But 8 out of every 10 Nigerian can't be Igbo. That's a lot bearing in mind that albeit there might not be a lot of Hausa people, there are people from Delta and Edo areas too so it's not just Igbos and Yorubas. I know there are a lot of Igbo ppl in the U.S. though.

@poster, I won't tell you to cancel the marriage because you're most likely not going to. Many people won't. . .
Quick question though: What does being a Christian have to do with accepting his looks which are otherwise unsatisfactory to you? Obviously, he has his own flaws too in the looks department maybe it's time you told him too.

I can tell you one thing though, any relationship whereby your partner makes you feel uncomfortable about your image, body or whatnot, is probably starting on a wrong foot. People should marry people they're attracted to, call it superficial, doesn't mean their spouse is Denzel or Beyonce in the actual sense but to them, they are. Are you willing to bend over backwards and take his constant verbal abuse for life?

Beaf:
To my mind, those who go looking for village men or women to fly into marriage in a strange land are people who aren't confident in their abiliies with the opposite gender. They would have run into trouble anyway; it all goes back to the Nigerian self esteem issues I pointed out earlier.
Exactly!

It's ironic how they claim westernized women are bla bla and bla yet they still end up butchering the ones from the village. Sad bunch.
This daft pororo is not woth my time obviously. Concentrate on the area boys who bang you without remorse but make sure you slam one with pregnancy sha if you hope to marry.
Great! Now run along.
Going to live with a savage animal who'll eventually butcher you is marriage? I laugh in Swahili, don't worry about me though - worry about your self-esteem issues.

This is a darn shame to even have this conversation, the sorry trolls on here who can't get a woman to save their lives want to ramble on about enforcing male superiority complex disguised as tradition on women cheesy
LMFAO!! Damn!!

I don't really have a problem with the Igbo traditional marriage - kneeling to serve the wine. What I detest is all these people yelling about tradition only when it benefits them or quote the bible to emphasize submission forgetting what the same bible also states as the man's role. Buncha hypocrites!

If this cake thing is a tradition, was cake always used? I ask because Nigerian villages knew nothing about no damn cakes in 1700 tongue
You've always have the thought process of an idi.ot . I just laid out that more Yoruba women have killed their spouses than Igbo men or any other men from Nigeria, so how do you explain that or is it good to discuss men related violence while we sit on the ones associated with women?.

I see pure sexism here o. See as they keep ignoring it even though those cases happened one month apart .
You're very mad! Of course if it's a factual issue then it's obviously a problem too, does not pertain to this very topic. Open a thread on Yoruba women killing their men and it'd be considered a problem too. Sheesh, buy a brain.

Yea, from tribalism to sexism. You're a genius. . . not. I could easily have denied the glaring truth but I choose not to be a hypocrite(sue me!)
CrimeRe: Professor Dubem Okafor Kills Wife, self In U.s by chiogo(f): 12:49am On Aug 19, 2010
There were a couple cases of murder by non-Igbo men. But fact remains that Igbo men are the majority perpetrators of this barbaric act.
Y'all can choose to call it a Nigerian problem but some people always have a bigger share of the so-called problem. With that said, the Nigerian name has been over-soiled around the world, it's getting more than sickening. Which one una dey sef? 419, terrorism, na wa oo.

davidylan:
the "bible quoters" are here.  grin Honestly this is an absurd statement to make. You can simply ignore the bible, you're not forced to model your marriage along its principles. Its funny how the advent of feminism has spawned a sudden increase in the number of failed marriages. Here was i thinking "partnership" was the way to go. I must be old school!

The interesting thing is that foreign women (those who supposedly brought us feminism) perfectly understand the art of submission!
And you came to this assertion how exactly? Any empirical evidence because y'all claim this but no evidence.
As for ignoring the bible, that's not the issue. The issue is that the bible-quoters assume everyone is a Christian and start going off on a tangent quoting the bible without considering the readers. Are christians the only ones in marriages? No. So, why not make valid points that even an atheist won't be able to rebut without quoting the bible?

davidylan:
when were you born? 2005? Are you exposed?
2010 actually.  tongue I only know about kneeling down to serve the wine in the Igbo culture. I ask again, was cake always used in this tradition?

This analogy about the death of Kanye's mom is plain laughable. Typical naija mindset, you have a clear-cut situation yet you believe it's the work of some "devil". Okkk, that makes so much sense. tsk.

I know.

And the bible-quoters would also emerge. The word 'submission' must be giving some people some type of pleasure.

@topic, never heard of this feeding the cake business. If this is a so-called tradition, when did it start because I'm sure they were no cakes in the olden days.

CelebritiesRe: Pics: Mbgn Universe Ngozi Odaloni at Miss Universe **sigh** + Pic Of Miss Ghana by chiogo(f): 4:37pm On Aug 15, 2010
@Liedetect, Beyonce's booty is actually not close to buffy's. The size of Bee's booty is over-rated, I think she has average butt for her body type. I think her body is nice though.

And all this Nigerian woman/model/elegant thing you keep talking about is a really absurd generalization because Nigerian women come in various body types.

@topic, this Nigerian contestant is simply not up to par though she's not ugly. But then it's Miss Universe, maybe a different criteria other than beauty is required because they all don't look special.
