salesgirl, and some other small things.

You may not need as much as what I spent initially. You could just start with the basics and then expand as time goes by. Hope this helps.

Hello. I have been following this thread and it has been so helpful. Please i would like to know from your experience so far, if this cosmetics business if profitable and also, how much capital do one need before venturing into it. Thanks

Crime / Re: Woman Who Flogged Lady In Video Arraigned In Court, she was expelled from school by chinene1(f): 11:03am On Mar 27, 2019
This is exhausting. Reading all these comments about the who will do what to the woman who was assaulted and abused if it was their 'husband' she messed with or rather 'husband' who messed with her'.
I wonder if it was a man who got this treatment, would the response be the same?
Would we call him out and wish they dealt with him more than this for trying to break another man's home? Very doubtful. I am sure we will call the woman a LovePeddler.
Would we pity him? No. We will pity the husband for having such a loose woman as a wife.
Would we call him names and insult his tribe and generation? No, we will reserve that for the woman.

For some, it was the moral aspect of it. Not about the sin of adultery as going against the teachings of the holy book (in which case both man and woman will be guilty) but the sin of adultery 'invading' the 'sacred' matrimonial bed. After all, you are not Jesus so why should you look kindly on the adulterous woman. We can stone her to death for all we care.

Keeping emotions aside, this woman was beaten, stripped, disgraced and blackmailed. A woman, a human being and some of us try to justify it. Some say she deserved it and more. What about the man who invited her? What if she had died? What if she got seriously injured? How have we descended to this level of becoming barbaric?
We need to reset our moral compass and open our eyes. All life is precious and should be respected. Nigeria is already hard. Don't take out your frustrations on others.

The idea for this scheme would have being good if properly thought out. These loans are interest and collateral free so what happens when people don't pay back? Will the government deep their hands into the treasury to continue funding it? 10k may look small but multiple that with 50,000 people who decide not to pay back and see how much the Nigerian economy will lose. Again, let's not forget we are already paying Mpower allowances.

If this money (if we are to believe this figure is real) was used to set up small scale industries which provides products for the local and international market especially in states that always depend on bail out funds to pay workers, I am sure that it will be a lot more beneficial than giving out 10k as a business loan. More people will earn a living and thus improve their life.
Why can't Nigeria get it right? And I disagree, with the right formula and the right people, we can achieve more than 50 million jobs in 50 years. I speak as a Nigerian without any party affiliation.

Yes, sometimes they do their job but mostly, they stop people and force them to part with money just so they can meet their target. One official told me so.
On a Sunday, I was coming from a filling station on Alagbole, Akure road when they stopped me by formal Mr Biggs. For those who know the area, that is not a major roads. They asked for papers and license, I gave them. Fire extinguisher and spare, I showed them. Then they said 1 of my tires was worn out. This was after 1 of them asked me to go. Apparently, the Oga said something to the one who asked me to go. He suddenly turned and said one of my tire was worn out.
We argued for minutes because they took my license. I was given a ticket of 3k to pay. I paid the next day, went to Alagbado to collect my license and met the 'oga' by chance. The idiot had the audacity to ask me out. It was in the process I found out they only came there to meet their target. That my tire was no bad enough to warrant a ticket. I guess he felt his honesty work would get him points. I was truly angry and told him my mind. For those insulting the OP, you were not there, so you have no right to judge.

You need to be careful here. Very careful and diplomatic. Just continue honing your skills, learning new things, getting better at things you already know and bide your time. The time to prove your worth will come. It may take time but it will one day. I am speaking from experience. Don't do anything to force attention on yourself unless it is unavoidable.
Does your company carry out a performance review yearly? This may be an avenue to show what you can do. Don't make your displeasure obvious to your boss. He is your boss and hence you are directly answerable to him.
Don't dwell on this and lose your opportunity.

This man here is the victim.

How dare you! Who are you to judge someone's life and choice? So she didn't deserve happiness because of her condition? A condition she had no authority over. A condition she did not hide from her husband who agreed to marry her. So those who are terminally ill should remain single so as not to hurt people? Didn't know you could determine when people die. Iamgrey5:
This theory of conspiracies must stop.

First of all, the point of news is to publicize and create awareness about certain issues.

One can't expect Nigerian news agencies to publicize the lost of Nigerian troops on a battle field as it will be helping our enemies to gain a psychological advantage over our military, it is the same reason why some terrorist groups release videos to show an act of defiance after suffering a defeat.

it's about patriotism here.

This is quite different from a bomb blast or an attack on the positions of civilians. This is about the psychology aspect of a war.

The press in western countries do something similar during Wars

Secondly, you should know by now that 95% of the news reported by the foreign media on Africa are negative news that paints the continent in a bad light. Only bad news about Africa sells in the western world.

So you should expect the foreign media to even exaggerate the figures a bit just to get a story.

This is not about conspiracies. It's about passing information. The media is supposed to report news. How they do it is what we can debate about but not reporting it because of a directive from any quarter is just wrong. Informing the people of what is happening is not being Unpatriotic. There is a saying, those who control the media, controls the people.
We have a right to know. You can report a story without promoting evil. If properly written it can even get people to change their mindset about aiding these insurgents.

Such hateful comments. Why? What has she said that will warrant such hateful, bile filled comments? Why can't we just read and scroll pass? Must we take out frustrations by making hateful and ignorant comments just because we can?
It pathetic abeg. Live and let live.

NEVER marry a lady who sees herself as an OBJECT of mere satisfaction to the men.
Such ladies abound everywhere.
They lack grey matter in their crevices.

Do you know the formula for tax deductions on earnings? If truly this is a tax deduction then it is way above what it should be and again, not all earnings are taxable and as this is a loan, it should not be taxed. Not supporting any party but I need to point that out. I think the proper thing to do is inform the recipients about the deductions and the reason behind it. It's not too much to expect a breakdown on why 2,000 naira was deducted from 10,000 naira.

SternProphet:
So you will get N10k and no taxes. If the FG is absorbing the taxes, it is something you should ask.

As for PDP supporters putting mouth in TraderMoni, pls shut it. When PDP was in power, they never remembered the poor and the financially endangered. They out a weakling in Aso Rock and stole everything. All western capitals were amazed at the flow of funds coming out of an "oil rich country of very poor people ". The man himself said it.."America will know..".
At least with TraderMoni, things will start moving as traders buy up re-stocks of rice, yams, plantains and FMCG to stimulate the internal economy. We dont have an idiot President saying private jets are evidenced of good economy. The dunce never did buy one for himself BTW.
